Something interesting about Arlong is that he gets angry at Luffy for hurting one of his men. After Alvida, Morgan, Buggy, Kuro, and Krieg all actively attacked their subordinates without hesitation, Arlong was the first main antagonist who actually did care about his subordinates' well being.
I wondered about that too untill I watched the fishermen arc and if you've watched it too you'd realize that Arlong wasnt really THAT bad at first but he was feeding on hate and anger due to the racism that he and his mates suffered of from humans.. And for a little bit.. JUST A LITTLE TINY BIT... I felt bad for him I'd really like to know what is he doing NOW... he didn't die as far as I know.
He was also the first not to underestimate them as well. He went all out against Luffy without using tricks, just his natural physical ability, didn't hide behind his weaker mates and understood how much of a threat Zoro was and was prepared to kill him.
It's also great the way Luffy responded. 'I told you to go.' 'Yes you did.' 'I told you I didn't need you.' 'Yes you did.' 'Luffy. Help me.' 'No problem.'
My favourite part of the Arlong Park Arc is when Usopp mans up and destroys Mr Lips. (Chew) Like jesus, Usopp just lights him on fire then starts bashing his head in with a hammer over and over which probably gave him brain damage.
Yup agreed I just finished reading it for the first time now. I enjoyed romance dawn Orange town was good ussops village was a bit slow baratie had some great moments but I found don krieg a bit of a letdown and then Arlong Park was AMAZING
I was hooked. I cared so much about the story and I even cried. When Nami was crying I even hated Arlong more and it got more enraging as his backstory with her working under him was shown.
Luffy's admission of what he can and can't do is one of my favorite moments not just in manga but in any media as I've never heard a protagonist confess their weaknesses and reliance on others, while still somehow making it a honest, almost accidentally badass, boast by the end!
Like his speech to Vivi urging her to accept the crew as allies in her fight, it shows why Luffy's the captain of this crew and not one of the other characters!
One of my favorite moments is when Nami rushes back after facing Arlong about the money he took using the navi dude. when she tells everyone that it's fine, she can get the money again, they don't need to fight. and then Genzo just hugs her and thanks her for fighting alone for so long, but they can't let it be. So they go while Nami releases the bottled anger she has on her tattoo until Luffy stops her culminating on Nami for probably the first time in 8 years saying "Help me". I literally cry everytime... If Luffy didn't punch Arlong like he did when he got to Arlong park, I would.
@@DanielMircea "You better keep your hands off my hat!" -Monkey D. Luffy It really showed how much Luffy really trusted Nami and how much he cares for his new friend and soon to be Navigator when we saw that brief flashback.
Genzo's pinwheel at first looks like decoration to make the character visually interesting, but turns out to embody his sense of responsibility for Nami!
I wasn't sure about One Piece, it was good but it hadn't sucked and made me invested until this arc. That moment when Luffy and guys walk to Arlong Park together with the theme tune playing was the moment I became a fan.
When I see her now with her balloon tits I kinda get mad... One Piece became the world's greatest through stories like these, why oh why would it ever need such blatant fan service?
@@TheKrigeron Sadly, the anime worsen the fanservice. Their tits are big in the manga, yes, but in the anime...it's gigantic and sometimes show us another angle that would let us see those balloons up close. This is one of the things I dislike in the anime. Heavy fanservice that are unnecessary as hell just to fill up the episode run time. Worst, it affects the viewers' view on the characters. Nami is often the victim of this and is always labeled as a "slut". Smh.
It says something that Arlong's actions were so horrendously cruel that even _Jinbei_ got down on his knees and apologized to Nami for not stopping it, even though none of it was his fault. That also led to a heartwarming moment where Nami said she only hated Arlong and would never hate fishmen just for who they are.
Dear Lord Arlong, he is one of the most vile and hateable characters in early One Piece and he does such a good job of making the reader/watcher want to see Luffy kick his Shark ASS!
This arc perfectly displays what Luffy's character is. He couldn't care less about what's going on around him, but if someone he considers a friend is involved then he's going to help them. Also Arlong's defeat is satisfying as fuck.
Great video, but you failed to mention one of the most heartbreaking and epic moments of the arc, being when Nami violently stabs her Arlong tattoo only to be stopped by Luffy and for her to turn with that tortured expression on her face asking Luffy to help her. Knowing how much he values his straw hat he places it on her head. Gets me every time.
his silence since he had no idea the backstory was amazing...he even lets her stab herself a few times before stopping her as if to let her get it out and give herself one final moment of suffering to get past this trauma..he didnt stop her right away..i found that fascinating
These reviews are gold. Can't wait to hear your opinion on Skypeia, one of my favorite arks. As for my thoughts on arlong Park is that it is the ark that one piece goes from very good to greatness.
