Lol. “Vanilla’s never ruined anything” thinking of the time my roommate made Mac ‘n Cheese with Vanilla Almond Milk 🤢🤣
Oh no! That sounds horrifying!
I made mash potatoes with vanilla almond milk once 🙃
Hahaha I’ve done this before too 😂🤣
You have to have the white cheddar cheese Mac & Cheese to use the vanilla almost milk.
i did that a few times years ago, it sounds worse than it actually is. it tastes normal lol
I love how unedited the cooking portions of her videos are. It's comforting, funny, and relatable.
Okay, but the other difference between weekdays and weekends is the availability of time. “Comfort foods” can take longer to make. So yeah, my weekday breakfast is a Larabar and my weekend breakfast is an egg scramble with home fries and a smoothie. Because I don’t have to be at work by seven thirty on the weekends.
Such a good point! Time can definitely be challenging
This talks to me when I see the crepes, precisely. We do crepes every Sunday morning. It takes 2 hours to get ready for the 5 of us!
I was coming on to say the same thing! My food at the weekend is way fancier and more fun because I have time. Also from a financial point of view, I tend to treat myself a little more with coffees or nice meals out at the weekend because I budget for that. Oh and more treats at the weekend because I might see friends or go to the cinema or something. Deffo can be a red flag for some people splitting eating habits like that but it is a very nuanced point.
I get where coming from an ED recovery perspective hearing weekend/weekday would automatically trigger the whole “cheat” viewpoint. But for others, including myself, “treats” do not equal “cheats”. It can be from a time perspective, a budget perspective or for myself a fuel one. I am much busier on the weekdays. While I acknowledge the emotional connection we have with food and meals, from birthday cake to holiday meals, if I eat meals or drinks loaded with sugar or carbs I run sluggish and crash. I will eat more lean proteins, leafy greens, etc. during the week. If I have a chicken parm and a glass of wine for lunch, I wanna nap. The same goes for sugar laden coffee drinks. the coffee doesn’t crash me the sugar does.
Abby thinks everyone has an eating disorder and can’t control themselves just like her so she says this about everything
So you ate like Swift but Taylored to you?
MIC DROP
That's sort of the point of these videos, inspired but w changes for different reasons depending on what abbey wants to focus on (certain wellness culture issues, making sure it's enough, etc)
@@actgirl1234567 I think you missed the point of this comment. They’re making a joke by using her name as a pun
@@mollie.28.15 ☺ aha I see it
It’s kind of just bullshit.
Can I just say how I love that you give but don't give a fuck about food. I love how you have so much empathy and understanding when it comes to the roots of eating behaviors yet you don't treat food as life or death when it comes to ingredients or fun foods. I've literally binged like 3 hours of your videos in one sitting. Thank you for helping normalize some of my anxieties and validating some of my own personal thoughts on having fun and healthy relationships with food. Subscribed
I think a lot of why she had empathy for eating behaviors is because she had an eating disorder
YES
she doesn’t let food control her life
I loved the moment “you can make your own pesto, but…. Mama doesn’t have time”
i felt so bad watching you trying to make her breakfast! the food she was describing is actually a “galette” as its buckwheat flour and water. the batter should rest for several hours or even overnight before cooking
and usually the pan is brushed w butter and cooked over a low heat, as high heat causes it to break
cheese eggs and hame are add into the middle after being flipped and then the edges of the galette are folded over to make it a square shape and leaves the middle exposed so you see the food in the middle….yes very painstaking😂
I know I was dying 😂😂
ua-cam.com/video/xXFD2YRSI48/v-deo.htmlsi=Kfxo_rFwuIewHO1E
Now I understand! And now I am craving a galette.
It was so painful to watch ^^
wow I never even heard of a gazette before
For the crepes you gotta use a flat pan and way less batter, you spread with moving the pan. You flip it when the batter is almost not wet anymore (happens really fast) crepes are usually very thin:)
Thanks for the tip!
@@AbbeysKitchen also hot pan first and atleast 1 egg in the batter
kinda also doesn't help that the crepe was gluten free!
My thoughts exactly.
