Once a Warden, always a Warden.
In war, Victory, In Peace, Vigilance, In Death, Sacrifice!
🥹🥹🥹
The Maker smiles sadly on his Grey Wardens, so the Chantry says, as no sacrifice is greater than theirs.
My rook will be an Elven Warden Mage.
Very tempted, learning more about the Wardens and the Blight is a big draw for me.
yeah I plan on playing all 6 as they all sound interesting and I've already got at least 3 characters in mind. As I've got ideas for a Veil jumper and a Lord of Fortune as well I'll likely come up with moer before the game releases as well. But warden is going to be my first as I'm planning on a young female human mage who believes in what the wardens stand for fighting to protect those who can't fight and preventing the Blight from hurting the lands. If this does end up being the last Dragon Age (due to Bioware's precarious position) then i twill be fitting t o finish as we started as a Grey Warden. I do hope it's not the last but I do feel there is an axe hanging above Bioware atm waiting to fall if this game fails to meet expectations.
Qunari Rogue, Shadow Dragon. Former slave freeing slaves sounds like a fun protagonist to me
Sounds pretty good
I was thinking the exact same thing. Some people wouldn't even trust (maybe) because you are Qunari. Could be Ben-Hasrath
Can you play as Qunari in this game??
@@user-wu6ub7ez5v Yes. And with how robust character creation is supposed to be I hope you will be able to create a proper looking buff qunari not the twinks we've seen so far.
I've waited 4 games to stick it to those slavers. I'm definitely going to be a slaver hunter
Wardens all the way
For sure. I’m aiming for a DAO throwback
For sure 🗿
I will do wardens last because I don't need origins nostalgia I know what the wardens are about
Exactly, wardens got me into DA an I miss my mf warden. So since I’m probably never seeing the hero of Ferelden ever again, I’m playing a warden. And he’s a Mahariel Idgaf what the game says
Qunari Warden 🤘
Human Rogue, Lords of Fortune.
They had me at "Pirate Barbarian." :D
Same here, good taste lol
Can’t wait to try and Veil Jump my way into someone’s heart and fail miserably 😂
I told myself I wasn't gonna be an elven rogue again but bro....... Antivan Crows yknow
assassins creed antiva
I feel like this is one of those choices that I will be rethinking every day until Veilguard comes out lol.
Is your profile picture from the vampire count faction in warhammer 3
@@haydenpeek3562 It Is! I'm a big Ghorst stan.
I'll be rethinking 30 hours into the game haha
@@brendanmohareful lol truuu!
I think I'll be part of the Mourn Watch for my first playthrough. I think Mourn Watch, Veil Jumpers, and Lords of Fortune are the factions I know the least about, so they're the ones I'm most curious of.
With how much veil shenenigans will be in the game I think Veil Jumpers have a chance for the most dialogue options. Though I will go with Grey Warden anyway.
After reading Tevinter Nights, the Lords of Fortune seem fun.
Getting to be a Grey Warden again is so exciting - I'm going to play all backgrounds at some point, but reliving that DAO nostalgia through my new character is going to be everything.
I'm wavering between Shadow dragons, and the Antivan Crows for my first playthrough
Never really been excited about the Crows, but if they're now facing off against the brainwashing totalitarians Bioware keeps trying to convince us aren't that bad, really, well, I might have to start there.
I will play the game six times and try all factions.
6 times ×2 genders× different races lol
I will play through literally a million times over
I'd do all 6 in different classes and by making different choices each time to change companions development and area's development
I already know I’m doing at least 4 (one for each race/voice actor), two more wouldn’t hurt 😅
same
I think they did Wardens dirty in Inquisition. It never made really sense to me that they would do something like that. But still... Just hearing the word "Wardens" gives me chills and brings all the memories back! Definitely inclined to be a Warden again.
Why? The Wardens were never the heroes of old age or pure. They just had a job to do and did it and when there is no job left while their life is being wittled away what would they do. Think about the DLC the dude is comitting atrocities to extend his life or letting a traitor like Loghain join. /
I mean, their job is to battle the darkspawn by any means necessary. If the sudden onset of endstage taint in all of them at once had been real rather than a manipulation of Corypheus, then their plan would have been excellent.
