Lens Flares: Into Brightness.
This comment is genius 👍
@jack ryan
Amazing
lol
Lens Flares is the new Stares.
Grab your sunglasses, kids!
I lost it at "heavily armed Apple store" XD
But, they're *LCD*!
**Retina™*
😂😂😂
It's so true though
I was literally about to post the EXACT same thing. Hilarious!!
"JJ Abrams star wars demo reel"
You know that is very accurate
100th like after two years. Congrats... 👍
Ouch.
Peter Jackson has said that he went visually over the top for LotR so he could get a shot at directing King Kong afterwards, specifically the Skull Island portion.
I could have gone my whole life without knowing that...didn't like star wars
RIP Chekhov you were a great actor
3:36 he they should feel pretty bad now
he was my favorite
Yeah ;(
He was my favorite :'(
+tybofborg same
R.I.P Leonard Nimoy. Never will you be forgotten, as long as geeks exist.
It's been 7 years and the lense flares gag is still hilarious😂
Okay I absolutely LOVE Star Trek 2009 but this was perfect. xD
Except for the "no one's favorite" part. Everyone loves Chekov! R.I.P. Anton
RIP QAQ
I am not everyone luckily 😁
The Lens Flare part killed me.
And even more flares
MROE LENZ FLAR!!!!!
Especially when they used the same music from the Twilight Honest Trailers regarding "stares."
Who didn't it kill?
Anyone knows the name of the lens flares theme?
Patrick Stewart could still easily play Picard in a reboot. He looks exactly the same as always!
He's a poop now.
Yeah... about that...
Good news he is going to be in a new series.
The star trek gods have read your comment and brought back Picard.
Funny you should say that...
I agree, too much lens flares and they're annoying
but
"NO ONE'S FAVOURITES"?
Even before Anton died, Ensign Pavel Andreivich Chekov is my favourite character...love everytime he show up...but he's gone too soon. :(
RIP
Sure Screen Junkies regret the "No one's favorite" and when they do Beyond is gonna be missed or something... Because he's missing... Get it? Because he died last year... Oh my god please don't ban me I have no friends :(
i kept calling him smol bean
I thought of him as an amazing Russian baby butterfly of excellence and he is who I got my good Russian accent from. I have loved checkov for at least 8 years.
Afrex same I'm still not over his death
Chekov is everyone's favourite especially when he says Nuclear wessel
"Wictor, wictor.." 😊😌
Alba Productions
I wike the wessel
That's what he is saying... thanks for the Russian translator. 5->
Thaaaaat's bringing back the childhood memories... in Alameda.
camera-guy: so ... how many lenseflares do you want in the movie?
j.j.: YES!
ALL OF THE LENS FLARES!!!!!!!
"And nerds go... *spock and uhura kissing* .. HUH?!" Lmfao.
Exactly
That was perfect
Me: Wuuuh?!!?
1 second later, honest trailer: Wuuuh?!!?
LOL. all the more funny cos its oh so true.
Spirk fans: *punches screen* I AM KHAN
@sweetblackblood1 cause its not the 60s and their romance was kinda outta nowhere.
0:32 Meet Nero.... Hello
Its me
+Kanok Pitiwatcharakul you're ... looking for
+Kanok Pitiwatcharakul was that a fnaf reference
Hi Nero
Hello!! - Sounds like ashens.
Perhaps the largest plothole ever to result in scene deletion, Nero was captured and held prisoner by Klingons during the years supposedly spent just drifting in space, but the scenes were deleted showing such.
I never thought about the possibility of Nero going back in time, warning them, and thereby saving his planet. Makes more sense than waiting on Spock forever. Btw, that "oh my" was funny.
really? I actually wondered the same thing - why not warn the planet and the Volcans of their mistake when everyone is still alive and well?
Because by going back to the past, they accidentally created an ALTERNATE TIMELINE... It's why Nero and Old Spock continue to exist even if they've changed so much. Get it now?