Something that people forget about Bellemere's sacrifice is that it did have a logical point: They had planned for Nami and Nojiko to escape the village by boat, but after Bellemere's death, Arlong then proceeded to destroy any and every ship out at the sea, so the girls NEVER had a chance to get away. Bellemere as a marine was experienced enough to know this so she really did save her daughters' lives.
This arc was also the first time Nami was entrusted with Luffy's straw hat, and Nami continues to be the maine one who wears the straw hat when Luffy wants to keep the hat safe. Which is sweetly ironic because Luffy only wants to keep the hat safe for Shanks. I can't say when Shanks was entrusted with the straw hat, but the original owner gave it to him for a reason.
This is one of my favorite arcs. It is really well-written from beginning to the end. It starts with Zoro's prison and Usopp's "death", driving through one of the best Straw Hats backstories and ends with such a brutal fight between Luffy and Arlong, which this one was one of the best villains in the series. There isn't a single episode you wouldn't be engaged contrary to many of the other arcs in One Piece.
Zoro got the best moment for me because this arc showed how much attention he pays to his crew and how compassionate he can be for his friends. Arlong tells him Nami has betrayed them, and this man just went "I don't believe that" and called it out by nearly drowning himself.
One of my absolute favorite moments in this arc is during the climax of Luffy's fight with Arlong. It's when he starts tossing everything out of the study, and Nami thanking him as she watches.
This arc has so many iconic One Piece moments in it. From Usopp's burst of courage to Nami asking Luffy for help to Luffy snapping when Arlong told him he would just use Nami for her cartography skills and of course "You're my crewmate now!" Easily one of the best arcs in OP.
Thinking back on earlier One Piece episodes, I've recently realized something. The running gag where Zoro's sense of direction is practically nonexistant is probably a case of Oda forgetting who had which character flaw. (In this case, giving one of Luffy's flaws to Zoro) Up until the battle with Baroque Works in Alubarna, it was Luffy who could never find the right way. In Syrup village, he ran to the northern beach by running in the direction he though felt the coldest because the North Pole is cold, whereas the reason Zoro was delayed was because Nami literally pulled him into the trap that Usopp set for Kuro's men. Then in Logue Town, Luffy spent about 5 episodes wandering the city to find the gallows where Roger was executed, despite having found it earlier and getting direction on how to reach it from multiple people, including Buggy and Smoker. Later on, in the earlier part of the Alabasta arc, he got lost on about 3 different occasions before leaving the port city they initially arrived in, and then multiple times in the desert as well. Then out of nowhere, during final battle in Alubarna, the marines start giving Zoro directions on how to reach the palace square because he's suddenly the guy who always gets lost.
the first thing zoro says after getting over the trap is "which direction is this north beach". indicating he has no clue as to where anything is. and luffy just finds the gallows in the manga. getting directions and all that stuff is only in the anime I also don't remember luffy getting lost in the desert...at all...
Qualquer gamer Fair points, but even if you do throw away those instances that you mentioned, he's gotten lost at least as often as Zoro did up until Alubarna, at which point it suddenly stops happening to Luffy almost completely, and starts happening to Zorro at least twice as often. And as for the North Beach instance, he still arrived at the same time Luffy did, despite the fact that Luffy had been running around trying to find it the entire time Zoro was caught in the trap. So even if he didn't actually know where North was, he still managed to get there much quicker than Luffy. As for the desert, that honestly may have been filler, but Luffy did lose track of his crew multiple times in the city where the Straw Hats first met Ace. In particular when they were running from the marines and he stupidly ran down the wrong fork in the path and split up from them mere minutes after reuniting.
Did you only watch the anime or do you confuse the anime with the manga a lot? they get to nanohana, luffy rushes to a restaurant by following his nose, find smoker, runs away, find his crew and leads the marine their way. they never split up after that. but luffy does get lost, because he's an idiot. like in skypea when he knew he needed to go south and went to the warmer side. While zoro got lost because he knew he needed to go to the left eye of the skull, so he went left.
The moments of the arc...Nami stabbing the arlong tattoo like mad and Luffy stopping her, her asking for Luffy's help..Also Luffy recognizing what the room was about, destroying it ! Classic !
