I prefer Angelina's voice, raw, more dynamic and emotive. Rihanna's version sounds compressed, less dynamic, overly produced. Yes, personal preference.
It's amazing to me the high quality of a song performance that Angelina can create, just sitting in a room with a mike and an excellent guitarist. That we can even favorably compare her performance to that of a highly produced song by veteran singer nearly 20 years older than her is just astounding. Something in the tone and expression of Angelina's singing [to me] conveys more emotion and intimacy than so many other well-known singers.
I really agree with your last sentence. In general it's easier to make an emotional impact with smaller productions and "live" than (over)produced tracks so for those who think the setting and non-production is a disadvantage in settings like AJ's here are wrong imo. The advantage with production is that you can make a song "grow" over the duration of the song which keeps the interest of the listener easier.
Remember we are comparing a highly produced studio production including a back-up singer, to a 12 yo girl at her house with no production. In a recent interview, with guitarist Ivan Mendez, this is a one & done performance with no rehearsal. A few minutes before it was recorded she asked "Do you know the song Stay?" He hadn't ever played it so he spent a few minutes reviewing the cord changes while she got the lyrics on her phone. Then she says "Just follow me" while Grandma Mery gets the videocam & begins recording. This was her on-the-fly, one-time interpretation that as far as I can tell she's never sung it again. At least it's her only version of the song on YT. It's one of 90-100 one-time songs she did like this from 11-13 yo where she was just expanding her versatility. As far as the comparison between the two, to me Angelina's version is much better than the original, but that's just my opinion.
Cool, thanks for the info. I'd like to add that in general it's easier to make an emotional impact with smaller productions and "live" than (over)produced tracks so for those who think the setting and non-production is a disadvantage in settings like AJ's here are wrong imo. The advantage with production is that you can make a song "grow" over the duration of the song which keeps the interest of the listener easier. What I missed most from the other version was the dude's voice though.
@@103mrg I've watched this entire concert, but not in quite a while so I forgot about this. So I guess she has 2 versions on YT. I much prefer the version with Ivan on guitar but they are both great.
I prefer Angelina's style. Sometimes after listening to Angelina, another singer will sound less full; less heartfelt. Angelina has done a duet on another song and it was beautiful.
Great reaction! I for1 will never need to listen to Rihanna doing the song again. Had heard it on the radio a couple of times, but hadn't noticed it much. After AJA's cover I listened to Rhianna's again and didn't make it half way through before cutting it short. This is an absolute gem from her cover collection at that age.
Vocally, I find Angelina far superior to Rihanna, both in tone and technique. No contest, really. But yes, there’s something to be said for the original production, and especially the harmonics. I am not a fan of background music, so I’d still go with Angie on a playlist, because she makes me FEEL the song and the meaning behind it.
I have heard Angelina sing this many times, but never Rihanna. I have to say I loved Rihanna. But...Angelina still haunts me; some so subtle. How wonderful to have two great versions.
Rihanna's song is nice, for sure. But Angelina's cover is pure genius, what an approach to this song. And i like just that procrastinations she does to the end of the words. As you always say, personal preference ;-)
No singer has ever brought mist to my eyes damn near with each performance except this child, Angelina. I did almost tear up once a while back when I saw the God awful tattoo down Riri's neck. And after that infamous whooping by Chris Brown. Let's hope AJ makes better choices with future relationships. But as far as singing goes imo hands down Angelina brings more soul to the gig.
Haven't listened to your reaction yet, but for me it isn't close. Rihanna maybe a Billionaire, but she's a pop star. I like her voice very much. Angelina on the other hand transformed this song into something that touches me deeply. Without the expensive production. Just her and a guitarist in a converted bedroom or den. I still get chills. (Edit) Good job.

