nice upgrade!. I think you might want a zero-clearance insert. Also, how thick is that top? Don't you lose some plunge depth? Figured you might need to hog out some underneath to get closer in to the top of the extension wing.
"first thing I do is take out the router, and throw away the instructions" Me: Ok, I'm listening intently, this is clearly a man that knows how to get things done!
David, Looks like a fine fix. I'm getting ready to do this to my PM 66. Is there some reason you elected not to use a router plate insert? Thanks. JimE
Just as a cost savings, I had a similar setup in my old table saw and it worked for me for several years. I can also go back and add a router plate if I find I need one.

The top is only 1/2" thick where the router mounts. Most router plates are 1/4" to 3/8" so I am only losing another 1/4" to 1/8" as opposed to using a router plate. I had a similar set up in my old table saw. I never needed to raise the bit up very high. Most of my router table work is edges of boards and panels, so height of the bit shouldn't be an issue.

Okay and what do normal people do to mount it :)

David Gunn thanks David. Looked much thicker on camera, 1/2" isn't bad. Sweet! Looked like metal till you started drilling lol.
that formica top was really hard, then all of a sudden the plywood underneath was soft, so once I got about 1/8" way down, the drilling was easy
Its also my next project :)
Looks like it turned out nicely.
Thanks, thanks for watching
