- Are you concerned about the use and safety of stents? We asked Dr. Robert Stoler, Co-Medical Director of Cardiology at the Baylor Heart and Vascular Hospital, to set the record straight on stents. Dr. Stoler explains when and how stents are used and how Baylor decides if a stent is the best way to remedy a heart issue.

Im 46 years old. I had 3 stents put in yesterday. One of my arteries was 99% blocked, the other was 95% blocked. I went in for the angiogram test and they almost wanted to do a bypass surgery on me. I am home now. I was having chest pain and shortness of breath. It all happened very quickly. Im still kinda in shock. I think I was on the verge of having a heart attack any day by the way the Dr explained it to me. Im still very scared.
had two stents fitted in my heart, One in my left artery and one in my right artery, The difference is amazing, I cycle seven miles everyday on my mountain bike up the hills and go running on the tread mill three times a week, My arteries had narrowing due to plaque build up but having the stents fitted as transformed my life, I have changed my diet to a healthy one and had the one hour procedure in hospital while i was awake, I must stress i did not have a heart attack but was getting discomfort in my arms and across my chest if i did anything physical, Kind of a dull pain which went away when i rested, The Cardiologists saved and transformed my life, I cannot thank them enough and i am very very grateful.
how are you after 2 months? My grandpa had 1 stent surgery yesterday. he's 76 yo. will he be okay in next few years?
@@Rahulbajaj561 I am feeling great after one year after having my stents fitted, Eat healthy, Cut out the saturated fats and junk food. I eat lots of vegetables, salmon, nuts, porridge every morning and foods low in sugar and fats. I still have a treat now and again and take regular exercise daily .

Jeeeez nice story.
You CANNOT beat lance Armstrong yet i bet.
My husband had 4 stents placed. I'm having trouble figuring out what he can eat! He stopped smoking after 35 years..but, he's struggling with changing his eating habits
My two stents are 10 years old, best not to think about it, but, walk as much as you could. Aspirin 81,slow down heart by Bata blocker and control high pressure.
Now you fine now you take tablet a sir
Three stents off all drugs
Soooo many people have a heart attack or get stents and don't do much about their weight or exercise. Exercise people!!! 2.5 hours a week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise a week. People watch an average of 35 hours of TV a week--you can workout less than 10% of that time (miss one 30 minute show a day) and workout. It's fun!!!! (I have two stents and am super fit).
thank you for informative and very easy to understand comments..
Anyway this is a very good, enlightening video made by A Master Doctor.
Thanks great info
Thanks so much for your information!
I just had a stent put in a couple of days ago. I was suffering from sudden chest pain almost daily. They found a 95% blockage in my left main. I already feel better and can walk up the stairs in my house without being out of breath or having my blood pressure shoot up. Which reminds me. My BP would suddenly shoot up to the 200's for no reason at all then the chest pain would start. My first trip to the hospital resulted in them just giving me a ton of BP meds which didn't seem to help after a few months.
I already feel better and after a couple of days I'll be out and about walking around again.
On November 12, 2020, I had a stent placed as well. The description you’re provided is identical to what I was feeling. My pulse would shoot u and then come back down. How are you doing since? Any tips? Thanks.
How about sex .
@@bert1450 but whats the time SCALE to get more excercises..
Thanks for the info. Question: I am highly allergic to metals - would that preclude ;me from ever having a stent???
i have 2 stents after several heart attacks, my daughter going for 1 in her aorta this fri, not worried at all.
What is the recovery time for extent procedure for your legs
In my son's case he a stent through open heart surgery,he was on medication for 3 years and goes for ballon diliation every year? Don't understand. The doctor said he will be needing a bigger stent that would last him for a life time
Just a short message !!!

my father had a stent in his RCA 7 days ago.now he has LCX with 80% blockage Dr suggest another stent if needed.now what next any suggestion
How long does it take for the pain to go away in your legs after having stents put in
Is it ok to do weights with stents? What’s the highest BMP for a person with stents?
Highest bmi? 25 best stick with fat percent if you lift heavy. What you do for exercise depends on your heart condition. I have three stents but no heart damage. I do anything I want to. Ask your doctor but let me warn you they don’t know jack shit. I was morbidly obese my stent doc said don’t worry about your weight. Stupid advice
I had 5 stents, ( 5 yrs back ) after 48hrs. I was on my foot and playing badminton....✌
The electric man 1 Great you could play with just one foot.

