I'm completely self taught and it's nice to see even an experienced hunter like Clay, learning new things and taking new species. Love this series Sean!
There's no substitute to hunting with dogs, I have two labs and their intensity for ducks makes me focus and hope I can make every shot for their sake.
Moved to Arkansas in 2016 and picked up duck hunting. Took me a while to figure it out, but it's as much fun as I've ever had outdoors. With a good dog it's even better. Limited out several times last season, all on public.
Not putting you down at all, I love kayaks, but hunting around the metro for the past few years, they’re not an option here. Not in the timber anyways. You’ll die in the metro if you take a kayak
@@noahhearron5955 I bet. I hunt in Wisconsin in sloughs in the woods, Rivers, and marshes. There's a lot of stumps and downed tress. I once broke 9 prop pins in on season.
That public land is some of the toughest duck hunting anywhere in the country, but when you figure it out and put 40 birds on the water in the hole your hunting boy is it something magical
That Gore OptifadenMarsh pattern works so well in timber too, there is no need to switch or even consider a new pattern. Especiallybwith the front zip no leak Sitka waders.
Love this hunt we hunted northeast Arkansas a few years ago and we had a Gadwall slaughter it was one of the best hunts we ever had I have a Drake on the wall from that hunt. Far too many people look down on any duck that's not a Green Head those Gadwall taste just as good 😋.
I can see one of three things with Sean’s boat: 1. He forgot to use Sea Foam Motor Treatment like you kind folks are always telling us to do. 2. It’s the next Das Boat. 3. It will eventually end up in a F*d Up Old Deer Stands book.
I hunt a lot of public land on the Rio Grande river in New Mexico it all depends on the winter on how we will be able to hunt its a lot of spot and stalk scouting in my area its very difficult but I have developed a way to hunt ducks lots of walking though nice video. Hunting in a duck camp is definitely on my bucket list
I'm so, so excited about seeing you guys shoot the grey ghost. That's what we call 'em in WI. They get so overlooked, and they are, as Steve might say, a thinkin' man's mallard. And I know I said this on another episode, but seriously, someone get Shawn a new motor.
Hey there, can someome name the brand of the Jacket and the name of the camo pattern the Lady ist wearing at 1:38 ? Greetings and Waidmannsheil from Germany
It’s generally referred to as duck camo. I’m not super smart on the history of it but it’s just kinda an older American camo that some companies occasionally do reproductions on, or can be found in thrift stores. Another similar pattern is the marine corps frog skin pattern from the pacific in WWII
It might just be me, but this episode felt as though our regulars were kind of dismissive of their host. Maybe just the way the footage was cut. But it seemed to me like she was very welcoming and would have had something to add to the conversation, but did not get the chance.
Great episode. I enjoy the duck calling. I have some duck calls, but they can be a duck repellent on occasion in Florida so I don’t use them much. Any ideas for a potential duck lore/duck camp dinners giveaway or sweepstakes?
Thanks for the tip! I’ll practice even without the mallards. Closest thing to a mallard is a mottled duck, but they are really hard to call compared to mallards. However, could get one and call others that I see as an experiment.
That place has ducks sure. But they also have HUGE whitetail deer if I remember correctly there was lots of soybean fields too. I help build a real nice cabin there. There like a little duck cabin neighborhood there
Hilarious the first few mins of watching this I said out loud no self respected ArKan San 😂 will shoot gray ducks … and then the words were said 😂 PS that motor should be the boat anchor 😂
More duck hunting videos.... season starts in 9 weeks. During this time I find work, talk, sex, sleep, and eating difficult. Duck hunting is what I assume heaven will be like.
Take that hunk of crap motor to the scrap yard and crush it. Buy a six pack of beer and a burrito with the proceeds and then buy yourself a Yamaha Jet Drive. That motor is just horrible.
If you buy a car or a truck? Buy a Toyota. If you buy a boat motor? Buy a Honda or a Yamaha. 2 suggestions that have millions of evidence to support them.
I'm completely self taught and it's nice to see even an experienced hunter like Clay, learning new things and taking new species. Love this series Sean!
I'm also self-taught, and I 100% agree with this.
Self taught murderer?
Man! I really enjoy seeing the dogs work in these duck episodes. They’re just laser focused on the incoming ducks and so efficient with recovery !

