@@___SG yessir. awesome episode as well!
Who doesn't love a hound! I only have couch hounds but still lol
Was a good cat vid... could use some more please
Amen to that
Good job Guys,,Did that stuff for 39yrs, )) and loved, every minute,, 👊🙏🦊,, thanks,
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures
And just to be clear Janis is awesome and so are all the other guys. But where’s rinella?
Hound hunting is the best!
Love seeing the tracking collars and Garmin Alphas, that system is a game changer even for rabbit hounds.
Great show. You boys need some snowshoes.
We need a recipe for that fast meat, Stat!
I knew Janis got a nice bobcat, It's great it was on camera
I want a recipe for that meal you were cooking in the very beginning. That looks amazing. Love the video
I love the sound of a hound dog when they tree an animal.
How long till we have to register our silent dogs with the Feds?
Mingus will get his tree. He's a good looking dog. I more of a red tick guy but love watching hounds work
Is Steven coming back? These guys are great but man I miss Rinella
I’ve learned a lot and the guest are amazing
Steve is overrated and getting full of himself. The eagle is humble and kind!
its not the same without steven
@@stanleykirby9462Yes, yes, the guy who built a hunting brand empire, multiple best selling books, and a James Beard award is overrated.
Get over yourself. You aren’t special, you’re whining in youtube comments about someone who is special, so that you can pretend to convince yourself that you are memorable.
steve was the show this stuff is lame now
I live in Ontario, Canada, and I have only encountered 2 bobcats in my 64 years of life. One was memorable, mostly because I was an idiot. I was out walking the bush one day with my lab, and my malmute. They went on a chase and ended up treeing a bobcat. The tree was a 3 inch poplar, but it was tall. I really couldn't tell what was up the tree, so I decided to shake the shit out of it. Next thing I see is a falling cat, which is heading right for my head. I moved out of the way, and the cat hit the ground at my feet. My malmute grabbed it, but the cat got under it and was upside down clawing and biting at my dogs belly. I kicked the ct, and it let go and ran off. My advice to all is, don't shake any cat out of a tree without a back up plan.
Where on earth are your snowshoes. I would never go wintertime cat hunting without snowshoes!
It's a pretty good job there on the filming and Is almost like a documentary
Not a hound hunter but i use dogs for working cattle so i enjoy a good working dog! Great episode!
Love the hunt Janis + team! Keep it up. Will we see Rinella lead any more meat eater hunts? Would love to see him back at it
What a great episode! Keep it coming fellas!
that stuff needs balls!! thanks buddies!!
He sounds like Barney from the Simpsons.
You 100% just made dinner biscuits and gravy. Swap a potato and there you have it, the night time breakfast
Could you guys maybe talk about the guys that plow these remote mountain roads? Or get one on the podcast? Imagine the stories those guys might have! 4 am plowing a rural mountain road! Holy moly.
This makes me want to hunt.....and I love cats. But hunters aren't out there taking all the cats. This is really cool. I'd love to do something like this
then go get a rifle
No recipe? Don’t leave us hanging like that!
Check out Season 2 Episode 3 of Pardon my Plate: ua-cam.com/video/_PK4YEGmLIs/v-deo.html
Drink everytime they say tracks
Recipe?
In spanich please videos
I felt uneasy with this. Not judging but just how I felt. Why? Because it seemed more like an execution in the end. Perhaps it comes down to timelines, how the cat knew you were there, was watching you, but couldn't leave. The ability to sit around and discuss whose shot it was. That move from "heart thumping" decision to coin toss. It just didn't feel good. I guess its a little like sleeping with a woman you don't love, the chase is thrilling but you still need "the kill" and once the deed is done you feel a little dirty......but you'll still go back and do it again.
It's different. That's for sure. Hard to tell this story on the screen. Without being there and putting the work in, it can look flippant.
What about the meat?

@@janisputelis440 7 months ago…forgot I watched it. Love the content and keep it up!
I need “quick meat” recipe asap
Yeah, what’s it called?! I’ve listened multiple times and can’t pull anything up on Google, we need that fast meat!
So ok... but what are you going to do with this bobcat? Or is it just for fun to shoot it?
We ate it. ua-cam.com/video/_PK4YEGmLIs/v-deo.html
@@janisputelis440 well that gives me joy! As I cannot enjoy just pleasure hunting. Good mates!
Sveicieni no Latvijas! MeatEater iepatikās pats par sevi, bet ieraudzīt, ka tur darbojās latvietis tikai padara visu vēl nedaudz foršāku. Izskatās tik skaista daba 😊
I thought this what a bobcat or lynx, mountain lions or cougars are bigger short hair cats?
The tradition of planning a hunt while eating dinner on your paper map at the dinner table is something nostalgic that I miss in this new age of digital maps and apps.
You gotta bring an old timer that hates technology like the guys I go with. 😂 still use on x so I don’t get lost
I love watching your hunts Janis. We want more on the hunt episodes than last year!
What are the benefits to hunting cats? I can see how revenue from permits can have its uses but are there any ecological benefits to hunting cats? Love the show! - just wondering about this
Mountain lions are good to eat and it’s just another form of predator control. Bobcats are in the trapping class so being edible is not high on the list. You already explained the second (but just as important) reason.
