    They are one of my son's favourite bands. He'd die of embarrassment if they became one of mine! He was going to a gig if theirs, and I was going to see the Wildhearts the same day. I jokingly said "oh, we could get the train together". He looked absolutely mortified at the thought! Proud mum moment. 😂

    For those new to Bleachers, it's that east coast street corner bodega/New Jersey/footloose kind of sound. You have a lot of Springsteen, Van Morrison, Billy Joel type of influence mixed with the modern polish of Jack Antonoff, who prides himself on bringing that sound back. You'll hear a ton the Bleachers influence in the new The 1975 record, and more of Jack's influence in Taylor Swift's more recent albums from 1989-Midnights, some of Lana Del Rey, Lorde, etc. Highly recommend their album "Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night" if you enjoyed this sound.

    • @curerbell
      @curerbell 6 днів тому

      Are they more of a singles band though? I love a lot of the singles, but I'm struggling with the other album tracks, especially the ones that don't have this guitar / chorus feel. For example, Stop Making This Hurt, Modern Girl and Tiny Moves are so brilliant and nothing else seems to come close to them... Although I'll admit, I haven't heard everything just yet, but that's just my take at the moment...

    • @brendanpatrickmusic
      @brendanpatrickmusic 6 днів тому +1

      @@curerbell Don’t Take The Money, Rollercoaster, Alfie’s Song, I Wanna Get Better are also great. I wouldn’t say they’re more of a singles band. Keep in mind, Jack Antonoff produces for a lot of big artists like Lorde, Lana Del Ray, Taylor Swift, The 1975 to name a few so sometimes the Bleachers stuff can be some side projects mixed with main singles. This is a bit of a slightly newer sound for them.

    Antonoff is my favorite producer working right now. I know that’s not a hot take of an opinion, but I love his sound and the way he works. I’ve watched all his studio videos and Mix With the Masters courses. The way he makes music compared to many producers today is inspiring. He really encapsulates Martin’s “studio as an instrument” ethos and uses a ton of vintage gear. I’m not mad that a guy like that is “the hottest producer in pop music” right now.

    Bleachers is my favorite modern band by far, every record is incredible and so different from the previous ones. Can really see how Jack is able to produce for so many different acts and do it so well, he has an unbelievably deep imagination for music that he can make music with Taylor Swift and then have the depth to make something like this too. My personal favorites are Don't Take the Money, Wild Heart, Stop Making this Hurt, I Wanna Get Better, and How Dare You Want More. If you're looking for videos to react to, Jack made videos demonstrating about how he made Don't Take the Money and I Wanna Get Better on his own playing all the instruments in his apartment, it's really incredible to see as a layman and I'm sure would be fascinating for you as well.

    I just discovered the Bleachers and they are AMAZING. Modern Girls is easily my favorite new release this fall. It's just such a party. On another note, I also just discovered your channel and felt the need to comment about how you react to the music video. It's a breath of fresh air with all the drama circulating about reactions. You do a really good job analyzing the video and we, the audience, actually learn new information about the thing you are reacting to. This is how reactions should be done. The discussions about music theory are really interesting.

    Have to love a band with double sax players. Jumping about whilst playing a sax can be difficult ask Leo P!

    If you look closely he knocks his glasses off in the previous scene just before putting them back on. So there!
