You guys are the best. Three generations of smart and talented folks. I learned so much from my father when he was still alive. Never knew my grandfather. He passed away when I was a very young toddler. Grandpa was a machinist at Olin in Alton, IL. I would have had 1000 questions for him.
I got really lucky with Grampy. My Great Grandfather Pepe's basement was the first real shop I have memory of. He was an Italian immigrant, a WWII Vet and avid maker/inventor. My family always compared me to him as I fell in love with tools and fixing and making things. He suffered from dementia through most of the time I knew him and I never REALLY got to talk to him. I'd have a thousand questions for him too. Fun Fact: I got my screwdriver tattoo in memory of him after graduating engineering school. The serial number is: AJR1919-03 USA His initials, the year he was born, the year he died, and I ALMOST went for made in Italy, but he went to war for the US so I figured keep it domestic.
@@TyranisCustoms Dementia sucks. my mother is dealing with it currently. Deaf Duck Racing is in tribute to my father who passed away Jan. 2020. Its in reference to a joke that he use to tell back in the day. Anyone who knew him, knew the joke. "HEY DUCK" was the last two words of his obituary. He is looking over me all them time. We owe so much to the elders who taught us all this stuff we know.
Awesome lathe! I just ordered my Rogue Fab bender yesterday, and suspect that an old lathe will be my next shop toy later this year. Can't wait to watch you turn out lots of cool stuff on yours.
@@TyranisCustoms Bro, I just got my Rogue Fab setup and made my first bend yesterday. Game changer! First build will be a big wheel mini bike. Already got saved searches out for lathes so hope to find one soon…so I’m gonna need more lathe content from you, please!
Wow, that’s awesome that your Grampy worked at Pratt and Whitney. They make some killer jet engines. I think you should find a small one and strap it to one of the karts. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@TyranisCustoms i learned the appreciation of wood lathes in high school from David Bloom, my woodshop teacher. He also had the skills and love for burl wood. He had friends he made w/ guys from the electric company. The guys who would cut down the trees that were messing w/ the power lines. If there was a burl, they would call Mr. Bloom. He had some bowls that were so thin they were translucent.
You are truly entering a new world, get a four jaw independent chuck,if you don't have one with your toy. offset boring in square stock!with a vertical mill and a lathe, you can make about anything.more custom tyranis!
This is awesome, not only some quality time with Grandpa but you were able to preserve his knowledge forever on UA-cam!
Thank you man! That's EXACTLY what I was going for!
Grampy loves ya kid.
Wow Big G is in the chat!!
Love ya Grampy!!😊❤️
Love you too! Thanks for all the wisdom ya dinosaur;) 🦖
My grandpa would have really enjoyed my kart hobby. He had his own tinker garage of things I always ohd ahd over. Great times and memories.
Grampa shops are some of my favorites

I'll have to see if he has any spares kicking around haha
Burlwood bowls are gorgeous, and very difficult to turn. Nice work Grampy
I'm glad someone was able to fully appreciate that thing! He makes some really cool stuff!

Feeds and speeds! MR3 US Navy
Yeahhh buddy! 🛳
You would love a DRO. The level of precision it will add is phenomenal. You will also want a live center if you don't already have one.
What's a DRO? 😯
