I wish I could share a pic...the car took it all. It saved our life.
Guys what or who is the best tuning company for this engine? I want to get the most power out of this vehicle without destroying it in a split second. People have told me not to go with SSI so what are ur guys thoughts about who I should get a tune from?
My wife has a Ford Flex with EcoBoost and all-wheel drive. I can't tell you how many tuners I sent into the rear view mirror quick fast and in a hurry. Yes it's very fast.
I got my flex about a year ago. The v6 is great but not to mention the Sony sound system in the car is insanely good. Some of the best quality speakers on any car I’ve ever had
The awd flex and awd freestyle are underrated. I have a 07 ford freestyle painted Saleen charcoal grey and awd roush muffler and a roush duratec tune it’s not fast but it is quick sounds great but I do want to get a flex there sexy.
Bought the 2013 AWD twin turbo 3.5 EB winter of 2018, I’ll drive these bad boys till they rot out haha! This is seriously a bad ass vehicle, I can load up to 40-50 2x4x10’s inside with the seats down, and load the heck out of the roof rack with drywall and plywood for weekend projects, tow a camper and fit everything in the trunk for road trips and this thing can move when I feel like driving like a speed demon. I smoke mustangs and Camaros on the regular....I love it! Super “flexible” car....I mean suv or crossover or wait is it a wagon.....

I bet you all didn't know these had a "TailGate" mode. Press the button in the back, the rear seats will literally fold upside down so you and your buddy and sit on the rear bumper. These cars even had a total of 4 separate sun roofs, and the AWD system go fully RWD, FWD, or AWD. These cars are ridiculously cool and fun to drive.
V-6 twin turbos. 365 hp and 350 torque. This 4500 pound goes 5.5 seconds to 60 mph. How can you not like this Flex SHOgun. Getting on the highway is a kick in the butt. Stoplight racing would be a blast. A little soft ware adjusting and Dyno testing and you got 400 hp and 400 torque. Better tires and bigger brakes. Enough said! Shawn
That is bad was I never knew i use to clown my friend parents for having a flex and he was a ford guy had a 13 shelby never knew that flex was a beast now I'm finna go look at prices for one lol
A tune and an intercooler nets you over 400hp easy. I have an mks (fancy taurus sho) and pick on challengers, ricers, etc. Most fun ever. They never see it coming.
I bought a 2017 Flex Limited two years ago and i will drive it until it cant go anymore. Words dont describe how great it is. Ford should have never discontinued it.
I test drove one around the time the first gen came out, and was thoroughly impressed. Years later, my family had to replace the AWD V6 2006 Escape Limited we had for many years, and I got my wife to look at the Flex ( I still had a thing for them, and was aware of the budding sleeper cult-status these were earning on the street). We looked at 1 or 2 NA ones, and she liked them just fine, but we held out until we found a low km 2011 Limited with the EB. My wife admitted they were significantly different to drive than the NA models, and not too long after she started driving it on a regular basis (it became her DD when I got a Focus Titanium sedan with a manual transmission as mine), she called me at work one day, and called me a jerk. I asked why, and she said she had become addicted to the torque and overall power of the Flex, and she couldn't drive a slower car anymore. I also told her the AWD models with the towing package had a lower ride height than regular models (in the 1st gen anyway), and larger brakes (the rears were larger than the front). Over time we put Xtreme Stop drilled and slotted rotors, and Xtreme Stop ceramic pads front and rear, as well as DOT 4 brake fluid, and a host of other minor mods. Unfortunately, ours ended up with the dreaded timing chain and cam phaser wear out, and ended up selling the car as-is. We ended up buying a 2018 Limited AWD TT to replace it, and have been enjoying the car a lot. These cars have a cult-like following to them, where people that have them, keep buying them, or have more than one in their driveway. Like you mentioned, this car does just about everything. Seats upto 7 comfortably, hauls the peoples stuff, can tow, with ride and handling dynamics of the Taurus SHO, and I can say that ditching the stock Hankook Optimo tires with Cooper Zeon RS3-G1 tires for the summer, made the car even more engaging to drive. We also have a set of 18" 2014 Ford Edge SEL rims for the car in the winter, shod in Cooper Evolution True North winter tires, and the car is absolutely unfazed by snow or ice. Next project is to put Hawk Talon, or other aftermarket rotors and pads on it front and rear, and eventually a Livernois 91 Octane tune. I am actually considering selling my 2014 Focus ST and buying a second Flex for me, but lowering it about 1.5", putting something like American Racing Salt-Flats on it, MRT exhaust, downpipes and tune, and go annoy people in their leased luxury crossovers with it... Awesome video btw, and thanks for showing the merits of one of Detroit's best kept secrets...
I always did like the flex. Flex was actually the first Ford twin turbo suv. When the Twin Turbo Flex came out the Explorer was still body-on-frame. I thought the flexes were a little expensive back then, but now compared to the Explorer Sport twin turbo, no they werent, lol. I'm not sure how much torture does 6-speed can take, before it needs to be strengthened. I think in the Taurus s h o the Transmissions will take whatever the stock turbos can dish it out but after that they need strengthening. I would need at least 500 wheel in mine, lol.
They really do grow on ya. I hated them at first. Then bought a SHO, fell in love with the ecoboost platform, then started a family.... Traded for a box version of the SHO and never looked back. It's nice to have all that extra space and yet will still troll people at the lights.
I got a 2014, Skipped the AWD, so mine is NA, due to the amount of transfer cases that have went out in the Police Package Sedan Interceptors. I love my Flex. It's still very peppy for being NA.

I wish I could share a pic...the car took it all. It saved our life.