@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 yeah I agree...in part. I don't think Rihanna's was overproduced though. I think it was very well produced. I enjoyed her version thoroughly, and I don't really believe it would have benefitted from less production. Also maybe she could have done as well with one take, which is also really important for the "feels", but I wouldn't lay money on it. Also I heard Angelina's version first, so there is that. I looked up Rihanna's after. So individually we heard it in reverse order our first times. I actually appreciated Rihanna's more this time than I have before and I've listened to several of her recordings on it, but always with the Angelina take fresh in my ear. Great chatting with you. Love your channel.
I don't think it was over produced either but a lot of my subs(maybe only AJ fans?) use that term frequently so I put the word "over" in there :-) Thanks Daniel
As much as I like Rihanna's song, I must say I prefer Angelina's version. To me, her voice has a warmer tone, with more personality, if that makes sense. Thanks for showing us both versions side by side, Danny! I'll keep watching.
Angelina is 12 here, and this is shortly after she received this terrific Neumann 102 microphone for her birthday. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, and its recorded in a non-professional setting. Rihanna was 25 when she released "Stay" as a single, recorded in a very professional studio setting. In reality, there should be no comparison. Yet we are tossed by whose version is the best. I believe that says tons about just how Fantastic Angelina's performance is. I think Rihanna's version is excellent, and her voice is truly terrific. But for some reason, I don't get the emotional hit from it. I listen and think, that's really, really good---terrific voice and production. Then I listen to this 12 year old girl sing, and she makes me cry. I can't tell you why, but she does that to me all the time. And that's what I look for in a performance---how does it make me feel? So for me, there's really no contest. I would always choose Angelina's version because of how she tugs at my heart. I really liked your analysis Danny. While we didn't come to the same conclusion, we share many things about both performances.
Minor correction; Microphone is a the TM-102 model.(The 103 has a more satin finish on the trim ring.) Not that important unless someone is wanting to evaluate microphones. They're both excellent and ideal for her purpose.
Top of the head chills indeed!! Every time for me with this beautiful cover... Thanks for a great reaction. I don't always enjoy comparison reactions but yours are an exception, thoughtful, detailed, intelligent and honest....thumbs up!
One of the things that is impressive to me is we get to see her more raw and unpolished prep for the big show feeling I get. Plenty of little things, but the ability and potential is off the charts. So expectations are high and many are emotionally vested it seems (She does make you feel) So let's see what she can do? After all we are a "What have done for me lately" Type of species.
I used to put Stay on repeat by Rihanna but she’s not the vocalist Angelina is. I believe the song seems to have a different meaning between the two artist
Angelina is a lot better. while Rihanna says "go"... "know"... "move" at the end of 3 lines, Angelina says "goooooo", "knoooow", "moooooovvee" which sounds a lot better. And she trows vibrato everywhere she wants to.
With the probability that you will alienate some portion of your subscribers, I find it rather bold of you to do these comparisons. However, this is one of the ways that someone can fairly show the strengths and weaknesses for each. While I personally don't agree with your final assessment, your path and logic to get there were reasonable. Your charge is to evaluate both productions as they ARE presented and NOT with all of the ancillary considerations of age and production environments. For me, the question becomes: Does Rhyanna's full production trump Angelina's arrangement and vocals on this song, IMO, Angelina comes out on top and it is not that close of a call. Having said this, you have no dog in this fight and whether I want to admit it or not - I do. I hope you continue in doing these remarkable comparisons because they are excellent.
Danny, no contest!. Come on now. Danny, I'm glad you smiled when you talked about the long vibrato's. Must of been a struggle to find something. Your loyalty to the musical industry apparently is most important to you. That's okay. "Voting" against the establishment seemed like it would make you uncomfortable. Angelina will survive. This wasn't a very good video. It was a masterpiece.