I first read this arc when I was 8, and 10 years later even after not really engaging in the series for a long time (because I read it volume by volume but only received about 2 per year) , I still remembered that moment when bellemere breaking down the door and putting the rifle in Arlong's mouth, even though I couldn't remember who bellemere was, her name, or the arc in general. That moment is still one of my favourites because I absolutely love Nami's backstory, it's in my opinion one of the like, top 5 backstories in the series right up there with Brook, franky or robin and because I love bellemere. Also, there was a giant sea cow, which better be the one piece or I'm rioting.
This was a very concise yet informative review of the arc. Its my second- favorite of One Piece's stories, in close competition with Enies Lobby, & Water 7 is my favorite. I appreciate that you acknowledged it as the East Blue Saga's climax, because for me this is the unofficial end of the saga. I consider Logue Town to be an independent story that bridges this saga and the Baroque Works Saga, aIts It functions both as the East Blue's epilogue in addition to a prologue for the path to Alabasta. Two questions: Will you cover filler arcs for the anime? Please do! Will you count the Sea Train Arc as distinct from both Water 7 & Enies Lobby, or will you lump it into 1 or the other?
The first completely good arc in One PIece, the character are good, Nami's backstory is great, the vilain very interresting and probably the first very hearthbreaking moments in the serie...10 out of 10 !
Arlong shows any random pirate from the Grand Line can go conquer the East Blue, since it is the weakest sea. Also, did Luffy create a power vacuum in East Blue? Did the Marines regain control there because Luffy took out all the baddies?
Kuma Sama We do not know it's the weakest sea, just the main one we have seen and most likely not, I'm sure more baddies are there and or will be show up
ryan perez the world government has explicitly stated that it is the weakest of the Seas. In their world, it's essentially a third world nation, kind of. It's the economically developed, which is why the revolutionaries were active there in the flashback. Just think of all the lack of technology in the East blue that we see in the grand line. And we know garp came there when he got Coby and helmeppo, so he was a big name when he visit there. The only reason Shanks was there it seems is because Ben Beckman and yasopp were also from the East blue, but again, he is a well-known pirate in the Backwoods. The only other Marines we saw in East blue, excluding the Loguetown arc, are Captain Morgan, who got defeated by Luffy and in jailed, and the mouse looking Marine who was being bribed by our long. From what we are shown, the Marines are extremely corrupt especially in the East blue and have no interest in ruling. Perhaps that's because of the lack of economic value in the region, or the fact that maybe the revolutionaries have gained a lot of support there. But it's clear that Luffy defeated all the big-name Pirates in the region since it was explicitly mentioned, and that's how we got his first bounty. Buggy left East blue for the grand line, Kuro is active probably, we don't know what happened to Krieg or Arlong, but it is clear that unless another pirate from the grand line left to conquer the East blue like arlong, then any pirates that replace the ones Luffy defeated would be extremely weaker. Personally, I think with all the events going on the grand line, lutfi's activity in the East blue probably spurred them largely abandon it. I can't see them continuing the same policies they had prior to Luffy's arrival. You can't have a vice-admiral like Garp go to an area of the world like that when all the conflict in the new world is happening. I think in this case, it probably has been left in a greater state of peace, from what we've seen in the around the world at the time of the time skip, because if Luffy did kick out most of the Pirates, and the Marines are now refocusing entirely in the grand line, then the East blue would be left without any of the forces vying for power
Well first the pirates would need to go through reverse mountain and as we know u cant really do that if u arent fishman or marine. Besides if someone became big there they would propably send admiral to bring peace if things got out of the way. ARLONG was smart and hided his empire from the marinefort
that's a good point but Loguetown doesn't seem heavily guarded. Smoker is no longer there. Dragon waltzed right in. True. Garp, a vice admiral, was probably sent there to survey the damage Luffy caused. But Arlong didn't hide- he bribed the Marines, who manipulated the reports to HQ. Krieg had a 5000 man armada, which was only stopped by Mihawk (and the fact tried to cross the calm belt). But still, despite being a Warlord, Mihawk doesn't care much for hunting pirates- he only did so out of boredom; All the Warlords save Kuma have their own plans. And the Marines likewise are focused on controlling the Grand Line. The 4 seas have largely been neglected it seems, which is why the Revolutionaries are shown to be active in all the Blues. Arlong benefited from being a Fishman, but if a pirate from the Grand Line was, let's say a 100,000 million bounty man, he or she could easily conquer East Blue- hell, even pre-timeskip Bellamy could. Shanks even went there with no issue. and palled around with not fuss. Any capable pirate could get past the Marines or straight up beat them to get there.
"Proves how far Luffy will go for his crew" Well, it does until Enies Lobby. I think that's just a little more severe. However this is definitely my favorite part of East Blue.