Yeah pan needs to be hot so it seals the bottom side
For me the “weekend structure” kind of works. I don’t crave “naughty foods” often but this helps with a kind of 80/20 for me. It’s not strict at all. But leaves me more relaxed. I think it depends on your mindset around food.
I try to limit eating out to once a week. I don't consider it a "cheat" meal or day, but I do it for budget reasons. If I did not put a limit on it, I would probably order out every day and lets be honest, that adds up quickly :) I love the new format for your what I eat videos! Taking what they say and Abbeyfying them, its given great inspiration to do so to my own meals at home.
😊
Buckwheat crepes are also known as Galettes and are very often served with cheese and ham for lunch/dinner in France. A delicious quick lunch!
Yumm
In Belgium, baked with thin-sliced bacon and served with Apple butter 🤤.
@@michellevandenborne4480 mmmmm one of my favorite meals I’ll have to go try it some time
@@michellevandenborne4480 that sounds so good...now i'm hungry lol
Sounds so good
I love you Abby Sharp!! I am 65 and still f*****G alive after a 50 year battle with an eating disorder....I have done it all. I am in recovery now and trying to manage non restrictive eating in this world of diet culture we live in. Trying to find joy in the little moments between the yelling of not good enough in my head....thank you mom. I have seen Taylor's documentary and found it interesting and was impressed with her honesty. I enjoy your videos very much. I also had 2 boys who survived my crazy ways pretty well thank god. Keep doing what you are doing!!! well done.
Are you recovering going with the “All in”… unrestricted free eating?
I love Becky Freestone, Elise, there some amazingED coaches on this platform that help alot! Im going to be 50 and been battling anorexia since I was 13😢 I want full freedom and food recovery bad!!! Its so hard! Im but Im praying 🙏🏼 I can go all in again! ❤ good for you!!!!!! I pray 🙏🏼 your still doing well!🥰😇👍🏼
WOW is this sadly and frighteningly relateable. Her words in the beginning were literally my exact thoughts/beahaviors. I want to hug the younger me so badly suffering and in denial. SIGH. thank you for covering this Abbey, and as always with gentle analysis and approach.
It could be argued that I do the healthy-during-the-week-cheat-on-weekends thing because I make all of my own food during the week (and track what I eat bc I'm around food constantly at work and will eat mindlessly all day otherwise) and generally prefer "healthy" foods; then on the weekend I'm more likely to go to a restaurant, have friends over fir a meal, etc., so I'm less likely to track those days and am likely to have things I won't have regularly. But it's not about restriction, it's just the way things work out.
Thanks for sharing this! Intention is always key and balance looks different for everyone❤
Wow this is me. Do we live the same life?
Thank you so much for your "I am worthy" statements at the end - I needed to hear that. Love the authenticity of these videos!!! Keep it up 💗
I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It has been a nice way to get new recipe inspiration. I’ve definitely incorporated the adding Greek yogurt into chia pudding hack from a prior video. Love it!
I love your energy Abbey! You're just so genuine and silly. I love it! I kept smiling throughout this vid! 😊
i love it so much how much you want people to have their own healthy relationship with food. You really inspire me
Just discovered your channel and what a delight! Look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for being entertaining while educating us!
I hear what you did there Abbey! Loved all the song references! That sandwich looked amazing!!
I really liked this video, I struggled before with an eating disorder, and I feel Taylor.. recently I became more aware of my body and how I eat .. and guess what? I have never been healthier before; I have more energy, and even my workouts have been way better. I feel lately I eat more, and my body is in a shape where I want it to be .. god bless you, Abbey on how you educate us to be on the right journey
Ah so good to hear! I have a similar journey....
First time watching one of these videos and I absolutely love this content. So Different and I’m all here for it!
Just found your videos and I've been bingeing--- your videos. Lol. Love your chats on disordered eating as someone who grew up in a diet centric home, this is so amazing. Also love to see your recipes! Thanks so much!!!