Robert DeMartin.Months ago I did something that I don't do often,I was listening to another artist I think it was Morissette, and one comment was that the cover by Morissette must be the world's best cover,I had to disagree, and I told that my candidate as the world's best cover is this cover of Stay,by Angelina,so good do I think her version is,it has long time may be been my favorite cover by her.
@@frankjohansen9364 Frank, of course. It's that good. What bothered me is how could Danny say what he did! I think he was trying to stir up some controversy. But, whatever, it's his channel. Frank, Angelina has about 10 covers that are the best ever. Born To Die, Feelin' Good, I'm Holding Out For You, Autumn Leaves, Crazy, Mr Lonely, and on and on.
Frank, I had to add this comment. How can I forget A Million Years Ago? Just her and Ivan on the guitar. Absolutely incredible. And, All I Ask. (I probably left out another 10 or so.)
As a personal preference, and yes an Angie fan, Rihanna's voice is just ok...no substance, bland tone and very little emotion in singing. Has a lot of production behind it to make it actually sound as good as it does, just my thoughts and opinion. Thanks for reacting and commenting Danny.
I can see Angie doing vocal clinics as a good part of what she's doing as a pro. I mean a clinic at Berklee and universities to music majors. Other musicians do it.
It isn't really fair to Angelina to compare her one time performance accompanied by a single guitarist to a huge studio production that had been enhanced. What surprises me is that Rhianna's performance wasn't any better than it was. It's just my taste but, I would have prefered a little less noise and her voice seemed flat.
it takes all types I guess.....to me, these two singers are on completely different levels. with more experience, effort, training, practice, and hard work I think Rihanna could close the gap some, but will never catch Angelina....just my honest take on this.
Rihanna never been my kind of singer so her songs never been my favorite too but if I have to pick one I would pick angelina's version and is not because of the song it's just because of angelina's voice and her singing style she is my most favorite singer after all great honest reaction as always 🙏🙏👍👍💙💙
Loved this analysis. It reminds us that singers don't just sing in a vacuum. An audience hears the whole production, and it's the integrated whole that they respond to. The performance is not just the singer, even if the singer is the featured element. I agree with you that the tone of Angelina just makes her stand out, and I readily prefer her voice to Rihanna. But, there were a number of other interpretive choices that made Angelina's version preferable to me. It seemed that Rihanna sang at a faster tempo. Angelina's apparently slower pace allowed her to deliver more of the emotion that's in the lyrics of the song. When Rihanna ran up into her higher registers it didn't seem to naturally follow what preceded it: something of a non sequitur musically or emotionally. Angelina's movements between her registers always felt right. As for which of the two performances I prefer? Angelina's, hands down. Angelina's version was two kids, sitting on a couple of chairs in a room somewhere, playing and singing into a mic - one take. Rihanna had access to a fully professional recording studio, any backup performers of her choice, sound engineers, and the opportunity to merge best cuts of multiple takes into the best result. For Rihanna, it could not get any better. Put Angelina in the same situation, maybe with a very good arranger, and it's no contest. Even with the situation as it was, you had a hard time deciding which performance you preferred. You gave Rihanna the nod based a small preference for the orchestration backing her performance.
Thanks WP. I have to disagree on the studio being an advantage in this comparison though.
"WARNING! THIS VIDEO CONTAINS HONEST REACTIONS...DEAL WITH IT!" 😆😂🤣 LOVE THIS! May I add, your replies to comments are also honest. I appreciate when reactors are honest. I understand it's their opinion and it's their channel so I don't take it personally. Some "super fans" have a difficult time hearing anything but good things about their favorite artists. We need to learn how to disagree with each other and still be respectful. Danny, I feel that you do that but unfortunately this world is falling away from that. We can learn by listening to each other even if we don't agree. I also like these side by side reactions. Keep up the good work! Btw, I prefer Angelina's voice.
Glad you like my sign :-) Thanks! Yeah I agree 100%, let's agree to disagree and then move on. And it's just music for god's sake. Imagine trying to come to some agreement about more important suff, haha.

