      Ive been using dropps for a while and I don't love them. The laundry just isn't as "fresh" as I want it to be. I even tried the scent boosters and they don't smell like anything. SO thats why I am here.

    For your athletic wear, use white vinegar in the rinse cycle to get that sweat smell out. That "fresh" smell you mentioned is meaningless tho. It's just an added scent and it might be masking smells that would let you know that the clothes aren't entirely clean.

    Straight to consumer shipping is sometimes better as far as fossil fuel use. You go from factory to consumer instead of factory to store then in your car to home. I'm sure this isn't always the case, but often the online shopping option has a smaller carbon footprint! ☺

    Cora balls should not be cleaned for them to work. As they gather hairs their effectiveness increases. It takes them like 10 washes before they start to work. So between 10 and 30 washes is when they work then clean.

    I’ve been using soap nuts for over a year, and I’m very happy with them. However, they’re not the best when it comes to stain fighting. If I get a spot on something, I use bar soap as a spot treatment and seems to take care of most stains as long as you don’t let them set.

    • @StrollingThroughLife

      what i noticed is to use a good amount of soapnuts in a small loads. this way, the washing creates more friction when there are plenty of water with less clothes. the more friction, the better cleaning seem to be

  • @rebeccamartin1858
    @rebeccamartin1858 4 роки тому +12

    Unfortunately, "soap nuts" are pretty bad for your washing machine and over time do not effectively clean your clothing. You need a true detergent to lift dirt and oils and then rinse clean. Anything soap based (or soap like) will not be effective in the long run. For that reason, I'm switching to drops when I finish my cardboard box of powder detergent.
    In regards to the guppy bag, I see it being the most effective but it seems like you would need to own more than 1 so that your clothes are not cramped in the bag and can get clean. I'm going to look in to the more permanent filter you mentioned because I can't just get rid of my recycled plastic based clothing.

      Danielle Lathan Interesting! I’ll have to do more research on it. I do love Dropps though!

    I'm team soap nuts. I have sensitive skin and I'm allergic to a lot of the detergents because of their scents. Eco nuts get my clothes clean and they make my bedding super soft! I love that they can be reused and composted, and I can purchase them zero waste at my local bulk shop for super cheap. I still use unscented Tide for really dirty stuff like my boyfriend's work clothes, but the soap nuts are definitely a favourite in my household! You can even boil down your used ones to use as soap or cleaner!

    Eco nuts are not fully green. They have to be imported from India. The eco nuts are no longer affordable for the people in India. So, they have to use a chemical detergent. The chemicals from the detergent go into the rivers and pollute their drinking supply.

    You should definitely look into Earthbreeze laundry detergent sheets! They come in cardboard envelopes and make my laundry so clean without heavy fragrances. I got a "year supply" (will probably take us more than a year to use!) that came in a small box and fits nicely on a small shelf! I also have sensitive skin, and it is amazing for sensitive skin! I got the unscented, and my laundry smells faintly fresh after each load. Also, it is super affordable if you buy in bulk!

    Just found another use for Dropps. Bored last weekend, I began cleaning the whites of my sneakers. I hadn't cleaned them...ever and one pair is 5 years old. I took one pod, cereal bowl, rough rag. Fill bowl with warm water, let a pod soften in the water and pop to open. Wet the rage with detergent and water and begin scrubbing. Wipe with clean water. My shoes look awesome!

    Just got my dropps and the scent booster dropps because I do like a good scent. So far, so good. I still have a large box of powder so I will use that for either really big or really small loads, but looking forward to a longer test period. Also got the dish tabs and the first load did well. We don't really rinse dishes first and seemed to do fine. Really wish they had hand soap options as well.

    I used the eco nuts when I was living in Indonesia. They called it Lerak and it works so well especially if you have a very sensitive skin. The Indonesian has been using Lerak since a long time ago especially in Java island and mostly they use it for their batik sarong because the lerak keep the color from fading. We spray a mild laundry perfume when we were ironing the cloth since the lerak has no scent.

    Especially in shared facilities use for sensitive skin in consideration of others/pets. Of course why wouldn't you want to also be as gentle as possible on your own skin. Also use minimal product. We actually have to have the pipes cleaned out due to excess product. I'm not sure how the blue thing would catch the microfibers. Pre Dropps and now we spray pits and stains with vinegar. I soaked the nuts in a small container of water and used the water. Didn't stick with them. Clean clothing shouldn't smell with anything. I do still DIY my powered detergent and make it into a liquid for stain removing. How do you know the ball is working? How often would people clean the filters?

    You know... I’m probably gonna sound crazy... but.... I do wonder what kind of plant the EcoNuts come from. I live on an island that has lots of invasive species that are battling our Native species and cause some big issues. So again I wonder how safe it is for the environment? Is it fine in just your own compost? Is it not? I have no clue haha

    • @StrollingThroughLife
      @StrollingThroughLife  5 років тому +2

      Slvr b1t3s Hi! Those are great questions! The Eco Nuts are actually a berry shell which contains saponin (a natural cleaning agent). They’re grown on trees in the Himalayas organically. Insects don’t like saponin so there’s no need for pesticides! They also are sustainably harvested through this brand and the workers do get fair wages! They can be composted in your own backyard compost. They’re definitely the gentlest and most natural out of the bunch. I hope that answered your questions! 😊

    Hey Kristen, just found your channel and I LOVE what you got going here!!
    Quick question, do you by chance know if the Eco Nuts are grown with Veganic farming?
    Almost all organic products use manure purchased from the animal ag industry (which cuts down their costs and takes responsibility off of their hands) to grow because of restriction.

      Lobbyists aren't necessarily lying, though. The opposite of lobbyists aren't necessarily 100% truthful, either. I think EVERYONE has their own agenda and we do need to remember that and keep a questioning mind. Seems to me that just because someone has an agenda, it doesn't doesn't mean it's bad. Again, keep a questioning mind.
