    Nice to watch a Havasupai Falls video without a loud dance music soundtrack. That was beautiful.

    I wanted to say thank you. I've been years ago and I think this was the best, most informative video I've seen. The only thing I'd add is to get to the parking lot a lot sooner, and hike when the sun starts coming up. Then you'll be hiking in less heat. (lived in AZ)

    Hilltop used to be dirt with no buildings. I always started the hike at night and slept in Cataract Canyon. But that was in the 70's and 80's.

    This is the most informative video I have found. Thank you for sharing. I never knew there were caves to navigate and such a large descent to get to the pools. I am a mid level hiker (about 6-10 miles per weekend and walking 3 miles a day) so I will have to get my legs in better shape for the return trip on that one!

    come to the Pacific North WET...climb up to Larch Mountain or down if you prefer...takes ALL day to hike down from Larch MT down to bottom of Multnomah falls...our 5 yr old daughter, along with our 3 Scotty Dogs hiked this on longest day, June 21st...love living in PacNW, but is oh sooo cold, raining...a warm hike like this seems appealing!

    That is quite delightfully mind blowing/awe inspiring!!! But i'm worried about that last little bit. is that last portion w/the caves/ladders the worst part? Is it steep? I hike in LA often, but i'm not a fan of treacherous trails. just wondering….thanks for sharing!!

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому +1

      latanya letcher Hello! the last part that you mention is definitely steep and I would consider it a little dangerous that is why a lot of people skip going down to mooney falls and beaver falls, if you feel you can't do it You can stay and check out little havasu falls and havasupai falls, no climbing required!

    Hey guys! Excellent video! It's nice that you guys went when it was cool (non-summer, I presume). Do you think it is a good idea to do a night hike up the canyon? Will it be too dangerous? I am thinking of doing it during late June, and a night hike would put me away from the sun and heat. Thanks!

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  6 років тому

      Lord_of_Fedora Hi! actually very early hikes are highly suggested that way you don't have a deal with the sun! we went on April and the weather was very nice even a little bit chilly. hope this helps and good luck!

  • @lolsalad100
    @lolsalad100 7 років тому +2

    • @Quiturrio

      lolsalad100 you leave you belonging at the campground ☺

  • @daviddelrosario3984
    @daviddelrosario3984 7 років тому

    Are the hikes difficult? Although it does look like there's some development there (ladders, bridges), setting the factor of time aside for the hikes, was there any difficult rock/cliff scaling? I'm setting some time next year to hopefully visit, but want to make sure I'm physically ready.

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому +1

      David Del Rosario No climbing. But the last fall does take some time. I wouldnt say the others are difficult to make (hikes to the falls).
      Now the hike from the parking lot to the campground is long and in the way back the last section is steep and hard, but not impossible, if you are a regular hiker.

    Awesome video thx! Booked my flight this month March 2018 to visit next month in April 2018. I assume most would say it’s too late. Any thoughts on how I could still visit Havasupai or any suggestions on how I could still accomplish? I really would like to go even if it’s just for a day or overnight stay. I don’t mind just using a sleeping bag to sleep on the ground as long as I can see it!

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  6 років тому

      Grim Reaper Hello! The main thing is having a reservation, have you tried calling? That's currently the only way to be allowed in the campgrounds even if it's just for one night.

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому

      liliana fernandez we trained by taking long walks like for a month, I can't really say that we trained all that hard, this hike I feel it's more about resistance, more so coming back up, the good thing is that you can always stop and rest, take as long as you need, don't rush yourself

  • @The310girlygirl
    @The310girlygirl 8 років тому

    Hi April, your video is very helpful. What did you use to light your camp? Also, how far in advance would you recommend making reservations? Thank you

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  8 років тому

      Hi! to light the camp we used flashlights, some head lamps and my sister took some solar light bulbs, but we where so beat that we didn't stay up for long after the sun went down.
      I would definitely recommend making reservations way in advance, we made ours like 3 months prior to our trip, also have patience it takes them a while to answer the phone.
      I hope this is helpful! ☺

    Just a Couple questions:
    Since you camped, im guessing you carried your tent and all your supplies with you on your hike over?
    On the hike back to your car was the hike back all uphill or was it pretty flat?

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому

      Oscar Guillen Hello Oscar! we only carried the essential on the hike down and back up, all the camping supplies including tent, food everything, the mules took it for us (round trip).
      The hike back up I would definitely consider it strenuous, it's harder to go back up then to go down. The last part of the hike, right before the parking lot is all uphill. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions, just let me know!