If they were actually all about to go crazy and/or ghoulify, then the order was about to go extinct and wouldn't be there to fight future blights. WIthout them, future blights would very likely consume the world, so they needed to ensure there WERE no more blights by tracking down and destroying the remaining two buried potential archdemons. To do this in as short a time as they had left, a demon army that doesn't tire or need to eat is a good idea (and would be operated where there were only darkspawn around to kill even if they escaped the summoners control.)
Yes they sacrifice many of their own, but those people would be dying anyway and sacrifice is what wardens do.
I want to be original and go with something like the Shadow Dragons, but I haven’t been a Warden in 15 years, and I’m ready to jump back into that role.
Its gonna be hard not to be basic like i was with DAO with my warrior warden. The memories are gonna win out 😂
My love of Ancient Egyptian culture, particularly their exaltation/protection of the dead, draws me to the Mourne Watch, which I did not see coming.
Based
jackdaw posting fresh dragon age content? we are so freaking back
1. Veil Jumpers..... They're new. Love the lore and the potential importance to the story since we're gonna battle elven gods.
2. Wardens..... because, of course the Wardens!!!!!
3. Shadow Dragons.... love what they represent. Gonna probably romance Neve first time around, and love the name.
I feel like there’s much more dudes in the companions this time around so for people who usually romance women you got like 3 options maybe.
@@luisz222 7 companions, 4 are women and 3 are men, Neve, Taash, Harding, and Bellara for women. Men are Davrin, Emmrich, and Lucan. Tbh i love the designs for all of them, that was my big issue with DAI was i couldnt stand the companions other than Cassandra, Cole, and Cullen.
@@perseus3115 Inquisition had the weakest romance choices out of the bunch. I mean there were some great ones for sure like Cassandra, Iron Bull and Dorian, but compared to Origins and DA2 it wasn’t great. From what you’re telling me here it’s sounding more promising. I just hope that aside from romances you can also have some great friendship storylines cause in previous games it felt a little like you’re missing quite a bit of a characters storyline if you don’t romance them.
@@luisz222 ya they have been saying they want to go back to focusing on the story and character interactions etc so i hope this game is as far away from DAI as possible.
Too bad you cannot choose to be a Witch of the Wilds. That would make things more interesting.
It would’ve been really interesting. The daughters of Flemeth as a faction or coven of witches working as agents of Mythal would really expand what happened to Flemeth in Inquisition
I want to have the most content about the Fade and the Spirits. Talking with Solas on DA:I about them was so enlightening. He also made it feel inspiring. Considering all the Veil related plot, I think Veil Jumper is my first obvious choice. Getting to know more about the Executors would also be a plus. Also, Bellara seems to cute and lighthearted! My first faction choice, no doubts.
Ive been dying to be an Antivan Crow ever since I met Zevran.
I’m definitely split between being a warden again and being a shadow dragon! I think choosing something I haven’t been will be my ultimate choice, but dang, I love the grey wardens
Analysis paralysis is real ._. I CRAVE for Antivan Crows lore, but Wardens are Wardens, and Veil Jumpers with their Fade shenanigans , but also Mourn Watch cool af, but then again Lords of Fortune with Rivain lore... But Crows loreee🥵
I pray that they release character creator a bit earlier than the game (like Dragons Dogma 2)
Listen DA:O will always have a special place in my heart, but Ive already played a full game as a Warden! I cant wait to see the newer factions.
My prediction is that Viper is Fenris depending on your choices in DA:II. My top 3 choices for factions are Warden/Lords of Fortune/Antivan Crow,im going Warden first.
That would be awesome!
My Fenris is dead so I wonder how they’ll account for that when deciding our choices from previous games
@@user-kj5es1ve2h probably the same way they did it for Alistair/Loghain/Stroud
Lol, I never recruited him in DA2 😅
I was really surprised to learn about him, later lol
Yeah I think you are right. When I heard about Viper my first thought was Fenris. I just wish they would NOT get to that comic. Last thing I want to hear is how my Hawke, who romanced him, abandoned him.
all us DA:O stans are picking wardens for sure
Nah, I want my Character to be able to live a Happy Life after the Story is over and with tainted Blood that wont work
I will be an Elven Mage, Shadow Dragons on my first playthrough. But Veiljumpers and Lords Of Fortune are also very interesting.