I was perfectly composed...up until he said "heavily armed Apple store". Yup, I was done following that XD
Three years ago: "no one's favorite"
he was never my favorite but I really liked the youthful attitude that he brought to the movies (always optimistic and excited )RIP
It was sad that the actor died but...his character was nothing more than a random math genius with Chekov's name.
He was never my favourite but he was an amazing actor and I loved him In odd Thomas
Butchzzilla I replied to this video 11 months ago saying "how dare you say he's no one's fave" so guess I'm one of the few who actually had him as a fave before hos death.
I loved him since 2011 when i first got into the movies.. a few months ago i watched beyond and i heard that he died and i was in tears for a day or two
So glad they found the dimmer switch for those lens flares in the 3rd movie.
...but it doesn't help enough.
But you can see a little bit more xD
Yeah it's called a different director LOL

One thing that TOS, TNG, DS9, and the movies did well is make it look like there is a precision and skill to space combat. The JJ movies just said fuck it lets throw as many glowing darts onto the screen as we can and hope it looks cool enough people won't realize there was no thought put into it.
Very true I guess he thought all space fights were the same as the ones in star wars
Valentin Cantu
I always say, J.J is a star wars fan who wanted to make a star wars movie but he was never given the chance so he settled with star trek and made his star wars movie.
Well, the last battles in the Dominion war were kind of chaotic.... but otherwise I agree with you.
The Abrams movies kind of crapped on everything fans liked about Star Treck and turned it into GENERIC SPACE ACTION MOVIE
@@SamJ.J.
That and their characterization rules for writing the OS characters seemed to be
1-Find a single trait that the character had( or, just one that they are known for whether they had that trait in the original works or not)
2-Turn said trait up to 11
3-Smile at your own genius.
I think Chekov was the only one who earned his position just by skill rather than all the other factors listed. Of course, I think being adorable gave him a little extra boost.
Zapp Brannigan. Captain of space apple store.
Lense Flare: The Movie (Now with 20% more camera shake!)
Seriously people, haven't we been working hard for the past 100 years of motion picture history to eliminate shit like that?
sirrliv i think those flares are cgi. So they're intentional.
Cosmic Bunny /wooooooooooooooshhhhhh
"how can anybody see on this ship?" xD SO RIGHT
"No ones favorite." Loved the whole video; hated that second WE LOVE CHEKOV OMG
Did you just call the russian for no ones fave. DiD YOU JUST
Yeah, I love Chekov too!
+Ane Cecilie Sirevåg Yeah, man. Chekov's my bro!
+Ane Cecilie Sirevåg Chekov's my favourited too!
(Chekov Love) vakia! 4 evah!!
Did you know quadrotriticale was a Russian invention.
3:36 Actually, he IS one of my favorites! He's so cute. :3
rip
Valentia Well he's ded.
literally ....
Furry Dude dead*
The Troll Killer no he's *ded
In honor of Leonard Nimoy say: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one
Just saw that he's gone. From the older movies I only watched the scene when Spock sacrificed himself and died. Those are such emotional moments.
what a commie.. hell no
so much hate in the conservatives... they always destroy the world.
A very true and logic statement.
"How long til they reboot The Next Generation?"
I've got some terrible news for you.....
Lmao
".... Unless you're William Shatner"
William Shatner's reaction: I'M CAPTAIN KIRK
Yakko Warner XD thank you for that
+Abree Lord That would mean I am William Shatner, because I hated the movie.
+Anna Kenyon you're welcome.
I must also be William Shatner. Aside from a few names, there is nothing Star Trek about this piece of ****
Chekov was and always will be my favourite character. Rest in peace Anton Yelchin. An amazing actor taken from this world too soon.
What are you talking about? Everyone loves little Chekov!
Yeah exactly he's the best
LynchTheShills Chekove was 17 when he was on Enterprise in the original series. What's troubling with this version of Star Trek is that the only people that are old enough to be on the Enterprise is Scottie, Bones , Cap. Kirk and maybe Spock. Sulu is too young to be on this ship as well as Chekov and Uhurha. Especially since Kirk is in his early 20s and in the series he was in his early to mid 30s.
