This is so helpful! I haven’t heard of this function before, but it will make reading on my kindle so much easier. I personally love audiobooks a lot because I’m a slow reader 😅
You can change the voice too. For the longest, it sounded like a robot but if you hit a Siri voice, it sounds a lot more normal. Life changing honestly. Thank you for this!!
I am so happy to know this... there are a few books that I don't have audiobook for. I use to only read physical books, then I tried audiobooks for fantasy only.. then once I started with everything audiobook... I'm Hooked!!! I still like to read a physical book, but I crochet, cross stitch, & quilt so I love having the option to do both . thank you for this video. :)

This is helpful! I'm in multiple book clubs and it makes it easier when you don't have time to physically read a book that is not available on audible. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been trying to figure this out for ages! Thanks for your detailed video, now I’m listening to my kindle book while doing some chores around the house!
there really should be a more accessible way to initiate accessibility features. I like that after you’ve turned it on once though you can turn it off and back on by triple clicking the home button though.
They did for the first few kindles that had actual keyboards 😊. One of the main reasons I never upgraded mine when it was actually of value. Currently my Kindle is so old I wouldn't get more than a few dollars 😂😂. I love the text to speech feature and no advertisement feature so it's worth keeping til it's dead 😊.
@@jclyntoledo Congrats! 😉 My newer Kindle doesn’t have ads either (forgot it was a thing), but of course, no text-to-speech feature like on the good old ones.
On the iPhone, you can also change the voice to one of the enhanced voices and it sounds much better. I use this feature when I am reading because I have a form of ADHD also a reading and spelling disability and this just helps me to stay even more focused on the book and I just follow along as it reads and also for me, it just seems like it brings the book more to life, my imagination is just better I guess.
If you have both the audiobook and the kindle version, the experience is so much better for me. I wish I could do immersive reading on the kindle with audiobooks I already have, but unfortunately with audiobooks you have to choose one or the other. On the app it works perfectly. I’ve tried this feature, and while I am definitely happy that it is there for those that require it or like to use it, I couldn’t get used to the voice. To be fair, I sometimes have that issue with normal audiobooks as well, so it is entirely a preference thing. I am glad that this feature worked for you!
I completely see where you are coming from. it can be really hard to follow along sometimes especially during dialogue because of the voice not giving context through emphasis, emotion, or punctuation. but still a helpful tool!
I'm new to Kindle (I know, I know lol) and mainly listen to audiobooks. Is there a way on Kindle to filter by Audiobooks? Also, to add that it seems my son has changed my UA-cam name 😂

Super helpful, thank you so much for this very simple yet super helpful video. I was looking for this feature for so long, I had the speak screen turned in but my speech controller was off. Thanks again.
7 months later…. I have an extreme light sensitivity and use iPhones accessibility feature all the time. It will work for anything on the iPhone screen. The Kindle keyboard (it’s an ancient relic/fossil) will read aloud and it does have a speaker. I’ve tried using Alexa, but struggle with it finding the book I have in my collection. Maybe I’m missing something. The spoken content feature is life changing for me so I can read again. Thank you for letting others know about this great feature.
Thank you so much! My son is hating reading, but he CAN read and loves movies and stories….I think this might be a way to help him read independently far more.

Every kind of reading is lovely but I probably listen to more audio when I’m doing other things. They keep me company while painting or to keep my mind of off housework or to make workouts more fun. If I really love a book like my favourite “Ask And It is Given” by Abraham Hicks or anything by Jane Austen or reference books I’ll get it in every format to pay attention to more details but there are so many genius narrators that make audible my first choice for fiction (even above the film format.) I adore Jim Dale, Rosalyn Landor, Justine Eyre and Mary Jane Wells among so many others talented performers who you wouldn’t guess to be one person and not an entire cast. 💖

it reads aloud any breaks in the paragraphs. you get used to it! I actually am thankful for it because otherwise I may not realize a scene has ended if it just carries on without pausing.

I tried your instructions and gestures on my kindle and scribe. Doesn't work. The gesture does not initiate screen reading. I can connect bluetooth, activate screen reading and navigate but no such screen reading occurs at all. What a waste. Would have been a very helpful tool.
the gestures in this video may only work on the Kindle Paperwhite! maybe look up the gestures for your devices text to voice feature :) otherwise I hope the iphone trick works for you - it’s much less tricky.
I had been using Zoe Enhanced until I read this comment and tried out your suggestion of Siri voice 2, and omg you’re so right. way more natural inflection to her voice!! thank you!! 💫🫶🏻

they really need to make some improvements to it! its really difficult to navigate, even as a sighted person. it is not very intuitive and feels quite inaccessible. I wanted to mention it in case it helps anyone but I likely will only be using this trick on my phone. there’s also more voice options on the iphone which is awesome!
thankfully the kindle app syncs between the phone and the kindle device! so I can listen on my phone then pick up where I left off on my kindle when I am ready to read with my eyes again 🤗

I don’t know how many videos i watched before I could tell my IPhone to read an ebook to me. I guess it took another knitter to do it.
haha we just are on the same wavelength!
How to turn it off 😢
on kindle you triple click to turn it off, on phone you navigate to the same place and turn the controller off!
@ thank you 😊
I enjoy this video very much then.
thank you for watching! 🫶🏻
The most natural voice on your iPhone kindle app is “siri voice 2”.
I had been using Zoe Enhanced until I read this comment and tried out your suggestion of Siri voice 2, and omg you’re so right. way more natural inflection to her voice!! thank you!! 💫🫶🏻
@@morganunraveled You’re Welcome !
Which Siri voice 2 for which country? 😊
how does this work on android anyone?
there is a comment on this post from user Memphis Jones who shared how they did it on their android, I will paste it here: “on my Android I went to settings and accessibility, scroll down to services and turn on Select to Speak. This puts a speaker icon on your screen, when you tap it, select to speak opens a player window over your screen and reads, pauses, forward, etc. but it locks you on that screen. You have to turn it off to move around.
You'll know when it's active because a green banner will be active around your screen. I haven't figured out the voices, but l'm currently using it on my LG Wing android cell phone with the Kindle app. I hope this helps.”
Hope this information helps you!
UA-cam has many full length audio books.
I need to look into that!! 🌟
OMG, did you really use “safe space?” So sick of woke nonsense.
well you definitely won’t like books & literature then either 😜
come to the point. Literallllllyyyyyyyy, BS
The phone hack is great but on the kindle it’s awful lol
they really need to make some improvements to it! its really difficult to navigate, even as a sighted person. it is not very intuitive and feels quite inaccessible.
It doesn’t make literally any book an audiobook! It does not work for kids/picture books
I’m an audio & visual learner. I would love to find an app or device where I can read & listen. Thank you for sharing this. 🫶🏼
that’s such a good point - such an immersive reading experience!
hellloo !! any way to get this feature on macbook? I cant seem to figure it out 🥲
what app are you reading your book on? I will check my macbook and see if I can find the spoken content feature!
