i liked the addition of the qunari inquisitor in inquisition but it felt a little out of place for my canon run esp with the lavellan/solas thing, but im definitely making a qunari as my canon rook :)
I have a big love for playing as Qunari. I'll be changing my Inquisitor from that to human and having Rook as a Qunari instead. I don't like my protagonists being too similar.
@@karlpower5476I feel you for not having too similar characters. My Inquisitor was a Qunari Sword And Shield warrior. My rook will be a 2 handed human Warrior.
That was my thing. I know he was there as a mercenary but it just felt so out of place, so I made a fella who was there training to join the chantry in some way, so in my head I made a Templar, which made sense but it meant I'd been a human for all 3 games and a male warrior for two (I played a female rogue in 2 because I hated the man's voice). So I've had it in my head since Inquisition that I'm going to play a Qunari
I think of all the factions they have shown us, the Veil Jumpers and the Mourne Watch have the best motivations for stopping Solas, the Veil Jumpers because their expertise in elven ruins and magic allows them to grasp the implications of what Solas is trying to do in a way few others can as shown in their introduction comic, and the Mourne Watch because Solas came after them directly and killed a lot of people so they have a personal stake in not only stopping Solas but avenging their fallen comrades. All the other factions to me don't have as much skin in the game aside from the universal stopping the world from ending. I think for my playthrough I will do a Elven (hopefully Dalish) Mage Veil Jumper since it would give a uniquely focused perspective on the story and it would make sense that one of the factions most knowledgeable about what Solas is trying to do and who has one of the greatst incentives to stop him the would send one of their own experts on Elven magic to thwart Solas's plans and potentially dissuade him from this path. I'm also planning on romancing either Davrin or Bellara too.
I'm drawn to 2 factions for my Elf Mage Rook... 1. The Shadow Dragons, as the starting location makes sense for the first mission shown with my Rook wanting to free slaves and end the Venatori... 2. The Veil Jumpers, as my Rook would want to explore his elf heritage, lost wonders of the world and is interested in the fade & eluvians
Damn those are some really solid factions, that's great to hear! Personnally, I'm torn between Grey Wardens and Shadow Dragons for my first playthrough, which is probably going to depend on my class/spec choice.
I am gonna be an elven male/veil jumper for sure! I've always been a lover of the elven lore since origins. And I feel like this version of Rook would get a lot of juicy Elven extra content. I can't wait!
Yeah it is a really hard choice. Veil jumper probably aligns best with a Mage but I won't lie a pirate Mage is an amazing concept lol. It will likely come down to what bonus I get for choosing that specific faction.
@@lunabloodstone always a pleasure to meet a luna, but yeah a warden will be nostalgic for sure, surely for my 4'th run, i think i will start with a human mage Shadow-Dragons since the end of inquisition i dream to make a Tevinter Magister but i have to say i still hesitate with a female qunari rogue Antivan Crows
My personal canon through the games is convoluted and doesn't quite line up with what BioWare has in mind but I'm enjoying myself anyway - my Inky had a daughter before the events of Inquisition, and she's 14 (and present) during DA:I. She'll be my Rook, an elf mage Shadow Dragon. After Trespasser, she likely started working under Leliana and the Inquisitor (much to Inky's displeasure) to gather information and go off on missions, eventually basing herself in Tevinter because of how likely it is that Solas will have plans for the area. She joins the Shadow Dragons from there.
I find it interesting, and think very intentional, that six of our companions are each one of these factions, with Harding our connection to the Inquisition. So, while I would love to play Gray Warden again, I think my first run will be with a female human mage with either the Mourn Watch or the Lords of Fortune, as of these, those are the ones I find the most intriguing.
A Vashoth Grey Warden would be pretty interesting to play as, we've never seen one before. Also, your name is Jackdaw, you basically have to be an Antivan Crow. :D
Ive had at least one character in mind sense Inquisition. A Tevinter mage born of low class or a slave set on trying to make a their homeland a better place in which case the Shadow Dragon's work perfectly. However seeing the gameplay I might also go a dwarf Grey Warden totally into the belife of the stone and willing to give his life for the greater good.