Because that's his Punch Face, bro!
I almost coughed up a lung laughing at the Zapp Brannigan part oh my god
inorite
i was just like, finally, a reference to futurama
Whoever is writing the narration for these trailers has some serious comedic talent.
The Uhura thing is based on the noticeable attraction of Uhura towards Spock in the first episode of the original series
"How can anyone see on this ship?" LOL Yeah...the lens flares got hard to watch after awhile. But I still love the movie.
I must say this interpretation of Chekhov made me really like him.
Hahahahaha "the visionary behind starwars episode 7, and felicity" hahahahaha
I loved this movie, and the trilogy for that matter. And these trailers only compliment the audacity. I genuinely love it.
"Winona Ryder is still working?" is the best part. I don't remember the lens flares being this bad-but I saw Star Trek at the drive-in on a double-bill with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
This was pretty funny. It actually felt like a fair trailer. Probably the most HONEST you've done yet. Keep up the great work.
I love the music you used with the flares :) It reminds me at the stares from shovel face... and the ones from all the other pointless twilight characters.
Do you know the name of the music they used for the lens flares scene?
No, I don't. Sry
Marc Schefold It Is Called: "Great Ambition".
Once you notice the lense flares, you can't un-notice them.
Hey, I love Chekov! But yeah, those lens flares render the movie nearly unwatchable until you learn to finally ignore them. They're awful.
Chekov ftw
+The Phantasm I never noticed them until this trailer :)
Imb Students Bu once you notice them, you can't un-notice them ;/
+The Phantasm I never realise them
Yeah now the 'nobodys favourite' is kinda of insensitive joke to make
You read it on the Internet so it must be true...
FACT: Winona Ryder's character was killed off early because she was caught stealing from the staff lunch cart.
Hahaha
Actually?! OMG....
I wonder how many people actually remember the basis of that joke....who are old enough to.
"Tic Tac Eyes, Tan Mom."
XDDD
I occasionally come back here for them lens flares
Grounds Keeper Willie LMAO
you know what this movie needs?
more lens flares
Cow bells hadn't been invented yet.
@@dingfeldersmurfalot4560 LOL
The theaters would have to hand out welder's goggles.
FREAKING LENSFLARES
"Oh, Winona Ryder's still working?" My thoughts exactly when I first saw Stranger Things
JJ directing Episode IX
"I've got a bad feeling about this"
*"IT'S A TRAP!"*
This was so much better than the real movie ... thanks ... and it was free !
i agree
Was it a good idea to have the same guy direct the new Star Wars who also directed the new Star Trek? I don't really know much about sci-fi, but even I know that Star Wars and Star Trek fans usually don't like each other.
JJ Abrams is a Star Wars fan, that's why his 2 trek movies had no relation to Star Trek aside from the title and names, and why almost everything else is an obvious ripoff if Star Wars.
New Star Trek isn't sci-fi, its space-adventure-movies. Star Wars isn't sci-fi either it is space-fantasy. My guess is that the new Star Wars will also be a space-adventure-movie, basically original Star Wars without the mystical Yoda & old Obi-Wan stuff. Though I'm worried about them bringing back the original cast, they're too old now to be doing adventure stuff (no one wants to see Han Solo as a grandpa).
Well, he was on Star Trek before Star Wars. They thought it was a good idea to let someone who wasn't a big Star Trek fan to make a movie to appeal people who didn't watch Star Trek.
Andrew Castello And therein lies the fundamental problem with the whole movie. A true Star Trek fan understands that the show and original movies weren't about explosions, shallow, selfish characters, and more explosions. The characters are cerebral, logical, kind, and witty, but flawed enough to be relatable. I won't even start on what's wrong with "Into Darkness", as it would turn into a rant that would rival RedLetterMedia's "Star Wars" reviews.
Both new movies were simply action films with "Star Trek" slapped on it to put geek asses in the theater seats.
Agilemind i find it funny that now we got a new trailer of episode 7 and Han solo looks bad ass as ever. Then im seeing this and saying, you were proven wrong my friend lol
If they reboot nextgen, Tom Hiddleston needs to be Data.
