A young woman is on death row for the murder of a man who was blackmailing her family, although she claims she was framed. A famous criminologist, believing her to be innocent, rushes to investigate the case and clear her before her execution date.
Movies of these era are a guarntee of fine acting and fine story. Thank you so much for uploading this gem. I cannot thank you enough, believe me.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you. 🍕🍕🍕
Thank you, I remember when I was a child would watch black and white movies and I like them. Thank you again 😊
Gentleman stood when lady approached ...I love that
Women ruined that!
Not women. Feminists.
Excellent! And thanks to UA-cam for keeping you on here!!!! This is wonderful entertainment.
Excellent in every way! Mystery, mayhem, twists, romance, and great quality...thank you pizza man...much appreciated.
Oh my gosh .... so good & suspenseful....thanks!! Loved Lionel Atwill in this!!
Great little film love it. Great acting story line good too.
Love the old films.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you!
CLASSIC B&W FILMS!
Lionel Atwill on a positive role is always a good watch. Love these lost classics. Thanks PF.
He was very effective and gave a powerful performance in Son of Frankenstein
Loved him as Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes goes to Washington.
Never seen a bad film with Lionel Atwill in it :)
What a movie it was excellent.
This was a fun movie to watch and a great suspense ending!
Caught me off guard again PF. Figured on a tragic ending. These movies are a great break from some of life's stresses.
Interesting story though. Didn't find it dull at all. Characters likable and trigger sympathy, an important ingredient in any movie.
Go easy on the Sauce Pizza Pal.
Great movie! The younger sister didn't look young enough to be that stupid, annoying and naive. I would have chosen a different actress for that part but the rest of the characters and the storyline were great! Thank you for posting this for us to watch!!
I had Pizza for diner and then watched this movie. Never loved pizza so much. Great movie, kept me in suspense til the very end, even though I knew that the "good gals" never lose.
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you. 🍕🍕🍕
This was a Good Movie Thanks for upload
Great movie thank you
Wonderful. Tense right up to the last moment. Thanks for the upload.
An approach different from usual. I enjoyed it!
I loved this movie, & the ending was really cute!!
This is a wonderful film, thanks for the upload.
You put on the BEST movies thank you so much!!😘
Best Dr ever. And good governor with a dogged investigation
Best Doctor ever?
I love old films .
CLASSIC FILMS!
I just realized that this is the same Jean Parker who starred in "Bluebeard" (1944). Oh, how I love that film!
An oldie and a goodie!! So much better than the trash of today!!
Yes, and no stupid special effects.
enjoyed this movie very much a real nail biter in its day
Most female movie stars of the old day where classy not like the common trashy stars of today.
The couple who walked after the shadow on the window, he was still alive shaking his head hevdid not kill him either, so who was the actual killer.
Did anyone else wish it was Suzie going to the chair? So much for sisterly love.
That governor is an irresponsible moron. Suzie was merely annoying - very.
TravelDiva66
yep.
give her enough change for betraying sister with guilt.
LYING, LYING, LYING.
turn it up a little more for wanting to delay a day after the execution. to tell what was really going on.
but finch got the truth out of her.
give more charge for being selfish.
TravelDiva66
CORRECT:
give her enough CHARGE not change.
do not like auto correct.
TravelDiva - Oh you just spoiler’d me. I was thinking Suzie was guilty. I really shouldn’t read the comments 1/2 way in. 😁
Getting ready to watch it 👍
I liked it
Good movie, thank you for uploading this.
Good movie and I did enjoy it but the dress catching fire scene puzzled me some. Wouldn't she have been burned and more badly hurt? Otherwise I really enjoyed this picture.
I'm halfway through movie, I do believe that Susie is the one that committed the murder not her sister Mary.
WHY SPOIL it for OTHERS who haven't seen it YET???
Yes, that was a thumbs up.
Nice movie _ thanks for the upload.
Well conceived, well done....
Recommended,,
As usual, good sauce @PizzaFlix!
Here's to another Pepperoni Pizza eatin' fix, to another fantastic PizzaFlixn' Movie,
courtesy of my favorite PizzaFlix !!! I love ya, & thanx !!
So generous of spirit to supply these for us. A real Santa Claus for all us old movie lovers! Easter Bunny, too. Now that I think again on how good this movie you provided us was. Thank you.
Some memorable lines:
“This isn’t one of those tough cases that requires clues.” (Sergeant) 😂
“She’s right, but who’d expect a woman to be that logical?” 😳
“Nice places, as you call them, never have the kind of sandwiches I like.”
I know.... 😂
Atwill, one of my favorites is Son of Frankenstein. He plays the local police chief who supposedly has a wooden arm, and at least 5 times in the movie he comes to visit Dr. Frankenstein (Basil Rathbone) at his castle and snaps his arm in a very ostentatious way.. It's great.
warren wilson His arm snaps wonderfully copied in “Young Frankenstein”.
