Does the latch sit there when the plastic cover is off? My issue was my latch wouldn't sit still on oem

Yes. It sits in place as it should. I haven't had any issues with it since the install.

What kind of screwdriver are you using?

I used an insulated electrician screwdriver like this one: amzn.to/3v3mtof. However, any Phillips screwdriver should do the trick for you. Hope that helps!