This is still my favorite arc. I began One Piece in 2009 and the page where Luffy breaks down the door to Arlong Park is THE moment where I knew this manga was going to be the greatest of all time
@@thousandyardgavri2785 exactly idk how people really like her she’s anoyying most of the time and they don’t care because she looks good 🤦♂️ robin >>
I really dont care about her look and I still like her. To be fair, her brattiness is part of her character design and I dont expect her to tolerate the crew's stupidity like Robin and to be fair, everyone has their downside. I like her because eventho she may seem bratty and selfish, she really isn't. Her being a fanservice with her look really annoys me. The only time she really annoys me as a character is when she becomes a brat to Chopper.
I was voice-acting-out the East Blue Special for my sweetheart, and I actually broke down crying at the pivotal moment when Nami asks Luffy for help. My sweetheart had me pause the show so I could take a breather, but I put my favourite hat over her head just to be a bit funny. Yes, it was corny... I make hats as a hobby.
Hmmm... costume-hats, or themed hats? I have a hat that looks like a rat, a hat that looks like a cloud, a felt gnome-hat, a full-sized umbrella-hat, a mushroom-hat, and more.
its brutal when you realize nami didn't ask for help for so long cause she wanted to stick to her promise and pay for causing bellemeres death ..she knew she deserved the abuse to save the others...and its shocking arlongs crew didn't corrupt her to an unfixable point and she never felt comfortable around other pirates until luffy
Bellemere could've theoretically tried to hide the existence of Nami and Nojiko from Arlong, but they would've almost certainly found out, at which point they probably would've killed them regardless. The only real way to assure their safety was for her to buy their survival instead of her own.
This is actually confirmed in the anime (I don't know about the manga) itself when Gen says that Arlong destroyed all the ships out at sea, so there was no way the girls could've escaped that way.
The Arlong Park story arc is main reason I became a *One Piece* fan when I first read the manga. 📑😁👍 Before I read the actual manga of *One Piece* , I grew up in the mid-2000's watching the atrocious 4Kids adaptation 📺🖕😠 like every westerners in America. 😒 Few years later, I adore watching the anime version of Arlong Park arc both the original Japanese voices and the Funimation adaptation. 👏😄 This story arc showed the *One Piece* fans powers of our favorite characters: Usopp, Sanji, Zoro and mostly Luffy. Also Nami, but she isn't a typical damsel in the distress in the story. It is the arc where Luffy's crew expanded a bit more and he gain his first bounty after he defeated Arlong. Nami's backstory is just heart-breaking, but the scene when Nami stabs the Arlong tattoo on her arm, I broke into tears because I felt her pain. Arlong is a terrific villain (better antagonist then Hody Jones in the Fishman Island arc), very manipulative, cruel and treacherous. Bell-mère, Nami's late stepmother, is such an awesome character because she is both a badass and loving mother to her two children, but her death is one of the saddest moments in *One Piece* 😢. This arc symbolises a hero saving the day: Luffy saves an entire village from a terrorizing monster. Fans love when their hero saves others very bravely (similar to the Alabasta saga and Enies Lobby saga). Under my perspective, the Arlong Park arc is one of the greatest stories of all arcs in Eiichiro Oda's iconic series. 10 out of 10 from me for the Arlong Park arc. 🤗😘❤
Brittany C. When I watched the 4Kids dub, I wasn't old enough to understand how terrible it was, especially since I didn't have any means of comparing it to the original. So I actually loved it (at the time). Once I grew up though....well, obviously I realized how wrong I was. But, the garbage fire that was the 4Kids dub of One Piece was still good enough to get me hooked on a series that I likely wouldn't have even heard of until MUCH later in life otherwise, so I guess some good ultimately did come of it in the end.
I actually never really liked usopp until he fought perona in the Mori arc because he just seemed like so much of a badass even tho he didn’t really do much
You forgot that Bellmare didn't really have the money to protect her family so the townspeople hoping and praying that Arlong wouldn't notice her and the girls until they saw the stove smoke coming from her house.
I remember the whole *I can't use sword, i can't cook* ext. The only reason i do it though it because he says *I can't even lie!* and Usopp just goes *Oi*. That single moment is so far the only moment i have bursted out laughing. It maybe doesnt sound that funny on paper but if you have the time go back and watch that scene i beg you.
Arlong Park arc: 8,5. Truly one of the greats... so many incredible moments. This is really the first arc where the Strawhats are a real crew, and it takes just the march to Arlong Park to see it. I love pretty much everything about this moment in the series: Nami's flashback with Bellemere, Arlong, which I still think is one of the best villains in the series and the fights at the end, all for the most part amazing, especially Sanji's fight against Kuurobi, which is still my favourite fight he ever had in the entire series, not kidding.
