- I recently shared on social media a set of painted backgrounds I've been working on for a future digital project, these backgrounds gained a lot of comments from those who assumed I'd used my gel press to make them.
This is how I really made them.

It may be short (not really) but, oh so sweet!! I don't look at the time a lot because I value all of them, especially if they keep me intrigued. You, dear Ceri, are a very intriguing, imaginative and endearing artist. Thank you for sharing!!!
Oh thank you Anita
Ceri, thank you so much for sharing this with us. I never would have thought of using baby wipes. I love your videos.
Oh looking forward to March…I’m missing your longer videos but whatever length they are they are so creative and I learn so much. These papers you’ve shown are beautiful, definitely going to do this 😊
Great tips . Many thanks for uploading this one :)
I like the softness that it brings. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love how blended and smooth these backgrounds look. Who knew! A baby wipe. haha.
Love the yellow one
I’ve been collecting all the empty thread spools from my sewing projects to use in place of the handle Ceri is using. I bought a bag of flat round sponges and glue them to the bottoms of the spools. Works great.
That's a great idea!
Yippee!!! YOU are amazing sharing your creative gift with us. I truly appreciate your excellent instructions AND telling your insight and rationale for your processes. Thanks for being you. Don’t ever let anyone steal your sparkle. Lots of love.

Love this technique, Ceri! I don't have geli printing supplies, but I do have acrylic paints, paper and a boatload of baby wipes! Thank you for the detailed walk-thru. Cheers!
Wonderful!
Ceri you know I don't do gelpress but this way of making backgrounds is fabulous. I love your channel you have something for every level of crafting, beginners or nay all find something on your channel. Thanks again.
You are so welcome!
Such pretty backgrounds. This technique works great in art journals because no need to soak the paper. 😃
Such cloud soft results.❤
Many Thanks🎉❤
Thanks so much 😊 Julie
Oh I like this. Why do I get the urge do get all my paint out and play in the middle of the night?
lol……..that’s what I do when I can’t sleep.
I do love how quick and easy this process is to attain a fantastic background. As usual, thanks for sharing
You are so welcome!
Very cool backgrounds and they look very fun to make.
TFS❤
So simple, yet so beautiful! These would be lovely backgrounds for greetings cards. I'm itching to try this!
Brilliant, and fabulous for backgrounds, as you said. Thank you for the tip about coloured baby wipes or kitchen roll - drying and reusing is a wonderful way to add texture to one's work. Looking forward to trying the techniques, and watching your future videos.
What a simple yet another fantastic idea! Thanks Ceri. Very enjoyable 😉
Thanks so much! 😊
Hello dear Ceri, I love this! I am definitely going to try this! They all Turned out beautifully. Thank you so very much for sharing! Hugs and blessings ❤

Hi Ceri: I'm always trying out different ways to do backgrounds as I don't own a gelli plate... thank you for this. Simple, fun and effective.

