On the morning of Monday, 3rd September, 1894 - 34 passengers made their way onto a sail-powered boat that would, on a normal day, have taken them on a leisurely trip over to Grange-over-Sands, located on the north side of Morecambe Bay, Cumbria. But what should have been a day of fun and enjoyment, it would quickly escalate into a day of tragedy.
Departing from Morecambe promenade and the Princess Sailing Company Landing Stage at around 10 o’clock in the morning, the passenger list comprised of a large contingent of holiday makers who had travelled over from Burnley.
Out of the 18 who had travelled from Burnley, only 6 would survive.

Thanks for sharing this with us Chris. It was a shame that you couldn’t find the headstone you was looking for to pay your respects. Shame to hear about this horrific accident in Morecambe.
Cheer for that. Also, thanks for spotting the error on the grave numbers on the pamphlet! I just didnt notice myself but it makes sense now why we just couldnt locate the headstone.

To think it was all going to be another podcast about horror movies 😅 I'm glad we knocked that on the head and decided to take the plunge and go out to record sites of interest and retell people's past lives instead.