"I can't use a sword. i can't navigate nor cook. and i most definitely can't lie. i'd be dead without the help of my nakama" "what good of you then? what can you possibly do when you call yourself a captain?" ... "I can kick your ass." Best roast in manga history, and also at that moment i fell completely in love with One Piece.
Favorite moment “see now I have them too,” (shark teeth in luffy’s mouth). I die laugh every time I watch this. It was a nice break in all the heaviness of this arc
Arlong Arc also was where I started to ship Luffy with Nami as he trusted her with this his hat, which we would see happen a few more time afterwards. Also when Bartholomew Kuma attacked the straw hats, Luffy tried to defend Nami which stands out to me.
One detail about this arc I always found wierd is that when bellmere found the two girls, nochiko looked to be 7 or 8 years old while nami was a baby, but in both the flashbacks of them living in cocoyashi and the present, they look to be around the same age, so does nami have some innate genes that, at least at certain points, causes her to age significantly more then most people?
favorite parts of the arc are when namie sabs her hand in order to protect usop and when zorro tries to drawn himself, when he knows nami would save him, proved to me that despite that peer preasure and the act nami still have morales and cares deeply, even if she is a coward, i couldnt stab myself in the hand and of course the part where she tires to erase her tatoo and push everyone eway, till luffy stops her and gives her his preciaus hat. Also the time when before she joins the crew officaly she feels a push on her back from bellemere like luffy felt by ace
Bellemere wasn't stupid. Gen later says that all the islands' ships have been sunk by the Fishmen. Bellemer being a marine, already knew how pirates operated so she deduced that nami and nojiko couldn't be taken off the island. In that case if she did pay her share right then there was the possibility that Nami and Nojiko would be found out and she wouldn't have been able to pay for them. That's when she decided to ensure their survival and at least say her goodbyes so that her and nami wouldn't part on a fight. Oda is damn good as always.
This arc was great but arlong’s fighting really wasn’t the best and he looks like he would lose against Don Krieg even though arlong’s bounty is higher. Don krieg was way harder for Luffy to defeat and had a better reputations he should have had the bigger bounty (just my opinion) tell me if you agree or not.
I disliked Nami at first and the fact that she stole the Going Merry that one time did not help, but after learning about her past that changed for me.
Rewatching arlong park, I really didn't like the villagers, they had so much time because of nami connection to them but in retrospect they put all the weight of the village on a little girl. They seem to be incompetent all the way through. Her childhood had parts that make no sense to me but the emotional connection and story connections are strong. Everything with the pirates was great tho, just the village stuff was iffy to me
This is still my favorite Arc in the whole series. The moment where Luffy places the straw hat on Nami's head and then screams that Arlong is going to pay is the moment I became a fan of this series. I still haven't gotten to such events like MarineFold and Whole Cake (just got to Amazon Lily if you are curious) but it will take a lot top the Arlong Arc in my eyes.
Didn't realize tattoos were considered taboo in Japanese society, but when thinking about it I can't think of many anime characters .. good guys anyway, who have tattoos.
i like the old one piece. i like the design, the story line, the animation. all about the old onepiece is just gold! now, perhaps there's too many charachter with ulti power but it makes them outshined the others. that i bet, even oda sensei forgot their speciality. like robin who can use 'eye' as cctv but now. or that she's the smartest woman in the story. but she looks like, she's no use. moreover nami. so sad. i know this shit about old onepiece is better. but it is. tho, i'm waiting to know onepiece ending story as well. 👍
This arc in a nutshell: (Luffy slaps Arlong) Arlong: Oh, wow! Wow! Luffy just smacked the shit out of me. Luffy: Keep my navigator's name out your f***ing mouth! Arlong: Wow, dude! Luffy: Yes! Arlong: It was a "humans are scum" joke. Luffy: KEEP. MY NAVIGATOR'S. NAME. OUT. YOUR F***ING. MOUTH!!!
After almost 900 chapters no scene has beaten the one where Nami asks for Luffy's help and he gives her the Straw Hat. It was so raw and powerful to me.
R. Graves Agreed. Robin's scream is at the top of my list. All those bottled up emotions finally getting out. It was her first, and maybe the only, sign of desperation and just human emotion.
