The outstanding development and growth in this channel is breathtaking
You have improved a lot since this video. Love watching them
I agree
over the past 3 years your manner of presentation has evolved and is now way more engaging. 😁 keep up the great work.
After watching over 100 of your more recent videos, it was a trip to land on this earlier iteration. But quality content all the way through. You are the Mr. Jeeves of the internet.
This is an underrated channel.
You've come a long way. I'm happy for your success and all that you've taught me.
Thanks for the Beethoven piano concert number 3. My favourite. Nice performance. Thanks also for the tip about subtitles. Great fun watching now. Cheers.
If you've never worn one of these, I would highly suggest making two nice open holes, PRIOR to putting on your dress shirt. Why? Two reasons, one you want that bar at the right position on the collar, and you want it perfectly level. Trust me looking in the mirror and doing this isn't easy if you've never done it before. Everything is reversed looking into a mirror and if you have high quality dress shirts, you can bend that pin trying to get it to pierce the collar. I've bent some myself before figuring out, it's much easier to make your holes prior to wearing the shirt! And, don't worry about those holes, laundrying the shirt closes those up, no worries!

Can I use a tie bar with a tie bar? Will it be too over? Thank you for the great work!
sir you are wearing a great shirt in this video...it is both a french cuff and pin collar bar shirt. Would you mind if I ask from which brand this shirt is from?
5:15 which article are you referring to about the custom shirts for collar bars? I don't see it linked anywhere
Sven, I have trouble keeping a silk tie covering the top buttons.
How do solve that problem, would a tie bar or collar bar help.
Cheers from Australia
are you familiar with the chain typically worn underneath the collar and over the knot
I have so many badges to wear in an occasion, what is the best place them
Good video, but your newer videos are so much better.
Hello Sven, I love your website and appreciate your advice. I was wondering if you had heard of the shirt company Proper Cloth? I was wondering if you could do a review of one of their shirts because I have ordered from them and I love what they offer.
Will do.
Who came here because of John Wick Chapter II? I personally like the Collar Bars best - looks very masculine and stylish at the same time.
Hi, great video. I have a question, can i use a collar bar and a tie tack at the same time or it looks exaggerated? Thank you
Hello.. i wants to know that can we wear collar bar without tie?
Can I wear the Collar bar with a waistcoat as well?
with a 3 Piece Suit?
I have a long collar shirt + wide tie
So is it fine to wear collar bar?
What kind of tie is that at 2:21? Asking for a friend.
Should provide a link for the tie knot.
Nice Mozart touch ! (oops, not Mozart, Beethoven :D) +cufflink44
+cufflink44 I guess you are right :D To be honest, I did not recognise the piece, it just had a Mozartean flavour in it. But as you know Beethoven was highly influenced by Mozart in his early works, which 3rd piano concert is a part of. I believe I have enough excuse to confuse Beethoven with Mozart :D.
Excuse me !!
Beethoven' Emperor piano concerto
Can I wear collar pin and tie bar together. Or wearing them together will overdo
*wonders how you are supposed to put a collar-bar in*
“You need a custom shirt”
*dies*
Should you pair a collar pin with a tie clip?
Can you elevate your tie knot without a tie pin ?
What type of collar is shown at 2:33?
Should these match other metals in your outfit in color like watches or belt buckles?
Most people would not notice it but it would be great to metch metals!
Would you recommend a rounded tip to the collar (I've heard it called club style?) for use with collar pins?
A club collar works.
Thanks! And thank you for the videos.
If I'm only wearing a shirt, is it okay to wear collar bars ?
Can a gentleman wear a collar bar with a tie clip?
epic smile
This is a little off topic, but in the military we are taught to wear collar stays which stretches out the collar and keeps it in place to look sharp and shirt stays which stretches the shirt tight so it doesn't rise up when you sit down. The collar stays and shirt stays are not visible, but it's obvious if someone's wearing them or not (busted collars, shirts rising up and not stretched tight, etc). Is it proper to carry these accessories over to civilian attire?
