Coaching Game 4 With DyLighted - "Spirit Of The Board"

- Dylan and I played another game during his visit here in Florida. We were exhausted at this point but wanted to create some content and value to share with you.

@@dandydrew If you were tracking his hand it would be clear that it actually wasn't a revenge block. Black was floating 2 Wheat, 2 Ore while cycling out roads to manage their hand, obviously trying to drop a city. Dylan already noted that ripping one Ore was lucky because the 2x Wheat rolled just after so the city was broken.
A few orbits later, the bot double jacks Black. Then the bot rolls 2x Ore taking them to 8 cards. The 7 rolls and the bot ditches 1w/2s/1o. (edit: this is 1 wood, not wheat)
I think Black was robbing them to try to secure their city objective. If the bot took non-Wood cards from Black, there is a 50-100% chance of recovering city-building material, whether Wood or Wheat, depending on the bot's hand prior to the 7.
Now, I think getting the 3:1 should have been their earlier priority for hand management but, given they were prioritising a city, I don't think it's accurate to conclude it was a revenge block on the bot.
A trick to get the “spirit of the board,” each game do a circle around the map looking at each speciality port location and those resources on the board. Helps you see the heavy resources near their port, and you never miss seeing the rare resources.
I plan on doing specialty lesson videos specifically on some of these key concepts - There is a whole system and way to calculate “The SOB” :)

I was eyeing the 8-10-3 or 8-4-3 because of the coordinated road materials (point up to brick port) BUT seeing the game, grabbing the sheep was such a good move. Fun game!

Literally, the worst numbers possible for a four-tile resource. I've seen it happen before with three tiles (ore) but never with four.

Why did you pop at 29:09 ? More efficient to city with yop and settle 6 for last point
Because they already had one knight played. If they draw another knight it's guaranteed win because they have pacing on blue for army. City settle might win faster but can also get out of hand when you have to road settle and everyone is robbing you. The army guarantees a win in 2 turns.
With 3 vps in hand and yop played drawing a vp is actually unlucky for them. Most of the time that card is a knight and your guaranteed a win.

Am I the only one who thinks that first might actually want to take 6511+63? seems like it's the ost balanced they can get assuming they have to take a coastal
It’s playable but not sure it’s going to be the most competitive option here.
@@dandydrew Would be nice if when you say that you're unsure of/ don't agree with picks/ moves, you explained what you would have done, eg where you would have gone with first pick.

have you ever witnessed a 5 vp game?
For me personally, it has happened twice out of 5000+ games. One time on catan universe and the other on colonist. It’s rare!