I adore you. Thank you for always putting out awesome nutrition information
As some others have already said, for me the difference between week days and weekends are time! I prep my breakfasts and dinners for the week because I work. On weekends I usually have more time to make things like pancakes! And as for the “skinny latte” I prefer my drinks from Starbucks to be made with skim milk and only 1 or 2 pumps of sweetener. Not because it’s “healthy” but because that’s how I prefer it.
ughh I love ur channel so much, im on a food healing journey and your videos have been helping me change my mindset when it comes to food. I really appreciate the great content and realistic ways of eating.
I'm doing a Health Psychology MSc at the moment and I got so excited when you referenced a study I read! 😂💃💃
So exciting!
Loved watching this and the little tips you offered (like subbing butter for oil)!
Also, for the record, people don’t only run to be ~SkInNY~. For some people running is a savior from depression/anxiety/ and all sorts of other mental health-related struggles.
I didn’t even watch the video, but omg, now we’re not allowed to run because it means we’re trying to be “skinny”? I love running as do many people, exercise is good for your physical and mental health.
@@smeek794 Same, I love it! So much fun to go for a nice run in the woods for an hour. It’s perfect for both mental and physical balance, we’re literally born to run (and walk), not to sit around all day, and you can get out in the nature and be free of all the everyday stress. And it’s amazing to see what your body can do.
Most people who run do it because they enjoy it, others quickly stop. It’s a great, healthy habit that’s a lot of fun to me.
@@Diana-qp2rw Agreed! Most other runners that I know do it because they enjoy it and/or they are training for something. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying exercise, having goals, ambitions, etc. There are lots of exercises that I don’t enjoy but I don’t look down on people that do them.
This is me. I run when I am stressed, anxious etc.
@@smeek794 Do whatever makes you happy. Some runners are more curvy, I definitely was when I used to run.
Most of these sound really good! And I think if you adjusted the energy ball shaky thing it might work (imagine putting in freeze dried berries, adding some cacao in the mixture, maple syrup... Rolling them.
Also really appreciate her transparency. But I need to mention that I love adding lime juice to my water! Not because of some sort of health trend, I just always preferred the taste of it.
The buckwheat crepes are MUCH easier if you let the batter sit overnight first! Also, use a 1:1 ratio of buckwheat to regular flour :)
You can use only buckwheat, we make galettes that way which honestly sounds like what Abbey is making with the savoury toppings.
Just stumbled upon your channel while looking for vids re: taylor's diet choices. Low & behold, up pops your video. I came for for Taylor but stayed because of your uncut wonderfully brutally honest approach. 🤩
This video was so awesome! I’m such a Swiftie, and I immediately clicked on this vid! Thank you so much for your hard work! ❤❤❤
Hey Abbey, love your videos! For the crepes i was telling you thru the screen "it's too much batter" haha next time try with less batter. It's actually pretty delicious😋😋
❤❤❤as someone who is struggling with disordered eating habits your empathy and first hand experience is so refreshing! Thank you so much for your content and I hope to watch more of your videos!
Good to mention that the article she's basing this video on is from 2012!!! 22 years old Taylor, and also very different times- things change. I had to check after the "binge food" mention, cause that's so 2010.
another explanation for "weekend/weekday" food can also just be about how it makes you feel. I'm probably not going to have fish and chips for lunch on a day when I need to be productive, but I will if relaxing afterwards or even taking a leisurely walk is an option.
I loved this video. I love to see together two of my favorite people in the media :)
Aw thanks🥰🥰
Wee tip that I do for measuring the dry ingredients, use the cup measure to scoop the flour, sugar etc. Out of the bag. I pop it in, scoop a heap of the flour and use the inside of the bag to like level off the flour 😊
That’s less accurate though because the flour gets packed into the cup
The difference between weekdays and weekends meal for me is the morning after. I don't wanna wake up on a Thursday feeling heavy and slightly constipated or worse the opposite. Whereas I can afford to delay my bowel movements on a Sunday morning. It's really down to the next day morning aftermath for me 😂😂 it's not even about calories or money because I mostly cook at home even if it's a cheat meal kinda food cause I love cooking. Maybe Taylor has the bowel movement worry too 😅😅
You're definitely right about restriction leading to binging and week long variety creating sustainability, this is my second day off work and i have a ton of sweet options and genuinely dont want any of them atm lol, but yesterday i genuinely did want them so i had a poptart, a few of the airhead xtreme bites, and part of a slurpee from 7 eleven and i had no desire to eat a ton of it, i had what i wanted and put away the rest and didnt feel physically sick and wasnt upset at myself for it
I've been waiting for this!