Tao, collar stays are absolutely fine. Some shirts have them sewn in, but most besser shirts are made for removable collar stays. Some wear shirt suspenders, but if the shirt has the right length, you should not need them in civilian life. I hope that helps
Gentleman's Gazette That I know. Properly fitted shirts do not need suspenders. But I don't really have the money to blow on specially tailored and fitted shirts, especially when my body can vary between 10~20 pounds throughout the year depending on how much I eat and exercise. I just starch and iron my shirts, and then attach shirt stays to stretch them nice and tight. The shirt stays attaches to socks, so can also double as garters. I also blouse my shirt to hide the excess.
One more question. In the military, our shirts have creases we iron in along the front going up/down along the center of our left and right breast pockets, and duplicate the creases on the same location along the back. Would it be proper to iron the same creases into a civilian shirt?
Tao Liu You can have shirts tailored that are not super trim. The English often do that, and there is nothing wrong with it. At the end of the day, each to his own
Gentleman's Gazette I see. In regards about White Tie. I recall reading the website and it calls for patent leather shoes for White Tie dress. Does that mean I have to actually buy patent leather shoes or can I spit shine a pair of plain leather shoes to high gloss? Also, are high gloss acceptable with suits? Or are they only acceptable with semi-formal and formal dress?
Collar pins n collar bars were popular back in the days. I don't think 2 many dudes have them now
do you know which stores/brands sell dress shirts with collar pin holes like that in Canada? thank you!
Eric Cartman No, I don't. But generally, chances are you have to go custom.
What size collar pins are you using in the video, 2 in or 2 1/2 in ?
+Grover McCorvey III 2"
Thanks!!! I have a clip pin I want to try the collar pin ...
Would it not ruin your tie
I want a thin but wider collar pin
I don’t want the pin pulling my collar opening too close
How about a collar chain? Did it really exist before?
This guy looks like G-Eazy in the music video of "I mean it"
Not gonna lie. I came here because of Howard Hamlin, Better Call Saul. 😅
So everyone that remembers the time those were popular is long dead
Can I use the buttonholes from a button-down collar for the collar bar?
Hi I need to buy collar bars; it's possible on line?

+Gerardo Mares English please
He is looking for a place to buy them online.
Why do you have three buttons on your right cuff and four on your left?
I must have had one button unbuttoned.
Bold.
Bye
What is the best tie knot to use with the collar bar?
Alex Clough four in hand knot is best. Imho
Would it be appropriate to wear a colar bar and a tie bar or tie tack at the same time?
No I think it's too much but if you hide it under a waistcoat, it is acceptable.
Thanks
say that name again plz?
Would it still be acceptable to use a safety pin if you can't find any of these
Can you wear tie bar with tie pin ? Can you do other tie knor than four in hand tie knot when wearing tie pin?
the music changed
Collar pin and collar stays. Can they be worn together?
No
first time view.. lighten up. or not.
So spray paint a safety pin gold should do the job? 😂🧐
What kind of knot is that?
MolsonpEx Which one?
I can't be the only one who feels bad for pocking a hole in a perfectly good shirt.
First, I'd like to say that I appreciate the fact that you care about your appearance and put some effort in selecting what you wear, particularly in this sloppy age. But I think that you are just dressing vintage without bringing any style to your look. I don't think that it really fits into a modern environment and just feels far too retro.
not going to damage a good collar of a shirt for this and the fact that you can see the collar bar makes it look worse than without
LOL noob, teh collar bar has to be visible
You are wearing a bespoke coat.
That is not a collar bar - it is a Prince Albert....eeew
The audio is off
Lorenzo Delgado you have to turn it on ;)
Collar bars arent just for men. I have to wear it for a horse show
Allison Poteete why're you in a horse show? Hehehe. I'm kidding. That's actually awesome that you're a rider in an equestrian show
Du kannst doch bestimmt deutsch sprechen :D
You must be exaggerating at 0:44. The elevation of the tie knot just looks absolutely ridiculous and silly.
it creates a different effect. better suited with a waistcoat / vest.
Sorry but I don't speak english
Collar bars and pins are the one accessory I really dislike. In my eyes they ruin the aesthetic of a good tie knot.
...and make you look like a mafia don :)
