Here is a bit of info on why we love Angelina even more. When Angelina was 6 years old, she met a homeless girl around her age in Iran. The girl did not have any shoes, and Angelina says her feet were scarred. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes. Angelina then “vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them.” She keeps that promise to this day, as she says that little girl “is always in my heart.”

This was recorded in her home. The guitarist, hired by her uncle Mike is Ivan Mendez, a proffesional musician/student. He would go over to her house and they would record songs. Many they both just learned. The microphone is a Neumann microphone model TM-102. She got it for her 12th birthday. They both had just learned this song. Her looking to the right is her reading the words. This was recorded on their second take. He screwed up the tempo in the first take. I saw an interview with him and he said she was so unbelievable that somtimes he would get lost in her voice and would mess up but she would always be very nice and remind him of the arrangement then they would do it again. I love learning the backstories of the songs. I was blown away when their first reaction of her popped up on my UA-cam. Since then I’ve watched so many of her covers and I’m just in awe of her raw talent. I’ve never been so invested or gotten so emotional from hearing someone sing like I was with Angelina.
@@fred5784 I get what you are implying, but there are many videos of her singing without a mic, with just a cellphone, with the same quality and richness of voice. If the purpose of using the microphone was to apply any kind of process, they would have started by removing the breathing noises we hear that are usually removed first in post-production. What this microphone received a few months ago for her 12th birthday brings is the capture of all the nuances of her voice, even the breathing.
When I hear her cover all the great songs by famous artists, I feel like I’m hearing the songs for the first time and actually feel all the emotions of the words instead of just listening to the song. I also love to watch the expressions from the musicians while they play as she sings. They are all mesmerized by her voice and probably feel privileged they get to be a part of the experience❤️

Her name is Daneliya (Duh nel ee yuh) and she is from Kazakhstan, like Dimash who called her a, 'National Treasure', she is 6 months younger than Angelina, and has had a relatively similar path to being known. I am giving you this video because Daneliya was basically the same age as Angelina when she sang her cover of Rihanna's 'Stay'. Daneliya was 13 and was just about to go to LA for her run on AGT 2020 where she went to the finals and finished 6th. Daneliya moved to the U.S. right after her 16th birthday by herself. Her family couldn't uproot and move like Angelina's did. She then turns around and through that magical tone in her voice, is able to reach the souls of the people fortunate enough to have found this beautiful, humble, classy, empathetic, unbelievably talented 16 year old young lady whose career is about to finally explode.
I've always loved this song myself. When I saw Angelina had covered it, I was very hopeful that she would live up to the original. I don't know why I was even questioning it. She not only lived up to the original, she (as she often does) surpassed it IMO. No disrespect to rihanna (she's the one that made me love the song in the first place), but at only 12 years old, Angelina sat down with her guitarist (Ivan Mendez) and was able to add so much depth and character to this vocal. She gave it a new feeling that I never got from it before. It's just staggering the talent this girl has.
I agree Rusty, but there is something absolutely magical about the cooperation between Ivan and Angelina in this video. And this was also a one take recording. She tried to recreate this with other musicians with no luck. Angelina with average musicians is still very good, Angelina with good musicians is heaven.

Someone has to be the best singer you’ve ever heard. For many of us, it’s Angelina. I believe the slight mix-up on the lyrics has nothing to do with English being Angelina’s second or third language. This was one of her frequent informal sessions with her guitarist where Angelina is just going where her musicality takes her, reading the lyrics off her phone. There are many videos created just like this one. Although this is, for me, the best version I’ve ever heard of Stay, my favorite in this setting is her staggering cover of Adele’s “A Million Years Ago.” Angelina doesn’t just interpret the lyrics-she brings you along with her, and you relate to the lyrics with memories from your own life and experience. I believe Angelina was 11 or 12 for A Million Years Ago. That’s the performance, completely informal and unrehearsed, that made me realize that a very young child was the best singer I’ve ever heard.