YES.
OOOOOOOHHHHHH YES!!
meet nero. "hello!" lmao
3:29 you killed me with "Zapp Brannigan"....
"The Federation's heavily armed apple store" ! Amazing!
Chekov is my favorite.
Me tooooo :D
"Starring Zapp Brannigan," really fucking made me laugh so hard
"Spork" and "Old Spork" does it for me :)
LOL "Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry"
I remember going to see Into Darkness in the cinema, soon as they showed the bridge the first thing everyone around me was whispering was, wtf the lens flares again!
Abrams' lens flares are the new Twilight stares...
And yeah, I can't wait for the Next Generation reboot either (but they BETTER NOT let Michael Bay direct it). There's already a guy that looks like Data currently acting, but where are we going to find another Patrick Stewart, and which tough, black guy should play Worf?
Bryan Cranston obviously.
micheal bay directs the movie the next thing you know lens flares are replaced by exploding stars everywhere
There better NOT be a TNG reboot!
3:37, no one's favorite?! He's my favorite character in the series! By the way, R.I.P. Anton Yelchin.
I don't know why but I like this Chekov
I agree
heavily-armed Apple store! hahahaha
even more flares!!LMAO
The lens flare music gets me every time 😂😂 . Also, I've just realized they use that music for every funny redundant thing in a series. Remember the twilight trailers? 😂😂
Totally on target! I love these Honest Trailers!
In honor of Leonard Nimoy say: Live long and prosper
RIP OLD SPORK
I lost it at "Tan Mom".. laughter ensued.
Zap Brannigan phrase, Man! That made me laugh!!
Gerann Gerber did... did you think youtube is a formal website?
+Gerann Gerber Hello, allow me to be the first to welcome you to the internets. Never again leave your name at the end of a comment.
It is just the way I type, don't take it so personal!!
Dear Gérann
Stop.
Sincerely,
SMAA
God I hate lens flare.
+iooi Don't knock ALL the found footage films. There are gems in the turds, trust me!
Look up "Series 7" and "Chronicle" at least! First is a biting satire with the idea of "if we let ACTUAL reality TV shows KILL" and "what if the government partnered with Reality TV producers like in Running Man?" (contestants chosen by random Govt ID number I think), second is using cameras as a journal, sure, but when have we seen the SUPERHERO GENRE do it?
"How can anyone see on this ship?"
+Trent csqw the effect made enterprise come alive. Space is rather dark. Those lens made it look awesome
+Trent csqw Lol i love them it feel like they fit in perfectly with a sci-fi film.
You know why lens flares came about?
Firefly.
Why?
To look artistically like old westerns that couldn't afford decent camera lenses (1970s and earlier).
THAT HAD A REASON.
Star Trek uses them, but MORE POWERFUL ONES.
Why?
No reason.
GREAT, NOW WE CAN'T SEE AND IT'S ANNOYING.
A Nicolas Cage Honest Trailer would be EPIC!! Face Off!!
"Oh, Winona Ryder's still working?" Bet you feel stupid NOW! Lol.
Zapp Brannigan killed me!
If someone reboots TNG I will flip so many fucking tables!!!!!!!!!!¡¡¡¡
I will be there to help you flip them.
Forget about Ferguson race wars... if JJ lays 1 finger on TNG... there will be fires and looting all over the planet.
I bet patrick stewart could still play his young self tough.
Guillaume Théorêt Most likely, he still looks the same
So would you flip the tables in joy or anger?
gshunw ANGER
when the Twilight music started playing during the lens flare sequence... lol
@@bakoyma the music itself is not from twilight, he might be referring to the twilight honest trailer
I've always wondered where the ""eVEN more Staress!" joke came from
Never seen twilight so I associate that soundtrack with it because of the honest trailers lol
2:08 All the Star Trek aliens we all know and love? I think nobody likes the Borg Queen
DavidAtomic are you kidding me? The Borg Queen was hot!
