Hi Mark, Kawasaki is having a demo tour now here in the U.S., and I got a chance to test ride the ZX6R. I have three words to describe it: fun, fun, fun! It was fitted with an Akrapovič slip-on, and sounded great; not too loud. I think you would like it. I was a little concerned that the sporty riding position might be too much for my aging 6’ 1” body (I’m older than you), but it was pretty good. I did notice a little kink in the back of my neck, but didn’t feel any pressure on my wrists. The smooth power delivery throughout the rev band surprised me, and the quick shifter is sublime. I'm 6'2" and have an '18 636, and honestly it isn't the most comfortable. You have to remain quite mindful of your posture, especially when tucking fully. Absolutely love the bike and wouldn't trade it though!
Hi Bob I've ridden them all ,the ninja 636 is the one I chose because it's got more torque (pull) low down and still screams to the redline ,the r6 is very expensive new these days ,cbr600rr is awesome you can get a great used one for not too much ,I owned a 2014 model called a Leyla it was great lovely handling :)
Hi Jason the r6 is a super fast track weapon that needs to be revved hard to get the power from it ,I chose the Ninja because it has way more bottom end power which is very useful on the road ,it still has amazing handling and it's alot cheaper than the r6 new ,one test ride on the Ninja and I new I had to get one All the best mark

Great review. It's definitely a looker. Million dollar question. So far how does it compare to the GSXR 1000 K5 you had as you often mention it? You read my mind when I was thinking is he going to keep it? You said it was a keeper. How well does it turn in and change direction? We are similar heights so I might give it go soon. I have to admit I've never tried any Kwaka sports bike before. I reckon the ZX6R Ninja will do pretty well so all the other manufacturers will start making 600s again. It is a very good package and reasonable price. I'm waiting for Triumph to bring out the new Daytona but their response has been really pathetic saying it wouldn't sell. They say the R6 didn't sell that well so a new Daytona wouldn't either, but now Triumph is testing a new 765 Daytona in moto2? I wish they would get their bloody act together. To busy selling old retro duffer bikes. But going on your reviews of your Ninja I might give one of these a go instead. Still haven't bought a new bike yet. I was sold on the Speed Triple RS but then got side tracked by the BMW S1000R. Now it could be this one. Just too many good bikes to choose from. As you know it's not easy. I guess you don't really know until you have bought one. Is it possible to get it with a down blipper as well as up shifter? Have you still got the CBR600? Enjoy your bike! Thanks for posting.
Hi alex yes still got the old cbr, went out for a blast on it yesterday, ref turn in and change of direction id give it 8/10 but its the way it holds its line when your banked over is just amazing :) i havent seen a kawasaki option for the down blipper but that would be great if you could get that all in all a superb sports bike for the road with just the right amount of power thanks MP

@@arunpaul8801 you can do that but first option is lowering links for the rear suspension , basically two bits of metal that lower the rear shock ,it's not too bad a job ,I did it to my vstrom took about an hour and then you can drop the forks through the yokes say 10mm ,any bike shop can do this for you failing that you could take an inch out of the seat but it's thin anyhow good luck !

Hi mattt ,generally speaking forget about taking passengers on any supersports machine, the seats are generally the size of a postage stamp ,no grab rail, and very high ,its really not nice for passenger or rider, definitely go for a more all round bike or tourer if you plan taking passengers on a regular basis all the best with the lessons mark

