People say the echidna's reproduction strategy is weird but I think their high intelligence and ability to dream is the truly odd thing about them. They have such low metabolism and tolerance to low-oxygen environments, I expect them to be stupid yet somehow it is the opposite.
People describe evolution as _"survival of the fittest"_ but a more accurate description is _"survival of the fit enough"._ Their intelligence must be important to their survival, it can't be just some added benefit on top of their other abilities.

    • @chrisdaignault9845

Echidnas DO have superpowers... If they're red and have dreadlocks, they can spread their arms and legs out and the wind catches under the dreadlocks and allows them to glide. They can also climb walls, dig really well, enjoy treasure hunting, protect giant magical gemstones, and sometimes have crushes on extremely feminine bats.
They also like wearing cowboy hats.

Another common problem, particularly in rural/remote areas is echidnas getting hit by vehicles. Their beaks are often hurt, and a broken beak will invariably leads to the echidna dying of starvation because they can’t find food or “chew” it.
