I recently found your channel and I am really enjoying the recipes (and slowly shopping for the basic Japanese ingredients so I can start cooking soon). I don’t know what I love more - to watch you cook or to watch you eat LOL. I am definitely cooking this soon. Thank you for helping me fight my fear of starting to cook Japanese.

I cooked this dish today and it was delicious! I omitted the sake (because I’m too cheap to buy it) and had to substitute the shiitakes for portobello mushrooms. My family really enjoyed it too! I’ll make it again soon.

This is an older video. Interesting to notice the differences compared to your newer videos. No slurp alert!!! Also, the measurements were “eyeballed”, which is what most experienced cooks do. In your newer videos, you measure everything to help your audience.
When you eat, you never have a beverage to drink. Why is that???
Still a great video, well organized, and ingredients ready.
To thaw something is to defrost.

The process of soaking the dried mushrooms is called rehydrating them. Yes, they are soaking up the water, but that’s a result of pouring water over them.

Japanese are the Italians of the east. They both know how to endorse their cuisines. 😄

Oyakodon is one of my favorite dishes. In our house, we have Americanized the plating of it so we eat it with rice, but put the rice on a dinner plate and the Oyakodon over the rice or on the side of the rice. Sometimes we put it in a bowl like you did which makes a lot of sense since the dish flavors the rice that way.

Plate or bowl just put dish over rice. Rice is soaked in the juice and it becomes
      more delicious.

When rice is left soaking in water, it is absorbing the water, not soaked up. The last expression makes it sound like it’s taking a bath.

Please stop supporting and publishing videos by Cooking with dog.
What are these people thinking? No animal should be on the kitchen counter EVER. It is unsanitary and disgusting. The announcer is difficult to understand as well.

Failure is only when one does nothing. I enjoy this beautiful channel and appreciate application to what is learned. You can try to explain what is needed to make it better. Creativity is wonderful to share.
