Diablo 4 has to be the most embarrassing game I've ever seen in the past 20+ years of gaming. It's a game that's trying so hard to be something that its not that it ends up creating the opposite effect.

Looking forward to seeing how the Microsoft Game Studio will handle the Diablo franchise after it's stellar treatment of their AoE franchise. AoE2 is still alive and well even though AoE4 is amazing and they just started revatilizing AoE3 and AoM.
Imo there is money to be made in D2R, give us chest slots, paid features that improve the game, new modes, new expansions, hell I’d drop a 99$ on a act 6 without hesitation
What they don't see is that I'd pay more for D2R patches, expansions or even a subscription, than I'd do for any other next "game" they release for the saga.
I really liked what was done with the visual update at least. If they could make it maybe a map/game editor that people can use to mess around with ideas of their own would cook up more interesting changes, don't really know
Mr Llama what do you think about blizzard changing stash tabs to 2 shared and 2 character or even swapping it to 1 shared and 3 personal? Would massively increase stash spare with the smallest of changes needed to implement.
If they added an expansion on the remaster I would buy it. D2R exp fixing some small issues, adding a few more pages of shared stash, rework magical, rare item charges, give a boost to crafted weapons, and a boost to unique items would be great. Finish the last 3 quests on A4. Give a new Mercenary (Warrior) to finish the trio of OG characacters. If they did that they can easily command a $50.00 buy.
It's funny how D2 has a larger fan base than D4, and as such ActiBlizzard has to stop any new development on D2R, and even D3 just to get people playing D4, and failing at the same time. In retrospective, I'd rather even go back and play D3 again over D4 if that was the only other choice, thank goodness D2R is still fun and for mods to make it even better. Not wasting my time with D4.
Just curious... How do you know D2 has larger fan base than D4? I'm not currently playing either of the 2 games (waiting for Ray Tracing to launch in D4 before I start it, got gifted D4).

You can't buy battlepass every 3 month in D2, you can not buy cosmetics in D2, they can not proper develop new expansions for D2 (VV team explained WHY), so you and me being 'fans' useless.
I am following your rpg and I hope it turns great. Also I think you should gives Last Epoch a proper chance and play it to end game, you might be surprised it actually reminds me of D2 more then anything, yes it's more modern but in a good way it a lot of things
Keep in mind tho that microsoft owns this now, and they've been adding content to age of empires 2 for decades now; they still pump out dlc for that game. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they give this thing some love once they settle in and sort out the more important stuff first (who knows how long that'll take tho).
I hope the D2 people are working on the Diablo 4 itemization update and will somewhat come back after that is done. Maxbe we will see them in a couple of years again.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Im just glad we got a remaster and they added a good amount of stuff to the game . I will always play it regardless
If they are going to put us in maintenance mode, then we should ask for things that would make maintenance mode enjoyable - give us the area level for every area (they give us this for terrorized zones, put it in the rest of the game), allow runewords to be crafted in magic/rare/unique items that will hold them (I really think this would be helpful for items to compete with Enigma and what the hell is the point of Rune Master???), give us regularly scheduled world events (recurring D Clone and an option to turn it off for offline mode). I think that ladder only runewords should stay ladder only, if only because it gives players a leverage point for Blizzard to update the ladder on a regular basis and maybe update glitches like hotkeys not being saved.
IMO it's good that D2 is in "maintenance mode". They left it in a bit odd shape with the Martial Arts assassin, unfortunately. But better that then adding more crazy junk It's not supposed to be a game as a service that's always updated. And we still keep learning about this game...
I'm saying they left it in the state it's in currently. It would have been better if instead it had been left in a state that included certain QoL features. I am disagreeing that it's 'good it's in maintenance mode' as it stands. They could have added simple QoL without adding 'more crazy junk'. That would have been good.

Most annoying part of last epoch that I can't handle - enemies popping from the floor EVERYWHERE. you can sometimes backtrack and still get ambushes by demons popping from the ground. it's so annoying and unpredictable spawn system (if they popped 2 screens from me - not a big deal, under my foot - hell no). I stopped playing it after 4 hours.
I know its unpopular to say this, but i would pay a sub for ladder if they kept good content coming, and standard could stay a one-time payment and receive few updates way down the road. TZs for instance, were pretty good.
I'd pay $100 if Blizzard let Llama and Coooley help a small dev team create new areas, adjust itemization, and items themselves, while maintaining pve/pvp balance

Hey llama, it sounds like the connections you had aren’t at D2 anymore, but if you do have them still is it possible that you can somehow pitch them some community ideas? Someone in the comments said it, and we all knew that D2R was a springboard for their D4 sales plan. That being said there is definitely work around to keep evolving D2. I’ve always said how nice it would be if the team from PD2 was in charge of resurrected. Senpai and the team push the envelope and honestly made d2 the funnest I’d had been for me since the peak 1.07-1.11 days. Their brilliance is on display with all the quality of life adjustment and new content they have packed into d2. I’m sure it’s possible to replicate it. I would honestly pay a monthly fee to play PD2 in D2R graphics. The idea of paying for diablo does hurt to a certain extent, but it is 25 years old after all. This season it’s with not uniques and a central focus on their amazing crafting system, sounds like a good damn blast. Just my .02

You mentioning Last Epoch has me wondering. What is the go to archetype you gravitate towards in ARPGs? I myself love summoners. I enjoy beastmaster and necromancer in Last Epoch. My first pick is almost always necromancer in ARPGs and if not that, its some other summoner class like Druid or Witchdoctor.

Rework the uniques, add new runewords, balance old runewords, think about some endgame content similar to ubers, jesus do anything