Antonio Wakardo Forget her, dude. She downgraded the menacing factor of the Borg. You may have 7 of 9
DavidAtomic The borg queen was a important star trek charactar. But even if she did appear in this movie she wouldn,t belong there. Don,t forget the borg came TNG
DavidAtomic I love the Borg Queen.
I love the Borg queen!
Pavel, Montgomery and Leonard were always my favorite characters, next to Spock. The original cast made their characters amazing and lovable, and the new cast gave other awesome sides to their portrayals. So, yeah. No one’s favorite? Can anyone look at any of Chekov’s characters and not say HE IS MY FAVORITE? Damn near impossible, that. It’s like saying you don’t like cinnamon rolls.
Zapp Brannigan always gets me
Despite everything, I still loved watching both those movies. It was definitely worth it just to see all the Spirk fangirls' heads explode.
Fangirl forever ❤❤❤❤
Say "you'll never take my marshmallow charms"
Do you mean Lucky Charms?
Well that's what he says
I just rewatched this movie (for reasons you can all guess) and it holds up, the movie is great, the characters come across really well, and personally I benefit from being able to see Spock as Spock, not as the guy from heroes
THE LONE RANGER PLEASE.
At first I didn't realize the lens flairs were added in O_o
In the CGI they were - like the space scenes. But on the actual sets, they shine a bright light into the camera. I'm not even kidding. It's in the "making of" documentary. JJ Abrams is shining a bright mag-light into the camera. I'm totally serious.
***** omg :D
Freaking Zapp Brannigan xD
hahahha that cracked me up!!
My favorite part!
Crew: *_"How many lens flares you want Mr Abrams?"_*
JJ Abrams: *_" Y E S "_*
my fan theory is that these movies are set in an alternate universe and not the universe we have watched
Isn't that usually the case when time travel is involved?
that makes sence
Keith Fraser
If TNG never happened or happened differently I might actually begin to hate JJ Abrams forever. I never watched TOS but everything afterwards I've watched a whole bunch of.
erm, nothing is retconned. it /is/ an alternate timeline. a rather messed up one. both timelines exist in canon.
essentially, they didn't wanna reboot and copy the original story, so they just made up something that they could...copy the original history, but .. change.. erm. err.. uhh.. yeah..
Your right. However it starts in the mainstream universe and due to time travel alters history, creating another universe.
When someone turns on a lightsaber in episode 7 we are going to die from the lens flares(Lets hope we won't get epilepsy from lightsaber duels)
Well, it would makes sense, the weapon being made of *light* and *win* and all that. Not to mention it would explain why only a Jedi (or Sith) uses such a thing in combat...
He uses the force as sunglasses?
Theodore Kiminas Why not? Once Disney decided to throw away thirty years of exhaustive and though-provoking Expanded Universe canon for George Lucas' unedited ideas, it is now fact that the Force can impregnate a virgin woman, alignment-flip a Jedi because of ONE iffy decision (without any contemplation on the matter), and is only present because of pseudo-scientific magic disease BS.
"Force Sunglasses" is at least an interesting (and useful) idea and I sincerely hope that Disney's Episode VII completely destroys my low expectations of it.
Farscryer0 Hahaha I agree, however there is still hope,I mean nothing can be worse than epsdode 1,right?
Theodore Kiminas Episode 3, no contest. Weak sauce romance, lame reasons for becoming Darth Vader, and "Nooooooooo!"
Seriously, I tolerated Episode 1 only because of the years of anticipation, the epic lightsaber scenes, and Natalie Portman's hotness. Episode 2 left me hating Lucas but enjoying the clone troopers. And Episode 3 caused me to start smoking cigarettes, something I'm STILL trying to quit.
A pre-Stranger Things joke about Winona Ryder
"Why does Chris Pine keeps making the same stupid face whenever he gets punched" Oh gawd im in tears
Hey Chekov was amazing!!! I loved him 😂
So... I'm William Shatner?
I had no past exposure or affinity for the Star Trek franchise but recently watched both this & Wrath of Kahn for the first time. I liked the latter way more than the former.
Chekov is my sister's favourite.
