I just returned this morning from Zion, the shuttles are free.I didn't see antying about a private shuttles from zion outtfitters -where I rented my narrows water gear and took a shower for $8. Yesterday, Friday July 1st, I was at the park by 7am, parked at the visitors center and was on a shuttle to angels landing within 20mins. When I returned at 11:30 (not much of a line for shuttle at the grotto) the line at the Visiters Center was massive. Regarding parking at the VC, cars come and go all day, I easily scored a space at 3:30pm on thursday. One last thing, I stayed at the best western surestay (newer hotel great breakfast) in La Virken which is 17 miles from the park entrance. Cost 126.00 including all taxes. When I seach for videos I always fiilter by date so that I get the lastest information:)
Such great content. We went in the Spring May 10 -17 and since then private tour shuttles have stopped and so have the ticket reservations. Waiting in line for the [ark shuttle now can be long as one to two hours and the patience levels grows thin. I would rent a bike or an e bike for sure next time. Shuttles stop at five o'clock pm to go to the different trails and only pick up until hikers until 8 o'clock pm to take you back to the visitor center to leave. What we experienced is with most parks the visitor center clears out (at least in May) by 4:00 this means the park is emptied out and we drove right in for tons of parking. The trails are almost deserted. Therefore, if you have a bike the park is open 24/7 and hiking after five (when the shuttles are not running) is BEAUTIFUL. The shuttle driver said if you miss the last shuttle out you will have to walk the nine miles back to the visitor center from The Narrows. Most people are afraid to miss the shuttles and the morning hours are the most crowded. YIKES. You can't call an uber.
Thanks for watching. Yeah that's great info as well. Thanks so much for sharing. Yeah we did know that since this video was released, there has been changes to the shuttle system. Either way, it's a bit of a hassle for sure.
Great content thanks so much for this info. You are 10000% accurate saying no one else has this content. Leaving for Zion Wednesday. I feel more prepared after this video than the last 17 days of research.
We are SO GLAD to hear that! This makes it all worth it. Thanks for watching and for the feedback! That really helps us know we are making good content.. Hope you have a great trip!
We were there in June- shuttles in town and the park are free to ride, they run constantly. North Rim of Grand Canyon is more spectacular, but Zion is a must see!
@@go_outdoor_recreation For sure. Summer is WAY too crowded. Insane wait times standing in line. Winter time is super quiet, I drove and parked anywhere no problem
Wish I’d watched this before going to Zion. We took our kids 31 years ago and it was awesome. Took our granddaughters this week and it was crazy crowded. It was like Disney World, long lines and horrible crowds.
It’s unfortunate that videos can’t be updated, because as you’ve acknowledged the shuttles are now free. When shuttles aren’t in use, the parking in lots is insane. On March 2, the Angels Landing parking lot was full by 7:45 am. Narrows Parking lot full at 9:45 am (could have been earlier than that). Road into Zion was fully closed by 11 am. So shuttle system seems confining, but at least you have the option of getting to the trails. With self parking, there is no option if no parking spaces available.
Good Video thanks, but the video or comments need updating, for instance you no longer book the zion shuttle, it's first come first serve. (also come April 1st 2022, angels landing you'll need a permit to hike). As said, during spring and summer go super early to the most popular hikes angels landing and/or the narrows. You won't be only one there at 6am but you will be with all the serious hikers and prepared people. By 9/10am it's amateur city with every clueless hiker out there to compete with, and let me tell you they're annoying to be around. Go early with the serious and prepared hikers.
I am trying to do my homework and plan out my a 30 day southern cross country trip. I have watched tons of vidoes probably 100 or more and your video was great! Exactly like you said it was a insiders tips and tricks sort of video and gave information I didn’t find in the other videos I watched! Keep up the good work!
A lot of the info maybe out dated, like the shuttle buses and parking, we just got back, parking at the visitor center is hit and miss, not sure on the cost if any to park in Springdale the shuttle to the visitor center from Springdale is free. We arrived the first day about noon and got a parking spot, the next day arrived about 9AM and lots of parking available. (Maybe time of year and it was mid-week) we jumped on and off the shuttle buses that took you from the visitor center into the park no permits or fee required.

