The meeting between Rockstar and Whitebeard wasn't mentioned here... Rockstar is a very minor character, but he really stuck out to me at this point in the story because of that. His bounty is 94M, meaning the government thought this man was about as dangerous as Luffy, who had just defeated a Warlord. He is treated as a rookie and messenger when he goes to see Whitebeard. This scene, along with the Warlord meeting in the same chapter/episode, was a good taste of how much more the world of One Piece had to offer and how far the Straw Hats have yet to go.
i mean, until this arc luffy's bounty was 30 mill, which is a third of rockstar's. and yeah that's crazy. it tells us that if the luffy that defeated crocodile were to join shanks' crew, he'd probably be among the weakest members. and he'd definitely get knocked out by shanks' haki. after all, the ones that shanks was shown knocking out were pirates that made it to the new world.
There's something that has, and probably will, always bother me about both Blackbeard and Whitebeard. Neither one of them actually has a beard. Whitebeard has a massive white mustache and Blackbeard looks like he's just barely able to grow a five o'clock shadow, resulting in a "beard" that looks more like he glued pubes to his face when he failed to hit puberty. I say their names should be changed to Whitestache and Blackpube respectively.
Ethan Mouta That actually is pretty interesting. It definitely explains the whole " "Whitebeard" thing. I still say that Blackbeard should have a thicker beard though.
You can see blackbeard growing a beard throughout the story. we haven't seen him since the timeskip so for all we know right now he could have a full-blown mane. I'm hoping that we'll see him in the upcoming arc or two.
I love Jaya for everything in Mock town all the way to Bellamy's iconic take down. Luffy and Zoro taking all that abuse and the eventually wake up for everyone else of exactly who they were messing with.
I love how Oda went out of his way to get the original Romance Dawn trio to lead this arc. Feels very fitting that the main villain for the strawhats would be met by the ones that started it all.
I actually like jaya more than skypiea.. skypiea wasnt my favorite arc but it still kept me watching. enel was an interesting villian i also liked his design but that's really it i also fell asleep at most points but eh.
I agree, Jaya is a better arc than Skypiea. With Skypiea I kept asking myself "is it over yet", it felt too bloated and went on for way too long. The only part I actually enjoyed about Skypiea is when Luffy rang the giant golden bell that was heard all the way down to Jaya, proving that Noland wasn't a liar.
lets Agree, both Arc a very good. ^^ I would say , Jaya had better new new charakters/Antagonists (Blackbeard)(although I like Enel) and Skypia a beautiful world building and more Strawhatcrew moments. for me Skypia is Robins Arc, as the Archologist, adventure and exploring. (and it has to this day her only 1 vs 1 fight.)
Mojo M. Well robin did have some important parts and this was her first arc with the straw hats. But i dont know i like the land of skypiea but the arc is just pretty bland in my opinion its the straw hats meeting up with conis and her father also the little fox and then setting for adventure.
ham yum. bland ? well, yes the beginning is a bit slow, quiter, (especially after the action-packed Knock-up-stream part) and there are many reused fighting animation later on etc. (but me personal didn't bothered it this much, i like some quiter part from time to time. But this is a mere subjective opinion ;-) ) I just like the little Strawhead moments in these old Arcs and the story of Noland & Shandria. Maybe i am just a little to nostalgic ^^ I prefer the Artstyle, humour, character etc post timeskip.
Hazzah, we finally made it to Jaya boys. Fun fact, it's the earliest arc I actually remember watching in real time and punching my pillow acting like it was Bellamy ☺
My favourite part about the Skypiea saga is just how much each of the Straw Hats get to shine, especially Nami and Luffy. The scene where they're on the knock up stream and everyone freaks out, but Nami keeps calm and gets them through it is probably one of my favourite moments of the series.
I loved the part where they try to raise the boat when one of the monkey brothers first arrived, and then the giant turtle and the whole sky turned dark with the huge shadows, i think thats one of the best moments in the entire series and made u feel how all sort of things could happen at sea
as far as small arcs go this is mt favorite because despite what it is it had that antagonist then i wanted punched really hard in the face, and while crocodile was a decent villain, he didn't have that "please utterly destroy me Luffy" feel that Belamy gave off, which is is nice because the last villain to do that for me was Arlong.
