Creeping Death is the most rockinest song about the Passover, ever.
LOL!
Dead af 😂
true!!😉👍
lolololol
Believe it or not, James told a story in an interview that him and Cliff Burton were watching the “Ten Commandments” and the part where God sent his angels out to kill anyone’s first born who didn’t put lambs blood on the doors inspired the scene in the movie. cliff said the following “whoa, that’s creeping death man!” That’s what inspired the title of this song and the movie itself inspired the lyrics. So yes this song is about the story of the Jews finally leaving slavery from Egypt
Sweet. Didn't know that. Thanks 👍
This song was written after they watched the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston.
My mom watches that movie a few times a year
Its the story of Moses freeing the slaves from the Egyptian Pharaoh
Told from the perspective of the angel of death PASSING OVER the doors of those with lambs blood on them
Creeping Death IS the Angel of death.
Yes, the song is in reference to the story of Moses and the Angel of Death of the last of the plagues in Egypt told by the Book of Exodus.
The live version with Jason’s “MOTHER FUCKING DIE!!!” Is so good
Seattle 89 my friend
@@Kingdakota97 I think both live versions are equally good my friend!!
Yeah ! At that time i wished Jason would take over vocals ! I was in my death metal phase . Still though ! I wish they still let him sing more lol !
@@Brando-Lee3725 Jason has all of my sympathy honestly; they did him pretty dirty.
@@derekdecker555 I know right !
Imagine being 16 and discovering this when it was newly released. This is easily a top 5 song in their catalog. The live version from Moscow 1991 is worth watching. Glad you liked it.
Oyeah... Creeping death live at moscow 1991 is the best live preformence ever.
I can longer hear the breakdown without chanting DIE along with a slew of crazy Russians
This is the Biblical story of Moses and the 10 plagues which ends in the historic "Passover" by which if there wasn't blood on the door, the first born would be slain. It's in the book of Exodus.
One of Metallica’s most iconic songs is FADE TO BLACK off of the ride the lightening album. The same album this one was on. React to that one. Slower tempo but very melodic. Hope you give it a listen. It’s about the end of one’s life. But the way they do it , it’s kind of melancholy in a way.
God hardening Pharaoh's heart to show him Who The True All Powerful God Is.
I always liked the studio version more than the live version
Its much better.
I agree except the whole "DIE!" chant live. That live part is badass
@@jeffmitchell72 that part of the song sounds cool live. I agree with that
How?
'86 version is probably the fastest downpicking ever recorded
'89 is Seattle
'91 has 1.6 million people
All the YEAH
@@8tonystark8 because that's WHAT I like better! My opinion!🤘
Amazing writing about the 10th plague of Egypt, considering it came from James Hetfield and Metallica, who were all around 20 years old at the time.
That's crazy. I've been listening to this song for 30+ years and never really paid attention to the lyrics. Had no idea it was about the Passover. Great reaction guys👍💯
So glad u did the studio version too, personally i think a 1st reaction should always be a studio version instead of a live version. Cause when i first heard Creeping death, it was the Moscow live one and i thought it was ‘meh’ cause I didn’t have a sense of the sound. Then when I listened to the studio version, I absolutely like it, it sounds more raw to me
Creeping Death is about the Angel of Death in it's perspective
This isn’t what you expect from Metallica? Too much “Enter Sandman” youve been listening to. The first four albums are extreme fire!!!
Agree! 80s Metallica is the greatest run of metal ever! Black album is when they broke my heart! lol
@@tbone2071Well said!🤘🏻
Now remembering that the entire point of this song was the message of freedom and "let my people go" check out the live version of this song where Metallica played Moscow after the wall came down.
They already did a reaction to that.
This song was written by Kirk Hammet when he was 16 years old
One of the most iconic metal songs of all time
This album and the first 4 for sure were about war, history, bible, and its great you guys are picking up on this. … Creeping Death yes the plague! Awesome!
This song was my introduction to Metallica . I bought a compilation album called hell comes to your house and this was the 1st song on the record and blew me away. I've been a fan ever since.