I remember that !! On late late show after the local news oh ..how neat..ole re- runs then on TV ..y'all know.....I'm Fr Fort Worth, Texas.....great memories...Mom thinking I was in bed ...but really under the couch under her feet-.......thought I was fooling her till she said ' why don't you come up here off cold floor." ......lolwhat awesome memories .......thatcWAS Lionel Atwill in SO F & Basil R..!!😚😚🇨🇱💜💜
I love how back in the day, they never showed blood.
And people just died by a bump on their head.
Steve Sekely (Székely István -- any relation to Louis CK?), who also made Women in Bondage, The Day of the Triffids and Hollow Triumph, was an occasionally interesting Hungarian-born director.
that's for the credibility of witnesses, humph! a good movie, thank you.
You think you know who dunit............and then......!
Remember to always stand up and scream and run around when you’re on fire
Wait, yes I've got it!
You smother it! Right?
HEE! HEE!
Jean Parker is very beautiful...
Good movie just did not like te guy who played the cop he was a jerk.
This was a good B movie in those days you got a B movie and the main feature for .25 cents. Thank you for bringing me back to the old days when people were civil and our country was United fighting our enemies in World War 2.
Nicely Put Johnnyray88
Thank you
Most enjoyable. I do, however, wonder whether the electric chair would have worked with all that hair? I was an electrician once upon a time, so have knowledge....?!
we will watch anything with Douglas Fowley...thanks, Doc!
An entertaining WW II picture. Lionel Atwill will past away within the year.
*pass*
VERY good movie
What is a "Denver sandwich"?
Denver omelette sandwiched between 2 pieces of bread invented in 1907. Ham, onion green pepper, scrambled eggs, white bread - toasted
Very good movie. Charles Finch... same name as the Author who writes the wonderful Charles Lenox Detective Series, spanning the time before Sherlock Holmes, between 1850- 1880.
Thank you for sharing this great movie. Susie, the sister was either a complete imbecile in denial, and a plain cunning LIAR! I can't imagine anyone that stupid holding back obvious evidence that would free her Sister?
Maybe she was festering resentment over not getting the $1,000 to help Richard?
I'm overthinking again...
Good film but for me the treat is watching Atwill & Fowley 2 actors most noted for playing villains as the heroes.
Very entertaining.
Yes old movies are all gems specially with Pizzaflix
"Uh, Oh" I said out loud after watching the woman walk the 39 Steps, then Dr. Bradford talking about his research in bringing back the dead. I had to double check if I was watching a horror film. Her execution was set for 15 April. She won't have to worry about sending in her Income Taxes for that year, or any others.
👍🇺🇸😊
So fun to watch the golden oldies!
Hi Deb 🍕you’ve come to the right place 🍕Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you 🍕
What a fine movie, wonderful acting from all the cast. Thank you mr Pizza and youTube. All the way from Australia 🌏🦘🦘🦘🌏❤.
Such a film on topical topic should a ought a come in 2006,°~°~°~°~°~ sole a Judas a judiciary
Was this written by the Harry Hoyt who directed "The Lost World" back in '25? Poor ol' Lionel Atwill. There must be, like four sets in this picture.
The actor playing Mr. Gregory (Mary's boss) played the Colonel in "Son of Dracula", who was killed by Dracula.
A good plot, twisted in surprises and unexpected revelations, average fair acting, B/W action, who´s-who, when and how in 55 minutes, not bad at all. And in those days, if things got uneasy, "don´t worry, I´m leaving town". in exchange for some green Dollar bills And a good court action.
Governor sneaking off for a diner sandwich is a nifty touch!
And when she was..........the tenth hour of the reel almost got over ... still the interrogation uninterrupted continued .. only because of sincere working Finch and his utter conviction in his negated client
This would be so much more credible if "Mary" wasn't wearing such heavy make-up on death row.
In real life the Police would have found the key or he would have given him the key and that may have been enough for the Police to continue their investigation. That is the problem with movies, no reality.
Suzie is the big bratty spoiled girl in the movie with Shirley Temple called "Little Princess."
silly
Why in the world is the governor out chowing down at a time like that?!?! SMH
"I want a High Ryeball."
wouldn't you rather have a german binger beer?
The actress who plays Suzie always plays a spoiled, selfish brat.
Sso how much anger pride hate will you carry on with in couple public hatred eh husband err eh Bob
I love this movie too it's classy, decent n in bnw thanks a lot 🙏 😊 👍 😀 ❤️ 🙌
Another abandoned places 1944.

Vacate Uday Park Shopping Complex
Talk about Conflict Of Interest!!
A good featurette!
Jeanne Parker looked exactly like Jeanne Arthur.
What are the presentation features of the lady on fire🔥

Edge of the seat thriller for...
Wonderful 🎉thankyouuuuuuu 😊
great movie, great suspense. Thanks for uploading PF
Tense is not the word!
Wow Thank you ❤.
Pretty good movie.
Couldn't a better looking actor been cast as Mary's love interest? And, there is nothing about his personality to explain her attraction, he seems so defeatist.
Love this old great movies, thank you for uploading
Great movie.