I always feel like the plot with the south bird was filler because it seems like a side quest they could have did without because you don't hear about the bird ever again. But it was such a funny character to have them go after.
i like jaya because a lot of its buildup i look back on with amazement and wow at how a lot of big things in one piece somewhat were casually introduced here when i started watching one piece again in the sub after 4kids stopped at alabasta's ending.like the sky islands that would serve as the intro to one of the yonkos with the most badass one being introduced, the unsettling ways blackbeards crew is introduced only for blackbeard himself to be rather comical and even supportive of luffy's dreams(i still think blackbeard may become a reluctant ally in the future as they're many similarities between them.) only to get serious when he finds out their bounty and goals being similar, and the introduction of the reverie with early previews of kuma, sengoku, and doflamingo with the reveal of mihawk being a warlord among them(also the fact that if she had cared about accepting the invitation it wouldve been our introduction to boa hancock as well, possibly having traits of the more evil personality she was going to have and using the design she had when she was teased a decade ago though i would love to see that design as a costume in the games.)
3:30 I think there is an even stronger example of that in Impel Down. While he makes it clear he believes Luffy has no chance of winning he is not mocking his attempts and tells Luffy to give it his best try.
Something that seemed confusing at first but is notable was how Blackbeard at first hated the pies but later on says how they're the best. Pretty weird huh.. and I guess how he goes from being friendly with Luffy to going to capture him.

It introduces a great ,,villiain'' and shows in depth how marines work. We didnt had seen anythink of them like that excluding captains and secound arc.is there any chance of that? I hope u respond
i still find that a whoa moment with the reverie in jaya, that if she'd cared about actually going it wouldve been our first appearance of boa hancock.(especially having traces of the more "evil" personality and the dress she was originally going to wear, kinda would like it if a future one piece game had that as a costume.:3)and seeing doflamingo & kuma as well considering how much story they'd be given later on compared to when we first see them.
Agreed. Skypia had some great moments but it wasn't only too long, but perhaps the most insignificant major arc in the series, really only introducing the dials and a couple of important foreshadows for water sevens arc.
Skypia was amazing. Its an example of what one piece is about. Adventure not the journey. Not many people know about it, yet the viewer and the straw hats were able to experience it. It's a gem in the one piece world. Making it significant. You can't be king of the pirates if you havent gone to Skypia.
I kinda like how Robin joined the crew. It's completely unexpected and seemingly out of nowhere yet it makes absolute sense. Robin never had much loyalty to Crocodile and with Baroque works gone Luffy's pirate crew was the strongest faction there at the time. She never really displayed any kind of personal hostility towards the Strawhats. It also isn't some kind of act or something else like that which I appreciate. I usually don't really like it when characters are not being themselves as it makes everything they say and do kind of meaningless. Robin is not that. Sure she's sweettalking them and choosing her words carefully but she's honest about her intentions and genuinely wants to join the crew. Of course she is not expecting this to last and that it will just be another job and she doesn't even really try to hide this. I've always loved Robin for how honest she is. While she's not above manipulating others she's usually very honest. If Robin says something you can be 90% sure that she means it. I far prefer Robin over Nami. I hate how Nami keeps being greedy in the most inopportune of moments and keeps hitting the other members. I hated it when Misty did it to Ash, I hated it when Sakura did it to Naruto and I hate it here too. Also because of anime gender policies she herself never get's really beaten down like she does with others. When Sanji is saying something stupid at the wrong moment he usually get's bonked over the head but when Nami does the same she get's off scot-free.
This little saga is what I like to call the vacation saga since the straw hats are basically on vacation since jaya skypeia and long ring long land are basically break arcs until the next big saga roles around.
One of my favorite things about one piece compared to other shonens like dragonball is that luffys actions have consequences. So in dragonball goku manages to beat the entire red ribbon army ( a world renowned military that was a major threat to governments ) in about a week. Then we don’t really see the immediate after effects. Presumably the red ribbon army had enemies what happened with that power vacuum? We never got that answer. In one piece luffy disrupts the status quo and we constantly see how his actions have massive ramifications. If luffy never beat crocodile blackbeard would not have had the opening of a warlord to exploit for his plans.
Bellamy vs Luffy here never resonated with me. But Marie Jois , The bar Scene with Bellamy and the Blackbeard pirates make this one of my favorite arcs. Its great.