Yeah, ya'll got it! They definitely went Biblical here, based on the Book of Exodus, when Moses was sent by God to deliver the children of Israel. Ya'll mentioned them referencing the plagues and the Burning Bush. It's sung from the perspective of the Angel of Death, who passed over any home that had the lamb's blood over the door post but slew all the first born of Egypt that did not, including Pharoah's own son. Metallica taking us to church if you will. 🙂 ⛪🤘🔥
This was the first metal album I bought myself back when I was 14. Good memories. I love watching people discover metal for the first time. It brings me back to those days.
This is the best passover song ever. Let my ppl go. 400 years and more than you know. This song is Fire.
It's the Angel of Death! Killing 1st born man & the plagues! Hard Rockin' Song and I love how James Hatfield sings it. If you notice, the music kind of has this Egyptian groove to it...
Now watch the live Moscow version and see a million people chant "DIE!" during the interlude. Nothing more surreal than being in a concert with tons of people screaming the same thing. Better to be there but fun to watch.
They did many reactions ago
This song blew my freaking mind when I first heard it back in 84 or 85, and it still kicks ass.
This is the very first song of Metallica's that I ever heard and it is what got me into the band.
Theses Guys are one of the "KINGS" of metal. Tough as nails and hard as concrete. Metallica is one huge rabbit hole to go down...go for it Asia and BJ!
I think rock fits this story perfectly
The song was inspired by the movie the 10 Commandments which was based on the biblical tale PLAGUES OF EGYPT so James Hetfield wrote the lyrics, Kirk Hammett wrote the guitar riffs and Cliff Burton came up with the name of the song while watching the movie.
The song is from the perspective of the Angel of Death. Yes, the Moscow 1991 LIVE version of this song is fantastic. If you want to watch a wild Metallica performance, react to Harvester of Sorrow from the 1991 Moscow performance...crowd being beaten.
Exactly! "Harvester..." (from that show) rarely gets the love it deserves. In my opinion only, it's even better than the studio version.
They've already done it
1989 seatlle creeping death is better its quicker and more aggressive
@@aaronwillis6179 The Seattle show was fantastic. It's been a while since I've watched anything from that concert so maybe this is a good excuse to go back and give it another watch.
I keep going back and forth between "Harvester Of Sorrow" and "Creeping Death" as my favorites from that Moscow show. The amount of crazy Russians shouting "Die!" had to have had the military "security" JUST a bit uneasy. Quite a few puckered butt-holes for sure.
@@VadersRage yeah but i feel it was more quiet than seattle shouting die the whole crowd at seattle was fucking nuts metallic had them literally in the palm of there hands and that's jasons best backing vocals he's ever done at that seattle show
You should watch a live version of this song. The crowd feedback makes it sooo much better.🤘
They did a reaction to the Moscow performance a while back.
The Four Horsemen is off Metallica's first album is another song with a biblical reference.
It's the story of freeing Moses
Its about the passover and the story of moses..
Kirk Hammett was raised in a very religious Christian household. He is the main songwriter.
So this is a song about the Exodus.
You need to check out Lovebites Scream for Me live Daughters of the Dawn.
2 of the best guitarists you'll ever see live.
It’s the story of Moses and Passover
That was dope that you said this song reminded you of the Ten Commandments because that's what the bass player Cliff Burton was watching when he came up with the concept for this song. Little known fact I guess. Cool Channel, thanks! 🤘
Fascinating watching people mezmerized by a, song I have loved since I was a pup. Bow at the feet of Godz.
This is one of the heaviest riffs. Such a treat
Check Metalica today with orchester,no leaf clover......James voice amazing.! cheers, from italy.!
It is about the story of Passover, the ten plagues, etc, but I believe they got the inspiration for it from the movie "The Ten Commandments," with Yul Brynner. The phrase, "So let it be written, so let it be done," was commonly repeated in the movie by the Pharaoh.
Ultimate concert song.