Ceri what another fabulous project!! Thank you for sharing!!❤
You posted this just when I needed it. Thankyou.
The best things come in small packages and this how-to video is no exception. I so appreciate you Ceri! I always learn so much from you!
ooh, nice!!! Loving these, and happy that you got some digitals. You deserve it.
Ceri, your work is amazing! Thank you for sharing your wonderful art!
This looks easier than gel plate printing, which I still struggle with. I always love your color combinations, Ceri. ❤
Thank you so much!
Loved learning how to do this! I don’t have a gel plate and need to make papers for collage! Thank you Ceri! Can’t wait for your digital papers! I was crossing my fingers you would do some this year! Til next time…..
Love these backgrounds.
What an amazing process and a lovely result. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤
My pleasure 😊
This is a goodie! I can't wait to try it! So many possibilities! I may set some time aside and try it today! Truthfully, I don't think I can wait!!! TFS. Have a lovely ❤️ February! 🙏🥰
Have fun!
These look great! Super technique! 😃❤️😃❤️
Very, these are fabulous! Thank you so much. I don't have the gel plates, etc. so I cannot wait to try this tomorrow! Awesome artistry as always!
This is a very good technique and the colors are lovely🥰
They are lovely papers. I'll try that very soon. Thanks for the tips, Ceri ❤
Beautiful background pages! I love the colors!
I said the new logo piece was stunning the day you made it! Today, I need to tell you how cheerful it is. Good call!!
Oh thank you!
You are such a bad influence! I had plans, but, no, I had to try this. I’ve done this with distress inks, but paint is so much quicker! I tried on two types of paper; one a heavy copy paper, the other a presentation (Epson) paper. The presentation paper kept the vibrant colors and didn’t curl. The heavier copy paper dulled and curled.
Good to know Nancy.
This was great! I love seeing craft paint make an appearance because I have quite a bit of it. I’ve used baby wipes to make quick backgrounds in some of my journals with water soluble crayons and am looking forward to trying your method out.
I love this! Will for sure use. Thanks foe aharing, Ceri!
Excellent video with lots of ideas and inspiration. Even using that tile is a great idea. One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments. I put color on a cover once and I used ink instead of paint, it took forever to dry. This will be my go to method the next time. You made my day!! TFS Hugs from California * L
Thank you so much for sharing. I've watched Dyan create with this technique, but it's always nice to see another person's interpretation. Beautiful!!!
Dyan is so talented I’d love to do a workshop with her one day.
Lovely backgrounds! TFS
I really like this method and the results are so pretty.
Thank you! 😊
Great tips and lovely work Mr. Ceri
Loved this.
Love this Ceri ... Thanks.
Ohhhhhh I am so excited!!!!!
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thank you Ceri. Like your new logo.
Thank you!
Very helpful and enjoyable 🎉
Hi Ceri. This is right up my alley. I do something similar but I use a paint brush. Sometimes using different types of brushes for the look of texture. I'm definitely going to try baby wipes. TFS Hope you have a great day. 🌞
Sounds intriguing I’ve not done it with different brushes.
Love these!!! Definitely gonna make some. THX!!
Fantabulous!!!!
Very nice and easy ❤
Great technique - thanks!
Great looking! Carol from California
I love this process. I think I can do this.❤
Go for it!
Awesome Ceri💜
Love this! I need to try it, soon! 😂
I use to watch Dyan on those tim holtz videos. Shes a very interesting person. What an easy way to make backgrounds. And ohhh. Some digitals in the near future??? I hope so. 😊
Finger crossed if my plans work out new digitals in March.
Love your new, colorful CERI Board...
You always amaze me!
Hello from Texas ❤
Thank you! 🤗 and hello Texas.
Loved and learned so much with this video! ❤
Love this! I’m just catching up on videos but noticed your new “CERI” in the opening, much bolder and looks great!
Oh thank you, new year and time to have a new look.
Thanks for the ideas.
FABULOUS! ♥🔥
Nice backgrounds. First time viewer. I subscribed. Would like to see more and also art journal pages and canvas work. You have a lovely and calming voice. I'm in Alabama, USA.👍❤😁🇺🇸
Thank you Helen and welcome to my channel, all those topics are already videos on my channel and things I enjoy doing so there will be more in the future.
Thank you!
Very cool. Thanks ❤
Glad you liked it!
Love that this is something someone new to creating background can do as well as someone who doesn't have a gel plate.. did you say what kind of paper you used or did I miss it? Sorry if you said already ❤
Anna it’s a white presentation paper just a little heavier than copier paper, I show the packaging in the beginning of the video.
I buy the same paper from my local Tescos, it's lovely and smooth.
Love this process! Thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to further teasers and the big reveal... March you say?😉
Fingers crossed Jamie
“now I have paint all over my fingers” 😂😂😂 so glad it’s not just me
Thank you for sharing! I water down paint and use a paint brush to make backgrounds right now. Baby wipes never crossed my mind! How much easier is this?!
I like the total effect of this process. I may experiment, but would I be wasting expensive paper if I tried this on watercolor paper? It may be that the surface of the watercolor paper would not be smooth enough. Thank you for sharing - easy to understand directions.
I’m not sure id use watercolour paper as it’s an expensive resource to play with.
Thank you!@@CeriGriffiths
❤❤❤
WOW Ceri, these are amazing 🤩🤩🤩.

😊
ICeri i know this is making backgrounds but how can I matt glossy pages from magazines and craft book pages that I cut out pse. Thanks a stack
Naomi, you could brush them with a thin layer of mat gel medium or you could use clear gesso but the gesso may have a gritty texture.
@@CeriGriffiths thank you so much. Glad I found your page. You such a help.
Another great tutorial thank you so much 👍👍👍👍👍