Really? because I've just started watching one piece gotten to the end of arlong park and I'm still not impressed/still cant see why this anime is so popular. The problem I'm having is there alot of nonsensical scenes, like luffy getting stuck in the ground, or him being strong enough to lift that giant cow fish. or the fishmen being stated to be 6 times as strong as humans yet sanji can defeat them and luffy too without no explanation. also its stated who eats the devil fruit cant use their power in water yet luffys head stretches out of the water. also that old guy and sanji can hold their breath for so long? the step mother also not going along with the plan and just let the kids stay with someone who can pay for them. killing herself like that just ensures the kids will suffer. etc
I gotta say I never thought I would enjoy One Piece all that much but after watching this arc I'm absolutely sold. It had so many amazing emotional moments that brought me to tears. and I'm so ready for more.
Honestly I think nami should have at least punched arlong or something instead of doing nothing I feel like nami wanting to fight but not getting to really hurt the story for me

when she tells everyone that it's fine, she can get the money again, they don't need to fight.
and then Genzo just hugs her and thanks her for fighting alone for so long, but they can't let it be.

And then Oda decided that the girls shouldn't have a role in the story
It says something that Arlong's actions were so horrendously cruel that even _Jinbei_ got down on his knees and apologized to Nami for not stopping it, even though none of it was his fault. That also led to a heartwarming moment where Nami said she only hated Arlong and would never hate fishmen just for who they are.
This is the arc that officially made me a fan of the series :)
Dear Lord Arlong, he is one of the most vile and hateable characters in early One Piece and he does such a good job of making the reader/watcher want to see Luffy kick his Shark ASS!
When I got finished watching this arc, I knew that One Piece would be the anime I would watch until the very end
One of my biggest fears is that I'll die before one piece ends
This was the arc I kept repeating. Nami's backstory just gives me life. LITERALLY!!!
I want but these latest arcs got me struggling man
This arc perfectly displays what Luffy's character is. He couldn't care less about what's going on around him, but if someone he considers a friend is involved then he's going to help them. Also Arlong's defeat is satisfying as fuck.
This arc was where I went from liking one piece to falling in love with it.
Same here!
He had a chance to learn Nami's backstory from Nojiko but went for a walk instead! (Didn't even want to know it...)
This arc is when I knew I found something magic.
27 manga chapters and 14 anime episodes. Back when the anime was good and each episode was 2
or more chapters and not half!
They should have made fillers arcs for other characters rather than dragging every episode to infinity.. right now I hate watching anime of one piece
These reviews are gold. Can't wait to hear your opinion on Skypeia, one of my favorite arks.
As for my thoughts on arlong Park is that it is the ark that one piece goes from very good to greatness.
Yay, this arc is an East Blue favorite of mine even to this day
(beaten slightly by Baratie 😉)
This arc is seriously a big step up from the prior arcs. Not saying any arc before was bad, just that Arlong Park arc is beyond great.
When Luffy says "of course I will" to helping Nami is my favorite moment in all of one piece
Everything about this arc was a masterpiece. It’s not my favorite arc in One Piece, but it is the most legendary to me so far.
That's one of my favorite scenes too
who would win: Fish man physically superior ; Some rubber boi
This arc has so many iconic One Piece moments in it. From Usopp's burst of courage to Nami asking Luffy for help to Luffy snapping when Arlong told him he would just use Nami for her cartography skills and of course "You're my crewmate now!" Easily one of the best arcs in OP.
I agree entirely. Arlong is my gold standard of classic One Piece arcs.
Then out of nowhere, during final battle in Alubarna, the marines start giving Zoro directions on how to reach the palace square because he's suddenly the guy who always gets lost.
the first thing zoro says after getting over the trap is "which direction is this north beach". indicating he has no clue as to where anything is.
and luffy just finds the gallows in the manga. getting directions and all that stuff is only in the anime
I also don't remember luffy getting lost in the desert...at all...
Qualquer gamer all while having a south bird follow him the whole time
who had a south bird following him the whole time?
The moments of the arc...Nami stabbing the arlong tattoo like mad and Luffy stopping her, her asking for Luffy's help..Also Luffy recognizing what the room was about, destroying it ! Classic !
"Nami, Nojiko!... I love you." BLAM!
That moment gets to me!
Notice that in the flashback Arlong's wearing a different hat! Nice attention to detail.
Two questions:
Will you cover filler arcs for the anime? Please do!
Will you count the Sea Train Arc as distinct from both Water 7 & Enies Lobby, or will you lump it into 1 or the other?
I just finished this arc yesterday and I loved it! It was excellent.
Did you make any progress?
The first completely good arc in One PIece, the character are good, Nami's backstory is great, the vilain very interresting and probably the first very hearthbreaking moments in the serie...10 out of 10 !