Torn between the Crows and Veil Jumpers 😭
I'm beyond ecstatic to be able to BE a Crow!!! Never thought I'd see the day. Antivan crow all the way 100%. Been deeply interested in them since I fell in love with Zevran
thank you so much for this video Jack!! i was waiting for smth like this to help me choose
Every time I think I'm close to choosing which faction to do my first playthrough with, I see someone talking about a different faction on twitter or discord and get excited for that other faction. I CANT DECIDE! I love how excited we all are 🥺, but everyone's excitement for every faction is making it so hard to choose 😩 lol
Yeah that's wh yI keep coming back t oBiowares games as there ae rso man ydifferent ways you can pla ythem. I plan on playing all 6 faction seventually and I've already go tideas fo r3 characters. I' mplanning on stasrting wit ha familia faction tthe Grey Wardens while I learn th egames mechanics then experiment with the other factions later.
i liked the addition of the qunari inquisitor in inquisition but it felt a little out of place for my canon run esp with the lavellan/solas thing, but im definitely making a qunari as my canon rook :)
I have a big love for playing as Qunari. I'll be changing my Inquisitor from that to human and having Rook as a Qunari instead. I don't like my protagonists being too similar.
@@karlpower5476I feel you for not having too similar characters. My Inquisitor was a Qunari Sword And Shield warrior. My rook will be a 2 handed human Warrior.
That was my thing. I know he was there as a mercenary but it just felt so out of place, so I made a fella who was there training to join the chantry in some way, so in my head I made a Templar, which made sense but it meant I'd been a human for all 3 games and a male warrior for two (I played a female rogue in 2 because I hated the man's voice). So I've had it in my head since Inquisition that I'm going to play a Qunari
Me with my history of all elves sweating buckets.
I like the gameplay mechanics. Like more damage on an enemy type
omgggg CANT WAIT FOR NEXT VIDEO
Maybe third lol I am thinking about Lords of Fortune or Veil Jumper as a Dalish Elf Mage. Won't lie a Mage Antiven Crow sounds interesting lol
I am torn between those as well! I was leaning towards Lords of Fortune, but after watching this Veil Jumper seems more tempting now! 😭
Yeah it is a really hard choice. Veil jumper probably aligns best with a Mage but I won't lie a pirate Mage is an amazing concept lol. It will likely come down to what bonus I get for choosing that specific faction.
seems to me like DAO all over again with my 8 Wardens lol
@@smiley993 I will definitely be a warden like in my 3 Rd playthrough. I know I will play this a lot
Eleven Mage, Shadow Dragons ( or Veil Jumpers.)
Initially, I thought Veil Jumpers, but I support removing the Veil, so Shadow Dragons sounds more up my alley :)
I'll be a human mage with the Black Dragon background. I'm going to have Rook try to free the slaves and try to change Tevinter for the better.
Are you ready to decide Rook’s path? Let me know down below which faction you're thinking of choosing for your first playthrough!
Might go female qunari warrior or mage shadow dragon. But, can you be a qunari mage antivan crow?
my first chacter is going to be female qunari mage grey warden
mourn watch - death knight, grim reaper rogue or necromancer
crow.
Human mage shadow dragon or mournwatch
I am gonna be an elven male/veil jumper for sure!
I've always been a lover of the elven lore since origins. And I feel like this version of Rook would get a lot of juicy Elven extra content. I can't wait!
I don't know for certain, but I plan to romance Harding, as she's the first Dwarf you can. I'll probably start with a Dwarven Rogue. Maybe a crow.
I think of all the factions they have shown us, the Veil Jumpers and the Mourne Watch have the best motivations for stopping Solas, the Veil Jumpers because their expertise in elven ruins and magic allows them to grasp the implications of what Solas is trying to do in a way few others can as shown in their introduction comic, and the Mourne Watch because Solas came after them directly and killed a lot of people so they have a personal stake in not only stopping Solas but avenging their fallen comrades. All the other factions to me don't have as much skin in the game aside from the universal stopping the world from ending. I think for my playthrough I will do a Elven (hopefully Dalish) Mage Veil Jumper since it would give a uniquely focused perspective on the story and it would make sense that one of the factions most knowledgeable about what Solas is trying to do and who has one of the greatst incentives to stop him the would send one of their own experts on Elven magic to thwart Solas's plans and potentially dissuade him from this path. I'm also planning on romancing either Davrin or Bellara too.