Haha, yeah I'm not into politics so I don't know much about that other than it seems the people in the US seem extremely divided...and that's probably partly true about Sweden as well :-) I'll stick with music.
Of course, Rihanna is a great singer. Unfortunately, in most productions I can't hear how good she really is. To make a direct comparison you would have to compare a live performance with Angelina's "live" production. You should have compared this live performance with Angelina's. ua-cam.com/video/Hqpw9dtKChg/v-deo.html And in this case, Angelina is leaps and bounds better. All I can say here though, Angelina I can unmistakably recognize after just a few seconds of singing. The voice of Rihanna does not have the recognizability.
Yeah that didn't sound great but the mix wasn't to my preference either. I'd love to hear Rihanna sing in the same type of intimate setting as AJ does, just to really hear her voice.
Hmmmm.....you remind me of the old saying that when two partners always agree, one is unnecessary. Danny right from my first time seeing your reaction, you've been necessary. You very often challenge my opinions but most of the time, like today I'm cheering for our barefoot princess. 😉
You know a vs that would have been would been more justified, choosing a Rihanna live version of Stay. Try Stay Concert Of Valor 2014. You can easily make a comparison there.
I actually really enjoy both of them, but if asked whose version I would want to hear again and again, I would have to say Angelina's version. Her voice catches at me, which makes me really listen to the words of the song. I enjoyed the way you presented this, and like you said, it's just personal opinion.
I wonder how Angelina feels about everyone comparing her to the original artists. Personally, I don't believe she is really in favor of such things, and has the utmost respect for them. Also, we're comparing a child to an adult. Even if we don't find Angelina's version 'up-to-par,' today, that doesn't mean it won't be 10 years from now. This is definitely not a negative comment towards you, or other people who do these types of reactions. I just don't think there needs to be this type of competition. The same is true of Diana Ankudinova. She does a wonderful performance of Derniere Dancer, and so many people say it is better than the original performance;however, I find the original is great, in its own right. Another example would be Dimash performing "SOS." While no one can sing like Dimash, the original is spectacular, and to compare the two detracts from the song, itself. 😊😊
I think AJ is old and smart enough to understand that when you do covers you will automaticlly be compared to the original. And the reason one can compare is cause she's good enough. If it was a child going "goo goo gaga" then there would be no comparison but even at this age AJ is good enough to make the comparison. And it's not a competition for real, it's just a fun way to look at 2 different versions imo. To me it has nothing to do with disrespect, it's just music and people's personal opinions and tastes. I respect both these artists and what they do and think they are both very talented. :-)
Mikky Ekko is one of the original writers of the song, with Justin Parker and Elof Loelv from Sweden=) Mikky also has his own version of the song out. Surprised u havent heard this one, same thing here i like both versions or even all 3 with Mikkys included,
Listen to Angie's vibrato, she is doing more than a typical vibrato, she is toggling between two distinct notes (A and C), a minor 3rd, it's like yodeling. This toggling is very much what a keyboard player would do with their right hand, they would play a two note chord, so in my opinion she's being a piano for the moment, So many of her jazz influences had such wide vibrato's and learning was as easy as listening to music. Angie has excellent pitch, she has a memory for remembering the slightest phrasing nuances. She wasn't taught this, and she NEVER tried to do it, She just DID it. It's an attitude and concentration thing, determination, knowing how to get distraction out and get to the straight path. Great guitarists do the same thing in their mental preparations. Anyway Angie is being a musician, she's not dragging her lines out, imo.
IMO, making a comparison between the voices of Angelina and Rihanna is subjective. It does come down to how they interpret the lyrics and make the listener feel. I take no issue with Angelina’s sustained vibrato because I expect her to her to perform the covers she sings in her unique style. Given that, Angelina was twelve years old in this raw and unrehearsed impromptu performance. There is clearly the absence of any autotune or digital massaging of Angelina’s vocals. Rhianna’s performance is good, but let’s face it, it is a finished recording label production.
I agree, especially with your conclusion at the end Danny. If I was putting one on a play list it would be the original, no doubt. On the other hand, I see Angelina, with a simple (but very good) accompaniment, at a very young age, still reading the lyrics, in one take, produce a mind-blowing cover, that I enjoy watching time after time on youtube (and now I think about it, I only watched Rhianna's original once on youtube). I wonder what Rhianna and other famous singers would have been able to record in similar circumstances?
I think Rihanna would have done great but not as great cause I love AJ's voice more.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 Ooooh yes, I hadn't though of it like that. So AJ's advantage is her unique voice and the fact that she puts it to such good use. Love the changes she makes in her covers too, like California Dreamin' (in the Donald Duck top!) :)