Yeah, this song is basically Cecil B DeMille's Ten Commandments, told as only Metallica could. When James Hetfield and Lance Burton were watching the movie, and the final plague sent by God came onto the screen, Lance said "Look, man! It's Creeping Death!" You can literally find every line of the song, represented in the movie.
The reaction to Kirk's guitar solo alone was great! Love seeing people react to the music I grew up with! Great channel keep it up!
Deffinatly one of my all time favourites 🤘
Starting the day off rocking hard dope reaction
Ooh man! You should have checked out this song live in Moscow over a million people were there.
I love seeing people that you wouldn't associate with listening to MetallicAs music reacting to them...Love Creeping Death 💀
This song is about the exodus from the bible, their song "The Four Horsemen " is also a great song and it's about the apocalypse from the bible.
Creeping Death, Four Horsemen and Blackened are some of the best song ever written.
Lol, when they have this in concert and the entire venue is screaming "Die".... Whew, trippy!
Been there. I'd seen them in New Orleans then in Jackson, MS and started the Die early and James was like "looks like somebody knows this part" lol
It's the story of exodus and Moses.
Saw Metallica live in Milan, 1988, and in Turin, 1992, in Italy. While playing Creeping Death, the palace seemed to explode
Watch the live version from Moscow 91 !
Been a Metallica fan for almost 40 yrs. I'll be 50 in November. I remember when this album came out. It came out of Japan as demo, it had like 3 songs on it. Then it was on Ride the Lightening. Not to mention, I tried to pass this on as a religious story to my parents, The Passover. 🤘
You two reacted to this song a few months ago. It was the live show in Moscow.
The live version was historical 1991 Moscow over 1.6 million in attendence.
This song WAS inspired by the very same movie you're talking about. It's about the Passover in the book of Exodus.
Its the Passover story from the Angel of Deaths point of view
@D C haha!
In essence Creeping Death is the Holy Spirit and the plague to kill the firstborn sons of the Egyptians. "I creep across the land" The story of Exodus and the plagues, from the Bible, told in the movie 'The Ten Commandments'
its crazy that they wrote this stuff in their early 20's
These kids were young but they were against slavery & against being addicted to stuff(as seen in Master of Puppet titular Topic & Track on that album). They were labelled as satan worshippers. No matter the creed Creeping Death would Passover doors with Lambs Blood they chose to be slavers and then would not give a lamb to save their sons. I think they were good kids.
They did there own twist on Exodus. Great reaction. 👍
Great reaction to a masterpiece!🤘🏻❤️
Asia is 100% right on this one.. This is from First version story of the 10 commandmends.
Pharao first son was put in a basket in the river of the Nile to save him, not to be killed.
The bush of fire and all the stuff that comes around until he saves the people and find the 2 stones with the commandmends.
It's Passover told brilliantly in heavy rock.
The song describes the biblical story of passover from the book of Exodus.
An awesome song on an amazing album by one of my all time favourite bands, and this moment is an absolute masterstroke... 5:59
Best metallica song
Fun fact, this is written from the bible. Book of Exodus. The plagues of Egypt.
Those Marshall stacks & James Hetfield’s Gibson Explorer create a frickin CRUNCH you just can’t deny !
@@fredtello holy shit ! No way !….what a great circumstance!
Great song
James' mother was a Christian Scientist and was so devote she refused medical attention to treat the cancer that took her life when James was just 16. James has incorporated biblical and religious themes in the music he writes like Leper Messiah and The God that Failed that explore his anger towards religion and God.
holy !! u done Creeping Death.. now im a fan
Nailed it asia
Hey yall, Yall hit the nail on the head!! And food for thought Cliff Burton, bassist, wrote the song!
He was exploring his belief system and spirituality and wrote songs about those feeling before his
Untimely death in 1986 Master of Puppets tour !
