I sat in a riverbed, and a whole family of 4 platypus swam up to me. Looked me up and down. Then continued on their way. Magic. I will never forget that day.
They were judging you really hard and to this day tell tales down their line about that one human that looked at them funny 😂😂
They looked in utter disgust and swam away. I'm still jealous though
that wasn't a family the only time they gather in numbers is during battles over territory. ur lucky to be alive.
Beautiful!! I'm glad you experienced that, you cannot put a price tag on that.🥰
how could the things that people say made the universe get here is there was nothing God made it all so many prophecies are being filled from revelations telling us that Jesus is coming back they are happing right now in the world he loves and cares😊❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Last thing I thought I'd see today was a baby platypus roll over and realize it's the cutest thing ever.
⁹
Young platypus are called a puggle
Wasn’t it? Too cute ☺️
I've read and watch many things about platypus but the fact they use their tails was new and so intriguing to me
Same! Is there anything about these creatures that _isn't_ fascinating?!
When one of the first platypus (corpses?) was sent to London, they declared it was an obvious fake and could see the stitches holding it together.
What?
I guess we see what we expect.
Platypuses also glow teal in ultraviolet light incase u didnt know
@@somedudefromapharmacywait is that where Perry’s coloring comes from?!
@@Omega_speed no lol, Dan Povenmire chose that color for Perry because he thought it looked cool.
The photographer is so sweet as well, the joy he takes in his work and nature is so beautiful!
IKR? How does one sign up for this position; I would do it for free.
He looks so happy, how wonderful it is to do things that one really likes.
I bought a digital camera with a decent zoom lens a year or two ago, and it still brings me so much joy to just sit back and take pictures of all kinds of common birds visiting my balcony on a foraging trip, for a sip of water or to take a quick bath. It brings me so much joy every time. Nature is beautiful and we should preserve it where possible. Even cities can harbour all kinds of life if done right. I’ve been ill for the past year, but I hope to become a wildlife photographer. For now it’s just urban wildlife, but it’s nature nonetheless.

The way his face melted when he saw the baby 😭
I'm so impressed with how much strength and dexterity the mom had in her tail! I knew they used it to swim and maneuver, but to see it used in such a manner, like a giant grabber was amazing! The baby was absolutely precious, especially as they bumbled about. Utterly adorable.
Amazing mother! BTW, where is that dad? 😃😂
Yeah I was just a stunned, I had no idea their tail had so much utility other than for swimming.
Had absolutely NO CLUE.
I'm your 1K like 😀
He’s gonna grow up to be the best secret agent
American GARBAGE joke. Shut the fuck up.
But he's a photographer already...
@@AudioJellyfish😐
This odd-looking creature has a bill and webbed feet like a duck, a body and fur like an otter, and a tail like a beaver. It lays eggs like a chicken, burrows like a wombat, and suckles its young like a mother bear. Little wonder that the first scientist to examine one suspected that it was a hoax!
AKCHUYALLY their eggs are leathery like those of lizards, not hard-shelled like those of birds. But yeah when European naturalists first got their hands on a taxidermied one in 1799 they considered it a hoax - not unreasonably, as Frankensteining up chimeric taxidermies out of several different critters had a long and storied pedigree. The _Wolpertinger_ out of German folklore is a well-known and prolific example and the platypus is almost as bizarre.
I never expected them to be that size! They're quite adorable!
When they are born, they are about the size of a jellybean.
even the adults are teeny tiny! they’re like shockingly small, you could probably hold them and they’d fill both your hands
Very smol, indeed!
I think people assume they're beaver sized, because they're often described as having "the body of a beaver"
I think most people assume platypi are either beaver-sized due to how often it’s compared to a beaver in shape
Or “small-ish dog” sized due to Phineas and Ferb, not taking into account that Perry is a cartoon character with artistic liberties taken to proportions and anatomy
OMG, who knew platypus have a prehensile tail?! Amazing!! They're pretty adorable.
I was thinking the same I had no idea they’d carry stuff like that
these creatures always find a way to surprise us so cute
I never knew that either. The internet has a lot of garbage, but also many wonderful things.
I’m so glad that I clicked on this today. It’s a wonderful break from all the horrors that are happening in the world right now. Thank you.
Yep. Definitely takes my mind off the sirens.
real
Clicked for the same reason. This is a short clip of an approx hour long doco made in Tasmania, Australia which was released on the ABC(Australian version), earlier this year. I definitely recommend watching the whole doco, it's great. Glad to see it's reaching overseas audiences.