I stayed up late to watch this. Nami's pain and the flashbacks had me crying. They were sad and beautiful.
Arlong apparently rampaged through the Grand line. He's pretty strong.
"Proves how far Luffy will go for his crew"
Well, it does until Enies Lobby. I think that's just a little more severe. However this is definitely my favorite part of East Blue.
The walk to Arlong Park is the moment I fell in love.with the show
This is still my favorite arc. I began One Piece in 2009 and the page where Luffy breaks down the door to Arlong Park is THE moment where I knew this manga was going to be the greatest of all time
what epidode this arc sir?
All nami haters definitely haven't watched this arc.
I started watching Op and nami was one of the best in arlong but then she just went downhill well so far anyway
@@tct-ali7238 she did in a sense. especially after timeskip. She became fan service
I watch the arc , still hate nami , she's a bitch .
I make hats as a hobby.
that's cute. what kind of hats?
Hmmm... costume-hats, or themed hats? I have a hat that looks like a rat, a hat that looks like a cloud, a felt gnome-hat, a full-sized umbrella-hat, a mushroom-hat, and more.
neat. Not much of a hat person, my head gets warm way too fast, but I enjoy some fun hats
its brutal when you realize nami didn't ask for help for so long cause she wanted to stick to her promise and pay for causing bellemeres death ..she knew she deserved the abuse to save the others...and its shocking arlongs crew didn't corrupt her to an unfixable point and she never felt comfortable around other pirates until luffy
This is the arc that truly sold me on One Piece. After episode 37, I was all in...
I remember how wholesome this arc is.
The Arlong Park story arc is main reason I became a *One Piece* fan when I first read the manga. 📑😁👍
Before I read the actual manga of *One Piece* , I grew up in the mid-2000's watching the atrocious 4Kids adaptation 📺🖕😠 like every westerners in America. 😒 Few years later, I adore watching the anime version of Arlong Park arc both the original Japanese voices and the Funimation adaptation. 👏😄
This story arc showed the *One Piece* fans powers of our favorite characters: Usopp, Sanji, Zoro and mostly Luffy.
I actually never really liked usopp until he fought perona in the Mori arc because he just seemed like so much of a badass even tho he didn’t really do much
Remember when this was the most revealing outfit that Nami wore in the series? Good times.
the sanji fight in this arc trooper its probably one of the best in the series and said a lot about his character MUTON SHOT!!!!!!!
This was also the arc where we get our first mention of Jinbe, a character who would actually appear in person until Chapter 528.
What we learned today:
- Arlong Bad
- Nami Good
- Luffy is an Oyabun
- GLR is attracted to strong women
You forgot that Bellmare didn't really have the money to protect her family so the townspeople hoping and praying that Arlong wouldn't notice her and the girls until they saw the stove smoke coming from her house.
That scene was dumb. She killed herself and made her kids grew up suffering.
I’m at the start of little island arc and this arc is without a doubt my favorite right now.
Little island? You mean Little Garden Island?
I remember the whole *I can't use sword, i can't cook* ext. The only reason i do it though it because he says *I can't even lie!* and Usopp just goes *Oi*. That single moment is so far the only moment i have bursted out laughing. It maybe doesnt sound that funny on paper but if you have the time go back and watch that scene i beg you.
This arc got me interested in the future of One Piece. Holy shit this arc legitimately made me cry
"I can't use a sword. i can't navigate nor cook. and i most definitely can't lie. i'd be dead without the help of my nakama"
"what good of you then? what can you possibly do when you call yourself a captain?"
...
"I can kick your ass."
Best roast in manga history, and also at that moment i fell completely in love with One Piece.
Damn straight!
Favorite moment “see now I have them too,” (shark teeth in luffy’s mouth). I die laugh every time I watch this. It was a nice break in all the heaviness of this arc
Don't forget Bellemere also did it because she knew they wouldn't be able to escape the island
Arlong Arc also was where I started to ship Luffy with Nami as he trusted her with this his hat, which we would see happen a few more time afterwards. Also when Bartholomew Kuma attacked the straw hats, Luffy tried to defend Nami which stands out to me.
This is the best seris ever
THIS ARC was the one that got me into one piece..... I was considering dropping it but after belemare's death....I got interested in it
One detail about this arc I always found wierd is that when bellmere found the two girls, nochiko looked to be 7 or 8 years old while nami was a baby, but in both the flashbacks of them living in cocoyashi and the present, they look to be around the same age, so does nami have some innate genes that, at least at certain points, causes her to age significantly more then most people?
do you reread the arc for reviewing?