I am torn between the Grey Wardens, who will always have my heart because of Origins; the Veil Jumpers because I think this would give some extra dialogue concerning Solas; and the mourn watchers who intrigue me with their whole theme... also Emmerich might be the first romance I pursue and I want to get the most out of the dialogue with him.
Thank you for the great breakdown! I was going to go Shadow Dragons myself, but Mourn Watch took me by surprise, I think this is my new first choice... I'm really curious to see if there are any conversations on the perception of "Death" between a Mourn Watch Rook / Emmrich and Lucanis, since both Mourn Watch and Crows have to deal with it so closely.
Eleven Mage, Shadow Dragons ( or Veil Jumpers.) Initially, I thought Veil Jumpers, but I support removing the Veil, so Shadow Dragons sounds more up my alley :)
I’m definitely making a Qunari Warden. We don’t see any Qunari in the wardens in the games so I think that would be cool. I’ll probably make my Qunari a mage. It would give a good reason as to why they decided to seek refuge in the wardens
I mean ... Grey Warden is iconic ... but I might pick a veiljumper background. Regardless of what I pick, it'll be a mage playthrough. Either elf or Qunari ... unless they'll let me be a Dwarven mage!
I'm beyond ecstatic to be able to BE a Crow!!! Never thought I'd see the day. Antivan crow all the way 100%. Been deeply interested in them since I fell in love with Zevran
I hope all Bioware said about the factions really changes the way we play, Cyberpunk 2077 said the same thing and it ended up being almost meaningless.
Yay another video!! You’re keeping us so excited and pumped, I’m loving the positive energy. For myself, I’m torn between rouge Crow assassin, or elven mage Veil Jumper. I’ve always played as a mage for all DA games. But we’ll see! Hope we get more news soon. Thanks again for the video!
Human female, Warrior, Lords Of Fortune, and if possible, a total sarcastic soul (like in DA2). This will be my first time playing as a warrior since they announced that we will be able to throw our shield at our enemies like Captain America🤩 I usually always have a first playthrough as a rogue, but the flying shield just hit me in the right spot very nicely🤭 And of course, Taash holds my peak interest so we will see how that goes😊
I’ve never played dragon age… But from what I’ve heard from people who have played previous games, this isn’t a game they want to play for some reason. I’d def choose warden tho!
I made my [first playthrough] Rook right after Tevinter Nights came out 😭!! I've been so excited. They'll be an Elven Mage Shadow Dragon!! I'm hoping Viper is Dorian. He has a lot of viper iconography associated with him already!!! My headcanon rn is that they were a freed slave (by the SD's) hired by Dorian shortly before their magic manifested. They rarely interacted but Dorian was told and had them trained. They grew up pouring over inquisition documents and relics and history books, eavesdropping on Mae & Dorian, all while obsessively studying magic to become more powerful than the magister that once used them as a blood bag. Eventually they were invited to join the Shadow Dragons and pridefully accepted. They get along well with Veil Jumpers due to their nerdy but daring nature, so I might have them romance Bellara, but they'd also be impressed with Taash and fascinated by Emmerich so who knows... Unlikely i'll be able to RP any of that in-game, but something along those lines! Second playthrough i'm thinking Lord of Fortune Rogue Dwarf or Human Rogue Crow, unsure! I'm thinking they're a bit quiet but confident and boastful with a little snark. They'd be forward, sometimes blunt, and dislike similar or bubbly type people, so they'll likely get along best with Harding, Lucanis, Emmerich and Davrin, romancing whoever gets the most embarrassed or flustered when flirted with if any of them lol
My first playthrough is probably gonna be Shadow Dragons. I'm turning one of my (too many) Inquisitors into Rook, and so far that faction seems to suit him the best.
I always play a rogue in most rpg video games for a first playthrough before going into other options and builds but for this I wanna start off as a rogue from the antivan crows since I had a dnd character set in thedas who was trained by an older antivan crow
An old love of mine is the Grey Wardens signalling for me to choose that. Maybe as I go back through the books and more, I'll start shifting to the other factions to choose instead. But a Qunari Grey Warden is something I only dreamed of back in 2009.
ive always envisioned my pc for this game to be a qunari rogue who escaped/was liberated from slavery, so i gotta go shadow dragon for her! im so excited to have even a smidge of a chance to play out the backstory ive stirred up for her during all these years of clowning hsjbdjf
I honestly wanted a Tevinter character for so long that I'm definitely choosing Shadow Dragons. And I'm excited for the game for even just getting into Tevinter. Finally!
