Excellent Rob, thank you. Your videos are exquisite, with regard to contents, sound, ambience and also your choice of background music.

I'd like a little more 411 on the implications of each setting. For instance audio smoothing - if audio has already been pre-processed for noise removal in Audiate should this be on? What encoding is applied when that is selected for an MP4 export (Mac)?

Perhaps I can go more in depth in another video. I have not used Audiate myself so can't really comment on that.

With Camtasia for Mac, the Keyframe Rate is set by default to 30 "frames," while for the Windows version, it is set to Keyframe every 5 "seconds." So are these settings equivalent, or does one result in better quality than the other? Thanks!

I just leave those set at their defaults and I don't change them... and the videos come out perfectly fine :-)

Hi Rob (and congratulations👏🏻 for your very useful channel, which I discovered by chance a few days ago).
This time though I don't agree with your suggestions😜! As @math_keto_office has already pointed out, exporting directly to UA-cam is a great tip, precisely because if you have divided the entire video into markers, not only have you neatly reported the timestamps in the video description, but (great thing!) you also have the subdivision of the video itself on YT in skippable sections.
If you export all this work to MP4 you have to do it from scratch, wasting a lot of time!

Looks like I'm going to have to try the automatic method! I've just never done it that way. Does it also create a local copy of the mp4 file? I like to keep a local copy of it stored in my archives as well. Looks like I'm learning something new this week! Thanks for sharing :-)

@@RobtheMaritimer No, at least on Mac😉, I don't see local copies after export, BUT it's also true that from UA-cam Studio, once the video is online, you can simply select your video and then click to download😉

Hey, you mentioned in your video that your project dimensions were 4K (3840 x 2160) and that you set the Data Rate to 6,000 kbits/sec. However, as far as I know, UA-cam recommends that a 1440p (2K) non-HDR 30 fps video requires 16 Mbps, which is about 16,000 kbits/sec. For a 4K 2160p 30 fps non-HDR video, it would need around 35-45 Mbps. So, is the 6,000 kbits/sec you selected accurate, or am I misunderstanding something? Please advise, and thank you very much!

The best thing to do is test it. this is what works well for me, but if something else works best for you then I'd just stick with that. I do know that you can lower the bitrate if you don't like how large your file size ends up being... but if your video quality suffers, then bump the bitrate up. I hope that helps :-)

@@RobtheMaritimer- Thank you for your response. I see, that makes sense. :) By the way, have you encountered any issues with color accuracy when recording your screen with Camtasia on a Mac? I’m using a MacBook Pro M2, and after recording, I notice that the colors displayed on the canvas in the Camtasia editor appear noticeably washed out and don’t reflect the true colors. However, when I screen record using QuickTime Player, the colors are preserved much better (though it doesn’t capture audio). I’m not sure if this is a problem with Camtasia or with the Mac/macOS. I tried exporting the video as a MOV file and chose Apple ProRes 422 as the Compression Type, but it didn’t help. I haven’t used a 4K HDR display on a Windows machine to test Camtasia this way yet. What about you/your experience (with Camtasia recording on Mac)? TIA!

Hi Rob, I'm on Mac Studio Max 32 GB ram and 1TB SSD, my new 2024.0.1 release stopping Export MP4 movie always at 95% and only can abort. Any tip or Help? Thanks

Is it a long video? What resolution are you trying to export at... 4K? If so, try exporting at a lower resolution and see if it exports then. You could also try to create proxy videos of any video footage first and then try exporting? I know those aren't fixes... just some ideas to try to isolate the problem. You're probably better off contacting Techsmith support and see if they can properly diagnose the problem. Sounds like your computer should be more than capable.

@@RobtheMaritimer Hi Rob, just to inform you that the same project that freeze during export with the 2024 release works fine in
2023 release. It can also be useful to the community of Camtasia enthusiasts.

I export directly to UA-cam so it creates table of contents links and captions at the same time.

Great! I guess I'm just an old dog and have gotten so used to the way I do things :-) I'll make a note to take a closer look at exporting directly to youtube. Thanks for sharing!
