We look at the cables you need to connect external devices to the Sony ICD-ux560.
Stereo RCA to Male 3.5mm cable
Female XLR (stereo/mono) to male 3.5mm
USB to female 3.5mm and male to male 3.5mm
6.25mm (1/4 inch) to female 3.5mm and male to male 3.5mm
For phones, a TRRS splitter and male to male 3.5mm

I have a lavalier mic for smartphiones that comes with a TRRS to TRS adapter.
Recording on Smartphones results in stereo but with the adapter on the Sony ICD it results in only the left channel so mono being recorded.
Did you find a setting to record PCM Mono or a way to make it stereo even fake stereo within the recorder (I only found MP3 48kbps MONO which is a bit too bad quality I think)? Or do I always have to edit that in post production?
The ux560 does not have a mono setting (except for the 48kbps mp3).
I'm guessing the issue you are facing is due to the adapter termination (it needs to terminate the mic into tip and ring, not just the tip).
If you want stereo, then you may want to get another/better adapter.
Personally, I prefer to record in mono when using a lav mic. I then don't have to edit the stereo in post to get mono and get rid of the phase shift.

No it does not. For that you want the TX800.
can you record two mics for left and right channel seperately using a 3.5 splitter?

Yes, it should work, but keep on mind that Apple tends to use non-standard wiring.
My advice is to buy all the cables you'll need from Apple.
Standard splitters and cable may not work on Apple devices.

If your lav receiver has a wired mic output, then yes.
can this connect to an audio mixer ? will it be too loud?
It will connect to an audio mixer; I usually connect it to the headphone jack. If you find it's too loud, you can turn down the gain on your mixer or on the ux560.

Yes, you can use it to record UA-cam videos. I use it with a lav mic and it works very well.
