- The Mountain people walked and rode horseback on these narrow back roads in Virginia, many roads were dirt back then. All just to visit their rock churches and to hear Rev. Bob Childress teach and preach.

Blue Blizard I had the honor of knowing Robert Childress as a young boy. His viewing was held the same night as my grandfather's in Hillsville. He was a fine man. Being from Buffalo Mountain these churches and the history mean alot to me. I'm only 31 but I respect your family to the fullest

We hope that we will have the final $ for AdSense soon (Jan 31), but all told for Nov, Dec and January we believe our total will exceed $250 from just our ads not including the additional donations people have made to be included in the video!

Maybe three or four videos and a bunch of photos?
That is from the digital collection of the Library of Congress. It was recorded along with hundreds of other songs by this couple who traveled around in the 1930s recording people.
You should be able to find it online at LoC site just search Amazing Grace or Lomax 1939
Bob took my mom Earnestine Burnette (daughter of Dewey and Anna Mae Burnett(e) to get her first Perm (hair) in his horse and buggy. She is 92 now. So it was about 1942 maybe.