A dwarf, Lords of Fortune. Though Veil Jumpers and Mourn Watchers are tempting as well. I don't know which one I want to start with first. Honestly, Grey Wardens are my last choice.
Qunari Mage, Shadow Dragon=) Grey Warden is tempting but I've been a Grey Warden before (obviously) I want to all my characters to feel vastly different. I'm excited about all these options.
I'm teetering between the Crowes or the Veil Jumpers. I like the idea of my Rook being a mage who was either a hermit in the woods or had a hard life in the city.
Wardens or crows for my first just because they’re familiar to me and I won’t feel overwhelmed by new lore all at once but I definitely want to play as the mournwatch and veil group too I feel like they will have so much for a mage and that’s what I always am lol
I want to play a warden but usually my first playthrough of any dragon age game ends up being my least favorite character (usually their personality isn’t fleshed out and I romance the first cute person to talk tot them and I’m not always happy with my choices), so my first playthrough will probably be as a sassy lord of fortune. I feel like that’s the most blank slate origin I could start with (and also seems fun) And then my second playthrough (which usually ends up being my favorite character) will be an elf warden! In memory of my elf warden, Rowan, my wonderful, tragic fav main character
I think Grey Warden will be the most interesting and plot relevant for multiple reasons. I mean there's so much drama going on at Weisshaupt and who knows how many wardens from previous games, comics, or books are going to make an appearance. Not to mention Solas hates Wardens for some reason that we don't quite understand yet. Wardens and The Blight are totally going to have big roles to play, and I assume we will figure out what blights and arch demons are by the end of the game and it would be fun to find that out while playing as a Warden. Two Warden protagonists is however kinda redundant though. Veil Jumpers and Shadow Dragons also seem super interesting though. Antivan Crows always seemed fun.
I had already been in the middle of writing an Antivan Crow character before the faction reveal, so I’m happy I’ll actually get to use him and flesh him out!
I'm definitely doing mutiple playthroughs. I always do for Dragon Age so I will hopefully do most of them at some point. Leaning toward Antivan Crows first. Love the crows. But honestly might do Mourn Watch or Lords of Fortune on my first one. Very intrigued by what that could add to the experience.
That’s actually a really good idea to have faction backstory’s that dictate bonuses and dialogue. Makes different characters for different playthroughs more appealing
I'm so excited for all the factions, honestly :D I wonder how much of it will shape the outcome, and how much we can influence said outcome once we have decided on a faction.
Elven mage lord of fortune! After Solas and Merrill, who are the scholarly type, getting to go wild with elven magic as a treasure hunter will be fun as heck!
Grey Wardens! I hope there is something about us having been at the siege of the Adamant Fortress, but I'm guessing its more likely we came from Weisshaupt. Its a faction with so much established lore and known characters that its gotta be my first pick for sure. Second choice would probably be the Veil Jumpers to see if we can maybe try to reason with Solas, having seen the fade etc.
this is so hard to choose but i love that it gives da:tv more replayability since it seems like it'll really affect everything probably even more than da:o. even tho they all sound cool, story wise i'm thinking warden, shadow dragon, or veil jumper appeal to me most in the continuing story especially depending on how the whole thing with solas and the old god stuff goes lmao. i'll probably choose shadow dragon or warden for my first playthrough. but i do like that you probably have direct connections and history with certain party members depending on which faction you choose i think it'll make party dynamics more interesting and i wonder how it'll affect romances too.

I wish I’d gone through this information months ago, because now I have the game and I’m completely scrambling to decide which direction I want to take
i liked the addition of the qunari inquisitor in inquisition but it felt a little out of place for my canon run esp with the lavellan/solas thing, but im definitely making a qunari as my canon rook :)
Me with my history of all elves sweating buckets.
I'll be a human mage with the Black Dragon background. I'm going to have Rook try to free the slaves and try to change Tevinter for the better.
First playthrough, Lords of Fortune. I think playing as someone who hasn't been directly involved with the last three adventures would be cool.
I am gonna be an elven male/veil jumper for sure!