I recently found that it is impossible to find even a 1980s sports bike with less than 40k miles and very good condition for less than 2k, searched through ebay, gumtree and auto trader.
Hi hands down get the cbr for all round use and commuting ,it will still blow your mind with it's power as a beginner ,the Ninja is a very focused speed demon :)
Thanks for the idea of used bikes video ,I have an old 90s bike that will be perfect !
What does the KRT edition mean? What does it have that the base model doesn’t have?
Hi Christopher ....it's just those colours ...that's it ....if you go for the performance model it has the akrapovic exhaust cheers mark
Hi mark, do you know when the first service is due? Done 700 miles on mine so far.
Hi Lisa it's due about 600 miles so Id say book it in now :)
@@markpulling12 thanks so much, do you still have yours?
@@lisahalls1386 hi Lisa no I had it for two great years ...sold it now
@@markpulling12 oh that’s a shame but as long as you enjoyed it that’s the main thing 😊
Nice bike own a 2001 ninja luv the bikes
hey mate just wondering your inseam, i ride the ninja 300 and can barely touch both feet on the ground and i'm 5'7 aswell. is it hard to reverse this bike at your height?
Hi I have a 30 inch inside leg and can nearly flat foot both sides on my 636 ,it's easy to reverse up for me all the best mark
How tall are you? Do you think 6'3 still fits on this bike? great review!
Hi thanks. Yes I'm 5 7 and fit well ,at 63 you'll be ok just maybe a little cramped but what a machine so don't worry :). All the best mark
I'm 6'2" and have an '18 636, and honestly it isn't the most comfortable. You have to remain quite mindful of your posture, especially when tucking fully. Absolutely love the bike and wouldn't trade it though!
you're too tall for sportbikes, these bikes are made for guys under 6 feet and under 200 pounds, if you have the experience get a 1000
did you say only 115 bhp at rear wheel? my zx-6r J1 does 125bhp at the rear wheel, did a dyno recently.
That's amazing power Steve ,is it standard or tuned ,is that the 600 or 636 ?
have you ridden the R6, Honda CBR 600RR, Gixxer 600 and if so how would this bike compare?
Hi Bob I've ridden them all ,the ninja 636 is the one I chose because it's got more torque (pull) low down and still screams to the redline ,the r6 is very expensive new these days ,cbr600rr is awesome you can get a great used one for not too much ,I owned a 2014 model called a Leyla it was great lovely handling :)
@@markpulling12 If you had the money would you take the R6 over the Ninja?
Would a person who is 6ft 3 in height struggle with comfort on this bike ?
Hi you'd be ok for short rides but my friend is 6ft 2 and he finds this uncomfortable after that
Cheers mark
Is it safe to say that this is the best 600cc as of now? 😂
Hi yes 100%,its way cheaper than a new r6 and has a better engine ,im still loving it all the best mark
Hi Mark
How would compare your ninja to say to a 2016 Yamaha R6?
Hi Jason the r6 is a super fast track weapon that needs to be revved hard to get the power from it ,I chose the Ninja because it has way more bottom end power which is very useful on the road ,it still has amazing handling and it's alot cheaper than the r6 new ,one test ride on the Ninja and I new I had to get one All the best mark
Do a review of Yamaha R6
no not really because its £2k more expensive ,and the ninja is a bit more powerful :) all the best mark
@@markpulling12 but do a review...
hello! how long can you drive on the zx6r until it starts to be uncomfortable and where does it hurt first? wrist, back or other body parts? thx!
Hi if your going 60/70 mph it's fine because the wind blast holds you up against sore wrists ,...after about two hours your bum goes abit numb but then most bikes do ....it mainly just isn't that nice riding slowly say 30_50 mph it doesn't really feel right it likes to be ridden hard ! :) All the best mark
@@markpulling12 thanks for the feedback! may I ask how tall you are? do you know any people who ride this bike and are 6 ft. 3-ish? this is my height. I test rode the zx6r, it didnt feel super comfortable but also not uncomfortable, at least not for the first 30 minutes. had a little bit of wrist pain, but it was mainly due to poor throttle control since I wasnt used to the power. but I cant really tell how how my height will be when riding longer and more often. would be cool if Im not the only tall guy riding this bike :) thanks for the tips!
@@omegapsi847 my best mate is 6 ft 2 he's ridden my bike for about an hour and that was enough for him but he is 50 years old if you are young you may get on better ....my mate rides a tuono and he's very comfortable on it so the super naked class may be an option for you all the best mark
@@omegapsi847 sorry forgot to say I'm 5 ft 7
@@markpulling12 cant thank you enough man, just one more question: I got the navi tomtom 500, is there any place on the cockpit to clip it on to? when I test drove the zx6r I didnt pay attention to the space, the tomtom doesnt need much place, but on the internet pics it doesnt look like you can click a navivation system anywhere on the zx6r, or is it still possible in your opinion?
Is there anywhere to put a usb port on the 2019 zx6r anywhere like the ninja 400 has? I’ve been looking all over online and can’t find anything
Hi Austin no sorry it hasn't got a USB charge point. Mark
Much appreciated mark, ride safe
I'm hooked now lol. Watching how to ride too.
Hey there, is this the KRT version? :)
Yes :)
@@markpulling12 thanks a lot for awnsering after a while though, couldn't find the version in the website, You got a new subscriber 🤟 how's the lady ninja going?
@@dajoaw hi great thanks but can't ride it too much at the moment we have lockdown here at the moment.. roll-on spring :)
Rear pedal??
Is it good for touring ?
not too bad ,ive done 200 mile days on this ..no problem ;)
Get a Black widow full aftermarket exhaust system, it's awesome!! www.blackwidowexhausts.co.uk/
Fantastic and congratulations. Im going to get one...
Nissin, not Nissan.
Great choice ...yes lol re Nissan I realized that just after I said it lolol
is it fine without steering damper?
Hi yes it's perfect ,they have got the handling so good it doesn't need it All the best mark
Hi alex yes still got the old cbr, went out for a blast on it yesterday,
ref turn in and change of direction id give it 8/10 but its the way it holds its line when your banked over is just amazing :) i havent seen a kawasaki option for the down blipper but that would be great if you could get that all in all a superb sports bike for the road with just the right amount of power thanks MP
Stiffer your suspension and you'll see how mutch better it turns in.Sold my 2009 repsol blade and bought 2013 zx636 tc,abs these bikes are really good👍!!!
Does the wheel come up under full power in first?
Sierra Nevada yes
Hi ,yes it does ! I was pleasantly surprised :)
Good to know it's got that fun factor 👍
Will you suggest this bike for someone with a height of 5'2?
I think it'll be too tall ,but I'm sure you could get lowered 30 mm which might help all the best mark
@@markpulling12 How it can be lowered? altering cushion?
@@arunpaul8801 you can do that but first option is lowering links for the rear suspension , basically two bits of metal that lower the rear shock ,it's not too bad a job ,I did it to my vstrom took about an hour and then you can drop the forks through the yokes say 10mm ,any bike shop can do this for you failing that you could take an inch out of the seat but it's thin anyhow good luck !
Just Google lowering kit ninja 636
Lust racing are good

