  • LOTUS Artist Ryan Kisor! 🔥🎺❤️
Here’s a longer video of the first moments that Ryan fell in love with our CLASSIC model.
Ryan is the lead trumpet player of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and one of the most sought-after players out there. He is renowned for his unbelievable accuracy, rhythmic feel and consistency. Another fantastic quality of Ryan’s is that he makes it really easy for others to play with him.
“Ryan didn’t miss a note In 2 full days (16 hours) of recording when we recorded the Essentially Ellington program. He’s the most accurate lead player I’ve ever heard. He’s a machine with soul!” says Todd Stoll, Vice President of Education at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Marcus Printup says: “Ryan sounds SO good on his new LOTUS Classic Model. Power, Soul, Range. He is the KING!”
In this video, you’re seeing his first notes on the LOTUS CLASSIC. This is a new trumpet model that we’ve been developing for over a year. Our intention is to create the best all-round and orchestral trumpet that we can. A trumpet that is as easy as possible to play. A horn that can be appreciated by Classical players, Orchestral players and Lead players alike. The CLASSIC has a one-piece Yellow Brass bell inspired by the Bach 37 shape. However, we have reinvented the geometry to give you an easier time with intonation. Especially the E and G partial.
When Ryan first tried the CLASSIC, he said: ”It’s weird. I feel really at home on it, like, right away. That’s pretty rare for me.”
We are now accepting orders for the CLASSIC model, and our production is going at full speed. We highly encourage you to reach out to your favorite dealer and tell them you want to try the LOTUS CLASSIC.
We will do our very best to get them out to you as soon as possible.

to be honest that guy's Bb is probably one of the best traditional Bb trumpets I've heard in a while, wonderful sound. liked the lotus too.

We have it from a very good source that Wynton openly commented that once Ryan showed up with his LOTUS Classic and LOTUS mouthpiece he gained accuracy, endurance and range.....AND stopped bringing a second horn to shows for his soloing spots. Don't know what else we can do top that comment coming from the master himself.

It made me smile when he chose the bronze slide. Ryan Kisor is my favorite trumpet player and I look up to his playing a lot and I used to take trumpet lessons with Jonah Moss and he would tell me how Ryan's sound is not a laser but more like a warm blanket that fills up the entire room with how wide his sound is. That's the type of sound I want to get and try to imitate in my trumpet playing. Ryan sounds amazing on these horns can't wait to hear what he does with it.

I prefer Ryan's trumpet. It sounds better although it gives the feeling that it costs a little more to pass the air. Perhaps the best Olds trumpet left alive.

the switch to the nickel pipe on the lotus is what sealed the deal -- incredible sound

Right..? It is truly nuts how much of a difference the alloy choice of the tuning slide matters. We used to mess around with a bunch of options on the leadpipes alloys and dimensions (I won't bore you with the details) but we've come to realize that the mouthpiece alloy and tuning slide alloy make a much much more immediate/quantifiable difference for everyone including Rapa. The are very simple options that do not require taking apart the horn or having to order a different model that GREATLY affect the "blow/feel/sound". Lead players are drawn to Nickel Silver, Orchestral players prefer Brass with a few liking Bronze. Jazz solo or players who live in a more flexible musical context prefer Bronze with a few liking Brass.

@@da11king when I was in my prime about 40- 55 yrs. I was fine but I only needed and the same goes today, a high C. I play sacred music and I always had great sound and now I’ve had braces and everything is lined up. I’m 72 now and it’s not so easy even though I’m in really good shape for my age. I’ll keep being patient and practice with good technique and hopefully it will all come together. Thanks for the reply!

Often the choice is between ease of playing and sound. Ryan’s horn sounds better. The Lotus seems like it’s the easier one but the sound is noticeably brighter. If all you do is play high notes in a commercial setting, then the Lotus might be the way to go.
