Considering that any car with performance and options and appointments is way more. Then adding total true cost after financing this is a budget build.
As an X308 enthusiast/collector, this is perfection....literally everything that's awesome in one car. Gated shifter, sharp 2 tone suede interior, awesome LS power plant, and most importantly, badass and by far the best Jag body ever built. I would give my XJR 100 and VDP/R for this car any day.
+TheSmokingire Yes it did, I own one. Mine is a 1998 Vanden Plas, although i blew up the motor due to an oiling issue. Unless this isn't an X308, in which case the amount of body work done is rediculous. Also, while the X350 did not have the wonderful hood ornament, it also did not have the 4.0 v8 as an option. And btw, awesome video, and awesome car, keep up the great work.

but that synchro means you wont be paying attention to the synchro cause you can safely bang shift every gear, basically all the time if you want so it'll be screaming all the time. Smart to not turbo it. Im sure its a bitch in traffic though.
Matt, It was awesome to get a chance to take a drive with you and show you what I've been working on for two years! I should clarify (since I'm already getting messages from people, lol): I misspoke, retrim of the seats was a few thousand (low thousands, rather than a few hundred), but the total "parts cost" for doing this project, including the car, was around or slightly under $40k. Of course, that does not include two years of sketches/dreams/nightmares/time/energy (I have notebooks from various work-related conferences and events with sketches of Jaguars on the back...), hours and hours put into this project by one of the best machinists I know (who made the shifter gate, among other things) and other skilled friends at the same shop, and does not include paintshop costs. Since the shoot, the plastic retainer piece beneath the shift gate has been identified as the source of the majority of the noise, which will get fixed, and the transmission itself is getting quieter every day as everything continues to break in. For the three who have already asked: Without question, this is the most fun project car I've ever owned. And I'm not selling, Matt, but I'll let you know if I ever do. :) Cheers, Karl
+Karl T. Muth Awesome car man! One of the most exquisite and unique I've seen on this channel, absolutley in love with those door handles too! Keep up the amazing work.
+Shwa Andary Thanks. I can't take any credit for the door handles, they're actually an off-the-shelf part from Kindigit and they're relatively easy to install. They were designed for musclecars, but they're a nice update for Euro cars.
Karl T. Muth Oh wow, they look so good and match the car so perfectly I genuinely believed that they were custom made. I just spent some time looking through the images on your wheelwell page, the attention to detail for all the aftermarket parts for this build is truly remarkable. Again, very cool car, job well done (Y).
Wanna sell it yet?? Awesome build brotha. If by chance you come across this after all of these years Karl, how is she holding up? She still running strong? It’s crazy after all of these years and all of the many awesome and unique cars that have come and gone, I still firmly believe that this modded Jag and the BMW Z3M coupe are still my favorite rides of all time!! Awesome work Karl!

This car is awesome. The only thing I really don't like is the RacePak. Some AutoMeter Prestige series ivory gauges would look so much better in that dash.
+TheSmokingTire That is a clean install. You'd think that for how much a RacePak costs, they would give you something better than a fucking Game Boy screen. Color LCD screens that size don't cost hardly anything. That screen looks like it would be awesome in 2002....but this is 2016.

Still has the original 4L Nikasil cylinder aluminum twin OHC engine...purrs like a kitten, but wow will she roll down the highway, yet with decent mileage. Nobody guesses the age of the car, but they all like to look, to ride, and a few of them who've gotten to drive were just happy. There are car styles for everyone---this was ours. I have commented on only one other "One Take" video from Matt and that was the yellow Boss 302 Mustang because that is truly my dream car. But god damn....this thing. It. is. SO COOL! Seriously, props to you buddy, you have put together one of the coolest, most interesting cars I have seen in quite some time. I hope you see this comment because truly you have a very interesting and special car there. Thoroughly enjoyed this one Matt.
+cherokee88able Saw it and appreciated it. Thanks, Karl
I've never thought too much of this generation XJ, but this is the most impressive car I've seen on this channel :D love it