Me too! So cute and such a break
Australian wildlife is magnificent, it’s incredible to see it thrive amidst all the adversity. Never give into despair, y’all. ❤
2:15 the way he looks at her is so beautiful, you can tell he loves his job 🥺
Get you a man who looks at you the way he looks at that platypus 🤗
@@pisse3000 HAHAHA FOR REAL 🙌
Wonderful and super cute, especially his tumbles.
mommy mommy, look at this
Annnd down he goes. Again. 😊
those tumbles and underbelly especially 😊
I don't know which is more wholesome, the baby platypus or the photographer.
The mom is so well camouflaged and she glides through the water and mud like a hockey puck. I’ve never actually seen a platypus in its natural habitat before. They really are fascinating
I was eight. In third grade we were making any animal we wanted out of clay. I made a platypus. My dad had it on his desk for years and years. Not sure where it’s gone to, but I still remember it. I so enjoyed this video and the memories….
For all we know it’s probably living a secret life as a lil clay platypus agent.
@@Hunny_Bunn2004
Oh, what a lovely thought! Thank you for sharing it! 👏🏻💖
That's a lovely story. Your dad clearly loved your platypus.
@@tdb7992~ Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed it. He did. He also loved my yellow bird I embroidered in the first grade. 😉
There's a kid in my 1st grade class who's just discovered the platypus and is obsessed. I think he's gonna love this video.
Glad to see birds are also confused by such a strange creature, lmao. Lovely footage. They are adorable.
The fact that the smile never leaves this man's face brings me so much joy. He truly loves these animals.
The way the little guy tumbled into the water was so, so cute! What a precious creature.
Thank you for giving us Perry the Platypus origin story.
lol
What a cutie
Wishing the
Platypus longevity
And much success
It's wonderful to have people appreciate the efforts of other creatures to live and survive.
And UA-cam creators, as well.
2:13-2:18 look how passionate this guy is about his work. Awesome.
its official, the platypus is my favourite animal now
Move over koala bear!
I've always been captivated by these unique little animals...and this is the first time I have ever seen a pup. Thank you so very much for sharing...God bless...
They are called "puggles", instead of pups.
wait which God? Just want to be clear. There's SO many!
@@Somethinghumble Jesus, son of God.
@@Mere-Lachaiselongue Isn't everyone a child of God? Or at least one of them?
@@RealFarknMcCoythere's actually no official term at all for young platypuses, and both "platypup" and "puggle" are used. For whatever reason (presumably because people think the word is cute, which is understandable), the idea that puggle is somehow "correct" is commonly stated.
To the extent that it's widely used, it's possible that it's slowly becoming true (since this is a living language and all!) But of course you'll note he doesn't use the term in this video, for example and says "young platypus", which is around as official as it gets.
This video is wonderful and to see Zoom's healthy baby is great. That is one very cute, adorable platypus.
I hope he has a long, happy and safe life.
🇦🇺
I'm just amazed the photographer was able to get so close. They are one of the most timid animals I know of, and consider it a treat if spotted in the wild. I suspect these platypus are used to people.
@@fleetingfacet ^^ Idiot talking.
I suspect this was filmed in Tasmania, where the platypus are more diurnal than on the mainland... as they spend more time out & about in daylight they don't tend to spook as easily. But with any wild animal, a little know-how and _a lot_ of patience can reap rewards... and I guarantee that he spent many, _many_ wet & chilly hours patiently waiting to get those few minutes of footage!
I had no idea a platypus could curl their tail like that! It's so wonderful to learn new things about animals, especially in well-made videos such as this. Thank you!
Wish the little one and long and healthy life. Thanks for this lovely video.
Fascinating and adorable. Such a strange form, our mammal relatives.
Makes me wonder what the Triassic looked like!
Why did I cry watching this... this is exactly the kind of wholesome heartwarming content I need right now.
Don’t we all.🤗💕 take care 😍
I cried too! It's because this is pure love, dedication and life
Both the photographer and the platypus are so lovely ♥ I love watching the little platy roll down and get right back up!
He was adorable! What a little chubby guy!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a little one like that!! Blessings to him and his Mama always! 🙏🏻😍😍😍💙🩷🩵💚💜
Too cute, amazing footage!
The cutest little chunky baby. ❤
I'm chunky too 😢
I want to hug that baby platypus and give it love, it's so cute!
they are a venomous animal and could kill you with their sting
@@klondike69none85 only males have venomous spurs and while it is excruciatingly painful it wont kill you, though it is so painful people wish they were dead, so still not something you want to pick up without training under an experienced platypus handler first(yes those exist)
@@dororexgaming4205 either way probably not a good idea to hug them like this person wanted to do lol
@@klondike69none85 true, I also think it's illegal to touch a wild platypus aswell haha

Usually, I'm not a fan of slimy hairy things but my god this baby platypus is too precious! Hope he grows out of the klutziness soon.