I love your reviews about metallica songs coz for me they’re my only favorite band , iconic legend and they’re music is powerful deep emotion, i couldnt ask for more, total kind of rock music, heavy!!!! But meaningful very meaningful!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🥁🎶🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
He said hail to fire 🔥
The only band that can tell a bible story and have it kick ass
They did this live in Moscow. You GOTTA see it
Here you go ua-cam.com/video/wbnFNy9t_EM/v-deo.html
Metallica was always one of my bucket list bands. I actually had tickets to see them in little old Tulsa Oklahoma in 1992 with Guns N Roses. I told my folks I was working and got to the show and Axl Rose decided he wasn’t playing for that night and it was cancelled. Then both bands went off the charts and Tulsa didn’t have a big enough venue to get them to come back until January of 2018 and I finally got to mark them off the list. Metallica is literally the best live band I’ve ever heard.
True story: I've been lucky enough to see Metallica twice in concert. The last time was in early 2008 and I was VERY pregnant with my second child. Well, I'm not sure who enjoyed the concert more - my almost-born son, or me. He was jamming out in my belly for the whole show! And at one point, he shifted his weight so hard and fast while I was headbanging that I ended up falling over. Everyone around me was freaking out but I was laughing my ass off. Apparently, there was a mosh pit going on in my stomach! LOL 🤘😁
Now you need to react to "Creeping Death" live from Moscow '91... 1.6 million fans!!!
They did ua-cam.com/video/wbnFNy9t_EM/v-deo.html
Yep, you're right. The song is about the start of the Exodus story, the Passover. The creeping death is the angel of the Lord sent slaughter the first born sons of Egypt. Pretty cringy that we tell this story to children and think nothing of it. Asia's face at 6:30 when she realizes what's going on says it all.
This is the Passover story, written from the point of view of the instrument of god's wrath. Now that you watched the studio version, the live version is pure energy
Tool - descending , invinceble , Pneuma dany Carey live cam from new album. 3 songs completly fire 🔥🤗
The Israelites were told to paint the tops of their doors with Lamb's blood in order to avert the Angel of Death killing their first borns.
I just watched all Metallica reactions by you and you nailed every one of them.
You just became my favorite reactors. Peace out and keep on rocking.
creeping death is the story of Pass Over from the bible...it refers to the plague that killed the pharohs first born any ones first born son that didnt put lambs blood on their front door....and its also referencing some of the pushiments Moses did to egypt..like turning nile into blood....fire from the skies..etc..etc.
You gotta check out a live version of this song from when Jason was in the band. He was an absolute beast on stage. Moscow 91 perhaps…
They did that one.
You need to watch them perform this in Moscow in front of a crowd of 1.5 million people in attendance:)
Right here ua-cam.com/video/wbnFNy9t_EM/v-deo.html
Being around when they first dropped, and being a rock fan pre-Metallica...They were a tougher sell than alot of people think they were. Not that they didn't have drive,or didn't sound good,or have talent,or any of that...But in the context of the times, there were so many legendary bands all out at the same time and all doing their best work. For a lot of people, Metallica grew on them more than Metallica hit the ground running. Then after that, they probably could have quit before their 5th album.Everything has been commercially successful, but their work and musical choices were suspect after their 4th album. Not to take anything away, because it's hard to write one good song.So 4 albums is alot.
Classic Metallica!! For more high energy Metallica songs, check out- Blackened; Dyers Eve; The Four Horsemen; Leper Messiah; Holier Than Thou 🔥
2 songs you need to here for whom the bell tolls and and fade to blackboth off my fave album ride the lighting
James was raised in an extreme Christian home. He had a very tough childhood but he certainly made money from it.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Just check this out. Your show last night was great by the way. I enjoy listening and watching you. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend. I got a great gift from my wife… Although it’s delayed somewhat until that time. However it’s wonderful. She said the next time Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa come around… She’s getting me tickets. I can’t wait. They are so awesome live.Take care God bless
Can I just respectfully say, BJ you a lucky man!
One of Metallica's best guitar solo's is on the song Ride the Lightning, I highly recommend it.
“Angel of Death”? Time to do that song from SLAYER. Make sure you have the lyrics because that song will knock your socks off!
No you guys are right this is a story that song about Moses and pharaoh