Really mad you didnt go say hello to the cows in the beginning 😡
I'm having bike lessons atm and I love the zx6r but I want to now what is it this bike like for carrying passengers or do u recommended the tourer because some people have bin telling me look at how high the passenger seat is
Hi mattt ,generally speaking forget about taking passengers on any supersports machine, the seats are generally the size of a postage stamp ,no grab rail, and very high ,its really not nice for passenger or rider, definitely go for a more all round bike or tourer if you plan taking passengers on a regular basis all the best with the lessons mark

nice sled bro
love the specs.. but I don't like the fact that it looks exactly like the 400s. :( good review nonetheless. I am going to buy the 2018 zx6r :)
You look at it wrong, the 400 looks like the 636, that's an awesome thing.
F22 raptor for the road
636!
camera angle bad look like
Looks a little dated, the back end almost looks like it's from the 90's.
I've had this bike since February myself in black. I love it man. I've done a few mods also, aesthetically and an exhaust. I don't plan on selling. It's a Gem for the collection. Enjoy!
Thanks jon yes a totally awesome bike ,love mine :)
I bought the 2018 KRT Model - absolutely love it, put a double bubble windscreen and a Racefit Growler Exhaust on it and it sounds amazing! Enjoy mate :)
kilisidean_zx I bought 2018 as well and I’m not sure if an upgrade to 2019 is worth it. I wish I could watch a comparison review. I am enjoying mine but this has some extras that are attractive.
Looks a great machine. I’m currently looking at the z1000sx and like you from an adventure bike
Lovely bike , colour scheme is the best and iconic 💚
Mark, really enjoy your reviews which are knowledgable and very useful… but… can you stop prefixing words with “super” e.g. Super easy / Super perfect etc etc. the words don’t need “super” added to them e.g. perfect means perfect! It’s an Americanism that is pervading our language and meaningless. A lot of people do it nowadays… aargh! Keep up the excellent work 👍
What do you think about color dash with app, IMU, and down blipper on quickshifter for the 2022 model year? 🤔
Hi ray ,im sure it will be a good upgrade ,as long as the price doesnt rise too much :)
Gosh .. now I kinda want one 👍. Only thing I'd add would be stainless lines and they should be standard.
Try and demo one if you can :)
This will be my next bike!
Excellent choice ,. I love mine :)
I got the 2020 one. Black. With metallic flake. Little red and white.
Have you still got the bike ? If so how’s it been, what mileage has it got now ?
Hi no sold it a couple of years ago ..into naked bikes now ...but these are amazing one of the best supersport 600s

Do you still own this bike Mark? I'm looking at bridging the gap between a couple of RE Classic's and a Hayabusa 😂 At 52 I should know better but hey, one life. I'm considering the new model released in October. Just wondered if you enjoyed the bike throughout your ownership. Cheers.
Hi no I sold it a couple of years ago but had a fantastic time on it ... amazing machine stunning engine....id definitely say get one ...it's reasonably comfortable for a sports bike . Best Wishes mark