The little butt wiggles at 2:25 . My heart melts.
They are amazing and adorable. They use their tails to carry things. ❤
Baby platypodes are just so ridiculously cute 🤣
Did anyone know they carry leaves using their tails? amazing!
Nope, no idea.. First time ever I see this.
The camera man has such a great demeanor.
You know it shouldn't surprise me after the beak, the eggs, the milk sweat, the venomous spurs, the electroreception abilities, the lack of a stomach, and the blue glow under ultraviolet light; but the fact that the platypus can hold stuff with their tails like that is a surprise.
What an animal
Watching this baby platypus struggle just to get into the water, it makes me wonder how any of them make it to adulthood. This eally was a special moment captured on camera.
Agent P's childhood
practicing his iconic barrel rolls since it was a baby
I was looking for this comment
watching the baby platypus tumble is the cutest thing
And that baby platypus grew up to be the best secerent agent in the Tri-state area 🫡
What a blessing to see them. Thank you!
What a gift to watch this today. We need more of this in today’s world ❤
I had no idea they used their tails like that!
Me either. And now I'm wondering if beavers use their similar tails the same way.
Such amazing creatures❣️
City? Does he mean Melbourne? There are plans to reintroduce the platypus to the Torrens River in Adelaide too 😁 They’ll have to get the water a lot cleaner!
I was referring to Hobart, where the The Platypus Guardiann documentary is set :-)
Those are the cutest (and strangest) animals I've seen in a while. I couldn't even believe my eyes when that poor little thing started tumbling over... Too cute.
I enjoyed watching this and wish it was longer, great video and so adorable 😊
And this was how Perry was born, he's done very well for himself since his clumsy days!
These creatures are remarkable! That tail !
That was magical! Thanks for sharing it with us all ❤
This is cute. The area here had a platypus erradication program a while back, I hope some made it and were thriving.
This is an amazing piece of art
I never knew they used their tail either. Amazingly cute.
I was blessed to see one paddling around in a creek in a downpour near Mullum in Australia while volunteering on my travels. I get why he’s wearing that amazing clothing, because I came away with a nice big blood filled leech attached to me from having stood still in rapt attention at the platypus for so long LOL
We also have ticks that can cause paralysis, so safety first 😅
Such a wholesome video to see on a stressful day. Thank you
Thank you so much 🥰 sharing this video 😊
Oh my god I had no clue their tails were prehensile! These weirdos get more amazing every time I see something about them.
I had no idea they used their tails like that. My day has been significantly improved
I had no clue they carry nesting material with their tails. That is so adorable.
That was amazing to see! Thank you!
The Platypus is such an amazing animal. They're so fascinating.
I didn’t know I needed to see a baby platypus tumble over, but it’s actually the cutest thing
Oh, what a treat.
What a beautiful video. Thank you.😊
Platypus are my favorite animal. Amazing put together of everything.
Cutest animal on earth! There are two in San Diego at the Safari park so now I have seen one in person ❤
So beautiful! And I just love the photographer's joy and care for this oh-so-important species and their home.
He's a nice gentle Soul.
Agh the way the baby wiggled its bum
Wait a minute. Out of the burrow means out of mom’s care?! OMG, the poor little thing can barely stop rolling onto his back. Absolutely precious ❤
Thank you for this content.

Thanks! This is amazing.
Wow, that was adorable footage!
ADORABLE! Be safe little fella!
What an adorable little peanut! ❤
Saw this docu on PBS Nature just mesmerised me
This dude is living the dream 🥺
I am waiting for this episode anxiously❤
I didn’t know platypuses (platypi?) Carried nesting materials with their tails! So cute!!
Platypuses. Since it's a Greek root word, it would be "platypodes" if you wanted to go there, but scientists just say "platypuses" generally.
@@FangsFirst We generally use _'platypus'_ as the plural form as well (eg. "five platypus were released..."), but _'platypuses'_ is also correct. 👍
The cutest thing I’ve seen today
Magical creatures, so tiny and fragile. God bless them.
I would die for this platypus.
This documentary was so beautiful!
Wow many THANKS for such a great video I adore duck billed platypus and was thrilled to learn how a female carries home the bedding
First time I have seen a wild platypus in situ. Just magical. Such a unique animal. ❤❤❤
Subscribed! Looks like they're posting the whole episode on the 18th.
Amazing to be able to capture such unique moments of nature.
That bird was like, “Gaaaah a freak! I hear it nurses young but lays eggs and has a venomous barb!!!”
The tail-grip is LEGIT amazing! Can't believe I didn't know they could do that!
This is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my entire life
