The Post-Dragon Age Depression is real. I cling to hope that DA4 will be released soon and will make gamers fall in love with the series all over again, for all the old reasons we've loved it so far and for any new surprising reasons, too. There is so much negativity out there about Bioware in general and about their two big name franchises, but this (and ME) is still a series worth playing. Thank you again for your playthrough and for all this additional content! Can't wait to see your reaction to the Bull!
Loved your reaction! A lot of people call this romance ''vanilla'' but it isnt at all, you just see it like that on the surface. It doesnt need a big secret, betrayl, a duel or judgement to make it interesting. The main character and cullen are two people in charge who have a lot on their shoulders and a lot in common. They connect emotionally and have each others back when they need it (I think he's almost the only one that ask how you feel with everything that is happening even if you are not in a romance with him). But of course if you need a little bit more you can play as a mage to add some ''spice'' haha.
Maybe it makes me a bit basic but I honestly think Cullen is my favourite DA romance. He is most certainly babygirl lol, and a golden retriever boyfriend, and it's kind of like this perfect fairytale romance and it just makes me all giggly every time. It's maybe a bit controversial but I like his romance with a mage Inquisitor. There's some nice extra dialogue there that shows his growth with moving past what happened in the Circle/Kirkwall. Also sidenote, absolutely love Cullen and Cassandra's friendship.
I don't think I ever saw the Leliana/Cullen chess game (not sure what the in-game name is). Every one of my playthroughs it was Dorian/Cullen. Maybe the player didn't recruit Dorian?
Cullen and Alistair and Fenris all are my favorite DA romances ..I can not choose a favorite between these three..I haven't been checking Patroon now I'm sad it took me 7 days to get here :)..I always make a Mage for Cullen especially since in DAO he had a crush on the Warden if she were a mage :) and he talks about it in DAI

You now see why Cullen is so popular among DA fandom. Behind all that anger, he is really just a cuddly teddy bear, and we will not have anything less 😊 On a more serious note, Cullen is one of the few characters that appear in all three games, and he gets quite the character development in Inquisition. I think only Morrigan beats him on that account, her character arc is maybe the best for me, as I put Leliana’s story at par with Cullen’s. Now that I think of it, apart from Cullen, only Leliana and Flemmeth appear in all three games by default (unless I am missing someone), with Alistair or Loghain also being an option, depending on player choice.
This is such a great idea for a Dragon Age reaction series. I suppose it's all been recorded by now, but in case it hasn't been, I hope some of the mods can direct Mapo to that variation of Dorian romance that is slow and steady, for the extra bit in the cutscene with Mother Giselle, and the confession in the Inquisitor's quarters. 😊
12:20 I just want it to be known that there is a mod on PC that replaces Cullen's character model with Corypheus, and it is the funniest thing that you have ever seen in your life, guaranteed in this game! 😂 I would classify Cullen as more of a vanilla romance, not that that's a bad thing it's just he's a lot more plain than some of the others. Back when Trespasser first came out, some of the content leaked a few days ahead of time, and one of the leaks included the wedding dress. I was really, really worried that the game would force a wedding on you, so when I got to the scene where Cullen proposes I was very relieved to see that saying no didn't break off the romance. It's still very sweet and they have a nice little chat :) Looking forward to seeing what you think of the rest! Dorian's is my favourite, I'm very excited!

If you played a female mage in DAO and then a female mage that romances him in Iquisition you get so much insight about him and why he acts as he acts and its such a great arc ❤️ I played female mage in my first DAO playthrough and found the scene on which you learn he has a crush on you so cute that when I saw he was a romance option in Inquisition I went for it. I have tried other romances but, for me, Cullen's Will always be the best. So cute and wholesome ❤

I have Cullen only atm, during my first play through. It’s a bit different from being used to have a companion romance in the other Dragon Age games But I heard of Solas and it scared me off. Being betrayed and dumped by a backstabbing little egg? No thanks, i’m not that masochistic 😅 So I found Cullen is the best choice. It’s a nice value of recognition for me. I played a female Surana circle mage in Origins. Cullen had a severe crush on her. So i made mz Lavellan a mage, too. In my head cannon he could still have a thing for elf Lady mages ❤
solas and cullen had the best animations for romances because they were race gated obviously people complain about that but making less available options allow for the romance scenes to be more seamless (though keep in mind when the game came out lol) inb4 'why are they race gated' because they were both the added romances when the team got an extension for da:i and had more time to add other romances so though they were done beautifully, it still probably didn't allow enough time to be for every race and solas in particular allows for lore related scenes though i do think cullens romance is a bit better animated with a human cassandra and dorian are also really good ones (my next favorites) iron bull's is funny/spicy josie's is cute and blackwall is in the angst realm with solas
I've been waiting for this for like 52 episodes. I absolutely freaking loved in the way that at the beginning of your playthrough, you were pretty skeptical of Cullen, and by the end, you were shouting 'THAT'S MY BOY!!!' ❤❤❤

I know Solasmancy is beloved by many but for me, it just isn't - I think too much hinges on the angst, it feels a bit too forced to me, although when I did it I decided to also do it with mage, just because of that common ground. I really appreciate his character, I really like the frenemy arc you can decide on, but I think other romances just had more organic scenes - for the most part. The game is really generous with romance options though so I feel like most people might find one that tickles them. :D I've only ever seen the Cullen one via clips before, and I think it's really well done; not the most out there but the scenes are just good and it fits well.
It depends whom you've spoken to already before triggering the chess cutscene. If they have their own cutscenes 'in the queue', they won't appear in another cutscene sadly. Same thing with Varric's Wicked Grace. :)
Don't get me wrong - as a BroQuisitor, I very much enjoy both the Dorian and Iron Bull romance paths. But if Cullen were available, he absolutely would have been my canon choice. But alas - to be a BioWare fan is to have your heart broken at regular intervals. 💔
As much as I love Culen romance, I still prefer Solas. Romancing the egg adds só much weght to the story and I cant wait to see how things will unfold in the next game. Great job with the content as always, Mapo.❤

I romanced him as well and enjoyed it. But for me, I still prefers Solas romance. Something very deep and dark about it that I'm a sucker for.