I've always been a lover of the elven lore since origins. And I feel like this version of Rook would get a lot of juicy Elven extra content. I can't wait!
Maybe third lol I am thinking about Lords of Fortune or Veil Jumper as a Dalish Elf Mage. Won't lie a Mage Antiven Crow sounds interesting lol
I am torn between those as well! I was leaning towards Lords of Fortune, but after watching this Veil Jumper seems more tempting now! 😭
Yeah it is a really hard choice. Veil jumper probably aligns best with a Mage but I won't lie a pirate Mage is an amazing concept lol. It will likely come down to what bonus I get for choosing that specific faction.
seems to me like DAO all over again with my 8 Wardens lol
@@smiley993 I will definitely be a warden like in my 3 Rd playthrough. I know I will play this a lot
Thanks for the excellent breakdown. I'm going for a Veil Jumper first playthrough and can't wait!!
thank you so much for this video Jack!! i was waiting for smth like this to help me choose
She joins the Shadow Dragons from there.
who's the father
Oghren
I like the gameplay mechanics. Like more damage on an enemy type
I am torn now, I thought Grey Warden for sure but now, Veil Jumpers and Shadow Dragons sound really awesome.
I don't know for certain, but I plan to romance Harding, as she's the first Dwarf you can. I'll probably start with a Dwarven Rogue. Maybe a crow.
A Vashoth Grey Warden would be pretty interesting to play as, we've never seen one before. Also, your name is Jackdaw, you basically have to be an Antivan Crow. :D
It's true!!!!
Im eye balling Antivan Crows, Viel Jumpers and Lords of Fortune they sound like fun
Eleven Mage, Shadow Dragons ( or Veil Jumpers.)
Initially, I thought Veil Jumpers, but I support removing the Veil, so Shadow Dragons sounds more up my alley :)
Curious about the veil jumpers, but also the lords of fortune and Antivan Crows too! So torn! All these new classes to choose from!!❤
I hope all Bioware said about the factions really changes the way we play, Cyberpunk 2077 said the same thing and it ended up being almost meaningless.
cap
I’m so torn! I honestly don’t know which faction to go with because they all seem so cool. I’m honestly tempted to just choose randomly.
This will be my first time playing as a warrior since they announced that we will be able to throw our shield at our enemies like Captain America🤩 I usually always have a first playthrough as a rogue, but the flying shield just hit me in the right spot very nicely🤭
And of course, Taash holds my peak interest so we will see how that goes😊
Wardens are amazing! But in terms of story it seems for me that the Veil Jumpers are the main attraction.
They appear to be the writer’s ode to the inquisition. These story lines are dogpoo, though
I was torn too, but leaning Crows. Then I heard about the last one and squealed like a little girl. I've always loved Nevarra. MOURN WATCH!
I’ve never played dragon age…
But from what I’ve heard from people who have played previous games, this isn’t a game they want to play for some reason.
I'm between Shadow Dragons and Mourn Watchers.
Also my case.
My first playthrough is probably gonna be Shadow Dragons. I'm turning one of my (too many) Inquisitors into Rook, and so far that faction seems to suit him the best.
Torn between the Crows and Veil Jumpers 😭
I always play a rogue in most rpg video games for a first playthrough before going into other options and builds but for this I wanna start off as a rogue from the antivan crows since I had a dnd character set in thedas who was trained by an older antivan crow
OHHH... Now THIS hypes me up for the game. Great factions and "origins" of character backstories. Noice!
An old love of mine is the Grey Wardens signalling for me to choose that. Maybe as I go back through the books and more, I'll start shifting to the other factions to choose instead.
But a Qunari Grey Warden is something I only dreamed of back in 2009.
Elven Rogue, Veil Jumper. I can't wait!
ive always envisioned my pc for this game to be a qunari rogue who escaped/was liberated from slavery, so i gotta go shadow dragon for her! im so excited to have even a smidge of a chance to play out the backstory ive stirred up for her during all these years of clowning hsjbdjf
Are you ready to decide Rook’s path? Let me know down below which faction you're thinking of choosing for your first playthrough!
Might go female qunari warrior or mage shadow dragon. But, can you be a qunari mage antivan crow?
my first chacter is going to be female qunari mage grey warden
mourn watch - death knight, grim reaper rogue or necromancer
crow.