This is my favorite arc pre time skip sure it seems odd because it's short , but its such a great arc for foreshadowing and introduction , also this was the arc where I started to follow one piece on toonami ( after rainbow mist funimation took over from 4kids) although when toonami's first run ended they where about half way through the skypia arc
I would've like to see you mention the true meaning behind bellamy's interaction, witch was to show luffy's behavior exactly like shanks in the first chapter, a true show of character.
I still want to know if there is going to be some end-game to the line between Zoro and Luffy, referring to Blackbeard as "they". Maybe it's referring to his crew, but the theory I'm most fond of is that they somehow sense there's more to Blackbeard than meets the eye, perhaps something that would explain how he's capable of controlling multiple devil fruits when everyone else are limited to one.
Haha, I liked the part where, after Luffy beats Bellamy, they ask where he is going, and he just points up and says to the sky haha. ☝️😯 or something like that
There's a moment in this arc that I've been wrestling to understand, & I was hoping that you would address it in the video. I'm referring to Luffy's decision not to initially fight back against Bellamy in the bar. I mention this because the general conscientious, that Luffy's decision not to fight was him imitating Shanks from chapter 1, seems wrong to me. While this notion is possible, I don't want to think that it's true because that situation runs completely antithetical to Shanks' reasoning. In chapter 1, Shanks refused to fight so as to keep the situation from escalating to the point of possibly endangering his friends & the bar, whereas here Bellamy & his crew kept wailing on Luffy & Zoro, causing all sorts of collateral damage in the process. I prefer to think that Luffy chose not to fight because he saw that there was no way for him to beat Bellamy's argument: that strength is all that matters in a pirate. If Luffy beat Bellamy then, he would only prove & reinforce the Hyena's point, & Mock Town would respect Luffy not for his aspirations & goals, but because he defeated a backwater pirate who was beneath him. Luffy doesn't like to win like that. In your next arc review, I'm hoping you will touch on the declining amount of manga material that goes into each episode. To give you an idea, the Jaya Arc managed ~36 pages & ~160 panels worth of material an episode, while the first dozen episodes of the Skypeia Arc average ~21 pages & ~100 panels worth of material. As a further example, the 10 episodes leading up the the wedding of Whole Cake Island average ~12 pages & ~70 panels of manga material (I haven't actually gotten to the wedding yet, as I prefer to digest the post-time-skip One Piece anime in chunks rather than week-to-week).
Huh. That's an interesting interpretation. I never thought of it that way. But I think this made most obvious when Blackbeard says that "once you reach a certain level, you realize there are fights that just aren't worth fighting". It's a philosophy that is taught in martial arts too. "You learn to fight so that you really don't have to" because you're better able to recognize situations that aren't worth escalating into violence.
I always liked that one monkey-like character in this arc that had that one yellow monkey print on his overalls that also resembled Pikachu a little bit. Anyone else notice?
Yep! And that's pretty much the only other time it happens. Whiskey Peak, Jaya, Water Seven and the upcoming WCI stuff. Everything else is boring old daylight.
the break in to iceburgs place, luffy and zoro getting stuck after failing to rescue robin, usopp vs luffy, ...namis reveal that robin left, luffys reaction,..sanji and usopp onboard trying to rescue her ..yep..water 7 was just perfect
So i have always thought about this Enel VS Crocodile Both logias Yes Enel has observation Haki but I was thinking of focusing more of there DF going up against each other like how Crocodile can turn his body into sand if Enel hit him with his lighting would Crocks body turn to glass?
A very good Video as always GrandLineReview :-D Jaya a good Arc wich is often unjustly "overschadows " by Skypia. PS: I have a question, wenn I watched the Anime , it always seems like there was a missing episode (the part in which Belamy beaten chricked and the samiara alliance), I never really could find this part :-( Did anyone had a similar experience ? )
So I only read the volumes when they come out. I haven’t had the time to watch the anime. Only clips really. In the volumes they call the ships the merry go. You call it the going merry. Which one is correct. I’m so confused. Kinda prefer merry go over going merry
Going Merry is correct because the characters quite literally say it. In English as well! I think Viz translated it as Merry Go for localisation purposes because Going Merry sounds a bit unnatural in English.