As a local i will correct your pronunciation. It sounds more like " hurr-a-kin". Whatever. This is a good place. We are entirely dependent on tourism at this time. If you are interested in J W Powell, the Colorado River, the Mormons, native Americans, atomic bomb testing, botany, birdwatching etc, this is a good place to visit. The $35 entrance fee to Zion National Park is a 1 time purchase that lasts for 7 days. So if you spend the $35 and go back the next 2 days you will not have to pay that fee again.
@@jayinla228 Bryce is about 2 hours away. But the annual pass can be used at national parks, forests, monuments etc. If you plan on going to more than 2 national parks in a year then it’s worth paying for the pass. If not then the one time fee makes more sense.

@@carolhiggins1560 yes, there were signs and warnings. They told us not to put our heads under the water and not to drink it. As long as you don't do that you should be fine!
Thank you for this video. It was the most helpful out of all the videos that we reviewed. The Annual Pass was a huge savings as we did grand, Zion, and Bryce canyons. At one of them, there was a special line for pass holders that was faster.
Thanks for watching. Please let us know any more tips you might have about zion national park! We've had a couple people point out that $35 pass is for a week, not a day, so keep that in mind. We still recommend an annual pass because that will get you into other national parks and save you money (not sponsored). Also, as of the end of May, you no longer have to use recreation.gov to get tickets for shuttle. As of June 6, most of the private shuttles have stopped running. Red Rock shuttle will stop on the 15th.
Thank you for, Your information. This gave me so much information. This is the best website for Zion National Park. My wife is from Russia we had a, Amazing time thanks again
I just thank God I started going to the N. Ps. In the late 80s back then going to the parks, the park would be yours to explore, very few people back then
I did angels landing twice, second time I cut it by an hour at about 3 hours round trip. I highly suggest doing it early; got inside the park by 6 am and the trail was empty. Coming down was not congested at all. There’s a lotto system for it now but I agree the crowds definitely played a factor in the time to do the chains (first time was in spring compared to the second time in the winter)
Thanks so much for a great video!! Very well done! We have liked and subscribed and will be watching the rest of your videos! We will be heading out to Utah for a month and a half in April! Can’t wait! Can you write your video really did have a lot of tips did not. Loved the detailed gear guide and tips!! Shorts it is! (So ummm…how do you go #1 with the suits? I know they tell you to just go in the River but your trying to stay dry and not smell lol any spots to go off and go? Not sure I can hold it for a 1/2 day) thanks!! Ny the way I say Zion same way. Tomato/tomato lol. Thanks again!!
Thank you so much for watching. So glad this info was helpful. Honestly, there are tons of people and few places to privately pull over to use the restroom. My husband did find spots to stop and use the restroom. He would just pull the straps down from his shoulders and go. Definitely much easier for him. I would not recommend going in the waiters. If you do that it will stay inside the waiters. Females should get shewees and just bring those along. Hope that’s helpful. Also there are bathrooms at the beginning of every hike so definitely go before you start.
Hi! We are also going in april. I am so curious about the weather at this time. Did you do the narrows? I hear the water can be quite high. As far as angels landing, was the walk to scouts la ding dangerous? Or just he chained part? I know you post was a while ago but I saw 'April' and hoped you could help
Thanks for sharing the tips about parking at the visitor's center early around 5am. Question about bathroom access - are they open before the regular visitor center's hours (8am)?
That was an interesting and helpful video, thanks! I was just curious about your take on things, as I was debating a visit to Zion during my kid’s spring break. I’m a Utah native and grew up going to Zion, and boy has it become a totally different experience over the years. I’m in my late forties, and as a teen my family were able to leave Provo in the morning, drive 4 hours down to Zion, and still snag a first come first serve campsite by the park entrance! Never gonna happen now. Twenty years ago you could get to the visitor parking lot mid to late morning and still get a spot. The last few times we’ve taken our kids to Zion, we’ve just driven up through the tunnel and found places to hike around up there, I think the last time we did the shuttle was about 7 years ago, it’s just kind of an exhausting process. But I think now that our youngest is 11 maybe we will brave it again soon and take the kids up the Narrows. Last time we did that was before we had kids. Also did Angels Landing before kids… but there is NO way I’m taking them up there any time soon. Even growing up in Utah, Zion is a spectacular place. Thanks for your tips… we may get some gear from Zion Outfitters next time!
