Maybe this is why the first lock I tried opened easily several times in a row and then started to take a long time to open as I started to learn a little bit about lock picking.
Funny, I watched this and was able to pick that masterlock 470 I had an issue getting into within a minute and about 6 times so far. I guess every lock has it's own method of picking it.
LOL! "Don't freak out at how easy some of these locks will open." You said it! I have been scaring people all week by popping upon some padlocks I am mainly bitch picking, as I work on my SPP. I can either rake or bitch slap everything at Home Depot or Lowes, which is pretty disconserting considering I have only been doing this for a few weeks. It makes you wonder what all we take for granted based on an idea of reality, rather than reality itself.
On my rear door, I have two large slide bolts fitted top and bottom, as well as a five-lever sash lock to British standards. I think destructive entry would be the only way in. I find your videos very interesting. Thanks
I do this as a last resort when I buy used locks with no keys, so I can gut and key them. Great advice, it works often enough. Funny thing tho, I was doing this recently to a mortise type lock with no rear clip and everything shot out. But hey, its open....
Albert Lebel I would honestly just shim it in that case. It's fun when you can get a few locks and shim and decode one, make a key, and the key then works on all the subsequent locks. Bumping is one of favorites too
When you got to the MasterLock 140, I picked up mine and bitch picked it twice and then bitch picked my 150 a few seconds later. I'm still working on my single pin picking. So far, raking (or bitch picking) is faster on these lower security locks. Thanks for the educational and motivational video.
Back when I was an amateur picker(When I was still in high school)and wasn’t anywhere near as proficient at SPP’ing as I am know,In addition to raking,I utilized a similar method which I learned from an instructional CD called “The Locksmith”(Available at usalockpicks.com)called the “tapping technique” in which you would take a hook pick and start rapidly tapping the pins(Like an electric pick gun)from back to front
Ive had a cheap set of picks with a clear padlock for along time, but the picks are fragile. i am just a beginner but i am looking to purchase some real high quality picks for practicing as i find this hobby very interesting. what set would you recommend ? and which tools are the most vital? Thanks.
HaroldSeaman Peterson, Southord, and Sparrow make the great tools. I personally use Peterson but own all 3. My most important tool is my too of keyway tension in 0.040" and 0.050" which is sold a Peterson and Sparrow. Peterson currently has a 20% promotion with code HOLLY at check out
I don't understand, what are you doing to not overset a pin? I tried the same with a acrylic lock and saw every time, that I overset a pin. I also wasn't able to open any of my more or less cheap european locks with standard pins.
port29dr I am honestly not doing anything in particular the purpose of the technique is to not pay attention. A lot of it is luck and light tension. European locks also often have tighter keyways which can make it tougher
For me I slowly move the pick back and forth along the keyway and feels the pins adjust and set as I go. Then you can usually feel a couple pins that are binding and you just poke at those as well. The reason it is called bitch picking is becuase you are basically flailing around like a bitch. In most cases this would prove most ineffective, however, you would be suprised what I can open with this method. Slow down a little bit, as speed comes with practiced. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. It will come with time, it just takes a while to train your brain how to "see" what is happening by the feedback you are getting from the pick and tension wrench.
of course you need the right tools for the job. Carry them in your purse, beeeeeatch. I've broken as few teeth in ignitions when I've been too rough (drunk) in inserting and turning.
I didn't have resources like this as a kid. Literally if I had known what binding order was I could've advanced my skills fast. I bought a cheap pick set as a teen and ditched it fast because I didn't have any resources.. Looks like the locks I opened were just by bitch picking 😆
Not necessarily. People have had great luck raking locks like Best SFIC and BiLock with raking. I also raked open my Schlage Primus (raked top pins then raked sidebar, not easy to do though)

Same thing happened to me. I kept thinking I was getting worse.

I honestly feel mine is just easier than most.
Thank you my friend for the excellent content you provide on this channel.

Another great explanatory video. My Master lock 470 is different though; it has 1 standard pin and 3 shallow spool pins...
Thank you for the kind words!
Sometimes I think that the older I get, the dafter I become; I meant my Master lock 140, not 470. I don't know where 470 came from...
Great job! Your really fast. Thank you for sharing.

Isn't that just a fancy name for bitch picking?
@@Hairy.Whodini bitch picking with style!

Awesome video as always sir.
Bill Bacardi thank you for the kind words :-)
Awesome as always
Thank you! I do enjoy this technique a lot.
Awesome
Thank you
Great video thank you👍👍👍
Stephen Stone Thank you for the kind words!
after watching this, i think i do a slower version of bitoch picking and i'm not really picking
It takes practice and time to get a feeling for what you are doing, open is open and you will get better with every lock.
Great video buddy 👍😊
Frosty901 Thank you :)
Funny, i always btch picking when i was frustrated, works most of the time, but it's more frustrating because i didn't know how did i do it 🤦♂️

@@HelpfulLockPicker and thank you, for being a wonderful teacher
Can you show us some schlage locks
Do you want to see me picking Schlage locks?
This is how I open my Master locks, works on all but a couple of the ones I own. 😄
Dirk Stabins haha, nice work
Wouldn't this style of picking lead itself to a lot of oversets?

HaroldSeaman Yes, please let me know :) I always like to hear how people are doing :)
What do you think of these aswell? www.ukbumpkeys.com/collections/lock-pick-sets/products/high-tech-wiggler-rakes thanks.
Being left handed, I’ve found that I’m always having to push the pins up and to the right….Do you have the same issue?
For me it really depends on the warding of the lock
got to the end. i think you should have medeco v twin assa multi dimple locks with frickin lasers on them
My friend Derek would probably recommend that
When I b*tch pick, it’s to teach the lock a lesson lol

Sometimes that is the best way to pick an Australian Lockwood Lock.
Thank you

I picked a door knob but only the cylinder turned not the knob. What did I do wrong?
Thomas Smith maybe you picked it the wrong way and locked it. Did the core then like when you use the key?
My kind of picking!
Thanks Michelle!

@@HelpfulLockPicker no seriously ....im very new to the sport, but love trying to find out how things work .
I wonder who named this method. The power of the beach is amazing!😁🍺✌
Don'z Lockz It was Bosnianbill
Hahaha
I am not sure but I know Bill likes using it too
I wish we had lock with keyways as open as what seems like most US made locks.
I would say we are definitely spoiled on that front for learning purposes
@@HelpfulLockPicker yeah, just managed to buy a Sparrows progressive kit here in the UK. Never heard of the company before so really hope they come 🤞🤞

Open is open though
Isn’t bitch picking just raking but with a different pick?
Dylan Green it is technically a form of raking
I guess I'm a bitch then because this is just how I pick. I can't do the LPL method of "1...2...3... oh a click!...ok 4..."

BS

raking ? works only on easy to open anyway locks

Thanks

Michelle L I can’t do it lol. I’m just giving him shit
