  • When you need to trim off a lot of brass when converting from 223 to 221 Fireball in this case, but same process for 300 BLK and others.

Good setup. I set my 300bo case holder up to be fed with my left hand, and I’m right handed but otherwise our cutters are very similar. I was able to trim a few hundred cases down in less than 45 minutes. If you finish the project with the same number of fingers you started with, your doing it right:)

I've seen those jigs like squirrel daddy but they showed up on Amazon long after I build mine. I had it for at least couple years initially doing 300 BLK conversions. Now I am getting back in to converting my 221 brass, with 65-75 cents a pop plus shipping it's worth it even though it's a lot more difficult to do it and requires neck turning.

I am using LC, also Wolf brass is just as good. I separate LC from the rest of range pickup for all my conversions, I found it to be more uniform and it has the right neck thickness for 300 BLK.

It's pretty safe normally but once I ran my finger in to blade when it was up, it scratched the skin but nothing badly :)

@@DimaProk When making 300 BO . I bypassed the saw completely . I sized the 223 case to 300 in one step . Then trimmed the brass with my drill operated Lyman bench top brass trimmer .

@@jamespollard1670 I size in one step too, but trimming take so much longer compare to the saw if you're going to trim all the way to final size.

@@DimaProk Ya , it takes me between 5 and 6 seconds per case to trim when they have that much extra neck on them . But when you figure the cutting time with the saw and the extra chamfer and deburr before sizing then trim and chamfer and deburr again it seems to equal out time wise . I will admit they are easier to size after the necks are cut off and chamfered and deburred .

@@jamespollard1670 Would love to see your process, unfortunately for me it takes a lot longer if i tried to trim with normal trimmer from ~1.750" down to 1.368". Maybe we're talking about different things but I do agree that chamfering and deburring takes longer then cutting the neck off. I also don't like the gritty feeling of brass shavings. I've tried cutting off on the lathe in the collet and it works great but takes longer to insert each case. I suppose I can hook up a shop vac while I'm cutting.