You’re welcome. Also, it means a lot to hear a Utah native find this video helpful. Last thing we want to do is say things that aren’t true and cause natives to roll their eyes. Glad to see we are doing a good job. Hassle or not, it was so beautiful and I’m sure it will be amazing to bring your 11 year old for the first time! Thanks again for watching
These tips are awesome, went last October, and didn't know Scout's Lookout was on the same trail or close to Angel's landing! And we did see people in waders and sticks at the Narrows, we didn't go but just walked along that trail. Next time we'll rent the equipment for sure! Also a place that I recommend is staying in St. George it's 45 minute drive from Zion's. And you don't want to miss Snow Canyon and several beautiful hikes right by St. George.
We were there in mid June. Get there early, like she said 530 am early to get a parking spot and get in line for the shuttle. We did the narrows in the morning. Less people. highlight of the trip! Rent the boots and stick! The afternoon in the narrows was packed with people. Great tips! I wish I had done angels, but I didn’t think there was enough chains, so we decided against it.
Good info, the only advice I disagree with is the hiking the Narrows in the afternoon...at least in the summer thunderstorms are common and the Narrows will get flooded.
Oh great tip. Yeah we had one day and did scouts lookout in the morning and narrows in the evening. I think it’s for us it was less about the narrows and more about attempting angels landing with as few people as possible.
Book that shuttle ticket a month out. They are available on the 16th and the LAST day of each month. I booked my May 25th ticket when the window of opportunity opened on April 16th, at 9AM MST.
I'm going to Hurricane UT, decided to not got to Zion 35 to get in, yes it lasts 7 days. There are so many other close by national parks just as good. I want to Avoid the Crowds!! I will do so. 😉
We had an RV. We were boondocking and I got up at 5:30AM to drive to the Visitor Center. By 8AM, there were a ton of cars blatantly ignoring the signs for RVs only and taking up any space they could fit in. The place is a zoo and people act like animals when they are desperate. In that way, Zion was uber-annoying.
www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/upload/FY23Spring-Infosheet.pdf That link will show all the hikes. I would start with Par’us trail and or watchman trail, because it starts right at the visitor center. Par’us is easy, watchman is moderate. Depending on how it goes if your kids are interested in more afterwards, you can refer to that link and pick others! Hope that helps
National Parks are amazing. The many fees and protocols can be a deterrent. I'll sacrifice maximum beauty for fewer crowds, fewer fees and fewer hoops to jump through.
Totally understand. Zion is in the top 5 most visited national parks. So yes you definitely would experience a lot of people and long wait times for sure.
Currently there are warnings of nasty bacteria in the water, which has killed some dogs who drank water. Strongly suggest wader to keep the water out of any cuts or scrapes. Unless you are immune-compromise, then maybe pick another hike
Thanks for answering all my questions. The link for the shuttle you provided outsources shuttle services to Red Rock shuttles, is this the company you used? I see their prices are k7ch higher than 40$, was that juts for one day or per trip? Please elaborate on how they charge and for what, thanks again!
No problem at all! The shuttle system has changed since we were there so it’s possible that the prices have changed as well. We have heard that the new public shuttle system is free. The national park website has more information as well.
As of 6/6 many of the private shuttles have been shut down since the NPS shuttle is no longer requiring passes. There is at least one that will still be operating til 6/15. “Red rock”.
What an amazing video for a first timer with fam coming over. Sorry in advance, couldn’t find anything on this but I am currently trying to buy the 2024 American the Beautiful Annual Pass. My trip is in 2 days so I won’t receive the pass in time as it can take up to 2 weeks according to the website. Is my only option to buy it at the Visitors Center?
Im so glad it was helpful! You get off at the gotto stop. Once you start at the grotto, you do Scout's lockout first and that leads to angels landing. Hope this helps!