OHHH... Now THIS hypes me up for the game. Great factions and "origins" of character backstories. Noice!
I'm drawn to 2 factions for my Elf Mage Rook... 1. The Shadow Dragons, as the starting location makes sense for the first mission shown with my Rook wanting to free slaves and end the Venatori... 2. The Veil Jumpers, as my Rook would want to explore his elf heritage, lost wonders of the world and is interested in the fade & eluvians
I am torn now, I thought Grey Warden for sure but now, Veil Jumpers and Shadow Dragons sound really awesome.
Definitely going for a Warden background for my first playthrough. Can't resist that Origins nostalgia. On top of that, I plan on romancing Davrin first, so having that in common should make for an interesting dynamic if factions play as big of a part in character interactions as the devs have been saying.
A Vashoth Grey Warden would be pretty interesting to play as, we've never seen one before. Also, your name is Jackdaw, you basically have to be an Antivan Crow. :D
It's true!!!!
I’m so torn! I honestly don’t know which faction to go with because they all seem so cool. I’m honestly tempted to just choose randomly.
I'm so excited for all the factions, honestly :D I wonder how much of it will shape the outcome, and how much we can influence said outcome once we have decided on a faction.
I find it interesting, and think very intentional, that six of our companions are each one of these factions, with Harding our connection to the Inquisition. So, while I would love to play Gray Warden again, I think my first run will be with a female human mage with either the Mourn Watch or the Lords of Fortune, as of these, those are the ones I find the most intriguing.
Thank you for the great breakdown! I was going to go Shadow Dragons myself, but Mourn Watch took me by surprise, I think this is my new first choice... I'm really curious to see if there are any conversations on the perception of "Death" between a Mourn Watch Rook / Emmrich and Lucanis, since both Mourn Watch and Crows have to deal with it so closely.
Male Human Rogue, Antivan Crows
Jack I always get excited when you post 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
First playthrough, Lords of Fortune. I think playing as someone who hasn't been directly involved with the last three adventures would be cool.
Elven Rogue, Veil Jumper. I can't wait!
My personal canon through the games is convoluted and doesn't quite line up with what BioWare has in mind but I'm enjoying myself anyway - my Inky had a daughter before the events of Inquisition, and she's 14 (and present) during DA:I. She'll be my Rook, an elf mage Shadow Dragon.
After Trespasser, she likely started working under Leliana and the Inquisitor (much to Inky's displeasure) to gather information and go off on missions, eventually basing herself in Tevinter because of how likely it is that Solas will have plans for the area. She joins the Shadow Dragons from there.
who's the father
Oghren
That’s actually a really good idea to have faction backstory’s that dictate bonuses and dialogue. Makes different characters for different playthroughs more appealing
I had already been in the middle of writing an Antivan Crow character before the faction reveal, so I’m happy I’ll actually get to use him and flesh him out!
I laughed at "Torn like Natalie Imbruglia"
Haha thank you 😂
Yay another video!! You’re keeping us so excited and pumped, I’m loving the positive energy. For myself, I’m torn between rouge Crow assassin, or elven mage Veil Jumper. I’ve always played as a mage for all DA games. But we’ll see! Hope we get more news soon. Thanks again for the video!
Shadow dragons. Always wanted to play as a citizen of tevinter!
I made my [first playthrough] Rook right after Tevinter Nights came out 😭!! I've been so excited. They'll be an Elven Mage Shadow Dragon!! I'm hoping Viper is Dorian. He has a lot of viper iconography associated with him already!!!
My headcanon rn is that they were a freed slave (by the SD's) hired by Dorian shortly before their magic manifested. They rarely interacted but Dorian was told and had them trained. They grew up pouring over inquisition documents and relics and history books, eavesdropping on Mae & Dorian, all while obsessively studying magic to become more powerful than the magister that once used them as a blood bag. Eventually they were invited to join the Shadow Dragons and pridefully accepted. They get along well with Veil Jumpers due to their nerdy but daring nature, so I might have them romance Bellara, but they'd also be impressed with Taash and fascinated by Emmerich so who knows...