I think Nico Robin is my favorite main character, I am only on like episode 250 but I hear they change her personality and look and I really wish they didnt because she is a great character
till this day (im 23) i dont understand why luffy and zorro let themselves to get the shit beat out of them, but its one of my favorite scenes in one piece . I know luffy said not to fight cuz they dont understand the concept off dreams in the bar, or say its dumb (but besides that shanks flash back i dont understand it
"Unfortunately we wouldn't see much of [important events taking place during the night] in the future either." ...4 years into the future and woah, this aged poorly lmao
Luffy taking out Bellamy in just one punch was SUCH A BADASS moment!!

Maybe it's referring to his crew, but the theory I'm most fond of is that they somehow sense there's more to Blackbeard than meets the eye, perhaps something that would explain how he's capable of controlling multiple devil fruits when everyone else are limited to one.
Did Luffy become one punch man in another universe with everything unexplainable find out Same Grandline Same Grand Channel
Jaya is the best part of skypeia.
Haha, I liked the part where, after Luffy beats Bellamy, they ask where he is going, and he just points up and says to the sky haha. ☝️😯 or something like that
Robin: I'm apart of your crew now
Luffy: okay
GLR basically says we won’t be seeing anything happen at night
Onigashima: I’m gonna stop you right there
800k subs well done
Top 5 best speeches? I don't remember if there even are that many though lol
There definitely are! I have that one written down to do in the future!
Awesome!
luffy zoro hilluluk d. saul blackbeard whitebeard law fisher tiger doflamingo coby shanks all have great speeches..wtf...come on...
We get a ton of the strawhats at their lowest point during water 7 and a ton of that happens at night.
Luffy never turned his back to blackbeard. He knew how strong he is and wanted to make sure that blackbeard is gone.
Thanks for the video keep up the good work
Thanks for the comment! I shall! :D
This arc has the best pacing in the entire anime
So i have always thought about this
Enel VS Crocodile
Both logias
Yes Enel has observation Haki but I was thinking of focusing more of there DF going up against each other like how Crocodile can turn his body into sand if Enel hit him with his lighting would Crocks body turn to glass?
Most underrated ark
A very good Video as always GrandLineReview :-D
Jaya a good Arc wich is often unjustly "overschadows " by Skypia.
PS:
I have a question, wenn I watched the Anime , it always seems like there was a missing episode (the part in which Belamy beaten chricked and the samiara alliance), I never really could find this part :-( Did anyone had a similar experience ?
I was kind of dissapointed that Luffy didn't copy bellamy's moves during that fight
You forgot the reveal of Whitebeard which I feel is quite a bit event
The introduction of Blackbeard was the highlight of this arc.
I am spoiling my self alot XD
and still almost as if it's the first time I have seen it
Do you think the idea for One Punch Man came from this arc?
Jaya island means victory island, is it important?
The next arc is my favorite
Welp this is the last video I can watch until I finish Skypeia
I think Nico Robin is my favorite main character, I am only on like episode 250 but I hear they change her personality and look and I really wish they didnt because she is a great character
What ep does the Jaya arc starts
Does anyone know who that old female marine is?
Tsuru!
Is it wrong for me to skip this arc just to see my boy Enel
THIS CHERRY PIE IS FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!!
THIS CHERRY PIE TASTES AWFUL!!!
You totally forgot about zoro and luffy following through with Nami’s request
Jaya? Putrajaya?
till this day (im 23) i dont understand why luffy and zorro let themselves to get the shit beat out of them, but its one of my favorite scenes in one piece . I know luffy said not to fight cuz they dont understand the concept off dreams in the bar, or say its dumb (but besides that shanks flash back i dont understand it
Nice vid
Whats with that goat that sengoku has
Been rereading one piece. I hate skypiea. Jaya in the other hand is great
Wait, Zoro was a teenager at this point?
The whole crew were except for Robin!
GrandLineReview I don’t know why but for some reason I thought that at this point Zoro was at least 20.
@@TimToonsTalks he was 18 at the start when he met luffy and turned 19 by the time the timeskip occured...
now he's 21-22
Rainbow mist?
Doesn't exist.
"Unfortunately we wouldn't see much of [important events taking place during the night] in the future either."
...4 years into the future and woah, this aged poorly lmao
Don’t spoil future stuff please every arc I finish i see your video so don’t spoil anything after it please
You know oda is a boss look at the stars over Blackbeard head hmm
I hate when oda make funny cool character who are very likable but then he turns them into villain (cough cough Kaku and black beard)
Jaya arc: 8