This green and soft pink look awesome and fit your complexion really well!
I'm a french chef. This is a recipe from "Bretagne". There's a few errors here in the application.
First, this is not the right pan, you need a non-stick flat one. Also, your pan is nearly not hot enough, you need to reach almost smoking point basically.
You need to use a ladle, not a spoon, and move the batter around when you pour it with a circular movement from your wrist.
For the batter, this looks quite thick and dark. To make it lighter, let it rest for 30min, and add a bit of carbonated water. Give in a nice whisk to incorporate extra air into your batter before cooking it.
I suggest also maybe watching traditional recipes videos, not from America ;)
Never been this early! Can’t wait to watch this video Abby 👌🏽
Loving the metal music during the mixing of the pumpkin loaf!
Please reveal the lip color your wearing. This shade is on point. Brand and color. Thanks! As always, on nutrition.... Amen Abbey! Preach!
In Sweden the week starts Monday. And all weeks are numbered so if is common to her things like ”My summer vacation is week 27 to 30.”
i bake just like you and it finally convinced me to invest in a cooking scale lol because then you can just dump flour in the bowl and take some out when it's inevitably the wrong amount (plus no washing measuring spoons or get pumpkin stuck in the cup!)
I'm wondering if her "clean eating" during the week compared to "bad eating" on the weekends is because she has more weekend concerts thereby more cardio so she needs more calories and carbs for fuel. Basically she is calorie and carb cycling to keep her body in a maintenance state. If she burns lots of calories during one concert, that eating approach would make sense. Typically during the week she is on a bus or airplane or in the studio or interviews---less exercise.
I am one of those persons who tries to eat super "clean" on the week, and tries to have fun on the weekends. From my perspective, this has helped me be more organized with what I eat without feeling like I am restricting. Mostly because eating is an important part of socializing, and I like to meet up with friends and eat whatever (its not like a binge or anything crazy, but I will have a drink or two and maybe eat a hamburguer or sushi) and to be able to do this mantaing my weight and health, I eat more healthy on the week, but I never feel like its a sacrifice or anything. Just trying to keep it balanced.
No one wants the end?!? That’s always my favorite part! 😂 Love how you tell it like it is, keep the videos coming. They are my favorite!
Same here!! We fight over the ends in my house! 😂
I absolutely love your videos!
I really do love your videos. I am 53 and really trying to be kind to myself and get out of those "rules" and the all or nothing mindset. Like I really can eat something sweet and not feel like it will be my last.
I love Abbey’s excitement over coffee. SAME!
“I’m having this right before bed”
She says as the windows shows it’s bright as noon outside
Summer, Canadian latitude. Could be sunny and late.
Hey friends and fellow swifties - I know that title might sound like Abbey’s going to criticise Taylor, but it’s just clickbait (so more people can watch Abbey give some sensible advice about an important issue).
All her titles are clickbait and not actually what happens in the videos.
Would your life come to a tragic end
Also because of her lyrics “I’m the problem it’s me”
@@Msmithrdn Always.
Hopefully folks know that it's okay to criticise people, yes? That it doesn't have to be judgmental or combative or disrespectful?
Like, if Abbey had said "this doesn't seem healthy" I'd hope people wouldn't take that as an attack or a complete renunciation of her as an artist or person. Parasocial much?
Abby this reminds me I want one of your tricks applied to pesto, like the mashed been avo toast but for pesto to make it a bit more substantial and nutritious. Maybe for my birthday? April 03? Kidding, love your vids 🤗
I also kinda have a weekend/week day dichotomy, but that’s more because of the fact that I have more time to cook in the weekends. So during soup season I love making soup on the weekends. On weekdays I eat food that’s easy to make
I think it's very common to eat different food for weekdays and weekends.
