- Four main reasons why some of us chamber our AR's in the "wrong" caliber. You also get the benefits of ergonomics and customization of the AR platform along with the increased accuracy that it brings.
I’m one of the weirdo’s also. My reason for building one is ‘Merica and I like it.
thats the only reason needed. 👌🏻
PERFECT reason.
Same. I figured I like both, why not make them have a baby 😂
Awesome video I am one of your weirdos that likes ar-47 keep up the good work
You mentioned a Faxon barrel. You should take a look at Soto Arms. They have a twenty and a half inch in 7.62X39. I have one that they discontinued. It is stainless. But I have to reload for it. Because it has a 308 diameter bore. It is extremely accurate. The owner of Soto Arms figured their is a lot more choices when it comes to bullets in 308 diameter. Their new model has a .310 bore. I have two AR 47’s. Just started on building my third. (Wilson Combat billet lower.) So I will have a sixteen, eighteen and a 20.5 inch. Plus a have a bolt gun in 7.62X39.
like the content, straight forward looking forward to more in the future, thanks for the shout!!!
Man we think a lot alike. my fridge in my shop even looks like yours.
Great video. I watched your follow up video and you've got lots of good information.
WHY X39 / AR47 because You get the best of both worlds 👍
Just bought a ar47 upper and can't wait to see it run
Can't believe I'm your first subscriber and on your first video Merry Christmas my friend and happy New Year
@@therange113 Merry Christmas and Congrats! I'll give you a shout-out on my next video haha. Which upper did you buy?
@@ExtremelyAverageMan I appreciate it man and I got the bca 18in right side charging, iv owned both ak47 and ar15 a good Plus to having an ar47 is the bolt also works for 50 Beowulf just change out the upper and mag then boom! You got a poor man's .50 👍🏻
I'm thinking about building one with piston.
Why? Why Not? I’m looking for a 7.62x39 bolt gun right now. That’s Weirdo!
I've had my eye on the Ruger American Ranch in 7.62x39 for a while now. Is that the one you had in mind? I was sad that they discontinued the CZ 527 (and people want insane prices for them on the used market!)

I’m looking for a bolt action. Barrels for Savage actions are available in 7.62x39 and I’ll probably go that route. I have an AR in that chambering and I like it.
@@ExtremelyAverageMan
The Ruger American is a good candidate but I want a longer barrel. 20 to 22 inches. The Savage short action is pretty versatile and several barrel makers will chamber a barrel for that round. I want to build a sub 1 minute 7.62x39 to show the detractors it’s an accurate round.
I have a wise AR 7.62x39.Does not run steel case well enough for me to be confident in it,but runs brass case.Dura mags are the way to go with 7.62x39 in AR platform imo.
I'm currently trying to resolve this....I ran laquered steel through last range trip and out of 80 rounds, only had 2 FtF/extract, but otherwise ran good. I polished my feedramps up with Flitz, hoping that helps! I'll try to follow-up shooting more steel next range trip. 👍
I polished my feed ramp and the chambering is smoother. I’ve knocked off the sharp corners on the extractor. Haven’t tested it yet but my 50 Beowulf uses the same bolt face and it’s extraction issues were cured after I did that. Alexander Arms sells an extractor that’s ‘tuned’ for that issue on their 50 Beowulf.
im interested in a short pistol, maybe 10-11 inch barrel and i think the x39 may be better utilized than the 556. i could be wrong of course.
Traditionally 7.62x39 ballistically does better than 5.56 in shorter barrel lengths, since 5.56 relies more on barrel length to reach it's velocity. I would think tuning an AR in 7.62x39 would be similar in nature as I've laid out in this video, but can't be certain since both of my builds were both 16" barrels.
I have an update! I just got my 18-in ar47 upper today have to go to my SSL and get my bullets and I'm going to make video and start a UA-cam career just like yourself my friend hopefully one day we can meet Kentucky ballistics donut operator Brandon Herrera administrative results grand thumb and Hickok 45
Good luck!
do you reload?
Not....yet. I've considered it many times, but I shoot recreationally, and mostly shoot 9mm/7.62x39 which is cheap. However 8mm Mauser is getting harder to come by, and 30-06 isn't cheap either so there may come a day haha
@@ExtremelyAverageMan Johnnys reloading bench is excellent. Reloading is worth it more for other calibers , but I enjoy it. Makes 300 blk a lot more fun. I just got an email from faxon telling me I can use 308 and 311 projectiles in their x39 gunner barrels , so it will be interesting what I can come up with.
@@NeckbeardActual sweet! Funny you mention that too, the Faxon gunner barrel will be my next upgrade.
I’m the same I never liked the ar platform since Russian made is much more reliable, but I was looking for a rifle that weighs less than my vepr, so I got a 7.62 ar for so. Texas hog elimination.
