  • Let's talk about the four main things you should NEVER do in your lawn in the summer. You should be very cautious about HOW you water your lawn. Watering every day is actually really bad for your turf and roots! Water once a week for a long time! Summer is not the time to cut your lawn low either. Cutting your lawn low will really stress it out at this stage. Cut high! You should also not skip fertilization! Your lawn still needs to eat!

      Thanks, man! Sounds like we have a similar set up. I think its because Toyota's are great to maintain and we love to do it ourselves!

    Get you a string and tie a rock to the end of it to throw it over that branch And once you have a string over that branch cut the string and tie the rope to one end and pull it over and mount your swing to the rope.
    I actually put a 4 foot chain in the middle of the rope because the rope eventually ripped, but with the chain being what is laid over the branch, I've had it up for 4 years with no trouble.

    My friend your helping me out big time. So the Anderson 4-2-0 is for water penetration, the melorganite 10-10-10 is for slow release fertilizer. Can I do both of these at the same time, also do info this in direct sunlight? I see you treated for weeds in the direct sunlight I'm cool to do this? Sorry trying to save my lawn that was just placed last year

    The height of that tree branch vs how far the branch sticks out.... you might want to get your kid one of those larger saucer swings, they have like a 3 foot diameter and four connection points that attach to 2 swing ropes. That way the saucer hits the tree trunk long before your kid's leg/arm/head, because kids will spin the swings and it doesn't look like you have distance on that branch for any kind of safety.

    My Tall Fescue lawn threw up a bunch of seed heads this spring and I've been mowing high because of an unusual drought. I've been keeping up with watering, but now I have patches of brown seed stalks. What can I do about that?

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview  Рік тому +1

      Truthfully, there's not a lot you can do. You might consider a small dosage of milorganite to help it recover but under fortunately that sometimes happens w/ /tall fescue and Kentucky blue. I wish I could provide you a magic fix but next year make sure your blades are sharp and you fertilize well w/ like a pgf complete in the early spring and very early summer. The higher nitrogen should keep the majority of the energy in the leaf and roots.

    just bought a house with a sizeable lawn that is covered with about 60% weeds in my yard and there is at least 7 different types of weeds. I tried using weed killer spray but it was useless with how much weeds are there, what do you recommend me to do with the weeds problem of this size?

    • @TheLawnReview
      @TheLawnReview  11 місяців тому

      Hey man! Thanks for watching and the question. There are really two routes you could take. One being ripping the bandaid off and killing everything with roundup & then reseed in the fall. Another option is to use a selective post emergent like tenacity or dimension then overseed in the fall and then put down a preemergent after germination and your first two cuts in the fall then another preemergent in the early spring. Think of option one as ripping the bandaid off. Option two will take several (3ish) years to provide desired results. I opted for option 1. But it’s a ton of work. All of this is assuming you like in the north or middle part of the country. If you live down south this will change dramatically.

      @@TheLawnReview It's a horrid mess, lol. The property I bought was vacant for a dozen years so the yard will be the last to get dealt with, I have a couple of rider mowers to clear the land with and loppers and chain saws for the rest. Just got the well & septic system squared away last year along with a wood stove and water heater, This year it's the remaining major appliances and a boiler or two. I am going with multiple utilities for any system I can because this is a very secluded rural area on a mountain. Elec & propane stoves, water heaters and dryers. Wood oil and propane boilers for heat in addition to wood & pellet stoves. Propane, diesel and gasoline generators. You never know if there won't be accessible driving conditions for supply trucks or for how long the power could be out. Yeah, I'm not too worried about the lawn atm but it will be a sea of KBG when I'm ready.

    I need to transition from short daily watering to longer sessions, less frequently. I am mowing long and our lawn looks better than our neighbor's lawns because they cut so short.
    Do you suggest a progressive switch to once-a-week watering, or should I make the switch more abrupt?

    • @TheLawnReview
