- Meet Clay Newcomb. Born and raised in Northwest Arkansas, Clay is an Ozark renaissance man: He’s a writer, filmmaker, mule-skinner, hound trainer, artist, conservationist, trad archer, host of the Bear Grease podcast, and MeatEater contributor. His skills and passions as a hunter are diverse: If it walks, crawls or flies in Arkansas, you can be sure Clay’s hunted it. Most importantly he’s a father, husband and one of the most humble and gracious people on the planet who convincingly argues that balancing responsibilities and passions is the key to success. Our fiends at @firstlitehunting put together this film to explore how Clay integrates business, the outdoors, and family so brilliantly in his life.

Check out Clay's podcast, Bear Grease: bit.ly/2Ucplgl According to Clay "Bear Grease aint your momma's bear hunting podcast or even a bear hunting podcast at all... (but your mom would probably like it)." What this podcast does do is deliver compelling story telling through documentary-style episodes exploring the culture, traditions, and history of rural America. If you value a life lived close to the land, make sure to give it a listen.

This is just a repost by MeatEater, this originally posted in April of 2020 on First Lites YT channel. I saw this around the time it came out. First Lite and Bear Hunting Magazine post some amazing content.
Well said
Feels like the signing of the decade getting Clay on MeatEater. His podcast is quality too.
His podcast is the content that I have been wanting for so long. Even just the way his podcast is edited is top notch.
Who’s clay?
@@whysoserious9414 you’re not very bright I see
That was an awesome episode. Clay Newcomb is such a great addition to the crew.
I love this guy. He's got that meter of speaking and a style of writing much like Steve does. He's also obviously a cultured woodsmen and knows what he's about. Also, I seen a black panther in Mississippi, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
J R E !! 😀
Oh no not you too
Lol
Its the first time ive seen a representative of my specific community. A hillbilly from the Ouachita Mts. Of the great state of Arkansas. Way to go Clay. Keep it up! We are proud of you.
More Clay! More Bear Grease!
Been on a Clay kick since he was on Rogan. Love all the information and great guests with even better stories! Bear Grease baby! AKERNS! 🇺🇸
I have learned about clay over the past few months from meateater, and his podcast is one of the best out there, no matter what topic. He is simply amazing, I lived and have family in central Arkansas and he is like an Uncle I wish I had.
Its nice having an Arkansas guy on meateater.
Clay I’d my favorite meat eater guest every time. God bless the ozarks. 🙌🏼💪🏼
Clays hype video. Playing hype music over walking thru the woods or frying squire always makes me chuckle. I don’t think that’s what they were going for but I’ll watch every time
by god i was born in Florida raised in the ozark mouintains of arkansas about 22 miles out side of fort smith good to see a arkansas man here
Clay Newcomb you are a rockstar!
I grew up on a mountain top in the Ouachita mountains, within walking distance of a marina on Lake Ouachita. Had a huge chunk of Ouachita National Forest across the fence. Me and my dad would just walk out into the forest there to hunt deer or squirrels in the fall. You could drive 5 minutes down the road and get to some good fishing spots. It was the greatest time of my life, and it's so cool to see someone who grew up the same way and in almost the same area get so far into the mainstream culture.
Always enjoy Clay, Bear Hunter Magazine is killer and his podcasts stellar. Seems like a stand up, interesting guy. Plus, I’m a fellow bear hunter so any tips I can pick up is helpful!
glad to know there others like me...and absolutely love clays view points...spot on
Really impressed with your morals and attitude toward life my friend!! Good to see it in a young man.
Clay is such a great addition, and absolutely love his podcast! Hope to see much more of him in the future!
And the former, bear hunting magazine podcast was amazing. Culture, stories, celebrations and well you get the jist. Lot to be said about to mountains and the men and women who call them home.
First a husband, then a father, and a hunter.
So true, Sir. One can not be a good father while not being a good husband. So true. And then you can be anyone else too, and be a hero to your family.
Clay is my favorite Meat Eater. And it didn't take long.
He’s top 4 for sure
I like that Steve always tries to compete with him
That was one of the best put together videos I’ve watched!!!
I love clay's series
I didnt like him much on his early/ first Meateater appearance, but he grows on me

The producers and writers of anything related to MeatEater do one heck of a job. All these shows are fantastic. Yesterday was great. I had a job going that I could have my ear buds in all day. Listened to The Bear Grease podcast. Highly recommend too

Wow! As a hunter I can only step into his shoes via video. I feel the same way and his story I am sure echos with many hunters. It is a way of life but you seriously need that balance. Thanks for making this video it was a pleasure to watch and listen in.
I wish I could give this way more then 1 thumbs up.
Inspiring story👌👌
Awesome video.
Bear Grease!!!
Good show

Very different for meat eater, but really really enjoyed it, great video man
Great video. Love the content!
There is this weird thing with Clay for me. Not my fav. person on Meateater, but he fits in so well. Also, so well spoken and descriptive, similar to Steve. 👍
Did you go hangout with Ty Evans? He does awesome mulemanship clinics. Truly a master of his trade.
This was an 11 minute add for this guy as an outdoorsman. Show 1 or 2 of his hunts.
Awesome video enjoyed the content

I feel like clay should try a handlebar mustache
Man, I was wondering what happened to Clay! He hasn't posted a video in months! 👍

Rinella is Meateater.
Without Rinella its just not the same...
Definitely different... But I like these new guys... Steve is the all-star though
I suspect this dude will be bear food in the future lol
Ben Miller Band?
Can he teach us the recipe for Arkansauce?
Clay is saving the MeatEater brand.
That's a little dramatic.
@@BG-bx4ey yes
hey, october 18th 2007 was the day i was born
Some land owners don't like hunters on their property and Clay needs to respect that. I don't understand how he can defend Butch's tree hounds running uncontrollably around another man's farm. Clay himself states ' my hounds will return to me because I can set off a beeper on their collar'. Well Clay how about you help train Butch's dogs to do the same thing?
I remember the first time I was exposed to this man was the you tube video, when the bear almost climbed into his blind!