On weekdays, there's barely any time to cook elaborate meals
She's so me when I'm baking, subbing different fats and sugars, and basically making the recipe my own! And yes! Vanilla has never ruined a recipe. Words to live by! 🙌
Love vanilla
@@AbbeysKitchenthree words... Mac and cheese.
Buckwheat crepe with ham and cheese is one of my favorite breakfasts! Here is a fail-proof recipe 1+3+3. 1 egg + 3 tbsp buckwheat flour + 3 tbsp milk.
As a swiftie, I'm offended on myself for only catching 12 song and not 13 :(
But loved the settle ones like Red, Mean and Out of the woods 😭
Love your videos Abby .. thanks
Thanks for this Abbey! Fellow HSP here and therapist who appreciates your approach to food and relationship with food and mission to help others recover from their EDs and find more freedom!!
Yessss, Taylor deserved a 40 min vid :D.
Are you ready for it?!❤
Oh my god, I am laughing so hard!! I am from Spain and I do exactly the oposite. When a recipe calls for butter I use sun flower oil or olive oil, because I usually don't have butter on hand, but I do have oil at all times. Plus, because here butter is no big thing, I don't like how it tastes in recipes. The cultural differences always amaze me. Kisses from Spain
I live in Italy and it's wild how villanized butter is here. My mother-in-law refuses to eat any recipe I make with butter, so I modify when possible. It's funny too because it's not like I bake more than once month. 😆
@@singlehandedbeauty3581 see? I think all the south countries in Europe are the same. But, hey, we have the best oils in the world, right?
@@MssBilitroque True! A good oil will definitely allow other ingredients and flavors to shine. I do still love butter in specific recipes though.
Probably why you guys are thinner than us Americans. 😂
I love the drums, the one guitar lick and the final drum. girl you missed your calling!
I loved this video and i love your personality. Just being real
Ahhhhh!!! Abbey Sharp and Taylor Swift!! My evening is made
Love the red lipstick! Gorgeous!
For Swift shake 👋 and to get the most benefits, it’s best to eat ground flax seeds, whole flax seeds have a tough outer hull that keeps them from breaking down in your digestive tract.. I made it right now, I ground the flax seed and made it into a energy ball..❤️ 💯
Hello Abbey, I was diagnosed with histamine intolerance lately, I was thinking if you could make a video reg. this topic with maybe some recepies? I and for sure also other people / mostly ladies would be greatful as well. Pretty please and thank you!
I make pancakes in my large sized toaster/oven air fryer combo. I takes the stress out, and the timer turns the oven of, so I don't even have to watch them. I bet it would work for crepes too. You have to heat the pan up nice and hot first.
I love making sheet pan pancakes too🥰
Great tip!!
I do the weekend thing because I literally just work and tote my child around to extracurricular activities and work out during the week. The weekend is the only time when I can get together With my friends or want to have a drink.
Well to be honest I do have some "weekend treats" like getting an outside coffee instead of homemade not for the health benefitis but because it gives me a reward feeling for finishing all the work and because this way I don't just get bored of my favorite things and they remain a treat. Like for example if it is a PSL if you have it every single day you will start liking it less then having it as a special treat. And I would hate thinking of my current favorite ways of spoiling myself becoming boring and loosing their appeal
😂 sooo relatable , crepes are so hard to make, I even have a special pan for it, also, you need to let the mix sit for a while which means I. An’t be spontaneous about it ! Love the content
I love your videos but when I saw you pouring soooo much batter on the pan when making crepes (btw aren't they called galettes when they're made of buckwheat? In France they differentiate...) I was literally shouting at the screen :D
the buckweet crepe is actually french (Breton actually, from Brittany) we do that but we don't put it like a burrito lmao it stays flat and everything melts on the crêpe in the pan
I love the way you say been, as “ bean. “ ❤❤
I feel like every time I make crepes they turn into pancakes. Definitely learned to use less batter and you absolutely have to be patient. I think I used an aunt jemima or I guess now its Pearl Milling Company... anyway I don't eat them very often but they are a nice treat.
