DB! I am an full agreement with your assessment of the new UNITY line of mouthpieces offered by David Monette Trumpets! I am blowin' the new Unity B2-7 mouthpiece and am thoroughly impressed with its performance qualities over the Monette Resonance Classic B2S3 that I've had since around 2016. For what its worth, I (personally) am not and have never been a fan of the Prana configuration, but this UNITY mouthpiece REALLY integrates all sound qualities I am seeking from my mouthpiece which, of course, is our intimate point of contact with our horns! Play on, sir!
Thanks for interacting on this post Bobby and I'm glad that your Unity mouthpiece is working out for you. Monette did some fantastic work putting together this mouthpiece. Keep in touch and thank you so much for the support. dB sends Love and Respect to you.
Thanks Mykhailo, I will be starting a series on this channel of me performing with my various bands that will eventually turn into live streams. Stay tuned and thanks for the support
Thanks for the review update DB. Yours have been among the few reviews of this mouthpiece around. I just received my Unity B6 three days ago and I love it! Every claim Monette makes about Unity being an improvement over Prana Resonance has proved true for me. (I have been playing the Prana Resonance B6S1 for a year and a half.) I really loved the Prana, but for me there was a pronounced change in resistance in the middle register, which made the horn feel a bit stuffy and something I was always conscious of. Well, no more; the resistance is consistent and efficient from low to high. The sound is even better-which I couldn't really imagine-the response quicker, the articulations cleaner, and the upper register fuller. I have finally found a mouthpiece that does everything I want it to!
First, thank you for the update, which is most interesting. My Unity B1-7 arrived here on Tuesday and I played it in a rehearsal on Wednesday evening. Yesterday evening we had our brass quartet session and I asked my friend to play the mouthpiece - frankly, it was jaw dropping - such a full sound and he played straight up to double C and nearly fell over in surprise. Then I asked him to play my Prana B14S6 and the Unity B1-7 while I closed my eyes to listen; I picked out the latter every time for beauty of sound and range. I feel that I have made a good investment in my playing, although the cost here in the UK amounts to £515 (USD 676) with the import taxes. Personally, it's going to take me time to adjust from the B14S6 to the B1-7 but I know that I'm on the right path.
Ruari, that's great to hear that you made the switch. The Unity is a great mouthpiece and worth the investment. Enjoy and keep me updated on how things are progressing with it. dB sends Love and Respect to you.
I love my Unity B2-7. Like you I wasn’t a fan of the Prana series before. I do prefer my old school STC B2 on my Conn Connstellation, but on my other horns I go with the Unity. What do you think of the Unity on your Schilkes? Thanks for the videos dB. JS🎺
Thanks for watching Justin. The Unity works great on my Schilkes, no issues. I've tried it on other horns in my collection as well and all is good. Keep in touch, dB sends Love and Respect to you.
It’s an excellent idea to do updates . It seems that your $415 investment hasn’t been wasted. Q: Is this now your main MP ? Q: In this particular scenario, which is more important? The Lotus or the Unity ?
Hi Jim, thanks for interacting. The Unity mouthpiece is excellent and is on the list of my top 2 mouthpieces to play. My main mouthpiece is my custom KK Trumpet mouthpiece. I believe that the mouthpiece is the most important thing. The horn is just the amplifier so the mouthpiece is most essential. Love and Respect to you from dB
Hello dB, quick question for you… when you chose your Unity mouthpiece, did you get the same size as your previous Monette mouthpiece? Or did you make a size change with Unity?

Hi Brian, I bought the size that was closest to what I play which is a Bach 8B. The B6M is the closest. 💯🎺❤️ to you.