I appreciate the honesty, and to be fair, hard to compare a home made, one take music video to a fully produced professional video with a good singer(Rhianna) and an unexpectedly very good vocalist (Mickey) that adds quality vocals to a professionally released song. For the first to make you think that hard on which is a better version, Angelina hit it out of the park.

Danny, is that really Rhianna in the 1st version? I'd never heard her sing it before that i remember. Her voice is really nice, has quite a range too. I like this song. Plus, she probably practiced and practiced. Awww! Angelina is with Ivan Mendez with this song. This is one of those on- try home videos. I love how Angelina does this song. I really enjoy how she sings her words. There's a few things that could be better, but she is reading the words and they didn't practice because Ivan is strumming mostly. In an interview he said that he wouldn't know what song they were doing till it was time. I prefer Angelina's version. I'd like to hear Angelina perform this song currently. That would be interesting to see how her voice has matured. I like the "do you like this one or that one" reactions.
I've heard Rhianna sing without all off the effects and harmonies(her voice needs a lot of help to sound good) and it's a bit bland. No comparison. Rihanna couldn't have come close to Angie with just a guitar and a bit of vocal delay. I don't think you'd have noticed Angie's sustained notes. But I respect your opinion and enjoy your reactions and evaluations very much. Thank you.
It is very difficult to compare anybody to Amy Winehouse or Rihanna. Rihanna is maybe the most successful female artist on this planet, and this is for a reason. Her voice resonates with the dark lyrics of her songs, and is instantly recognisable, and very strong personality. She is maybe my favourite female artist (next to Lana del Rey). Angelina even at her age is absolutely stunning and conveys emotions in a different way. Obviously, at that age, her rendition might appear less 'believable' than Rihanna's - so the only reason to compare these versions at this point is only for fun :-) 2 world class singers.
👩🏻🎤🎵🌎⭐️🇳🇴❤️ Thanks for another great Angelina reaction Danny. I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you though. I think you actually prefer Angelina's version. 😀
The title was who sang it better. Obviously the production was high dollar studio version with Rihanna. Angalina is the better singer hands down. Even as you say personal preference. As a professional singer, you have to give the nod to Angalina.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 I get it on the personal preference, some may like Rihanna better, they just may like her sound better. I have no problem with who likes who better. Who is the better singer though, I don't think there shouldn't be a problem saying who is a better singer. Angelina has more tools in her toolbox. I think that part is pretty obvious 🤔
An example would be I play American football, lead the team in tackles and interceptions. Better statistics. The guy next to me has the size, speed and more ability. Will make the pro's. He's flat out better and more equipped even though his statistics aren't as good.
By the way I'm a huge Angalina fan,but I don't like all her songs. I can admit when something isn't so good. I'm under no illusions that she can do no wrong.
I prefer Angelina but the original is always what the artist wanted. You may prefer a cover but it does not mean it is better. It is just a personal preference. The same with voices. The Americans have been going through this for example about their 3 acappella basses since 2013 and just keep adding more bass voices to the "competition". It comes down to personal preference. Literally called "bass battles". Very silly really. The singers themselves only joke about it and all support each other. The videos always add another layer to the performance to like or dislike as well.
@@dannytheswedishmusixian1513 The part that is bad is the attempt to tear down one performance over another for unrelated reasons. That has happened going all the way back to the Beatles at least. I preferred the sound and lyrics from Paul McCartney's work myself but other people preferred John Lennon. That became an incredible split and war between the fans when they broke up. The music was often lost in the anger between the two.