Best episode of the season so far, I think Meateater can afford you a new motor for the next season.
I was thinking the same thing, this an anti-advertisement for that surface drive brand.
they should have just used the "das boat" boat lol
@@travisg.6315 Exactly!
This entire channel screams white supremacy
@@skylarpowell2225 what the hell are you talking about?
This Duck Lore season has taught me I'm never buying a pro drive mud motor
Has it been said what year the pro drive is?
Ditto!!
No shit
Preach
have they had a trip that the motor ran correctly
My baby is in the NICU and im using this to teach her nature sounds instead of the beeps of hospital equipment. 👌 thank you
4:05 is awesome! Clay cracks me up with his easy-going wit and humor. The finesse of a squirrel man!
My favorite episode yet. Awesome job boys and clay was a great addition. 9 days until early goose and I’m ready 🙏🏻
Lets talk about her squarebody suburban though. Thats a duck bus if I've ever seen one!
That's what I said through the whole show that old girl is a gem
Duck bus!! 😂
I recognized it right away, I had a '79 yellow Suburban with a 400 small block and 3.73 posi.
Used to have one just like it 87’ 3/4 ton. Duck hunting machine!
@@Fullyautomaticmechanic I got rid of my 87 last year. Loved that thing but man, she was a drinker
Your boat troubles throughout this season is the exact reason I switched to kayaks 2 years ago.

Man I cannot wait for these episodes to come out! So cool seeing both Clay and Kimi get in on the action the last couple episodes!
Love the Duck Lore series. And I love Clay Newcome. Now let’s cook some!!!
Christmas Vacation reference. Caught it. A family favourite for us. Use it as often as I can.
That public land is some of the toughest duck hunting anywhere in the country, but when you figure it out and put 40 birds on the water in the hole your hunting boy is it something magical
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing and keep it going
I think Duck Lore needs a boat sponsor
Awesome channel and enjoy each episode! Makes me ready for duck season
Walpole island and timber hunting is on the bucket list for duck hunting.

Me to
Love this series. But man do I love that truck even more.
Dig me some ol Clay "the Arkansas panther" Newcomb!

Straight facts I’ll take a pintail over a mallard any day and a limit of gadwalls for supper the next day😂😂😂
She straight up said no to wearing the firstlite. She said nah Sitka looks better 🤣
Sitka is the GOAT
Probably cheaper than the new first lite too
My favorite part is how excited the dogs get.
I think it might be time for a new boat motor….. haha
wouldn’t take me long to trade off that pro drive if its gonna break down every time i go to use it!!!
I can't wait for supper tonight, I have 3 hormone fed obese chickens ready for the smoker. Loving Duck Lore ya'll
What type of motor is that? Just wanna know what not to buy
Pro drive
Dude, throw that motor away haha. It has failed on every single trip.
Love the show! Now, why do you keep relying on that motor that fails alllll the time?!

This series just keeps on convincing me that pro drives are trash
I think we Need an episode of Clay telling and showing us a “Squirrel Decoy set “!!!
Look at that Suburban. Great show.

It doesn't matter what it is, if Mr. Newcomb is in it. I'm watching

I wish Stuttgart Germany was like Stuttgart Arkansas!
I kind of feel like Sean might need a boat sponsor as well !!!!
I've hunted the Texas coast exclusively thus far and gadwall are a staple species. I've seen mallards only a couple times. Clay is spoiled. Lol
Great series ,but is any body else sick of the boat breaking down? You would think after the third time it failed it would be time to scrap it.
Sean would be a great podcast host.
Y'all were the only boat at a launch at Bayou Meto? I've never seen that before. Hope y'all enjoyed it.

Looks fairly similar to the Avery Heritage Gunner Jacket

Great episode!
They should title this series “Murphy’s Law” instead of “Duck Lore”
It's the most fun you can have outdoors.
I'm not a diehard duck hunter by any stretch, but how does one person accumulate that many instances of boat trouble that quickly?
Great Stuff! Need to show more of the hard work besides just the motor!
Really hope they do a speck/snow goose hunt.
I know that y’all stopped at Mack’s when y’all were down here. Any chance we gonna see first lite waterfowl gear on the racks in Mack’s?

What ammo were they using? Anybody catch it?
I know they sponsored by federal, so my bet is black cloud but could also be speed shok.
They have a meateater branded federal bismuth load they usually use
What a beautiful trip I'd love to do that
Love Clay!

Anybody not gonna talk about that freaking sweet square body burban?
I love Clay Newcomb
Beautiful.
my 6 hundred dollar sps with a 14 horse predator has started everytime for the last 4 seasons and I run it pretty hard out here in Utah
Great destination but do your research since 90% is private owned. Thanks for the content and I Believe!
Don’t think I seen a single bird lock wings. Let em work. Let em hit the water. Quit showing people the wrong way to hunt

Either those shots echo more in the timber or they are using 3.5 inch shells lol.
They echo more in the timber, nobody in there right mind is hunting timber mallards with 3.5’s…too much kick unless you straight sky bustin
