I began playing guitar back in 1979-80. Long story-short it was because I randomely picked out an album during a dinner party at mom`s friends houe. It said "the James Gand and the title of a song was very strange to my 11 yr old self...Funk #48 (not #49) and I loved it and the "donk be-dok-de-donk a-dop a bop" left me loving the song and had me doubled over laughing. On the drive home that night I asked my mom for a guitar for Christmas. My journey down the road of rock had begun. Thank you Joseph Fidler Walsh !! Joe has been my light in the dark and we both got sober a couple of years apart. Joe in 1994 and me 1997. I have never relapsed and niether has Joe. From the deepest part of my soul, Thank you Joe.

I chuckled when Henley said most bands don't last. Yeah, if you have massive egos and aren't willing to compromise. Look at a band like Rush. They were best friends and loved each other. They were willing to hear each other out and concede ideas to make it work. A band is like a relationship. It takes a lot of work, but it can last forever if you want it to.

The Eagles reached the pinnacle of commercial music. Immense fan support was gained due to outstanding music, and professional performances throughout their climb to rock superstars. However, there is the faintest smell of taint that continues to make some question the history. So many talented musicians contributed, yet, their contributions were tossed aside as the group's success accended. The Eagles contribution to music will live for generations yet born. To this listener, the Eagles became the Don Henley Group, leaving the earlier creativity to a greatest hits “Take it Easy”.

Don't get me wrong. I grew up with, and love The Eagles. I have to take pause and consider enormous number "album sales" for anyone from that era. I bought all The Eagles' albums, first on vinyl, then on cassette, some of them twice on cassette, one on 8 track, then, finally, all of them on CD. Do each of these count as an "album sale"?

Leaders have to be harsh sometimes. Someone has to keep the bar high. It's not about being buddies all the time. It is about creating a fantastic musical product. Felder and Meisner were followers and could never have put together a powerhouse like the Eagles. It took personalities like Frey & Henley, like them or not on a personal level. Felder was a bit of a bed wetter. Great guitarist though.

The guy who was bugging them up. It’s like Bruce brought his Heartland Rock Style and prowess. The Eagles made pristine productions..Grew up hearing a lot of their records. The British slug music journalist ,was basically saying what America appeared like back then. When he said Blonde Woman like they were the beauty of the day, when truly Black American women were absolutely stunning. They knew it. Media was so bias. The truth was LA was eclectic and vast. The police was ratchet and wicked with their racist ways. That was all exposed through the help of HipHop and the changing times. That’s why they hated the Rap music which was an extension of the HIP HOP COMMUNITY. Once it blew up commercially. They couldn’t deny its power and attraction with the mainstream so called audiences.NWA makes THE EAGLES look like an afterschool rock band. I say that to say YES.THE EAGLES was a great POP BAND. I own a few of their records.

The one thing wrong with this documentary were the two English clowns giving their commentary and pretending credibility. Randy with Poco not Bernie by the way. As a big fan from the beginning I could have offered more than the old information that those two were simply repeating. Glen Frey and Don Henley had great respect for one another. Glen used to call Don their secret weapon with his voice. No jealousy at all. He considered their song “The Last Resort” as Don’s opus as Don had a degree in English literature, without mentioning his own contribution. Someone else of note did though. Stumbling across some obscure radio interview with Bob Seger I heard him refer to that song and the music behind it.
“That was all Glen” Bob said. Don equally respected Glen as the leader of the band and driving force that lifted his own confidence and each band members strengths.