Hi Danny just wondering if you will miss Angelinas voice the next time you listen to the original, I do. I miss her voice no mather who else I listen to so I guess I am a lost case. LOL
like comparing a perfect apple to an apple pie. Love Rihanna, but Angelina's voice carries more: a silky weight of complex tones. Angelina has a register, no other singer can match. Angelina here, what age 14 with no auto tune or background studio input. Angelina in 2023 and beyond: every great female singer in the top 40 will privately idolize Angelina's voice and talent. No one can touch her talent.
Rihanna is singing a stadium of 80000 people with a normal clear voice, and Angelina is singing in a wedding of 80 people with her jazzy voice. Angelina is overrated for some reason.
It's easy to sing "normal clear voice" for Rihanna when you're lypsinc on a playback track like at the last Super Bowl. Angelina, contrary to what you say, has sung many times in front of huge crowds, including 40,000 in Seoul, with no problems, no playback track, and no fear. The Stay's version of this 12-year-old girl, sitting in her room, reading the lyrics as she sings, just accompanied by a guitarist and without all the technical tricks Rihanna had in the studio to mask her vocal weaknesses, is far better vocally. Rihanna is overrated.
Artistic license or if you prefer personal taste. I don’t sing so unlike you I don’t have your artistic experience. In my experience as an advisor I to find myself critical of others work it’s just life. Look up the interview by Alan Papier to get a deeper understanding of Angelina and her production. We can disagree, just as you can and should comment. It all goes into the mix.
You sir need to stop comparing Angelina with other singers. Don't you know or understand every singer is unique in there own way. We all have different voices, therefore what are you comparing. This is not fair for Angelina and others. I'm glad I don't see your reactions anymore. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Rihanna does a decent cover of Angelina's song. In other words Angelina does this song better. That is my personal taste.
Vocally, I find Angelina far superior to Rihanna, both in tone and technique. No contest, really. But yes, there’s something to be said for the original production, and especially the harmonics. Yup :-)
(Edit)
Good job.
Thanks Bill! I agree on the tone of voice.
Thanks William! Yeah I usually don't get any strong emotional jolt from Rihanna and many times I do from AJ. This song for me was ok but not more.
Minor correction; Microphone is a the TM-102 model.(The 103 has a more satin finish on the trim ring.) Not that important unless someone is wanting to evaluate microphones. They're both excellent and ideal for her purpose.
@@bblair502 You're right. Thanks for the correction. I changed it. 😁
There is no comparison ,AJ's voice much better ,more smooth and nature.
Top of the head chills indeed!! Every time for me with this beautiful cover...
Thanks for a great reaction. I don't always enjoy comparison reactions but yours are an exception, thoughtful, detailed, intelligent and honest....thumbs up!
Thanks you, I appreciate it 👍🏻
Rihanna is a good singer, I have enjoy many performances. Angelina to me has an tone that get,'s me ever time. Like your reaction as always.
Thanks Linda!
Both are great. Which one I would listen to would depend on my mood.
Well, it is hard to find an orginal that is sung better than Angelina's cover
Always appreciate your honest opinion Danny. Thanks for another great reaction to AJ. Keep them coming.
Thanks Dirk!
Angelina's persistence with notes is her personal taste which her fans also prefer. Personal taste as you say.
Thanks!
Hey, she's 12. LOL
Her rendition is still far superior.
:-)
Angelina is a lot better. while Rihanna says "go"... "know"... "move" at the end of 3 lines, Angelina says "goooooo", "knoooow", "moooooovvee" which sounds a lot better. And she trows vibrato everywhere she wants to.
To each their own.
Yeah I think it's fun and lots of viewers seem interested in it so I'll do more of these for sure, thanks.
Haha! If you're not kidding you are delusional when it comes to my supposed loyalty to anything other than my own personal taste.
Huh?
Angelina Jordan definitely a better singer. I wouldn't change anything. Love your videos Danny keep them coming
Thanks Christian!
As a personal preference, and yes an Angie fan, Rihanna's voice is just ok...no substance, bland tone and very little emotion in singing. Has a lot of production behind it to make it actually sound as good as it does, just my thoughts and opinion. Thanks for reacting and commenting Danny.
Thanks!
I can see Angie doing vocal clinics as a good part of what she's doing as a pro. I mean a clinic at Berklee and universities to music majors. Other musicians do it.
It maybe the original. But tonight and tomorrow if you find this song running through your mind my guess it will be Angelina’s voice singing it.
I like that you actually talk about Your Personal Taste in music. I love Angelina but I understand what you are saying.
Yes personal taste is what it all comes down to in the end.
Angelina's version all the way. She makes it very warm with her voice. Rihanna's versions seems a little colder.
Rihanna never been my kind of singer so her songs never been my favorite too but if I have to pick one I would pick angelina's version and is not because of the song it's just because of angelina's voice and her singing style she is my most favorite singer after all great honest reaction as always 🙏🙏👍👍💙💙
Thanks Mehdi!
Thank you for the reaction😊 I came abroad only because she was on the cover.😍 But a tie no sir 🤯🤔
Thanks! So who did better iyo? :-)
My Angel😍 Angelina Jordan 😘