The 3 days of visiting wouldn’t have caused you $100+ if you pay for it it’s good for 1 week. Also Zion doesn’t require shuttle passes anymore. There is a long line but it’s not required. We just came back 2 weeks ago from there.

@@carolhiggins1560 yes, there were signs and warnings. They told us not to put our heads under the water and not to drink it. As long as you don't do that you should be fine!
If you have a large group the best deal for accommodations is an AirBnb in hurricane
Totally agree! Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video. It was the most helpful out of all the videos that we reviewed. The Annual Pass was a huge savings as we did grand, Zion, and Bryce canyons. At one of them, there was a special line for pass holders that was faster.
That’s so good to hear. That annual pass really is too good to be true. I’m glad this was helpful and thanks for watching!
I’m going there this weekend, thank you for this!
No problem. Enjoy!
Good practical advice
Thanks! And thanks for watching
Thanks!! very helpful, we will be visiting in Septmeber
Have a great trip! Thanks for watching
Thank you for, Your information.
This gave me so much information.
This is the best website for Zion National Park.
My wife is from Russia we had a, Amazing time thanks again
Thank you so much for watching. We are so glad this was helpful!
I just thank God I started going to the N. Ps. In the late 80s back then going to the parks, the park would be yours to explore, very few people back then
Yeah that sounds amazing. Nowadays it's hard to have it to yourself, but its still beautiful and amazing!
@@MilletsGo by the grace of God I hope to get out there this summer , I will be visiting the state parks and camp on BLM land . Peace
There’s thousands upon thousands of acres of national forests to explore. Get on google earth. Carve your Own path.
@@07wrxtr1 I have done so on many an occasion
The tree behind you is awesome
Big beautiful tree in city park nola
Angel's Landing? The last half-mile up was easier than down...and TOTALLY worth it!!! And I'm...old.
That's amazing!
That's why I went down "rappel style"...backward! 100% easier.
Thanks, very good tips
You’re welcome
What a fantastic video THANK YOU!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Those are some great tips especially the one about the shuttle. Thank you.
You’re welcome
I did angels landing twice, second time I cut it by an hour at about 3 hours round trip. I highly suggest doing it early; got inside the park by 6 am and the trail was empty. Coming down was not congested at all. There’s a lotto system for it now but I agree the crowds definitely played a factor in the time to do the chains (first time was in spring compared to the second time in the winter)
Great info. Yeah earlier is better. Last thing you want to do is be up there with tons of people everywhere. Thanks for watching
Now you have to have a permit to go to that trail, I think that is supposed to help with congestion
I know you post was a while ago but I saw 'April' and hoped you could help
good information ... thank you!
You’re welcome
Wow, awesome tips!!! Hoping to get out to Zion soon.....looks like we're going with the Zion Outfitters Co! Thanks you so much! 🙏
Definitely a good call! You won't regret it.
Thanks for sharing the tips about parking at the visitor's center early around 5am. Question about bathroom access - are they open before the regular visitor center's hours (8am)?
There are bathrooms by the beginnings of the hikes and I believe they are open 24 7
It’s crazy how you don’t have millions of subscribers!
Oh thanks. I agree
Shutter System is Perfect
Bike rental I can try next
Best of luck
I think the shuttle system recently changed
These tips are awesome, went last October, and didn't know Scout's Lookout was on the same trail or close to Angel's landing! And we did see people in waders and sticks at the Narrows, we didn't go but just walked along that trail. Next time we'll rent the equipment for sure! Also a place that I recommend is staying in St. George it's 45 minute drive from Zion's. And you don't want to miss Snow Canyon and several beautiful hikes right by St. George.
That’s awesome. Thanks for the tips
Was it crowded in October?
Awesome. Thank you so much! Super helpful!
So glad to hear. Let us know how your experiences is when you go!
This was so helpful! Thank you! 💜
You’re welcome
Much appreciated. Great tips x
You’re welcome
Great info and presentation!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Great video, thanks for all the tips. Are you recording this video in Southwood at Tallahassee Fl.?
No we are not
We are going in august and this video really helps in planning. Thank you
Awesome. Glad to hear that. Hope you have a great trip!