Hope you know what this badminton game all about. Is it a joke or are you serious of playing on one foot....😁😀😂✌
Hello. May I ask how are you now with your stent? Thanks & Godbless
1% is not low risk (1 in 100) You also mentioned 90% of the time ... that means 1 in 10 have a problem. What about the Courage Report which concluded stents do not prevent heart attacks? I consider 0.1% as a fairly low risk, not 1%.
.
Is it safe to excersise after stent placement? My dad got one a few weeks ago...what are the chances of plaque forming up again?
Did u not listen to the doctor in this video ?
Exercise, & blood thinners such as aspirin, ir Plavax help keep blood thinner after an event.
And the stent should be the medicated type which is to prevent clothing or white blood cell attacking your stent.and yes plavix and aspirin. As for exercise he told me to walk daily. I was 57 when I had my myocardial infarction. Wasent a very painful attack. Just made me feel poorly. I was driving a semi truck. Went to hospital the following day.
Hello. May I ask how is your father now? Thanks & Godbless
@@bigwu100 hello. May I ask how are you now with your stent?
Do any of you get dizzy and nauseous when ever you walk or do exercises. I have anxiety attacks and get depressed. I have no energy or strength to do 4min of work. Sweating badly. Used to be a boxer, worked hard before. My memory is shocking. Can't retrieve phone numbers. Feel very unsafe to drive my car. Bedsides getting bone Pain and sleepness. Got one stent in and feel crap. Every morning I can hear blood flow gushing sounds like a hose being linked slowly, makes me feel sick and dizzy. Help
Find a chek practitioner in your area, it might be hormone related, they will do a better job at finding the root cause
Is it safe to take hydrocodone after having a stent put in if you were already taking it for years?
I had 5 mm stone hanging in S2 vertebrae area near bladder, i did CT scan 1 month ago as i had severe pain 4-5 time that day. But last one month after the scan, i have no pain no symptoms. I am confused if it is gone or not. Or it is still in ureter without symptoms. I didnt notice anything while passing uring. Scare of doing CT scan too frequently. Please advice me. Thank you.

How are you feeling now?
I had a stent placed in the LAD now the where the stent is placed the artery is blocking back next to it up already to 55% whats the deal and what may have to happen Thanks
They will install another stent if needed, but ask your cardiologist...don't wait
@irishbreakfast I was 95% blocked back in 1997
Suffered massive Heart Attack.....The gave me Nitroglycerin to open artery ( it was an Emergency )
12 hoirs later, had stent installed in LAD.
That was 22 yrs ago.
Never, ever had a problem since that day.
I went back to work in 16 weeks ( back then they kept you from working for 4 months.
Today, you go back to work in a week or 2.
In your case...Don't worry...These stents last many, many, many years
Are you exercising 2.5 hours a week? Eating correctly?

I realize this video is 9 years old, just poking around to see if anyone has experienced odd body sensations of any kind long after stent placement (6 months or longer). I will not mention the manufacturer of my stents at this time.Curious if the recently made stents that are drug eluding might have a adverse reaction in people.
I had that type drug eluding.and nothing to weird I guess. I do not like the thought of it in me.
Hello. May I ask how are you now with youe stents? Thanks & Godbless
@@bigwu100 same here. How are u holding up. I just got stent. 5 days ago
I had a stent fitted about 12 years ago. For about a year I had this sensation of soreness in my chest, almost as you would get from a graze, can’t explain any better than that. I think it was largely psychosomatic. It faded and I have been fine ever since.
@@davidshipp623 thanks for the update on ur stent gives mee hope ill reach my 60 or even 80s am 40 years old so kinda scary to get a heart issue at this age but its my fault Kababs and beer hamburger got me here but it was good times now life is different
Why some people die after a stent surgery when It is supposed he or she should improve?
The sound quality on this video is such a low standard. What's with the machinery noise? Surely an established company, especially in the profitable game of US health could find a competent video producer to deliver a professional result. Or was the job given to the CEO's mistress, in line with the rampant corruption that pervades the industry?
I had five heart attacks, and have six stints in
If you have a 70 % blockage but no pain , do you need a stent?
Most doctors will place a stent at 70%
If the stent is placed and after one month, a patient feels chest pain can i give him Aspirin , will that give relief. Reply soon please 🙏
Not one goddamn word about how bad sugar is for your arteries
God's last name isn't 'damn'.
Say u hav 70% blockage but no pain u still need a stent??
My grandma just had that procedure with exactly 70% blockage and no pain, although she did feel nauseous
If you know theres 70% block, you aren’t also
taking care of yourself.
If you want to wait till it’s 80-90, you might not get chance, 1st heart attacks could kill or severely disabled you.
They found mine at 90% with almost no symptoms (I was lucky)!
In the long run u (we)have atherosclerosis, if u don’t fix it with diet & exercise
stent(s) will not help.
@@babartahir9004 thank you sir very sensible advice
Why make this video in a noisy room? Having the noise and equipment as background does nothing for sharing this information and actually obscures it!
There is no guidelines stents for profit and you don't explain the procedure to the patient
forget about going back to work when you have a heart attack and a stent put in to you. it takes months to recover from it.
I disagree... I went through that. And went straight back to work.
What a load of crap you talk, Had two stents fitted in January , Feel fantastic ever since and mountain bike 7 miles up hills most days, Recovery was very fast a matter of days then i was excising, Stents have transformed my life, I feel fantastic now.

Stents are risky and of no value to a patient other than when in cardiac arrest.