There is really no comparison, Angelina has charisma and an elusive ill defined quality that you have to experience to appreciate.
Good reaction, Angelina took ownership of this one, God Bless!
Thanks!

Of course, Rihanna is a great singer. Unfortunately, in most productions I can't hear how good she really is. To make a direct comparison you would have to compare a live performance with Angelina's "live" production.
You should have compared this live performance with Angelina's.
ua-cam.com/video/Hqpw9dtKChg/v-deo.html
And in this case, Angelina is leaps and bounds better.
Thats why I subscribe. I do not allways agree, but I prefere an honnest reaction (and you did like her voice better than Rhiannas) =)
Thanks, glad you like the format :-)
Fair comment. But in reality there is no contest. Angelina remains the reigning monarch.

12 year old Angelina is better than the mega star Rihanna LOL. I understand your reaction and your conclusion. As you say, it's personal taste.
Yup :-)

Sorry rihanna and to you also ......... the song is for 12 yo who sang beautifully.......✌
Aj makes me 'hear' the words better
Surprised u havent heard this one, same thing here i like both versions or even all 3 with Mikkys included,
Aha, I see, thanks for the info :-)
Thanks Tom
Cool
IMO, making a comparison between the voices of Angelina and Rihanna is subjective. It does come down to how they interpret the lyrics and make the listener feel. I take no issue with Angelina’s sustained vibrato because I expect her to her to perform the covers she sings in her unique style. Given that, Angelina was twelve years old in this raw and unrehearsed impromptu performance. There is clearly the absence of any autotune or digital massaging of Angelina’s vocals. Rhianna’s performance is good, but let’s face it, it is a finished recording label production.
The fact is it’s easier to convey emotion in a setting like AJ’s compared to a produced version so it’s not a disadvantage.
In general it's easier to make an emotional impact with smaller productions and "live" than (over)produced tracks so for those who think the setting and non-production is a disadvantage in settings like AJ's here are wrong imo.

Glad you like these, I do too :-)
Hi Danny, please react to Angelina '' Suspicious Mind and 7th Heaven '' Thank You
Tie. Lol. Both are great. Pretty hard to compete with Rihanna tho to be honest.
:-)
I've heard Rhianna sing without all off the effects and harmonies(her voice needs a lot of help to sound good) and it's a bit bland. No comparison. Rihanna couldn't have come close to Angie with just a guitar and a bit of vocal delay. I don't think you'd have noticed Angie's sustained notes. But I respect your opinion and enjoy your reactions and evaluations very much. Thank you.
Aha, I don’t remember ever hearing her un-produced. Thanks Don
Yeah it’s just a bit of fun.

There is no factual better. Just personal taste. And yes, I like AJ's voice much more that Rihanna's.
Better technical singer. I don’t know. Don’t think I’ve ever heard go all out live? Just heard her do pop.
An example would be I play American football, lead the team in tackles and interceptions. Better statistics. The guy next to me has the size, speed and more ability. Will make the pro's. He's flat out better and more equipped even though his statistics aren't as good.

Yeah music is all about personal taste. People take their own taste very seriously a lot fo the time.
The music was often lost in the anger between the two.

like comparing a perfect apple to an apple pie.
