      Corn, mixed vegetables, peas, and carrots are the only frozen vegetables I buy. Everything else must be fresh, because the texture is off putting for me when it’s frozen.

      And they’re frozen at the peak of freshness so most of the time have more nutrients based on the item and the time of year

    • @annalouiseplease
      @annalouiseplease Рік тому +37

      For me it’s a texture thing. Fresh veggies keep their snap and I like to undercook my veggies so they’re semi raw sometimes whereas frozen veggies feel too soft and sometimes slimy but I have resorted to frozen veggies when on a budget or making a quick stir fry type dish. Frozen veggies do have their place I just wish I wasn’t so hypersensitive to food textures for enjoyment

      Frozen veggies often get too mushy when cooked. Some are definetly better fresh.

I think it would be interesting to see what they're sacrificing to save on calories! I feel like I'd just sleep 24/7 with some celeb meals. 😐

      You've got a very low set metabolism. I had the same problem after having thyroidectomy, multiple pregnancies with wt gain & loss, & then hysterectomy. I ended up suffering an ED for several years. I kept my calorie count so low (400-700 most days) but it's simply unsustainable and led to multiple deficiencies & cardiac illness. I have had to rehabilitate my heart, lungs, EVERYTHING. I'm still in recovery, but I can promise you this, the answer for you is more ACTIVITY, lifting, and eating more. I know that seems counterintuitive, but I have lost 40 lbs and kept it off over the past year just doing those things. My energy levels have skyrocketed, motivation is returning and depression is lifting.😊 Even if you don't take any of my advice, find YOUR groove, the reason I'm thriving is because I listened to my body and found what worked for ME! Good luck🫂 ❤

    When you say you shouldn’t be limiting your calories to 1200 calories a day… do you mean any adult or are you just generalizing? According to the TDEE calculator based on my height and weight, my daily calorie intake should be around 1500, but if I’m trying to achieve weight loss, it would be lower (around 1200 calories?) I’m always so confused because I hear people saying 1200 calories isn’t enough all the time.

    • @charleys9417
      @charleys9417 Рік тому +5

      If you are very petite then it is possible that you might be on the lower end in terms of calorie needs. However, to have a TDEE of 1500 suggests you are either fairly inactive, or already at a fairly low weight and looking to lose even more weight likely wouldn't be healthy. Obviously I don't know you or your specific circumstances so you have to go on what is best for you, but I would be looking to raise your TDEE by increasing your activity levels rather than decreasing your calorie intake

      @@charleys9417 I’m a 37 year old female, 5’0” and 110 pounds. 1520 is my TDEE for maintenance with light exercise. I do yoga a few times a week, and a HIIT workout twice, but other than that my job is sedentary. I’ve lost 10 lbs since January, but wanting to lose about 5 more.

    • @charleys9417
      @charleys9417 Рік тому

      @@april5256 that makes sense, at 5ft you would be considered under average height so your calorie needs would be less than the general population, especially with a sedentary job. 1200 might be enough to cover your BMR but you would still want to be a little bit higher to give you energy for movement. You may be better trying to increase your TDEE by introducing more movement in your day (doesn't need to be intentional exercise, just increase your step count). For info, I'm 28, 5'4 and 127lbs (carrying quite a lot of muscle at the moment), and I do heavy exercise (weights, running, cardio or HIIT) five days a week plus one or two yoga session and aim for minimum 9k steps a day, so my TDEE comes out about 2,100 for maintenance.

      @@charleys9417 Thanks for the advice! I do walk 10,000 steps a day, but could try adding more HIIT workouts in the week. 1200 cal/ day is not necessarily too little for a Small adult. Ex . 5 foot and 110 lbs , someone who exercises 4 days a week, 1200 -1250 Cals is adequate for weight loss, 1lb/ week. A blanket statement is never good. I'm 5'7 and weigh 140-145 and eat 3500-4000 cal/ day and don't gain weight/ and relatively lean. You can't blanket statement to say that is too many calories. Ok I laughed at the comment about him saying "learn to keep it off for the next 10 days" because that's not what he meant, he just worded it weirdly.
    I have both read his book and done the diet. And while I'm not advocating for his method (cause it didn't work for me, personally), I do know what he actually meant to say...
    The first phase (which is 5 days) focuses on the biggest weight loss. Then phase 2 and 3 (the next 10 days) focuses on maintenance. So the better wording would have been "for the next 10 days, you will learn how to keep it off" (ie learn the maintenance strategy)
    But I'll admit that Abbey's interpretation is totally understandable, and also much more entertaining 🤣
