thanks so much for the guide! i thought removing the iron bar was gonna be required but i didnt know the air filter was so easy to remove, getting the battery rn ty 🙏🙏
@@hongkongbboy Settings would be lost if you didn’t use a memory saver while replacing the battery. I got a memory saver from Amazon. Nothing fancy and it kept her settings.
Crazy how over engineered they made this for a battery....Remember the old days when a battery was just right there and it took 5 mins if that to replace? LOL. Thanks for your video it helped me greatly to replace mine.
Keep in mind this video shows several steps you don't need to do. I was able to replace mine (2019 Disco Sport) in less than 15mins. Only need a 15mm socket and the new battery. Battery easily sides out without removing all the extra items shown in this video.
When you say 'slides out' do you mean you were able to lift it out vertically after unscrewing the clamp, meaning the air box could stay in place? What was the 15mm socket for? @@aaronschneider210

Just wanted to say thanks for this. It was really helpful with the installation of the new battery. Just skipped the removal of the Air Filter as the battery just pulled out.
Is it necessary to hook up a computer to do the diagnostics? I'm changing the battery because the auto start/stop stopped working due to a weaker battery, and I'm afraid the vehicle won't recognize the new battery.
Very good instructions for replacing the battery, but do you have to do some settings after this done. Some car need to do something when battery is disconnected. Thanks a lot for your sharing.
Sometimes things throw errors (traction control, etc) after disconnecting the battery. BMWs often lose their steering angle position. In that case, just turn the steering wheel lock to lock and it "relearns". In general, just drive it a bit and the errors that pop up will go away. Also, watch @13:59 to the end.
I have a 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE... would this be the same? I got some ridiculous quote and they said it had to be computer programed to work. Is that true? Thanks for posting!!
Looks like it is very similar. The air filter box looks different on yours, but I assume the basic steps are the same. You don't have to program the battery, but it is a good thing to do. "programming" your battery is just telling your engine computer that a new battery was installed. It's a lot like resetting the trip after filling up with gas. Difference here is it changes the charge rates (albeit only slightly).
Do you need to reset the ECU and get a code from Land Rover? I understand if the battery is removed the ECU will lose data and a code is need from Land Rover? Thks
Unfortunately this means that you will have to perform the battery replacement service function. A Jaguar / Land Rover independent shop could probably do that for a reasonable cost. Or, get a working copy of SDD that I mention at the end of the video. Or, some other scan tool that is capable of doing it.
Did you just replace your old battery with a new one? If so, one of two things is going on: either 1) the new battery lost some charge sitting on a shelf and just needs charged/the car highway driven for awhile...or 2) you will be forced to perform a battery replacement service function in the car's computer.
@@NiXFiX battery is fully charged and been tested not a new battery message reads start car battery low .i know Range Rover has two batteries is there a second one on Land Rover sport 2015 or away to turn warning message off
A Battery Management System is built into Land Rover Discovery Sport. As far as I know, this does not automatically recognize a new battery. If this is the case, the new battery must be trained. You have to do this manually with an OBD diagnostic device. Replacement of the Battery is the first step, calibration then the second step. So '@robertedward9456's' question may have to do with the lack of calibration.

Did you use some sort of tender to maintain power to the car when you changed the battery? Or is it not necessary?
Turns out it's not necessary

Any idea where the auxiliary battery is located?
Used video to change the battery yesterday and it was very useful. No problem as Nix Fix
said. Thank you very much

Glad I could help!
Thanks a lot. Very nice video with detailed instructions. I have replaced the battery with new one and like for like. Do I still need to do BMS?

Do you have a recommendation for an SDD device that home mechanics could use to perform the battery change service function?
Unfortunately I don't. It is super complicated. I have a copy of SDD running on a windows 10 laptop through a windows xp virtual machine.
Just watched your video battery replacement. My question is do you loose the radio connection taking the battery off??? Thanks
I did not have to reenter a radio code if that is what you mean. I might've had to reset bass and treble levels, but I can't remember.

Not necessary, but a good thing to do.

FWIW:
UK air box even easier (no pipe and only one bolt securing)
I didn't remove the strut brace - still an easy job
Well done , nice manual for myself future replacement

@13:59
do i need to program the BMS after replacing the battery. or is it just terrible JRL?
You don't need to, but you should.
Do you need to reset the ECU and get a code from Land Rover? I understand if the battery is removed the ECU will lose data and a code is need from Land Rover? Thks
You do not need to reset the ECU.
You definitely don't need a code.
You should perform the battery replacement service procedure.
I just changed the battery and it still will not start, any clue what the issue can be? It’s trying to start but just won’t.
Cranking without firing up (running) is not a battery issue. You have a bigger problem (no fuel, no spark, or no compression/timing issue).
Great instructional video. But, "acrossed"?

Not required, unplug the BMS module on the + terminal for 10 seconds then plug it back in. Take the vehicle for 15+ mile drive to reset it.
Do you figure out how to geet that "low battery" message away?
To other comments. I just changed mine and the shop said i need to take it to a garage for the battery management to be reset.
