I made a mistake in this video! Otters are not the only passive tames that don't require you to put food in your hotbar. There's also the gacha, the basilisk, the titanoboa, and more! My bad viewers, I wish only to provide you with the best information.

On P.C. (or any version of ark that isn’t mobile) to tame the otter you have to grab a dead fish and feed it with it right? On mobile that is not the case though, as all passive tames (except mesopithecus, these guys keep stealing mejoberries from me) on mobile require to have their preferred food in your hotbar then walk up to them then tame them.

Ik this is a joke but if u have 1500 narcotics save it for a giga or any high lvl dino but if you have knocked it for some dinos it may not take even 1 narcotic

Binge watching your guides has become a new hobby of mine. Genuinely enjoy watching them and still learn some new tips (even with 3,600+ hours into ARK).
There are a few other tricks I’d like to share:
1) For passive tames, I noticed that the interval in between the first feeding and the second feeding is the longest. The intervals in between each of the succeeding feedings are much faster.
2) Protecting whatever you are taming is essential to ensure the best post tame stats. Every hit a dino takes while knocked out can massively reduce taming effectiveness, meaning less additional levels per dino. Whether a passive or KO tame, I patrol the area to take out carnivores that could attack it. For high-level tames, I sometimes surround them with spikes to keep stuff away.

There is a downside, you waste narcotics. The narcotic effect is delayed but when you pump narcotics into something who has full torpidity, the torpor will begin to drain again after the same time limit. Pump 5 vs 100 narcotics into something who has 100% torpor. see how long it takes for each to begin draining again.
This matters in giga taming. You should wait until the torpidity has dropped until about 75% before you dump in 100 or 200 narcotics. Doing it when the torpidity is full is a big waste in this case.
Couldn't bE more wrong this has to be the worse info I've seen given by someone if you do this with say for example a Giga it's either going to wake up because it caps at maxed then drains again meaning you just wasted all your narcs or when it tames you'll go to ride it an it will keep taking topar meaning it may just pass out on you an die do not over feed narcs if your going to do tips an trick Videos spend the time to know more about the game an how it works rather then waste ppl time an teach them bad habits because alot dumb ppl think oh he runs UA-cam channel he knows what he's talking about he a smart one when this is not smart at all and I see alot dumb sheep in comments thinking it's cool an funny an harmless just gladly taking in that false info so think about new players that just started playing they will take any info an think oh he's been playing for awhile he must know it's ok then they do it an it screws them over just a thought maybe make funny ark videos if your going to produce this quality of content if it's tips an tricks you have got to know what your talking about do research because clearly none was done to achieve this load bs you could find out on Google in 5 min almost everything you need to know an be more educated then you'll ever be watching 8 min video filled with lies or just plain false information I always check multiple sources for info before assuming it's true or accurate just reading a comment off Twitter isn't good enough or even 5 different comments on a post do your research for everyones sake

Really want a kibble guide. I haven’t played in a few years, so the kibble update was news to me. I remember having to tame at least two of everything haha.

Thankfully that is no longer the case. I'll put a TLDR here and pt can get into specifics on his video -
- There's Basic, Simple, Regular, Superior, Exceptional, and Extraordinary Kibble.
- Each type works best for a specific size group of Dinos.
- There's also Egg size to pay attention to when making Kibble.
- Dodo Eggs will let you make Basic Kibble, which will allow to rapidly tame any Dino is the 'Extra Small' size category. Other extra small Dinos can include Dinos like the Pegomastax and Compy.
- Simple Kibble require the egg of and allows you to tame creatures in the 'Small" category. This can include (if I remember correctly) the first flier you can get - Pteranodon.
- Regular Kibble is for medium size creatures like Moschops and Carbonemys.
- Superior Kibble is for 'Large' Dinos. This can be things from Trikes to Rexes.
- Exceptional Kibble is for 'Very Large' Dinos. Brontos and Gigas mostly.
- Extraordinary Kibble is a special Kibble. It's the only Kibble type accepted by Terror Chickens (The Yutyrannus) and requires a different kind of Egg Variant - The 'Special' Egg.
---The best way to get a Special Egg without taming a Female Yuty beforehand is actually with the Hesperonis. By letting you already tamed female Hesperonis kill and eat 5 wild fish (for obvious reasons Colecanths and Sabertooth Salmon should be the only thing in the area in the water when doing this) which will then cause them to *potentially* lay a Golden Hesperonis Egg. I say potentially, as it IS RNG based. However, I've never had to try for more than a few minutes after taking my Hesperonis into the water while set on Aggressive. Just be sure to keep the "Whistle passive (All) command at the ready in case of something like Mantas, Piranhas, or Megalodons depending on the area you're in.

