Thanks for the movie.Different storyline. What a naïve and innocent crime movie compared to today's standards! Tying up only the hands of an ex-cop, taking a "secret" picture with a flash that could light up a room like it was daytime, trusting an ex-cop so quickly, etc.
@scarygary-qq1pj - Just so you know, I GET your sense of humor & appreciate good satire!! "Common sense" isn't NEARLY so "common" these days. I just wanted to throw a little positive energy your way & let you know there IS an audience who likes fun responses such as yours!! People are WAAAY too critical these days!!
For a 1941 production, this film seems more styled in the early 30's fashion. In fact, I just watched "King Murder" where George Batcheller was also in charge of production. As others have commented, this is a film worth watching, but the production style is somewhat dated compared to other 40s films. Low budget, I assume. Still, thanks much to PizzaFlix for saving this for all old movie buffs!
Funny how people will watch animated movies about talking bears or singing lions, but can't watch a piece of human fiction without taking it seriously. Most of what goes on in these older movies should be taken with a large dose of suspended belief. It's entertainment, not factual records.
Since 1989, 2,005 people have been exonerated from prison in the U.S. Ricky is one of those exonerated - after serving nearly 40 years for a crime he didn’t commit. In 1975, a man was robbed and murdered in Ricky’s Cleveland neighborhood. Days later, armed police kicked in the door of the home where 18-year-old Ricky lived. Based on the testimony of one young boy who claimed to have witnessed the murder, Ricky and two of his friends were convicted of the crime and sentenced to death. www.yahoo.com/news/wrongfully-imprisoned-39-years-000016908.html Here go read some more make believe!

I knew the Scottish accent of the actress who plays Mrs Murray seemed familiar. It's Mary Gordon, Sherlock Holmes' landlady Mrs Hudson in the Rathbone/Bruce series of films.
This was an alright movie. It could have been really good if the writing was a bit better on certain things. But overall, for are I'd rather watch thiso movie than anything new coming from the networks and such. When the bad guys girl started telling him what she was gonna do, she did a masterful job of expressing the "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" attitude. And it was nice to see the cops father not believe his son would turn criminal. He knew he was being framed. Good movie, overall. 🙏

Takes me back to watching these on Sunday mornings when tv was actually entertaining.
Cool movie! Another 👍 great!

Cyn, those were the good ole days.
Charles Mitchell when criminals had a little bit of gentleman ethics lol🖋😼
Kept my interest all the way thru! That's was GOOD!
The mayor is a crooked politician? 😨🙀🤯 I'm so glad that could never happen THESE days!!
All mayor's and political leaders are crooked and sad it does happen and not just in movie's

It's amazing how many times Mrs Hudson appears in these old B features & usually playing the housekeeper / Mom of the house ( Mary Gordon)
I always imagined Mary Gordon made a lovely cup of tea.Not too much milk.
Brief appearance in Bride of Frankenstein, too. Killed by the monster.
Too bad she wasn't in "Son of Frankenstein". It would've been kind of neat for her to co-star with Basil Rathbone.🧟
@@scarygary-qq1pjwhy,it's only Mr.Holmes.......
Thank you very much Pizza Flix. You're awesome!
Simple, solid cops and gangsters picture. Another low-budget gem from Producers Releasing Corporation, the smallest of the Poverty Row studios.
A police officer's "sweetheart" is running a gambling joint. Police and criminals are two sides of the same coin.
Thanks for the movie.
Like how the chief grabs the gun from the floor with a handkerchief ....and then plants it in his other hand with no handkerchief! Keystone Kops!
Watching it for 9th time still refreshing to view😮

A raid, and people told to just leave calmly. Ha ha. That makes it funny.
I wonder why the cops started breaking down the back door when they could've just walked in the front. It wasn't locked.
I bet my grandmother saw this film when she was 10.
NO she must have been 5, this was that corny!
Are you from Cornball City too?
Mine was 46. I'm old.
I want all those cars. And motorcycles ☺

Very 30s. The “30s” ended with Pearl Harbor. PS: Captain Murray is a good representation of city cops at that time, some of which I knew.
Sorry to disappoint you, but Pearl Harbour happened on 7 December 1941, so therefore nowhere near the 30's which nearly 2 whole years before.

Apparently none of you have ever seen a Lina Wertmuller film. All her actors are run of the mill common-looking people, no glamorous stars.