Gotta love all the songs references :D (also red lipstick? We see you) Love the video!! thank you for sharing
Oh sweet. Wait until the crepe starts to curl at the edges. You can push on the edges slightly and move the batter into the space. This will help it cook more and pushing on the edges will help you see I'd they are cooking as that.part will pull away from the pan first. Do not turn it over until the whole crepe slips in the pan, it should slip enough that you can flip it in a throw. However, if you aren't confident you can slip a cooking tool under and flip. It shouldn't be hard to get it under. If it's sticking it most likely needs more cooking for it to be able to hold its shape. Butter on the pan is good to ensure it slips well. Hope this helps anyone. Cook on the other side until it too slips in the pan and it is done. The second side will take less time so don't burn
Good luck ❤
I have those same mixing bowls 😁 love them!
The pistachios on salads for crunch is a new found favourite
I clicked on your video randomly on my home page to listen to while I was cooking. I stopped dead when you introduced yourself with my name! 🤯😂
Can we get the recipe for that pumpkin loaf?!? 🙌
Yay new video!
I can’t believe in all my years of watching UA-cam I never discovered you! You’re a breath of fresh air and love your humorous content and the low thrills take on weight loss. Can’t wait to learn more and laugh from you!
The butter swap is great for if you’re swapping in a gluten free cup to cup flour too because the gf flours tend to be a tiny bit drier and the extra moisture from the butter fixes that
Your pan/the butter needs to be piping hot before you add the batter!! That will make it not stick, and also crisp up. :)
This video is so good!! I had no idea she struggled with an ED. Ive made crepes a few times from scratch for desert, and that crepe recipe looked very odd, I’m suspicious lol. I don’t think that was your fault, I don’t remember ever putting any levener in my crepes?? I wonder why that’s in there? And it feels like there’s a few other ingredients missing. Anyways good on you for trying!! ❤❤ but some recipes are doomed from the start 😅
This makes me so sad...Taylor is absolutely beautiful and for her to feel not beautiful or incredible is so sad. Sending warm love to Taylor💗💗
Abby, your makeup/hair/outfit look very good in this video. Cheers to that!
Isn't it just about routine? I mean, I don't enjoy having a more structured routine during the weekend, so it's the perfect time to eat whatever I feel like whenever, whereas during the weekdays my mind is more set to having a schedule and eating healthier fits more into it, as I can meal prep and stuff.
Thought provoking.. thanks! Would love to see you eat like Prince for the day! :)
I play dungeons and dragons with my adult kids. This pumpkin bread is what we call chaos cooking. When they come home they ask for my specialty: Chicken What the Hell( grilled or sautéed chicken with whatever sauce I can throw together with whatever is on hand- grilled or caramelized onion and mushrooms with who knows what).
Learn the basic methods of cooking ( not rules) and go to town looking to mostly balance a huge variety of healthier choices . All the colors, textures, temperature & flavors. Play in your food when you can. Have completely ready things on hand for when you need a meal or snack asap.
I am an old ballerina- I did have food issues in my teens, married a man who lives for junk or Atkinson, no balance. Now that I am on my own I treat food like my artwork- what tastes best, what works best to keep me going, what makes me happy. For me that means variety. Sdifferent beans each week. A few staple vegetables plus something I haven’t had in a while. Bulgur, pasta, potatoes, polenta, and rice rotation as seems easy. Thank you for being You Abbey
Seeing you add the spinach to the ham wrap made my day.....I live off Ham and Spinach Sandwhiches and everyone I know calls me a weirdo🤣
My fave thing ever was a place in the mall i worked in in my early 20s. They had a spicy ham and spinach grilled wrap with honey mustard. I legit cried when they took it off the menu
That opening with Taylor, that is how I feel. Even after 7 years of therapy and healing, I still feel like that. Every. Single. Day. --- IDK if you can ever really heal from an ED based dysmorphia.
You need a hotter pan for making the crepes. They're going too slow. You also need a short sided pan to make flipping easier.
Edit: You also need a hotter pan for frying eggs.
I have been watching your channel for a while. How did I not know you went to culinary school?!?!
Abbey’s chaotic baking is hilarious, more of that, please!
Lol, haven't watch all the video yet, looking forward to not feeling alone in my own baking misadventures