I'm so glad I came across your channel! You have great videos and explain many concepts with superb clarity. In the past I tried so so many times to get into this game but never could but now I finally figured out why thanks to your channel. The reason was I always thought the dino taming was a gimmick (just for riding dinos) not a main part of the gameplay and survival. I've realized ARK should be called beastmaster the video game because of how important the dinos are. It completely shifts how I was approaching the game.
They are the key to success
Ark is so underrated people play games like Fortnite and in many ways it’s overrated ark is way more beautiful and has one of the best game endings and dlcs and has one of the best lore of any game.
Other strange passive tames:
Titanboa. (fertilised eggs)
hesperornis. (dead fish, much like the otter)
And troodons
Don't forget the giant spider. Spoiled meat lol
Pterafier: Passive tames are much simpler

You can rapid fire with a bow and do the same amount of dmg as with a fully chared shot. The thing is, you have to fully charge the first shot and after that you can rapid fire.
You can use that for taming, too, since the torpor timer stacks with each shot. Just need to know the exact amount of arrows you need for the tame (e.g. via Dododex).
Dododex has made my taming quests and breeding so much easier.
Im not knew in the sense of knowledge for each animal but I havent been in an official or legit survival, so hopefully I can use this to help me out.
I tended to force feed Dino's bio toxin whilst taming because jelly's always come to shore on the beach in island

For trikes I just get stone walls ceilings and foundations the. I build a three wall tall tower and tranq it from up there
There is a downside to using too many narcotics, it reduces the taming effectiveness
Hesperonis is also a dragged fish and gachas you drop items for them to eat and pickup

I would have added in a lot more information if this is a full guide, I’m not saying it was bad it still had great beginner tips but it was lacking in the advance tips.
Such as: explaining more about how weapon damage does effect how many tranq arrow, darts, club hits, etc that you need to knock things out.
Also the food drain per item that dinos eat are almost always the same. Herbivores drain 30 food before they eat another berry, carnivores drain 50 food per meat. The only exceptions are when using honey or kibble, those have different times that I do not know of (kibble is somewhere near or at 100 food).
Also I don’t know if you know this but you can also craft narcotics on an equus saddle, it acts like a mortar and pestle.
I would have also added in the charts for taming herbivores and carnos. Generally speaking, all dinos in the game prefer kibble over anything and if you feed them kibble they will have higher taming efficiency which means more levels. Let’s say you knocked out a level 150 Trike, the maximum levels you could gain is exactly half of its current level (75 levels) to get as many of those levels as possible you need to make sure the Dino does NOT GET ATTACKED by anything because hitting the dino after it is knocked out will severely drain the taming efficiency, also if you feed it less preferred foods the taming efficiency will drop much faster and take longer in most cases.
I would also really recommend looking up the Dododex in your App Store, this is an amazing app to show you how long each tame will take, how many narcotics are needed, it even allows you to add in custom damage of weapons so then it can give you the exact amount of shots until the Dino is knocked out.
This makes me wanna make an advanced taming guide. I have 2 taming videos on the channel and none of them talk about that stuff which is super important

How do you feed your dinos after they are tamed? Where should I put their food?
Drag the food into their inventory or use a feeding trough for all your dinos
The heperornis can be tamed by giving fish

Berries are the same except for stimberries and narcoberries. Can look everything up on dododex.com

Isn't pumping narcotics a way that causes the dino to lose level? Not entirely clear on it. I swear in the past I would and the effectiveness rate would drop based on the drugs being flooded in its veins. I know you can waste narcotics, which isn't exactly great, but im not sure if this is a potential downside

Is there a way to have dinos without the need of constantly feeding them? I made a none-dedicated game, and lowered the Dino food consumption to zero. But that caused the dinos not to be tamable because they didn't eat. So i have to increase the value again. Or are the dinos eating on their own in this game? I would be happy if i wouldn't have to constantly feed them.
I just use some feeding troughs and move on. You can set the spoil timer to 0 so you only have to refill when they eat it all

Ngl I did make a mistake here which is why I'm re-doing this video. The only thing narcotics do after the torpor bar is full is stop it from draining for a few seconds. Essentially, you're correct lol

Since this video is all about taming, does anybody else ignore tranq darts? I just feel like they're a waste of resources, one tranq arrow costs one arrow and one narcotic, but one tranq dart is three narcotics, two metal ingots and one rifle bullet, which also costs metal, so you're going to burn through a TON of metal using darts. not only that, but even though they cost three narcotics, they deal less than three times the torpor of a tranq arrow, so you'll get more torpor out of your narcotics using arrows. And to top it off, a good crossbow is much easier to get your hands on than a good longneck, I've never seen a blueprint for a longneck rifle, but I already have a crossbow that deals 188% damage
depends on where you are in your playtrough. if you have the resources to spare that just means you spend less time actually knocking out dinos. (consider a level 150 giga, 630 tranq arrows from cross bow vs 450 tranq darts vs 200 shocking darts)

Slingshot breaks super fast, i dont personally like it which is why I left it out but honestly it is a good option for complete beginners. Good recommendation!

I usually play with the mod on ark called Ark Additions
And I have been trying to tame an acrocanthosaurs and when I knock it out it just wakes up right after and I don’t know what I am doing wrong with it
i remember seeing video like this and cause i put therizino to sleep and i tried keeping it that way by using my narcotics and i used it on my self he woke up killed me and i left the game XD
I once tried to knock out tame a wyvern on my cousins computer and got him and his tames killed :(
