This picture relates to today's kids and families too. I understand that it's not always the parents fault, but I also know that a lot of kids wouldn't be doing what they do if the parents would just wise up.

Plenty of parents are afraid of the government. They don't have any parenting rights.
A child is encouraged by authorities including schools to report any disciplinary action.
That's why parenting has become hand-offish. Parents are just waiting for the day they finish their 18 year sentence as parents.
Most parents are also afraid Big brother (Social Services) will take their children away and put them in foster homes if they discipline them.
The funny thing children are not taken away from the real abusers who openly tell the social services go ahead , take him.
But if they see the fear (for the child) in the eyes of the parent, social services workers turn into dogs barking at the parents and insist on taking away the kids as a punishment for the parent who really wants to keep their kids and raise them well as law abiding citizens.
A long time ago 2 of my boys were horse playing. The younger boy ended up with a scratch under his eye. The next day he refused to go to school because, as he put it, he feared they will place him in a foster home.
That day I understood that somebody (fill in whoever you think) has destroyed our society.
My wife and I were lucky. Our child was smart enough to turn the table on the school and it's indoctrination to turn my boy into a spy and an enemy.
Other friends of mine were not that lucky. Their kids walk like kings in the house knowing fully well that their parents are afraid of them. All they need to do is call 911 and get their parents in trouble.
Please don't tell me you have never been afraid of those little brats and never wished you never brought them into this (your) world.
I know some of you will attack me for telling the truth, but somebofy has to tell it. Sorry for ruffling your feathers.

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn

Who half the time were soppy-stern

He was so ashamed , embarrassed by his mother and fathers behavior, of his life, Jimmy created a life that he was never given ; because of the selfishness of his mother and father, you can see he was invisible to them , he Jimmy on the other hand did everything a boy, as a kid fending for himself getting ready for school alone eating alone always alone he did everything a boy ; young man 17 years old could do trying to make his parents see him , see themselves,So they could be proud of him and like wise of them, it’s a miracle that his out look was as good as it was he was Vulnerable just ripe for someone who has bad intentions to come and take advantage of his naivety and use him for his own intentions which were no good . He did not have a Mother figure. Nor a Father figure . Towards the end he had a few moments of what it is like to have happiness, joy, True love. End well with hope for a better tomorrow. I need for this to have a happy ending.
Just by reading the comments I feel like it’s my own life that this is about.
My father didn’t care about me.
He had his own family...A girlfriend who had 17 yer old daughter and 18 year old son. He decided that they were his family. Even though he had 4 children by another woman before I was born. Neither of my parents were loving towards me.
A memory: Thanksgiving.... he left mama and I alone with no money
He had Thanksgiving with his new family.
We walked to the convenient store with the change we found and bought soup.
      A can of soup.
I tried to share with my mom.
She gave me the entire can.
Then let me know for years that I ate the entire can.
If I could do my life over, I would run away.

Jimmy reminds me of my ex-husband. John, the current and final ex, told lie after lie and story after story. I wonder if he had watched this movie and learned the technique and tactic from it. Poor John! He, too, wanted the perfect family, didn't have one so made things up. Took me awhile to put the pieces together then when I confronted Mr. Probst he confessed he was a liar - and I married him ANYWAY! A fairy tale gone bad, to say the least.

Laura,The main problem with growing up these days is that children were not, and are not, brought up respecting one another. They are no longer taught manners when they are young, and told right from wrong. When you are taught these things, they will only "run with" the same disciplined kind, and stay out of trouble. When children realize that being disciplined is for their own good, they will not only respect their parents, but everyone they come in contact with. This can be hard for a single parent, but it is possible.Manners, manners ,manners.

Book-ended by over-the-top preaching that parents not neglect their kids, this unique story reaches some surprising emotional depths. And where else can you hear a pretty love-interest nightclub singer rhyme words like "shirk"? Characters not too original (yup, the nightclub owner IS the bad guy again.. and mom is a drunk and dad too busy) but one supporting character was quite a remarkable surprise. ua-cam.com/video/ORlbPc0E478/v-deo.html

That boy was so innocent he came off as a complete idiot and since he isn't a secondary character in a sitcom this makes him unbearable. His folks were just as if not more painful to watch if I wanted to see two adults who despise one another fighting constantly I'd simply call on my parents. Not to mention all of his classmates who are all about middle aged. I knew in advance this will be awful but that's just whince inducing still cheers for sharing that monstrosity

Ok, blame the parents, in some instances it might make sense, But this man, their son, was not stupid--just naive. So they make a story out of his inability to grow up and he continues to lie about his upbringing. I found the film corny as heck and the acting --well, the less said the better. Not a B movie, a D movie.