Both versions are independently great. The lyrics of the song is obviously a turning point in a powerful love story.. When I hear Rhianna's version I feel conflicted and honestly somewhat trapped in indecision to leave or stay. When I hear Angelina's version I feel like wow I really love you and wish we can work it out because we both have hope for a better life together but if not then my heart is terribly broken. But I'll be okay...in time. So with Rhianna I feel trapped and not ready to let go. With Angelina I feel free and ready to experience what else life has for me.

Notice that she is reading the lyrics from an Ipad. Ivan Mendez, the guitarist, says that they shot most of their sessions on the first or second try. Neither did they rehearse or plan for what songs to do, it is more of a jam session. There is a great interview with him about it. The other songs they did are also absolute gold.
In my humble opinion, by the time AJ finishes her musical career, she will become the greatest musical prodigy in history. Yes! she has been arranging the music from an early age, same as Mozart. And yes! she has been vocalizing since a toddler, but what sets her apart from every other musician, is that she rearranges the music, based on the vibrations, so that when she puts her vocals on top of the vibrations, the same song that we've heard a thousand times before, we feel it brand new and so much better than the original version. Pedro, you are absolutely correct. The only singer in my opinion that was like her is Eva Cassidy. At age 16 Angelina is almost leveling Eva at twice the age. Angelina still is a bit behind in the gospel kind of voice and "beautiful" voice. But in blues, rock, pop, jazz she is at same level or better.
She absolutely slayed, killed and took Adele's Easy On Me and made it sound like she wrote and sang it. Angelina is a one in a billion gift. She is a true child prodigy. What a voice!!
Hello from Norway! I've followed Angelina for over a year now. From the very day I discovered her, I've been listening to her every day, and by now I have an Angelina addiction. The three of you are awesome! I have tried to find other artists who sounds like Angelina without any success. So she is the one for me. To get a reality check, I am also listening to all genres of today's music. Some of it is great, but Angelina is totally different and unique with her voices. Thank you for reacting to her!

It's funny when Kaya said "is it a special microphone" I came to think of a reactor named Sandy, who maked her first reaction to this by Angelina and she didn't believe what she heard and that there might be some effect on the microphone. She then found a song with the same guitarist and without a microphone. Here she learned that it was Angelina's voice. Today this reaction by Sandy has been viewed over 1 million times. You guys are incredibly in-tune with Angelina's artistry. I felt the same way hearing it the first time, how a young person can sound so smoky, soulful and so educated; but its all God-given. This little girl has a true gift that we will sin in adoring. We shouldn't have idols, but if we did, her voice would be one.

You’ll notice in most her songs she closes her eyes a lot, when asked why she said in an interview when she was around 8 that when singing and eyes are closed she goes to another world where everything is beautiful, that world is probably what you experienced when you closed your eyes, I’ve noticed a lot of the reaction about her in the comments say she with her emotional singing transports them there. Even at 7 one of the judges on NGT said she had the unique ability to emote emotion through song. She is truly a gift. Her name is Daneliya (Duh nel ee yuh) and she is from Kazakhstan, like Dimash who called her a, 'National Treasure', she is 6 months younger than Angelina, and has had a relatively similar path to being known. I am giving you this video because Daneliya was basically the same age as Angelina when she sang her cover of Rihanna's 'Stay'. Daneliya was 13 and was just about to go to LA for her run on AGT 2020 where she went to the finals and finished 6th.
Daneliya moved to the U.S. right after her 16th birthday by herself. Her family couldn't uproot and move like Angelina's did. She is finishing her High School this June and has been working with a new team of creative people who are listening to Daneliya and helping her music go where she sees it going. PLEASE GIVE HER A CHANCE.

I've always loved this song myself. When I saw Angelina had covered it, I was very hopeful that she would live up to the original. I don't know why I was even questioning it. She not only lived up to the original, she (as she often does) surpassed it IMO. No disrespect to rihanna (she's the one that made me love the song in the first place), but at only 12 years old, Angelina sat down with her guitarist (Ivan Mendez) and was able to add so much depth and character to this vocal. She gave it a new feeling that I never got from it before. It's just staggering the talent this girl has.