Another benefit that the other responder didn't cover was, at least with mountain lions, the large males will often kill cubs to push females back into heat sooner. By removing the large, aggressive toms, it actually helps maintain a younger, healthier population.
Amazing hunt. Those girls are awesome and that bobcat is beautiful. 👍👍
Strap a go pro to those hounds
that was a amazing shot
This episode proves the fact that dogs are better than cats 😂
An advert for Cocaine Bear AND 25 minutes with Janis! Heck yeah!
Love the hound hunting content! The silent hounds are sweet. Great job fellas!
I actually thought they was gonna hunt a cougar
This is awesome. The Latvian Eagle does not disappoint....
Janis giving big Conan Obrien vibes while hanging in the cabin. Lol
You guys should team up with Kirk Price and his guys!
What a beautiful bobcat I've killed quite a few here in Texas I tell you what that one's very beautiful I haven't seen one with a coat like that before I have killed a black one which was dark gray and jet-black very rare but I've never seen one that pretty before that's for sure I hope you're he does a full mount
If only I got to my hunting spot as early as I did to this video 😂
I love watching an experienced dog handler and his dogs hunt. I grew up hunting over beagles for rabbits and pointers for pheasant. I’ve always loved watching well trained dogs work.
I want Steve back!!!!
Hey! Montanan. thats a bobcat.
Ahh poor Mingus, haha.
Great bobcat though. One day Mingus will have his moments of glory!
French Montana must be proud of his cousins
Great video! I'm from Oregon and it's a shame lion hunting with hounds has been outlawed. I have great memories of doing it when I was a teenager.
can I know why Steven rinella is not active
A day old track shouldn't be a problem if you got hounds with noses we run tracks two days old
I was listening to the meateater pod episode 312 as this video dropped. For anyone that don't kno that is the episode where they talk about this episode coming out. Very very cool.
Come up to region 1 we’re drowning in cats 😵💫
What first lite jacket does the other guy have on?
but the thumbnail is a bobcat. mabey thats the point i guss more clicks and comments lol
Wwwwwooooooo!!! Been waiting on this
What is the GPS tech you're using? Cool video... would love to see what he does with the hide
Great looking Bobcat! I just got my first in a trap this year, new to trapping. Do you know what the weight on it was? The fur is unbelievable! Also, looking for a Bobcat taxidermy recommendation!
Check out Hayes taxidermy soft mounts that meateater talked about, insane quality it looks like online (no personal experience)
@@tompowers1308 sounds good sir, thank you!
John Hayes made it into a pillow mount. It's unreal. 25 lbs.
@@janisputelis440 it looks amazing man, I am blown away! Thanks for sharing, just found out how to watch meat eater stuff online so my week is made!
at 4:40 how does he know its fox piss does that smell different or something?
More of this! Love it!
who shoots a lynx???
“We have to control the deer population” kills deer predator.
janis is the real joel miller, he looks like pedro pascal slightly too, love your efforts janis
Janis is so cool, and then he brings up starwars! Lol
Why dont they use skiis? Would be a lot easier and faster.
That dish you made at the beginning I think I’m going to make that for myself. Looks like a great cheat meal for bodybuilding and overall life in general!
Pretty nice bobcat. I have never ran them with dogs, but I have shot at least 100 several that measured 48” and a little better.
Wow 100 bobcats without hounds? Impressive
Does anyone have a recipe for the venison dish he made at the beginning?
You guys have been having some fire content.
Nice cat Janis ☺️
It seems like February is when I see everyone get a kill
i always enjoy you guys taking us along for the ride! good hunt
Just finished listening to the Meateaters Close Calls audiobook today and also happened to stumble on this video where Jake happened to appear in both. I thought it was cool hearing his story about how he sliced his finger off and could actually see in this video the limited mobility he still has with that finger that he talked about in the end of the audiobook. Great productions from the Meateater crew and I recommend everyone to give them a listen
Awesome hunt and beautiful cat.
Whoop Janis i appreciate your episisodes and hope you excuse me if I didn't spell your name or minguses right lol I appreciate you. "Janis Go get your turkey"
Had to search for this beautiful hunt thanks for suppressing me youtube
Came up immediately in my feed.... UA-cam knows I like me meateater
Curious have you eating a bobcat. Friend smoked one for some girl scouts once. Said they loved it!
It’s easy to tell the difference between Linx and bobcat tracks
Epic, more of this please
That feeling of not wanting to shoot then in other places they are varmen
Gosh I love hound hunting a bunch. Grew up hunting deer with beagles and walkers and there’s nothing like hearing hounds on the trail
What caliber did he use on the bobcat?
Yeah Baby... Thank you guys keep em coming
I am confused on the helmet?
where is steve rinela?
That was awesome
Curious how do you train your hound not to bark on trail or is it just breeding different lines
Fair bit of talking going on there.
Absolutely love watching meat eater not going to lie you are the reason I wanna try different game meats lol
This made me want to hunt dogs
This made me so sad.. That cat had no chance..
He had every chance
Thanks!
That's a really pretty bobcat. I've taken a couple in my 31 years but nothing with fur like that
Aww, killin' kitties.