YES IVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS AS A LEGITIMATE FAMILY HAULER FOR ME AND MINE
Just got a '13 Flex SEL, that thing is sneaky fast! It's so smooth and quiet, you'll never know you're going that fast. And mine's not boosted!
I used to work at haag ford but yeah these things are sleepers
Guys what or who is the best tuning company for this engine? I want to get the most power out of this vehicle without destroying it in a split second. People have told me not to go with SSI so what are ur guys thoughts about who I should get a tune from?
My wife has a Ford Flex with EcoBoost and all-wheel drive. I can't tell you how many tuners I sent into the rear view mirror quick fast and in a hurry. Yes it's very fast.
Why on earth did they ever stop making the flex?
When I lived in South Florida, these were commonly used as undercover cop cars.
Just bought a 2018 today. SEL super comfy, quick and fully loaded. Most bang for the buck
“Remove the backseats the kids can always sit on the floor” had me coke on my coffee😂😂
You must really need that jolt of energy, coking up coffee is the most badass thing I've heard, I don't hang around much.
Haha meant choking 😂 a couple lines in the morning is always good to though!
Ohhh coca cola you mean...
@@StonerBoy-dw8lg not me.
I got my flex about a year ago. The v6 is great but not to mention the Sony sound system in the car is insanely good. Some of the best quality speakers on any car I’ve ever had
Turbos only covered for 60k/60mo from factory.
I absolutely love my flex, unbeatable. Strong asf, never any major issues for its lifetime, smooth drive, feels like luxury on the inside
The awd flex and awd freestyle are underrated. I have a 07 ford freestyle painted Saleen charcoal grey and awd roush muffler and a roush duratec tune it’s not fast but it is quick sounds great but I do want to get a flex there sexy.
I fully agree I had a 2005 Freestyle Limited and now have a 2015 Flex Limited.
Yep, and the flex has a ton of room. I can sit in the 3rd row seat at 6'3"
Bought the 2013 AWD twin turbo 3.5 EB winter of 2018, I’ll drive these bad boys till they rot out haha!
So the Flex got the ecoboost before any other ford? Amirite? you know what that means? the Ford GT has a station wagon motor. js.
In fifteen years I've never bothered to comment on a UA-cam video. Your comment is too good not to acknowledge. Well played.
@@ScorpioIsland " difference between chevy and ford? Chevy put a corvette motor in a wagon, ford put a wagon motor (first in Flex) in their supercar. curious."
this was my comment on a 5 best sleepers video. commenting on ford in general, not necessarily any in particular. i'm really not anti Ford, just pro GM.
This ain't yo Grandma's crossover....
I remember when I PDI'd the AWD Flex, all of us Ford Techs took it out.....
I did this with a 2013 FLEX. Did my FLEX 15CoyoteT56-8.8 with 4.10 swap..withba full tunnel.. Has. been in Muscle Mustang & FFORDS Twice.
Wait excuse me? An awd flex?
V-6 twin turbos. 365 hp and 350 torque. This 4500 pound goes 5.5 seconds to 60 mph. How can you not like this Flex SHOgun. Getting on the highway is a kick in the butt. Stoplight racing would be a blast. A little soft ware adjusting and Dyno testing and you got 400 hp and 400 torque. Better tires and bigger brakes. Enough said! Shawn
The stock brakes on the Flex are already pretty stout. They can really impress if you ever have to stand on them.
Damn! This is a sleeper! I want one! Imagine with mods? Damn! 😍
Its a taurus sho with 7 seats, all the parts fit
That is bad was I never knew i use to clown my friend parents for having a flex and he was a ford guy had a 13 shelby never knew that flex was a beast now I'm finna go look at prices for one lol
A tune and an intercooler nets you over 400hp easy. I have an mks (fancy taurus sho) and pick on challengers, ricers, etc. Most fun ever. They never see it coming.
Gonna*
I have a 2015 and love it. It's too smart to spin out in any condition
Been there done that and still enjoying my wife's Flex, when she let's me drive it.
I bought a 2017 Flex Limited two years ago and i will drive it until it cant go anymore. Words dont describe how great it is. Ford should have never discontinued it.
I mean range rover aesthetics with better reliability, pretty comfortable interior, and fast as fuck. Pretty much the best dadwagon out there
@Josh Morales the Durango SRT is not meant to be a sleeper, but still that things a beast
Just actually a video I can show them my fiance and she'll have to say yes because it's a family car thank you
I always did like the flex.
Do a before you buy a Ford Fusion sport.
ATX-CVPI i was about to comment the same thing
Yes please
Yes pleassee
Explorer Sport
They really do grow on ya. I hated them at first. Then bought a SHO, fell in love with the ecoboost platform, then started a family.... Traded for a box version of the SHO and never looked back. It's nice to have all that extra space and yet will still troll people at the lights.
"Heh, Supra who?"
I want to get an ecoboost one and Slam it and throw an exhaust on it and make a kick ass band vehicle/hauler (they have so much space in it)
Mustang GT just needs a new driver mod
That’s all..
I have a twin turbo. 376hp awd. It moves. Gas mileage ok too.
Not a sleeper unless it has steel rims with the hubcaps removed
@ILUV2SK8 504 my comment was meant to be funny, yours missed the mark big time
2010 flex twin turbo , every vehicle I ve owned this is the best one yet.
Amazing times we live in. That thing would've embarrassed my '90 LX 5.0.
Yeah, I embarrassed a few Fox bodies in my N/A SEL.
I got a 2014, Skipped the AWD, so mine is NA, due to the amount of transfer cases that have went out in the Police Package Sedan Interceptors. I love my Flex. It's still very peppy for being NA.