Unlikely i'll be able to RP any of that in-game, but something along those lines!
Second playthrough i'm thinking Lord of Fortune Rogue Dwarf or Human Rogue Crow, unsure! I'm thinking they're a bit quiet but confident and boastful with a little snark. They'd be forward, sometimes blunt, and dislike similar or bubbly type people, so they'll likely get along best with Harding, Lucanis, Emmerich and Davrin, romancing whoever gets the most embarrassed or flustered when flirted with if any of them lol
This made me more excited for Veilguard than the gameplay trailer did
The more I learn about this game the more I warm up to it. That trailer really didn't do it justice.
I'm teetering between the Crowes or the Veil Jumpers. I like the idea of my Rook being a mage who was either a hermit in the woods or had a hard life in the city.
Thank you jack 🙏
I definitely want to play a qunari mage and am torn between Veil Jumper and Shadow Dragon.
We should’ve had inquisition as a faction pick 🤧 .
7 companions
Should’ve had 7 faction pick. 🤷🏾♂️
I thought about that, but decided that I wouldn't want my new character to be subordinate to my Inquisitor when they show up4
@@aleciaregister162 I would’ve had want my new character to be subordinate to my inquisitor when they show up4.
Also, I wouldn’t consider Rook to be one of the lowest rank in the inquisition. I would’ve consider Rook to be one of the top elite soldiers/agents😭.
It would had been an interesting dialogue between Harding and Varric and any other inquisition members Rook will encounter in DA4. So yeah, they should’ve had add inquisition as an option since each companion represent each org and Harding is with the Inquisition.
@@yc_knight6370 fair
I think people forget that the Inquisition was the mix between all these different groups so it's technically anyone can be an inquisition no matter if you're a part of affection
Torn between the Wardens due to origins nostalgia, and the lords of fortune... Gonna be a long time in character creator for me 😂
With all the cool new elvanuris lore and artifacts gotta be a Veil jumper elf mage
If raising a small skeleton army isn’t “practical necromancy,” I don’t know what is
I mean ... Grey Warden is iconic ... but I might pick a veiljumper background. Regardless of what I pick, it'll be a mage playthrough. Either elf or Qunari ... unless they'll let me be a Dwarven mage!
Elf Rogue Lord of Fortune, raised in the streets of Llomerryn, wants to be a pirate captain
Damn those are some really solid factions, that's great to hear!
Personnally, I'm torn between Grey Wardens and Shadow Dragons for my first playthrough, which is probably going to depend on my class/spec choice.
You always do such an incredible inclusive view, you rock!! Thank you ❤
Aw thank you!!!!
@@JackdawYT you are most welcome. Keeping this one for reference on Thanksgiving 😊
They better explain what our OG warden has been up to or if they found a cure. If they don't give us something, they really dropped the ball.
Curious about the veil jumpers, but also the lords of fortune and Antivan Crows too! So torn! All these new classes to choose from!!❤
I'm definitely doing mutiple playthroughs. I always do for Dragon Age so I will hopefully do most of them at some point. Leaning toward Antivan Crows first. Love the crows. But honestly might do Mourn Watch or Lords of Fortune on my first one. Very intrigued by what that could add to the experience.
I hope all Bioware said about the factions really changes the way we play, Cyberpunk 2077 said the same thing and it ended up being almost meaningless.

Dwarf Grey Warden
I'm so excited 😭 I'm already planning out my playthroughs
Elven mage lord of fortune! After Solas and Merrill, who are the scholarly type, getting to go wild with elven magic as a treasure hunter will be fun as heck!
I think Grey Warden will be the most interesting and plot relevant for multiple reasons. I mean there's so much drama going on at Weisshaupt and who knows how many wardens from previous games, comics, or books are going to make an appearance. Not to mention Solas hates Wardens for some reason that we don't quite understand yet. Wardens and The Blight are totally going to have big roles to play, and I assume we will figure out what blights and arch demons are by the end of the game and it would be fun to find that out while playing as a Warden. Two Warden protagonists is however kinda redundant though. Veil Jumpers and Shadow Dragons also seem super interesting though. Antivan Crows always seemed fun.