Human mage shadow dragon or mournwatch
I honestly wanted a Tevinter character for so long that I'm definitely choosing Shadow Dragons. And I'm excited for the game for even just getting into Tevinter. Finally!
all us DA:O stans are picking wardens for sure
Nah, I want my Character to be able to live a Happy Life after the Story is over and with tainted Blood that wont work
I made them forcibly draft me every time lol and let Morgan take the baby so I didn't have to die.
Nah I already have my grey warden legend, time for something new.
I'm 100% sold on being an Antivan Crow, I've always wanted to see more of them.
omgggg CANT WAIT FOR NEXT VIDEO
A dwarf, Lords of Fortune. Though Veil Jumpers and Mourn Watchers are tempting as well. I don't know which one I want to start with first. Honestly, Grey Wardens are my last choice.
I laughed at "Torn like Natalie Imbruglia"
Haha thank you 😂
Qunari Mage, Shadow Dragon=) Grey Warden is tempting but I've been a Grey Warden before (obviously) I want to all my characters to feel vastly different. I'm excited about all these options.
I definitely want to play a qunari mage and am torn between Veil Jumper and Shadow Dragon.
I'm teetering between the Crowes or the Veil Jumpers. I like the idea of my Rook being a mage who was either a hermit in the woods or had a hard life in the city.
The more I learn about this game the more I warm up to it. That trailer really didn't do it justice.
Wardens or crows for my first just because they’re familiar to me and I won’t feel overwhelmed by new lore all at once but I definitely want to play as the mournwatch and veil group too I feel like they will have so much for a mage and that’s what I always am lol
Male Human Rogue, Antivan Crows
I want to play a warden but usually my first playthrough of any dragon age game ends up being my least favorite character (usually their personality isn’t fleshed out and I romance the first cute person to talk tot them and I’m not always happy with my choices), so my first playthrough will probably be as a sassy lord of fortune. I feel like that’s the most blank slate origin I could start with (and also seems fun)
And then my second playthrough (which usually ends up being my favorite character) will be an elf warden!
If raising a small skeleton army isn’t “practical necromancy,” I don’t know what is
I'm definitely doing mutiple playthroughs. I always do for Dragon Age so I will hopefully do most of them at some point. Leaning toward Antivan Crows first. Love the crows. But honestly might do Mourn Watch or Lords of Fortune on my first one. Very intrigued by what that could add to the experience.
This made me more excited for Veilguard than the gameplay trailer did
That’s actually a really good idea to have faction backstory’s that dictate bonuses and dialogue. Makes different characters for different playthroughs more appealing
🍽😋👏🏾 Eating good over here.Jack supplying that DA on a platter's special(Burp)!
The Lords of Fortune are so interesting to me! But the Shadow Dragons really match my playing style. So hard to decide!
I'm totally not doing wardens to see if i get my own griffon *nervous laughter*
I'm so excited for all the factions, honestly :D I wonder how much of it will shape the outcome, and how much we can influence said outcome once we have decided on a faction.
Dwarf Grey Warden
Elven mage lord of fortune! After Solas and Merrill, who are the scholarly type, getting to go wild with elven magic as a treasure hunter will be fun as heck!
They better explain what our OG warden has been up to or if they found a cure. If they don't give us something, they really dropped the ball.
For the OG Dragon Age fans giving this a go we all know what faction to choose. After 15 years we keep our OATH.
Appreciation for the backstory. I haven't read the 3rd party materials (which feel ironic because i adore the lore 🤔)
Honestly outside the Grey Wardens I dont like care about any of the other factions, would rather just be a straight up Tevinter War Mage.
this is so hard to choose but i love that it gives da:tv more replayability since it seems like it'll really affect everything probably even more than da:o. even tho they all sound cool, story wise i'm thinking warden, shadow dragon, or veil jumper appeal to me most in the continuing story especially depending on how the whole thing with solas and the old god stuff goes lmao. i'll probably choose shadow dragon or warden for my first playthrough. but i do like that you probably have direct connections and history with certain party members depending on which faction you choose i think it'll make party dynamics more interesting and i wonder how it'll affect romances too.
I will be playing "the non-customer."