My fave part of this arc was when luffy zoro sanji and ussop walked to arlong park
It was clear that Arlong was more powerful than Crocodile
favorite parts of the arc are when namie sabs her hand in order to protect usop and when zorro tries to drawn himself, when he knows nami would save him, proved to me that despite that peer preasure and the act nami still have morales and cares deeply, even if she is a coward, i couldnt stab myself in the hand and of course the part where she tires to erase her tatoo and push everyone eway, till luffy stops her and gives her his preciaus hat. Also the time when before she joins the crew officaly she feels a push on her back from bellemere like luffy felt by ace
I love that luffy completely doesn’t know namis backstory all he knows is Nami is crying and arlong is the reason
Arlong Park is my favorite arc
This arc was great but arlong’s fighting really wasn’t the best and he looks like he would lose against Don Krieg even though arlong’s bounty is higher. Don krieg was way harder for Luffy to defeat and had a better reputations he should have had the bigger bounty (just my opinion) tell me if you agree or not.
I just realized. How does Arlong wear rings? Are they glued on?
Hey man. Any chance of being in your 5k special? Hope so. LOL
I disliked Nami at first and the fact that she stole the Going Merry that one time did not help, but after learning about her past that changed for me.
Whenever I see bellmear’s hair i think of berry ice cream
Hachan a few seasons later is him
Usopp is the moment i watch this arc
please upload a loguetown arc recap
Hmmmm what about killer?
Arlong Arc in a nutshell
Luffy destroys Arlong to save Nami
what’s an arc???
Didn't realize tattoos were considered taboo in Japanese society, but when thinking about it I can't think of many anime characters .. good guys anyway, who have tattoos.
How would Natsu Ichigo Naruto and Gon react if they heard Nami's backstory?
One of the best arcs in anime history
i like the old one piece. i like the design, the story line, the animation. all about the old onepiece is just gold! now, perhaps there's too many charachter with ulti power but it makes them outshined the others. that i bet, even oda sensei forgot their speciality. like robin who can use 'eye' as cctv but now. or that she's the smartest woman in the story. but she looks like, she's no use. moreover nami. so sad. i know this shit about old onepiece is better. but it is. tho, i'm waiting to know onepiece ending story as well. 👍
This arc in a nutshell:
(Luffy slaps Arlong)
Arlong: Oh, wow! Wow! Luffy just smacked the shit out of me.
Luffy: Keep my navigator's name out your f***ing mouth!
Arlong: Wow, dude!
Luffy: Yes!
Arlong: It was a "humans are scum" joke.
Luffy: KEEP. MY NAVIGATOR'S. NAME. OUT. YOUR F***ING. MOUTH!!!
Ditto
Mihawk would've just used his black black blade and boom hes dead
After almost 900 chapters no scene has beaten the one where Nami asks for Luffy's help and he gives her the Straw Hat. It was so raw and powerful to me.
Jonathan Lissner
Followed soon after by his badass, "YOU MADE MY NAVIGATOR CRY!"
Jonathan Lissner I want to live from enies lobby is pretty up there too
R. Graves
Agreed. Robin's scream is at the top of my list. All those bottled up emotions finally getting out. It was her first, and maybe the only, sign of desperation and just human emotion.
This video really surprised me because I personally found the Arlong arc to be pretty boring.
Though I do find most of pre-timeskip one piece boring.
sinply the best arc in the whole series .
Really? because I've just started watching one piece gotten to the end of arlong park and I'm still not impressed/still cant see why this anime is so popular. The problem I'm having is there alot of nonsensical scenes, like luffy getting stuck in the ground, or him being strong enough to lift that giant cow fish. or the fishmen being stated to be 6 times as strong as humans yet sanji can defeat them and luffy too without no explanation. also its stated who eats the devil fruit cant use their power in water yet luffys head stretches out of the water. also that old guy and sanji can hold their breath for so long? the step mother also not going along with the plan and just let the kids stay with someone who can pay for them. killing herself like that just ensures the kids will suffer. etc
I like how the next 4 arcs or so after that are complete trash...except for the loguetown arc
I gotta say I never thought I would enjoy One Piece all that much but after watching this arc I'm absolutely sold. It had so many amazing emotional moments that brought me to tears. and I'm so ready for more.
AFTER LOUGETOWN PLS DO IMPEL DOWN ARC
Good
Honestly I think nami should have at least punched arlong or something instead of doing nothing I feel like nami wanting to fight but not getting to really hurt the story for me
belimire a mother and heroic woman strong women in one piece EXIST!!!!!!!!!!