For the OG Dragon Age fans giving this a go we all know what faction to choose. After 15 years we keep our OATH.
ive always envisioned my pc for this game to be a qunari rogue who escaped/was liberated from slavery, so i gotta go shadow dragon for her! im so excited to have even a smidge of a chance to play out the backstory ive stirred up for her during all these years of clowning hsjbdjf
I honestly wanted a Tevinter character for so long that I'm definitely choosing Shadow Dragons. And I'm excited for the game for even just getting into Tevinter. Finally!
I'm totally not doing wardens to see if i get my own griffon *nervous laughter*
🍽😋👏🏾 Eating good over here.Jack supplying that DA on a platter's special(Burp)!
Is there a guide or chart on which factions are exclusive to which classes, or is each class able to be a part of these factions but start in the story with different roles?
elven rook mage or rogue lord of fortune.
An elf obsessed with learning about his race's history gets an opportunity to find lost elven artefacts and giving his dull life more spice resulting in this rook joining the lords of fortune
Honestly outside the Grey Wardens I dont like care about any of the other factions, would rather just be a straight up Tevinter War Mage.
A adventuring mage in the lords of fortune
Thank you for pumping out those videos! It's really been helping me get up to speed!
Taash is a warrior. Dual wielding Warrior has returned.
To help people out on which faction to choose... here is what the name Rook could mean and symbolize for your protagonist.
●A Rook in nature is a kind of Crow. So an Antivan crow would be a natural fit.
° Rooks, like other birds are fascinated with and collect shiny objects, perhaps they could be called to be a Treasure Hunter.
° Where rooks appear in folklore, they are seen as good luck and somehow also bad luck.... Mostly associated with death, or with trickery. This goes along with the Antivan Crows of course but also notably the Mourn Watch.
° The rook's Latin name 'Corvus frugilegus', means 'fruit-gathering raven', coming from their tendency to feed on crops, fruit and other plant material.
●Rook also means to Swindle someone. (Seeing the character of the bird above that doesn’t surprise me.) And to me that brings to mind Pirates, and the Lords of Fortune.
● The Chess Piece. The Rook represents a chariot in that it goes straightforward, it also is depicted as a fortress. Both symbolize war and glory.
°Also because Tarot cards are a thing in DA: The Chariot card often represents Determination, success, and control.
You can apply this last one to all of the factions really, though I feel it goes particularly well with the Grey Wardens.
Example: Rook, human warrior. A very strong but straight forward grey warden who serves his king with all his might but can't bend his principles.
Personally, I plan to create three different characters for all three meanings.
I hope this helps😅
🖤
thinking the shadow dragons are for me for my first playthrough. having a connection to Dorian is what got me and their whole purpose, of course
All I know at the moment is my standard female elf that I usually start as my first character in fantasy games. She will probably be the sister of my cannon Inquisitor and she didn't take kindly to Solas breaking her sister's heart. Maybe an Antivan Crow.
this is so hard to choose but i love that it gives da:tv more replayability since it seems like it'll really affect everything probably even more than da:o. even tho they all sound cool, story wise i'm thinking warden, shadow dragon, or veil jumper appeal to me most in the continuing story especially depending on how the whole thing with solas and the old god stuff goes lmao. i'll probably choose shadow dragon or warden for my first playthrough. but i do like that you probably have direct connections and history with certain party members depending on which faction you choose i think it'll make party dynamics more interesting and i wonder how it'll affect romances too.
Do you think that you can choose any of the backgrounds regardless of your class (mage, warrior, rogue) or race? For example would it make sense to be part of the mourn watch as a rogue, or a dwarf? Would an Ativan crow mostly make sense as a rogue?
I went from not hearing much about this game to suddenly begging for it to release lol sounds so fun
Qunari Mage Lord of Fortune. I assume they'd have no issues taking in a run away Qunari mage to help them explore and find treasure
I can be a warden again? Sign me tf up!
I was convinced that I’d be an antivan crow qunari mage but now I’m wondering if I’m more interested in being a Lord of Fortune, my first Rook doing this for no other reason than it seems like it’d be fun