She tried to recreate this with other musicians with no luck. Angelina with average musicians is still very good, Angelina with good musicians is heaven.

Someone has to be the best singer you’ve ever heard. For many of us, it’s Angelina. I believe the slight mix-up on the lyrics has nothing to do with English being Angelina’s second or third language. This was one of her frequent informal sessions with her guitarist where Angelina is just going where her musicality takes her, reading the lyrics off her phone. There are many videos created just like this one. Although this is, for me, the best version I’ve ever heard of Stay, my favorite in this setting is her staggering cover of Adele’s “A Million Years Ago.” Angelina doesn’t just interpret the lyrics-she brings you along with her, and you relate to the lyrics with memories from your own life and experience. I believe Angelina was 11 or 12 for A Million Years Ago. That’s the performance, completely informal and unrehearsed, that made me realize that a very young child was the best singer I’ve ever heard.

Both versions are independently great. The lyrics of the song is obviously a turning point in a powerful love story.. When I hear Rhianna's version I feel conflicted and honestly somewhat trapped in indecision to leave or stay. When I hear Angelina's version I feel like wow I really love you and wish we can work it out because we both have hope for a better life together but if not then my heart is terribly broken. But I'll be okay...in time. So with Rhianna I feel trapped and not ready to let go. With Angelina I feel free and ready to experience what else life has for me.

Neither did they rehearse or plan for what songs to do, it is more of a jam session. There is a great interview with him about it. The other songs they did are also absolute gold.

In my humble opinion, by the time AJ finishes her musical career, she will become the greatest musical prodigy in history. Yes! she has been arranging the music from an early age, same as Mozart. And yes! she has been vocalizing since a toddler, but what sets her apart from every other musician, is that she rearranges the music, based on the vibrations, so that when she puts her vocals on top of the vibrations, the same song that we've heard a thousand times before, we feel it brand new and so much better than the original version. BTW, based on the great energy that all three of you radiate, i can tell that you have grown into beautiful human beings. Your mother would be so incredibly proud of you all. Blessings!
Pedro, you are absolutely correct. The only singer in my opinion that was like her is Eva Cassidy. At age 16 Angelina is almost leveling Eva at twice the age. Angelina still is a bit behind in the gospel kind of voice and "beautiful" voice. But in blues, rock, pop, jazz she is at same level or better.

Hello from Norway! I've followed Angelina for over a year now. From the very day I discovered her, I've been listening to her every day, and by now I have an Angelina addiction. The three of you are awesome! I have tried to find other artists who sounds like Angelina without any success. So she is the one for me. Thanks for a lovely reaction. I have seen this cover by Angelina a lot of times, but it still amazes me, like many other of her songs. It's funny when Kaya said "is it a special microphone" I came to think of a reactor named Sandy, who maked her first reaction to this by Angelina and she didn't believe what she heard and that there might be some effect on the microphone. She then found a song with the same guitarist and without a microphone. Here she learned that it was Angelina's voice. Today this reaction by Sandy has been viewed over 1 million times. After seeing Kaya's reaction to Angelina, it will be exciting to see her react to other of Angelina's songs.

You guys are incredibly in-tune with Angelina's artistry. I felt the same way hearing it the first time, how a young person can sound so smoky, soulful and so educated; but its all God-given. This little girl has a true gift that we will sin in adoring. We shouldn't have idols, but if we did, her voice would be one.

You’ll notice in most her songs she closes her eyes a lot, when asked why she said in an interview when she was around 8 that when singing and eyes are closed she goes to another world where everything is beautiful, that world is probably what you experienced when you closed your eyes, I’ve noticed a lot of the reaction about her in the comments say she with her emotional singing transports them there. Even at 7 one of the judges on NGT said she had the unique ability to emote emotion through song. She is truly a gift.
