    Okay, but the other difference between weekdays and weekends is the availability of time. “Comfort foods” can take longer to make. So yeah, my weekday breakfast is a Larabar and my weekend breakfast is an egg scramble with home fries and a smoothie. Because I don’t have to be at work by seven thirty on the weekends.

      @odeaai Рік тому +31

      I was coming on to say the same thing! My food at the weekend is way fancier and more fun because I have time. Also from a financial point of view, I tend to treat myself a little more with coffees or nice meals out at the weekend because I budget for that. Oh and more treats at the weekend because I might see friends or go to the cinema or something. Deffo can be a red flag for some people splitting eating habits like that but it is a very nuanced point.

    • @heatherganey9527
      @heatherganey9527 Рік тому +22

      I get where coming from an ED recovery perspective hearing weekend/weekday would automatically trigger the whole “cheat” viewpoint. But for others, including myself, “treats” do not equal “cheats”. It can be from a time perspective, a budget perspective or for myself a fuel one. I am much busier on the weekdays. While I acknowledge the emotional connection we have with food and meals,from birthday cake to holiday meals, if I eat meals or drinks loaded with sugar or carbs I run sluggish and crash. I will eat more lean proteins, leafy greens, etc. during the week. If I have a chicken parm and a glass of wine for lunch, I wanna nap. The same goes for sugar laden coffee drinks. the coffee doesn’t crash me the sugar does.

    i felt so bad watching you trying to make her breakfast! the food she was describing is actually a “galette” as its buckwheat flour and water. the batter should rest for several hours or even overnight before cooking
    and usually the pan is brushed w butter and cooked over a low heat, as high heat causes it to break
    cheese eggs and hame are add into the middle after being flipped and then the edges of the galette are folded over to make it a square shape and leaves the middle exposed so you see the food in the middle….yes very painstaking😂

    It could be argued that I do the healthy-during-the-week-cheat-on-weekends thing because I make all of my own food during the week (and track what I eat bc I'm around food constantly at work and will eat mindlessly all day otherwise) and generally prefer "healthy" foods; then on the weekend I'm more likely to go to a restaurant, have friends over fir a meal, etc., so I'm less likely to track those days and am likely to have things I won't have regularly. But it's not about restriction, it's just the way things work out.

    I'm a french chef. This is a recipe from "Bretagne". There's a few errors here in the application.
    First, this is not the right pan, you need a non-stick flat one. Also, your pan is nearly not hot enough, you need to reach almost smoking point basically.
    You need to use a ladle, not a spoon, and move the batter around when you pour it with a circular movement from your wrist.
    For the batter, this looks quite thick and dark. To make it lighter, let it rest for 30min, and add a bit of carbonated water. Give in a nice whisk to incorporate extra air into your batter before cooking it.
    I suggest also maybe watching traditional recipes videos, not from America ;)

    I'm wondering if her "clean eating" during the week compared to "bad eating" on the weekends is because she has more weekend concerts thereby more cardio so she needs more calories and carbs for fuel. Basically she is calorie and carb cycling to keep her body in a maintenance state. If she burns lots of calories during one concert, that eating approach would make sense. Typically during the week she is on a bus or airplane or in the studio or interviews---less exercise.

    I am one of those persons who tries to eat super "clean" on the week, and tries to have fun on the weekends. From my perspective, this has helped me be more organized with what I eat without feeling like I am restricting. Mostly because eating is an important part of socializing, and I like to meet up with friends and eat whatever (its not like a binge or anything crazy, but I will have a drink or two and maybe eat a hamburguer or sushi) and to be able to do this mantaing my weight and health, I eat more healthy on the week, but I never feel like its a sacrifice or anything. Just trying to keep it balanced.

When a recipe calls for butter I use sun flower oil or olive oil, because I usually don't have butter on hand, but I do have oil at all times. Like for example if it is a PSL if you have it every single day you will start liking it less then having it as a special treat. And I would hate thinking of my current favorite ways of spoiling myself becoming boring and loosing their appeal

    Oh sweet. Wait until the crepe starts to curl at the edges. You can push on the edges slightly and move the batter into the space. This will help it cook more and pushing on the edges will help you see I'd they are cooking as that.part will pull away from the pan first. Do not turn it over until the whole crepe slips in the pan, it should slip enough that you can flip it in a throw. However, if you aren't confident you can slip a cooking tool under and flip. It shouldn't be hard to get it under. If it's sticking it most likely needs more cooking for it to be able to hold its shape. Butter on the pan is good to ensure it slips well. Hope this helps anyone. Cook on the other side until it too slips in the pan and it is done. The second side will take less time so don't burn
    Good luck ❤

    I play dungeons and dragons with my adult kids. This pumpkin bread is what we call chaos cooking. When they come home they ask for my specialty: Chicken What the Hell( grilled or sautéed chicken with whatever sauce I can throw together with whatever is on hand- grilled or caramelized onion and mushrooms with who knows what).
    Learn the basic methods of cooking ( not rules) and go to town looking to mostly balance a huge variety of healthier choices . All the colors, textures, temperature & flavors. Play in your food when you can. Have completely ready things on hand for when you need a meal or snack asap.
    I am an old ballerina- I did have food issues in my teens, married a man who lives for junk or Atkinson, no balance. Now that I am on my own I treat food like my artwork- what tastes best, what works best to keep me going, what makes me happy. For me that means variety. Sdifferent beans each week. A few staple vegetables plus something I haven’t had in a while. Bulgur, pasta, potatoes, polenta, and rice rotation as seems easy. Thank you for being You Abbey