      Than you so much!! Ill def let you know if i have more questions..unfortunately i barely heard about these amazing falls literally two weeks ago and am realizing how extremely difficult it is to get a permit..looks like 2017 is sold out anyway =( but will try again feb 1st of next year...
      was feb 1st the day yall called?

      @Quiturrio  7 років тому +1

      Oscar Guillen I don't remember the exact date, but we called around January/February, have a couple of people calling at the same time, that way you have a greater chance of getting though.

      Mz. Hi there! If you use the mules do they drop your gear off at your chosen campsite or do you have to carry it from a drop off point?I see a lot of videos with people having coolers and chairs how do they get that stuff to their campsite?

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  8 років тому

      Hi Ivan! yes you do have to carry it to your drop of point. They have a special place where they deliver everything, they check your tag to make sure that you are taking the right stuff.

    • @Ivan-ni2nz
      @Ivan-ni2nz 8 років тому

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  6 років тому

      Brittany B Hello! Certain sections of the campgrounds are next to a creek, not the falls. I don't remember seeing any hammocks, I don't think the trees in the campgrounds are sturdy enough to hold a hammock, however I might be wrong I would ask about the hammock when you call to make the reservations.

    Very nice video April !!! When did you go down there?
    It's our dream to do this hike and see this magnificent waterfalls!
    We wanted to go last year when we were on vacation in Arizona but impossible to get a reservation even months ago so we couldn't go there :(
    What advice would you give us to have an easy booking? (We called in March for August 2016 and called back several times but were told it was always full ... Or can we go there without reservation?
    We want to go to Havasupai the next time we go to Arizona, your video makes us dream!!! :D

      Florence Piessen Hi Florence! we went on April of last year, we had 3 people calling on the same day around the same hours, until someone answered! I know it can be a little difficult but it's worth it, keep on calling back until someone picks up the phone, I'll leave you the link where you can find all of the phone numbers and info theofficialhavasupaitribe.com/Havasupai-Camping/havasupai-camping.html
      Thank you for watching our video, if you have any questions just let me know ☺

      Thank you for your answer April!
      Yes we called several times and were able to get 3 or 4 times someone on the phone who told us that the reservations were already full for the season without knowing which day we wanted to come :(
      Do you think that being a foreigner is a problem? For if we are told every time it is full we will never go there :( Or is it possible to go down without a reservation?
      Thanks again! :)

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому +1

      Florence Piessen you do need to make reservations I would not advise you to go down there without one, have you tried the hotel? maybe they have space, perhaps the campgrounds are currently full, I believe that they set up an internet based reservations for the camping area but it backed fired on them, the amount of reservations that they received was overwhelming, so they went back to their old system which is calling in and making the reservation. Currently Havasupai is a popular place to visit, I know that it fills up pretty quickly months in advance. It doesn't matter that you are a foreigner, when we went we saw a lot of people from different parts of the globe.

    Awesome video! Is three days necessary for the hike?

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  8 років тому

      Thank you! I would suggest 3 days; the way that we did it is, we hiked there one day when we got to the campgrounds we set up our tent and the next day we used it to explore around and the third day we came back up. Does that answer your question? I think it's safe to say that we walked 3 days straight haha

    Hi guys, nice video and very useful, i wonder can you give me some advise about the water, i see in the video he is drinking of filling the water, is it ok to use it for drinking? how long did you guys camp there, and when did you go, did you experience any rain during your camp? how is the toilet facilities, i am sorry for many Qs as i will be going 1st time. Thnx in advance for your advise

    • @Quiturrio
      @Quiturrio  7 років тому

      sri Prateeka Hello! We went in April, we stayed 3 days 2 nights. We drank water out of the faucets because we where told that the water was ok to drink, one of the persons in the campgrounds had a water tester to verify that the water was potable, he mentioned to us that it was perfect, regardless we checked everyday with the people that work in the area to verify the water was ok, also my sister took water pills in case we needed them.
      Before going there we checked the weather report to see how the area was going to be during the days we where there, and it said that we where going to get light rain, so we made sure to pack up some ponchos and verify that our tents where water proof, once the rain came we where ready! be aware, some centipedes looking bugs come out when it rains, they never harmed us, they only look scary.
      As for the toilets they have latrines with toilet paper and some hay looking stuff to throw once your done, no flushing toilets, nothing fancy, because of the hay stuff it does not smell as bad, also I read somewhere that they sometimes run out of toilet paper so just in case we took a roll.
      For the flash floods I honestly don't know much about the subject, except if anybody is at risk they will not let you do certain activities, like go to beaver falls or mooney falls.
      Hope this helps! if you have any other questions just let me know ☺