Wonderful video! I'm a bit confused regarding the shuttle, I thought it was free?
Thanks for watching. Sorry for the confusion. This video was released during Covid. The shuttle system has changed and I believe it is free now
@@MilletsGo ahh makes sense! thank you
This was very helpful. Heading out there tomorrow. Staying in 'Hercin' lol
So glad to hear that! Hope you have an amazing trip!
I was not able to get all the way up to angels landing either. I attempted a couple feet but turned around. I didn’t want to be number 14 either.
Yeah way too sketchy
Thanks for the video
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching
Thank you! Super helpful!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Thanks for all the tips! I'm going next month.
Great! You're gonna love it!
Book that shuttle ticket a month out. They are available on the 16th and the LAST day of each month. I booked my May 25th ticket when the window of opportunity opened on April 16th, at 9AM MST.
You don't need a shuttle ticket anymore!
I'm going to Hurricane UT, decided to not got to Zion 35 to get in, yes it lasts 7 days. There are so many other close by national parks just as good. I want to Avoid the Crowds!! I will do so. 😉
Yes utah has incredible national parks. Definitely an incredible experience no matter where in utah.
Hey Krystal! I am in Hurricane now trying to figure out if I should go to Zion tomorrow. What other parks would you recommend that are nearby?
Rosie check out Snow Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Red Cliffs National Park
@@krystalwirth9646 thanks girl! 💖
That’s amazing
Helpful video. Are there any easy hikes that you suggest? Planning on being there for 2 days but my kids don't love hiking. Thank you
www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/upload/FY23Spring-Infosheet.pdf
That link will show all the hikes.
Nice video! Doing my research for a trip in April!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
thanks for this helpful info. and hey, it that city park?
Yes it is. We filmed this after the fact in city park in New Orleans. Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!
Currently there are warnings of nasty bacteria in the water, which has killed some dogs who drank water. Strongly suggest wader to keep the water out of any cuts or scrapes. Unless you are immune-compromise, then maybe pick another hike
Great tip
Thanks for answering all my questions. The link for the shuttle you provided outsources shuttle services to Red Rock shuttles, is this the company you used? I see their prices are k7ch higher than 40$, was that juts for one day or per trip? Please elaborate on how they charge and for what, thanks again!
No problem at all! The shuttle system has changed since we were there so it’s possible that the prices have changed as well. We have heard that the new public shuttle system is free. The national park website has more information as well.
I did not want to be number 14😄. That was epic!
Haha well I definitely didn't!
Great information!!!
You’re welcome
As of 6/6 many of the private shuttles have been shut down since the NPS shuttle is no longer requiring passes. There is at least one that will still be operating til 6/15. “Red rock”.
Thanks for the updated info!
So shuttles are free? No passes?
@@Sportdiva7 no passes but you obviously still have to pay the 35 dollars to get into the park
Really well explained 👏👌 .. thank you so much. New subscriber here
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Thank you spending a week here solo in mid October cannot wait!!!
Awesome. Have a great trip!
Me too hoping it’s an OK time of the year to do this
Same! I hope we all have a great time!
What an amazing video for a first timer with fam coming over. Sorry in advance, couldn’t find anything on this but
I am currently trying to buy the 2024 American the Beautiful Annual Pass. My trip is in 2 days so I won’t receive the pass in time as it can take up to 2 weeks according to the website. Is my only option to buy it at the Visitors Center?
I would definitely ask if they have them but there’s a good chance that they won’t have them and it will only be general admission
This is really help...just a follow up question, where did you start the Scout Overlook hike? at the Grotto stop following the West Rim Trail?
Im so glad it was helpful! You get off at the gotto stop. Once you start at the grotto, you do Scout's lockout first and that leads to angels landing. Hope this helps!
Lots of good info, I go in 4 weeks
Awesome! Have a great trip. Thanks for watching!
The 3 days of visiting wouldn’t have caused you $100+ if you pay for it it’s good for 1 week. Also Zion doesn’t require shuttle passes anymore. There is a long line but it’s not required. We just came back 2 weeks ago from there.
Thanks for the updated info. And yes, our mistake about the $35 pass
