Bike Test: 2022 Honda CRF250RX Review

- The 2022 Honda CRF250RX is pretty much a completely different machine than the previous 250RX since it now has the same all-new chassis and heavily revised motor that is on the Honda CRF250R motocross model. While the suspension is softer for off-road specific riding, it is still a high speed loving machine with great stability and hold up. The power delivery is mellowed out but also feels more torquey and usable down low. Not necessarily a con, but since it has the same close-ratio 5-speed transmission it isn't geared for super technical, slow-speed riding.

THANK YOU SO MUCH I LITERALLY SEARCH EVERYDAY FOR A REVIEA ON THIS BIKE EVEN THOUGH I KNOW I WANT IT. sorry for caps. Not really. Just excited.
It's an awesome bike, had it for 6 months, amazing
I want it soooooooooooo bad
Not one mention of the map switches and modes? 3 settings, change on the fly. One is suppose to be really mellow out the power and response for slower enduro riding. I cant believe u didnt review that! That is the biggest appeal to this bike is the ability to do track, trails, and enduro.
If honda makes a 350 offroad bike or a 300 that doesn't cost 12 grand I'm sold
Never will !!
The 250 motor is great. You can get a 290 or 300 big bore kit.
Red Moto makes a 300 kit for this bike, I think it's about $1200 for the kit and ignition mapping
I mean they have a crf300L but yeah it’s garbo. Something that is similar to Ktm/husky 350 would be the perfect bike for me
Ride a 22 model of this or an F,their low down power delivery is like a trail bikes.
Is it really that pink? or a sneeze during colorgrading?
I think of getting one, I am a leasure rider driving my current CRF 250L through woods and paths. I am ambitious and drive at maximum possible speed. I saw a matrix, though, that the RX is close to motocross and thus NOT engineered for softer/slower trail riding and not a leasure Enduro - what are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
they shoulda gave it a 6 speed!
Do the yz250fx
I'm old and slow, it sounds great for weekend recreational riders. It's kinda Pink though.
I think that may be due to editing of the video because my 22 250R at home is very red.
I've rode these bikes, RX and R, and I revalved the suspension on both of them. In tight rough woods, The suspension is too stiff for that type of riding. The fork valving is actually a little stiffer than the R model, and the shock valving is exactly the same on the R, so the bike does not feel good on rough rooty and rocky trails. With the big tank it also does feel heavier than the R model in tight trails.
Definitely, I had to soften up both ends on my RX substantially to get it to work decent on rocky terrain. Still had the same harsh spot as my R did on the forks. Will have the suspension redone like I did on my R.
@@nicholaswickwire3922 How much do you weight?
@@justonpreble4083 185lbs without gear.
The 2022 model is too stiff for trails? I’ve heard the suspension is softer on the 2022 vs the 2021
@@whiskeytango854 nooo, it's way stiffer on the 2022, I know because I work on the valving on the 2022's and all of the previous years bikes, and I've ridden them.
What's with the lighting on this video, sheesh, is this a pink bike or red, lol
Cool video! Gotta stay real on the color grading (honda red) though.
REKLUSE Clutch, no flame outs in tight tech hard enduro situations
Rekluse helps, but it certainly doesn't eliminate flame outs. At least not on my RMX 450. Another advantage though of a Rekluse, is when your bike does unexpectantly flame out, it doesn't lurch or lock up. With the Rekluse, it rolls along and you just hit the start button and keep going.
@@easternyellowjacket276 try turning up the idle some. If its carburetor bike try to avoid low rpm throttle chop.
Rekluse on my 22 rx love it. Old and need all the help possible haha
@@pmdracing Thanks for the tip. But its FI. I do run the throttle on it a little higher. Also geared way down to a 12/51. Be that as it may, when the bike gets hot, like all 4 strokes due, it will occasionally and without warning, flame out. The beauty of the Rekluse is the bike keeps rolling and can get it fired right back up again with electric start.
@@pmdracing Totally! I'm 55 and still riding. Rekluse is fantastic. Gives us more options. 😉
does this have a stator for electrical output for lights ?
TOP SPEED?
So how does it stack up to the others out there...
This guy clearly is up Hondas rear end as he won’t even mention other brands in this. He says “other Austrian brands”. They very much so focused only on where this bike is good. If you rode this on east coast/Midwest single track it just wouldn’t do what you wanted. Not say it’s not a good bike because it is! But the review has very narrow scope.
@@pbninja11 True. Though it sounds like the motor would be good in tighter tech with its mellower hit and more low end/mid range and torque. The tranny would be a detriment, as is the suspension.
👍👍 les Honda il y a que ca de vrai. #tchoups (videos honda)
What are some of your suggestions for bikes that do better in technical stuff?
I don't understand the Japanese mindset that won't get into the Enduro swing, why not a 300cc 4t & 2t 😢😢😢😢😢
Thanks for the review. Now I know it’s not for me. If I was out west…
Deciding to save for this or get the 250f, can’t decide
Just sold my f and bought the rx 2022 haven’t gotten a chance to ride it yet
@@kristianpeer4274 awesome! Let me know how you like it and which one you recommend!
@@kohln9582 just took it out yesterday. Obviously a lot taller which don’t bother me. I think it’ll be perfect in the trails after I add a cooling fan. We do a lot of slow riding in the summer. The fan is insurance. Seems a bit fast at first gear idle for really super slow riding. But clutch control is still very easy. The weight is awesome compared to the f. So much more power. So far I’m glad I made the switch. Don’t get me wrong though because the f is a absolute solid trail bike.
No kick start if u want one. 👎👎👎👎
