Number two was the most engaged and excited I’ve ever been in a nature documentary. I was listening in my car and the bass from all the sound effects were INSANE
I've loved David Attenoorough for 30 years, since the first time I saw one of his documentaries. He has that quality that so many of us have lost: of being curious and intrigued by everything he comes in contact with in the natural world. He still has that child-like quality of WANTING to know about new things, rather than being afraid of them. He has also been incredibly lucky to find out what sparked his passion at a very early age, and the good fortune - for him and all the rest of us - to be able to simultaneously make a living doing what he loves, and inform, entertain and pass on that passion to other generations. His contribution to learning and nature is immeasurable, and the world owes him a debt of gratitude.
I find it rather revulsive because it's not so much the mother than the first born initiative. Owls and birds of prey kill one/some of their chicks when they are not able to feed them all, and give the sacrificed chicks to feed to the others.

@@damarapapaefstathiou8795 To actually see these animals in three D has got to be better that One dimension any day. A book can only show you a photo of that animal while film shows you their character as well and how they interact in the wild giving you a much better understanding of the animal.
I always feel so bad for that polar bear, you can just tell how absolutely desperate he is for a meal, you never really see predators attempt to kill prey multiple times after failing in such a short amount of time, they usually wait for a better opportunity later. So when the polar bear does that, it just goes to show to me that he probably feels that if he doesn't catch and eat something NOW at that moment he will likely starve.
Your comment implies that bears are aware both that they are mortal and that starving to death is possible. I don't believe that's true. They react to their hunger and do what they're programmed to do without putting all the pieces together. It took humanity quite a long time to figure that stuff out.

@@electroandcake6658 , you seem to not be an exceptionally inteligent individual and to be as emotional as a child :-/ Life is a struggle no less then war. In war you get shot. In life I take the good job and you get pushed in the low pay bracket. The bird feels that it must raise the one that is strong enough to win, not the one that requires a crutch, as it has the instinct to spread its genes. Westerner whites are a good example as they have forgotten both that they have an instinct to spread THEIR genes and that life requires top performence, not good feelings. If you were mature or a winner you would have known that as well as people know that kids feelings are a biological adaptation for getting what they need or desire. If you are having an emotional rather then intellectual reaction to what you read, you may be at a higher risk of becoming a poor single mom with children that wont procreate.

All the people who filmed these moments in such mesmerizing beautiful ways and with such style deserve an enormous raise and a statue

I always feel so bad for that polar bear, you can just tell how absolutely desperate he is for a meal, you never really see predators attempt to kill prey multiple times after failing in such a short amount of time, they usually wait for a better opportunity later. Your comment implies that bears are aware both that they are mortal and that starving to death is possible. I don't believe that's true. In the field manual on tactics it is written, "reinforce success, not failure". If you want your genes to persist in this world of eternal struggle, you invest in those that can cope the best. Maybe the western whites need to relearn that lesson.
